Hey people of the IoT, I forgot the password on my external hard drive but I desperately need the data inside of it. Any ideas on how to unlock it or copy the data out of it? Its a WD mypassport 1TB

I am having such a problem with his fracking issue. I go into my Network and click on my new file server. I double click to get in. I am asked for a username and password. No issues. Until I get to the second screen where it is asking for a password only. How can I get through this? I have been struggling with this all day.

Hi! I work part time at this local computer store, were we restore and tune a lots of computers infected by malware and other bad programs that impacts computers negatively. And today I happened to come across this video from Linus Tech Tips, were he uses a gadget called “Password Reset Key” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_JIhn3vJVI&t). As he states in the end of the video that it is a great tool for a computer shop. I wanted to obtain a copy but it was not listen on Amazon anymore, so I started to look for alternatives but could not find any good ones. (The plan was to burn an iso file to my own usb drive) Do you guys know any good Windows password utility’s that works for Windows 10, that I later can burn to a usb drive? Howdy, Several months ago I bought my laptop and added in an admin password for security. Now I want my dad to use my laptop so I was wondering if there is a way for me to disable the admin password so my dad doesn't have to know another thing before using the laptop? -
I'm just wondering, I personally use KeePass, how about you guys? Can you guys state your reason as well for choosing the software? I'm a bit obsessed with open-source stuff, besides I don't really like the idea of storing stuff online where syncing is a thing. I like to keep my passwords offline, well KeePass' got lots of plugins as well which might be useful someday.

I have been unable to login to my facebook account for a few days now and when I tried it asked me to send them a photo that clearly shows my face. I did and have been receiving this message every time I try to login. I have attached a screenshot of the message...

I encrypted my disk d and tried encrypting my OS as well, but the OS did not encryet, while disk d I closed it while encrypting it then nothing really happened. Then I shut down my computer I opened it and it was fine, then shut it down and I opened it, still fine(but most of the desktop icons where not their original image), next time I shut down and opened it, it was not working well, It was refreshing every 5 second, completely unusable then I restarted it and this came up, Everytime I insert my password it says: please enter username and password, so I tried recovering it, but it states I need an administrator account, because I have a bitlocker recovery on my USB, but I need local admin to do that when I don't have. I know my grammar is bad, it's because I have to use a fcking phone.

Whenever I factory-reset my Android phone (Motorola Moto G 3rd Generation), or otherwise go through the setup process when starting up an Android device, I'm usually asked to sign in to my Google account (I believe you can skip this step, but I'm referring to a practical setup wherein you have access to your Play Store for your apps, your emails etc.). Thing is, I use KeePass, a password generator/database, to store all my passwords, including for my Google account. This always leads to me having to fire up one of my laptops or desktops to open my (Google Drive shared) KeePass database, show the password, and tediously type out each character (which is very tedious when your passwords look like this). Without access to apps, I have no easy way to copy+paste the password with remote desktop functionality, or use Keepass apps for the same purpose, or e-mail myself the password (not advised) for the same purpose. I find it hard to believe I am the only one who, both, uses an Android phone (and therefore has to login to Google) and uses Keepass (or other password generator/database solutions like Last Pass), so I'm wondering if this is a pain someone has found a solution to: is there a way to make this process less tedious? -
I use a netgear WNR614 Wi-Fi router. I was wondering if there was a way for it to automatically change its password daily. It would be helpful if it could do that from a pre defined list of passwords and then repeat when the list has reached its end. If devices can also automatically change the password it would be a blessing too. I use to in a restaurant to provide access to customers. So it would be awesome if the password could be automatically changed everyday. Anybody have any suggestions?

How do you manage all of your passwords and accounts? The following are needed (imo) in account and password management: 1) Ease of access wherever you are (needed unless you only log into accounts on your own devices only, like me) 2) Top notch security that nobody can access (therefore, I as principal can never trust password managers that save your passwords in the cloud), providing encryption, in case you were to lose it. 3) Passwords that can be easily backed up to different devices for redundancy (eg. to a USB) in an encrypted format and can be decrypted on other devices when needed - in case the primary device was to be lost. 4) Security from malware or network-based attacks. This in my opinion is a must and any password management on computers or phones are very risky since there is a central point of attack, which is by far the easiest to compromise. One thing which is needed but near impossible to safely implement: Passwords to be accessible to others in case of an emergency. LastPass provides this. It's an interesting area. It does provide a point of attack but some kind of emergency access is needed in case for example, you were to die (God forbid) and your family needs access to your accounts. I know of no way this can be implemented without some kind of vulnerability From my understanding, there is no password management software which provides these. The only way to fit all of those requirements is to have a dedicated device with no internet access to manage passwords. Essentially like a PDA. But again, these don't exist and who would buy them except those business minded folks? One 'easy' solution would be to have a password manager on a raspberry-pi-like PDA. But who would buy it or make it besides the most tech savvy? It would however have the advantage of being a computer so you can copy backups of your passwords to USBs for redundancy. I have been looking into LastPass and it does look promising. But I still can't shake how easy it is for someone to hack you. 1) You're storing passwords in the cloud. Sure it would be near impossible to brute force passwords but there are ways other than brute-force for an encryption to be hacked. And 2) You're storing passwords on a device which can be easily hacked. A simple solution would be to go old school and write down passwords on a notepad in an obscure format that literally nobody but yourself would understand, but then you're trading ease of use - you would be having to remember complex 'codes' or associations with those cryptic passwords. Edit: Also, you can't easily back those passwords up in case your house was to light on fire or something horrid like that. What are your thoughts? Which areas, if any, are you willing to compromise on? Are there any areas that you consider?

About 6 months ago i but some files in a .7z file. Encrypted with 7-zip AES-256. I have a ruff idea of what the password is say for example how many special characters and it has the word "The" in. Also i know where the numbers in the password and ruffly how many numbers it could be between. What program or what could i use to crack this? Some sort of brute force that tries passwords rather than hashing? I'm probably just doing capitals in the wrong place for example but there are over 400 or 500 ways the capitals could go for example. Any faster way of completing this? Also the file is 18GB big so after entering a password i have to wait 15 minutes for it to extract between trying each password since it only tells me the password is wrong at the end of the extraction.

Isn't there an OS that you can load onto a flash drive that you can boot into to strip a password off of a Windows user? I've got an old XP machine that I need files off of, and no one remembers the password.

Hi, I want to open a server for a friends company that he does not remember the password and he doesn't want to lose all the previous data. I used the iseepasswords software to reset the password. After I used it, the password status went from "<unknown>" to "<blank>". Now I've started the machine but there is still a password. Just enter, space, password1234, <blank> doesn't work. I logged on to the iseepasswords software again and the password status was still "<blank>" as I had changed and left it before. Anyone knows what is going on? Also, I have the product key if it helps

hi, I have a silicon power a85 external hdd and I just set a new password for it but after restarting my pc I'm no longer able to unlock my drive. maybe there was a typo in my new password but by the way I can't unlock it using SP HDD Lock Utility. What should I do?

Hi! I booted into safe mode do use DDU and then my internet doesn't work, so i can't log into windows now, and as far as I know, I need internet to log into windows you and I can only return to the non safe mode after you have already logged into windows, which I can't do. Suggestions? Thanks

So I get tons of spam and usually it is nothing but I looked in spam and recently had one that had my correct password along with whatever mistakes I typed in the field before the correct one. So I'm very confused, I don't use the same pass for everything and alot of my stuff is dual auth but I'm still worried. I think I even had an email in there sent from my own email but I need to double check if that's fake because the password they had was not my email one. One of the passwords it sent me was a very old Netflix one which I never used other places and had accidentally typed in not that long ago.

So im at the office i go to the office every day connect to the wifi, and suddenly i had a new boss and decides to change the password and all and said nobody is allowed to connect via Wifi (such a dick) i use my phone to chat make calls with Family and MAPS is very important to me.. im connected VIA LAN with a Desktop. so can i Get the WIFI password via LAN? (i have no access to the ROUTER) thanks!

Hi, so my mum has ran into an incident with her laptop in that she has forgotten her password. Her laptop is using a local account - not attached to any Microsoft account - and she is currently stuck on the log-in screen. She has tried answering the security questions but has failed the test and therefor cannot reset her password through this method. I tried getting her to reset her Hotmail password in an attempt to see if her laptop was a Microsoft account but that had not worked either. I have also tried creating a password reset disk for her but found out that reset disks are made for the storage device that the disk was made on, so no luck there either. She says she has files she would ideally like to keep on her laptop. Is there anything more I can do to reset a Windows 10 local account or is the only endgame to ultimately format the entire laptop and Thanos all her files along with it to let her use her laptop again?

Hello! new member here but a longtime fan of the yt channel but ive heard that here are tech savvy people and i am hoping to find some fresh ideas how to approach the following problem at work i have a laptop what has a dell security manager protected HDD and i am tasked with reinstalling it... but since i cant access the hdd no matter how i try and the password for the security manager doesnt help sadly :( https://bios-pw.org/# its a dell lattitude 6430u so my question is there any other way to either get the password or bypass it somehow? been stuck on this for 2 days and starting to boubt in my choice of career.... xDD anyway ive tried upgrading/downgrading bios-es ive heard it works but no luck with that and i know the ctrl+enter has no luck either at my last job i managed to luck out a fix via that way but no luck here.... would be really gratefull for any decent ideas...

Hey guys my friend somehow forgot her lockscreen password for her Samsung Galaxy Tab and can't figure out how to unlock it. She knows the google login data and can even locate it but we didn't figure out how to unlock the screen first lol Can someone help us in this case??

Hello, I've written <Link Removed> about password generation, storing (hashing+salting) and hacking techniques. It's first of (hopefully) many upcoming publications on cyber security issues, decided to start with passwords because 05.02 was world password day and IMHO weak passwords are still all over the internet. The intent was to describe the process of password storing/hacking as clearly as possible but to remain technical while at it. Maybe it will be useful to some of you, or maybe you have some critique? I'm not a certified cyber security expert but have been researching it for a few years already, if there is anything I got wrong, or should add, anything that comes to your mind, I would appreciate such feedback very much! -
Hello everyone and thanks for reading this , I'm Diego and I have a Acer nitro 5 (an515-42 it's a laptop with windows 10 1803 16gb of ram a Ryzen 5 2500u and a rx560x ) for 7 months and after updating my bios from 1.11 to 1.12 a bios password appear and I won't go in Acer shop and paid for repair this because when I called technical support . He said me '' hummm you have forgotten your password '' but no . ? it's why I would like to say if someone could help me . oh and when I fail 3 time it give me a 'key' (2013271607) I don't know if it will help you . So I have a problem with this pc where when i set the user password of the admin account to a new one, it changes but when i restart or sometimes just log out and log in again, it reverts back to the old password it has. I have tried changing the password from the ctrl + alt + delete > change a password, change the password from computer management, change the password from login, and nothing changes the password.. it just reverts back to the old password despite saying it was successfully changed. I changed the local user password with just the computer management way and it didnt present a problem. I made another local admin with another password i could never get wrong. When i tried to log into it, it says password is invalid. Again when i change the password on the 2nd account via the 3 ways stated above, despite saying successfully changed, the password is still wrong and wont let me into the other admin account. What can i do to fix this problem?

I have a Compaq PresarioCQ56 that I forgot the password for. When I try to open in safe mode there is no other account made and the command prompt doesn't open when I open in safe mode with the cmd prompt. All that does is mess with the resolution. I don't have a password reset disk and I am stuck. What do I do?
