So I'm planning on upgrading almost my entire PC. I live in Stockholm, Sweden, so prices are often much higher than, for example, in the US. The parts I'm planning on upgrading are mobo, cpu, ram and ssd. I don't often play very demanding games, but I would like to have something that can handle AAA-games on lower settings maybe. But the main reason I'm upgrading us that my harddrive is very slow, old and full, my motherboard only supports DDR2 memory, which I only have 4GB of, and my computer is feeling overall slow, both in games (I belive it's the ram) and normal use. My old PC: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83 GHz Sapphire r9 280 dual-x 3GB GDDR5 Old harddrive (don't care to look up the name) 2*2GB DDR2 1066 MHz ram Asus P5Q Rev. 1.03g Cooler Master Real Power M520 520w Antec nine hundred My planned PC: AMD FX-6300 @ 3.5 GHz Intel 535 Series 240GB SSD 2 * HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1866 MHz ram Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P I'm keeping the GPU, PSU and case. According to partpicker these should be compatible, only that the MOBO seem to need a BIOS update to work with any am3+ CPU. Since I have some pretty nice deals, the whole upgrade would cost about 335 usd, 293 euro. I don't have a real budget, but I'm not going to spend much more than this upgrade would cost. I'm wondering if any these parts have been known to be bad, if the parts work nicely together and if there is something I should change. This is my first time posting, so I don't now if I should create a new thread, but I also wonder if there's any way to upgrade my windows 8 to 10 while still swaping the motherboard and storage like I'm planning to do. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys! I ran into an obstacle with my GPU. I have a Sapphire R9 280 Dual-X. When I have both monitors on, my idle temp goes from 36C to 51C. I honestly don't know why. I have the average 3 fans case fan system blowing positive air. When I have one monitor, it idles at 36C. When I have both, it goes up to 51C and under load it reaches above 84C. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but if you guys could help me out, that would be fantastic. If it helps, I'm getting a new case and some new fans pretty soon, so I will be able to actually have better cooling.

So i'm not sure if it happens often but the best thing happened to me this week. In the beginning of this month I was having problems with my GPU, an R9 280, and I brushed it aside until it died like two days after. That wasn't good. So I called MSI TWICE, and after being with them for almost three hours in total, I did the RMA process. (I'll talk about their customer support some other post) Well I did the RMA and waited for their emails like standard procedure and then when I got back from school I got an email from them and I felt blessed. I read the email and it said they couldn't find my model to replace so they wanted to know if I could do a swap. I saw what they wanted swap and I was happy and excited. I couldn't believe that they wanted to swap my 280 with a R9 390. I answered yes and they sent it to me. I got the GPU on Tuesday and everything seems great. I love it! Thank our lord and savior GabeN, but in all seriousness I think I got lucky. Well that's it I just wanted to talk about it and brag a little because I found it weird and I never heard from anyone else who has done pc gaming that this has happened to them before. Thanks for reading!

My setup is FX 6300, 8gb of ram (1600MHz), 1tb HDD and a R9 280 gigabyte windforce. I want to know which of this PSU's is the best for this rig. If you could tell me how to plug the PSU to the card, i would be very thankful. The card has an 8pin and a 6pin conector, and i dont know if i have to occupy the 2 connectors. I already have the components and this PSU's are the only ones I can buy in mi situation. Thanks in advance for all the advices and recomendations

Someone help me. My PSU (generic brand) just fried when i loaded a new "r9 280 windforce" graphics card with about 2 hours of full use. I think the motherboard is fine and the rest too. Im planning to buy a new PSU, but what would you recommend?, a pixxo monster 800watts or an "EVGA white 600w 80 plus"?.

Hey guys, So today I figured out that my Sapphire Radeon R9 280, which is a PCIe 3.0 graphics card, is stuck on PCIe 2.0 16x. I discovered this in the menu of the AMD Crimson software. So I went into the Gigabyte DualUEFI BIOS and I went into the GFX Configuration in the Peripherals section of the BIOS. Does this mean anything? Am I supposed to have another option selected here? After I looked here, I went to the Miscellaneous section of the M.I.T. menu and found this: There was no Gen3 option available? Does anybody know how to fix this?

I was looking to upgrade my system this Christmas as it just turned 1 (yay!) I was looking at the R9 380 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150730) I already have an R9 280 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150706) Will these crossfire? Also, any suggestions on a different card?

Recently I bought a r9 280 from a user on /r/hardwareswap. The card runs fine in most games, but I have noticed a buzzing noise that comes from it, which sometimes causes stuttering in game, mostly in Rust. Recently, I bought Grand Theft Auto V, and while in game, my GPU is doing the buzzing and stuttering full time. I ruled out that it had nothing to do with performance because I I turned the res down and still experienced the same sh*t at a 800x600 resolution. I have a Vapor-X r9 280x, and here are the default settings of the card: Although I'm using a Sapphire card, I am using MSI Afterburner because Trixx doesn't seem to work on Win10. so, that leads me to my next question.... What do I do to resolve my issue? I read something about a force constant voltage, but I don't know how to do that.. ▒▒▒░░░░░░░░░░▄▐░░░░ ▒░░░░░░▄▄▄░░▄██▄░░░ ░░░░░░▐▀█▀▌░░░░▀█▄░ ░░░░░░▐█▄█▌░░░░░░▀█▄ ░░░░░░░▀▄▀░░░▄▄▄▄▄▀▀ ░░░░░▄▄▄██▀▀▀▀░░░░░ ░░░░█▀▄▄▄█░▀▀░░░░░░ ░░░░▌░▄▄▄▐▌▀▀▀░░░░░ ░▄░▐░░░▄▄░█░▀▀░░░░░ ░▀█▌░░░▄░▀█▀░▀░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░▄▄▐▌▄▄░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░▀███▀█░▄░░░ ░thanks░░▐▌▀▄▀▄▀▐▄░░░ ░░░░░░░▐▀░░░░░░▐▌░░ ░░░░░░░█░░░░░░░░█░░

Hello, i am posting here because i have bought a R9 280x VTX3D (powercolor rebrand in europe) to replace my Radeon HD 6790 nearly 1 month ago, and lately it is acting quite weird, but i dont know what is wrong. I have a Corsair GS600w bronze+ (i know it is the previous generation of the CX600, but 5 years ago i didnt know much about electronics and computer hardware). The 6790 was pretty far pushed with a custom bios flashed, about 1020mhz on the core and 1200mhz on the mem speed, but there were no issues at all with 2HDD and 1 ssd, paired with my i5 2320@ 3Ghz. The problem is now, with the 280x, i have pushed it at 1100Mhz on the core and 1625 mhz on the mem speed, and after some weeks it started acting weird (i stress tested for 3 hours without any problems), like pc shutdowns, no image on the screen(while the music in the background playing normally) and i decided to back down a little. Now i am on 1000Mhz on the core and 1500Mhz on the mem speed.(note that the card out of box has 1050mhz on the core and1500mhz on the mem speed), but it still shutdowns/black screen , even when i am just surfing the web. I did some research and found out that my system nearly draws about 590w. Would the cards weird function be a psu's problem, or is the gpu faulty? how i can find out ?

Hi I just bought a ligit monitor it is a Benq XL2420T. I now run all my games at 1920x1080@120hz now every thing was fine until I started up battle field. When I started playing the monitor started now and then when there was a lot happening stuttering. I told bf4 to run a system check and I told me the frame rate was mostly at 99fps. How can I stop the stuttering. My system is an Amd FX-6300, 16gb adata ram, a asus r9 280, and a MSI 970 Gaming AM3+ AMD 970

Hello everyone, So I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU to the Intel Core i5 4460(non-k edition) and I'm stumped on what motherboard I should get for it. I'm upgrading from an AMD A10-6800K on the A78 chipset. Also, I am not planning to overclock any components of my build including this upgrade. Here's my build so far: CPU - AMD A10-6800K Black Edition Mobo - Gigabyte GA-F2A78M-D3H GPU - AMD Radeon R9 280(Sapphire) Hard Drive #1 - WD Blue 1TB 7200 RPM Hard Drive #2 - Seagate Momentus Thin 500GB 5400 RPM PSU - Corsair CX500(non-modular) Case - Corsair SPEC-02 The upgrades will replace the CPU and Motherboard: New CPU - Intel Core i5 4460 New Mobo - ??? Feel free to post any suggestions for a non-overclocking but solid motherboard below

I recently bought a 2GB Asus R9 270x Direct CU II TOP for $230 CAD (it's still in the box), and I've been wondering if a 3GB Sapphire R9 280 Dual-X OC ($210) would've been more worth it.

i was thinking of creating a setup of 9 (22" monitors @ 1920x1080 res.) in eyefinity mode, using mst hubs with the mini displayports on 2x R9 280's ive tried searching online if this is possible but no-one has asked this directly or they are very vague answers. would eyefinity work with 9 monitors with approximate resolution of 5760x3240? the web says max of 6 monitors but mentions a max resolution of 8192 x 8192? can you run eyefinity using more than 1 gpu (with crossfire or not)? the web says you can use 2 gpu's whilst not using crossfire/eyefinity and use ports on both gpus for your monitors? do all monitors have to be connected to 1 gpu for gaming? the web says you could run many monitors but only those connected to gpu1 would be used when gaming in eyefinity? i know this is a pretty crazy idea and would be very expensive. i am just curious if it is possible and any implications of doing this. if all of this is wrong does anyone know of a way to setup 9 monitorsand get the effect of an eyefinity setup? thank you for any advice you give.

PowerColor TurboDuo R9 280 3GB ~~VS~~ XFX Black Edition Double D R9 280 3GB Which one? Hey guys, I would like to get your opinion on a comparison of these two cards. I am a first time PC builder, and I am very strongly considering these two cards to go into my build. I am really opting to get these because of the price (both ~$180 USD, both 280's). Here is the 'comparison' of the specs on NewEgg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=-1&IsNodeId=1&Description=R9%20280&bop=And&CompareItemList=-1|14-131-666^14-131-666-TS%2C14-150-705^14-150-705-TS&percm=14-131-666%3A%24%24%24%24%24%24%24%3B14-150-705%3A%24%24%24%24%24%24%24 But I am somewhat skeptical of both of these due to their reviews, or lack-there-of. The PowerColor has only 2 reviews on NewEgg, and many of the PowerColor products seem to have very few reviews which leads me to be that it is somewhat of an "off-brand" which again makes me question it's reliability. But, having that said, both reviews are 5/5, and the reviews on other products seem to be decent. On the Flip-side of this, XFX seems to be more well-known (and definitely more reviewed) than PowerColor. Again, the reviews seem relatively positive except on the 280 and 280X. Screen artifacts and tearing seem to be common in the problematic reviews and many mention that this card runs hot and (again as a new PC builder) I'm not sure how bad or how much of an issue this is. So, in short, I am most concerned about the reliability/longevity of these two cards. I really like these both due to the cheap price and 3GB VRAM. I am open to other suggestions and I am VERY grateful for any feedback. -Thanks, GH4

Introduction: I got this card back in September 2014 as a replacement for my R9 280 dual x OC from sapphire (i got that for 200 EURO and three free games, so I actually payed around 150EURO). At that time, I was building a budget pc, I got an i5 2500k and a Z68 board for 170 euro and the R9 280 was the card with the best price/performance ratio in the market (it was around 20 EURO cheaper than a gtx 760 in my area, but it was and still is faster). Ou, well I should say, that I did not pay more than 560 EURO for my pc. Specs: Process technology: 28nm Core clock: 950MHz, Boost clock: 1072MHz Memory Clock: 5000MHz Memory Size: 3072MB Memory Type: GDDR5 Power requirement: 6-pin + 8-pin. I/O: DVI-I, 2x Mini display port, HDMI. Dual BIOS Switch. Photos: The card looks pretty big, bud I didn´t have any problems fitting it into my very (very) small case. It uses a reference PCB (yeah, it is black, not blue!!! But i don´t really care about the PCB color) so no fancy VRM and PCB design. Test rig: CPU: intel core i5 2500K oc @ 4,2GHz. CPU COOLER: cooler master TX3 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA Z68MA D2H-B3 RAM: 2X Kingston 1333MHz 4GB. HDD: western digital caviar blue 1tb 7200rpm PSU: seasonic 600W 80% Bronze Benchmarks. Just a reminder, I have used different clock speed to simulate the reference hd 7950, the reference r9 280. my factory overclocked version and a high overclock (it is not my highest overclock, but it is a good achievable overclock for most people). Unigine Valley (ultra preset, 4x AA) Score. FPS. Tomb Raider (ULTRA + tressfx 1 FXAA): Hitman Absolution (ULTRA + SSAA): Metro Last Light (ULTRA + SSAA): Assassin's creed Unity (ultra preset, high shadows + FXAA): The Witcher 3 (Mostly ULTRA, no Hairworks, Water, shadows and foliage at high, those are the settings, I've used to play the game for more than 147 hours) Cooling: The temperatures never exceed 75° (mostly 72) and the fan never went above 65%. I must say, in comparisson to my previous dual x cooler, the windforce one is not as effective, but it's not as loud. Conclusion: In my opinion, the R9 280 is still a very potent GPU with nice performance, but if i had to buy a new card, I would go with a R9 380 with 4GB of VRAM and overclock it to somewhere around 1100MHz. At that speed, you should get around 15% more performance, at a much lover power consumption. You might have seen, that I used a special overclock for the Unigine valley benchmark (1150 core and 6000 VRAM) and we observed a increase in performance, I would like to go deeper on this topic, because, there had been rumors, that the GCN 1.0 amd 1.1 are very bandwidth dependant (this problem has been solved by the GCN 1.2 and it's data compresion).

Hi everyone, n00b asking for some recommendations here, I live in Indonesia, and one of my buddy is giving me a brand new MSI r9 280 3g. I have encountered some questions regarding the PSU, should i upgrade to a better one? or use the current one, i dont mind spending cash for a new PSU as long as my pc will work fine, because i heard some people say 500w is enough but some say they dont. Here is the website where i can get all my stuff: www.enterkomputer.com/psu.php My budget will be around Rp 1.100.000 max. I don't want anything fancy, as long as it gets the job done. My current rig specs: i5 3570 AsRock pro4 mvp 8gb ram 1- 1tb hdd 1- 500gb hdd 1- 128gb ssd Power color HD 6870 1gb 3 fans ENLIGHT Blacksilver 500w PSU (I got this for sometime and having no problems at all) NO overclocking, just for casual gaming. Note: this is a rig from 2012, so please give me some slack if the specs are lame. Please do help me guys, I will appreciate any info and recommendations given to me. Thank you in advance and have a good one guys!

Hello, fellow enthusiasts. I hope you're doing well. My system keeps crashing when I play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with AMD Gaming Evolved enabled. I'm forced to CTRL+ALT+DEL my system and shut down the game process. If AMD Gaming Evolved is not running, though, I manage to get a rock solid experience with the aforementioned game. CS:GO is a game that Raptr has certified as being compatible with its in-game overlay, but it's far from being usable since it keeps crashing my game. My system can withstand a 24-hour stress test running FurMark and Prime95 simultaneously, but sometimes it takes just 10 minutes before my CS:GO hopelessly crashes. Here's what I have tried: a) I've tried using Catalyst 14.12 instead of 15.7. It in fact explicitly installs an extra package of stuff meant for AMD APP and video capture that doesn't show up on 15.7's setup. I've read on OBS forums that the removal of that made Raprt issue a patch since theirs and every other software that relied on AMD APP for gaming capture started to have problems with 15.7. Nothing changed. B) I've tried using only Plays.TV's beta client (even though it looks like it's almost completely integrated inside AMD Gaming Evolved). I thought it could be a problem with the Raptr-Plays.TV hook up, but Plays.TV's own standalone software behaved in the exact same fashion. c) I've tried using Mirillis Action as an alternative. It worked flawlessly as it managed to record a 12-hour GOTV broadcasting session without crashing. It only stopped and closed the game because it hit the 12-hour mark (and I can't choose more than that for the maximum video duration, at least not in the trial version). Except for that weird behaviour (since I expected it to just shut down the video capture without closing the game), it worked well: it managed to actually capture 60fps on the 1080p, full quality setting, something that AMD Gaming Evolved / Raptr / Plays.TV was failing to achieve regardless of crashing. But there are two main issues: Mirillis Action is not free software and the performance hit was huge, way beyond the supposed 10% of an AMD APP recording solution. d) I've tried even underclocking the card to the reference design clocks, since this Sapphire Dual-X is a slightly factory-overclocked card. Nothing changed. e) This is the second motherboard I'm using while having the very same problem. I've changed it because somebody I know wanted an LGA 1150 system and I took the opportunity to make a deal and get a more well-featured motherboard, but the problem persisted. The first motherboard was an ASUS H81M-A/BR. Sapphire's Technical Support told me this: But I'm not sure my retailer's technical support will be able to reproduce the issue, since it might be kind of software (driver) related. I'd love to find an easy, replicable way of determining it's a hardware issue that involves only free software/games and that I could instruct my retailer's RMA department to reproduce, otherwise they'll just send me the very same card back if they're unable to determine it's a hardware issue. I'm yet to try playing a different game for longer than the 2 hours I've spent with Diablo III, since I remember playing CS:GO for longer than 3 hours with no crashes. If I manage to get a crash in a different game, that will be a huge thing in this troubleshooting process. Any good F2P game suggestions other than Team Fortress 2 and DOTA 2 (which are both Source Engine-based just like CS:GO) and League of Legends (which I just can't stand) that I could use for this troubleshooting process are welcome. Do you guys think I should try "extreme" things like flashing the motherboard and/or video card BIOS in case any updates are available? Any other ideas? P.S.: In case you're wondering why I'm not using a Dual Channel Kit, it wasn't available at the time of my purchase and due to an online discounted offer I could not purchase 2 of the same modules (it was a one-item-per-customer kind of deal), so I was forced to purchase different heatsink colors for the same module. I took the risk and decided that if MEMTEST86+ failed I'd return the modules and wait for a Dual Channel Kit, but that didn't happen and I happily enjoyed the discounted price for a couple of cool, different-colored versions of the same memory module. Thanks for your valuable time.

Does anybody know if AMD or Rockstar released a fix for the glitches yet in GTA:V? I have tried and tried to adjust my settings to fix all the bugs but have managed to still have issues, also if I play for about twenty-minutes or so Windows displays a message saying that my system is low on memory. My system specs are as follows System CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 GPU: AMD R9 280 (MSI Gaming) MOBO:ASRock H97 Anniversary RAM: 8 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 CASE: Corsair Spec-03 STORAGE: 1x 1TB WD Blue and 1x 128 GB Sandisk SSD PSU: Corsair CX 750 OS: Windows 8.1

My poor R9 280 struggles with the Witcher 3 with Ultra settings despite being overclocked. I got it running with all on Ultra except for water (high), foliage distance (high) and Hairworks (off). Even so, I was dropping to about 24 FPS in forest areas. So I turned down the resolution to 900p, but frankly it looked like arse. I went back to 1080p. Out of sheer desperation I decided to OC my card even further. I turned the clock from 1100Mhz to 1175Mhz. Of course, this did not make much difference (about 1 FPS). So here comes the weird bit. I increased the VRAM clock from 1250 to 1425. My minimum FPS jumped from 24 to 31 and keeping over 40FPS 99.9% of the time! Benchmarks (valley and Heaven) only show a 5% improvement, but my minimum on the Witcher 3 jumped by about 30%! This is the only game where I've seen such a dramatic improvement. How is it that this game is so susceptible to VRAM speeds? Has anyone seen this before?

So i have Arma 3, (this is seriously annoying me so any help is welcomed), and arma is being a b**** to run sometimes cutting down to 20 fps. Could anyone post some settings purely for fps? Specs: I5-4460 Corsair Vengance 8gb 1600mhz Gigabyte Windforce R9 280 Those are the important specs, but if anymore are required then just message me. Any advice, except overclocking, is gratefully accepted.
