Hi guys As the title says, I'm looking to build a overkill and future proof (if there is such a thing) pc. I'm not really sure what parts to pick, and would really appreciate som help. I want a black and white theme build, with some white led. Max budget is around 3000$, so feel free to find the best components, including keyboard and mouse. Thanks in advance.

Hello everybody I am going to be doing some very extreme mods to the Phanteks Enthoo Evlov. This is for a build with very clean aestetics and my mods will reflect it. I will also be getting a custom paint job done, a grey on the outer panels (In 2pack paint which is what cars are painted with)and black on the inner ones(powder coated). All of the mods will be very strong as they are all going to be made out of steel or aluminium and welded to the case. These case mods are going to cost about $2,000 in materials, labour because I am not able to do all of these case mods myself and paint. Here are the case mods that I have started planing. Front internal panel The plan is to mount a 360mm alpha cool radiator on the front panel as marked above. This will mean that these tabs need to be cut off and a piece of aluminium/steel welded to the flat surface. This is the front panel dust filter and it will need to be expanded to allow for the 360 radiator to breath. Here are the push pins that are currently holding the front fan filter to the front panel they will need to be replaced and relocated because they are in the path of where the radiator sits. Front panel Exterior Front Panel has a hole that needs to be filled it is 3mm aluminium. It needs to be flush with the outside surface. Side/back panel exterior panel More holes to be filled Rear panel I need to make a cover panel to cover the area shown here and needs to be welded to the back panel. Here is a quick one I made up out of acrylic to show you what I meant. Top internal panel This panel feels abit thin and weak even when it was in case with rad and fans attached needs some reinforcements to strengthen. Weld a sheet to the back of this panel with the needed cut outs. Mid section Weld a cover plat to this cover panel. it's just to cover up for neatness just to clean up the aesthetics. Motherboard tray Cover panel to cover the motherboard tray next to the motherboard with small space or cut outs for GPU and 24 pin cables, This part may need to be extended somehow to reach the inner front panel because of previous mods to the front panel. Side panel with window This is just a simple window expatiation so you can see the whole inside. Just what is in the planing for now I will keep you all posted, loved reading all your coments.

Sorry to bother you guys but. I hear a lot of guys say that your power supply should use 15% to 25% of your power supply in order run efficiently without any stability issues. So here it is I have a corsair Hx1200i psu and I want want to add a Intel i7 4790k processor with an asus z97 motherboard and a asus strix dc2oc gtx 980, western digital green drive with a Kingston 120GB ssd Be honest did I screw up horribly? Will I have stability issues, crashes, and God forbid blue screen of death? please help!

is it possible that Linus can build a high-end/ overkill pc then water cool or air cool it in a Lego Case? This can be a challenge

Hey, yes I know I can go on the freaking pinned topic where it tells me how much power I need but I am too confused for that So I am getting a new rig and have decided on all my parts except some fans and power supply. Well actually originally I thought I knew what PSU I wanted until I saw the estimated power usage! In PCPartPicker, it says that my PC will use around 350 watts while on full load, and I am going to overclock it and MAYBE increase some voltages on my components. I was originally going for a EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply But now it seems a bit overkill for a 400 watt system? Don't you think? I would appreciate some help down in the comments as to what company I should buy from and what efficiency rating it should have. Thanks guys, all help will be appreciated. System specs: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($525.00 @ CPL Online) CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 67.8 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler ($119.00 @ PCCaseGear) Motherboard: Asus Z170-AR ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($245.00 @ Centre Com) Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($185.00 @ Scorptec) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($145.00 @ IJK) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 4GB WINDFORCE 3X Video Card ($699.00 @ Centre Com) Case: Fractal Design Define R5 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case ($159.00 @ CPL Online) Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($159.00 @ CPL Online) Optical Drive: LG GH24NSB0 DVD/CD Writer ($17.00 @ IJK) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) (Purchased For $0.00) Total: $2253.00 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-09-28 16:09 AEST+1000 Side note: I do want more since I might upgrade, but not too much upgrading. Example: If system requires 400 watts, I would rather 600 or 575 or 650 or something higher than 400 by at least like 100 watts. I want a safe distance from my estimated usage than my actual PSU wattage. Hope that somehow made sense. EDIT #1 Apparently PCPartPicker stuffed up on calculating the wattage and the full load is 650 watts if you include the gpu. Would this be enough for OVERCLOCKING? D: Thanks

Hello everyone! This is my first post! So excite! Simply put: I want to have a second machine (in addition to my fairly loud, and power-hungry gaming rig) since I don't need all the performance it provides for web browsing and word processing. I need to have a computer on for ~4 hours straight when I do homework and stuff in the evening. (I am a high schooler) I want to either have a 13-inch laptop that's fairly cheap, like the HP Stream 13, or get a Raspberry Pi 2, and watercool, overclock it. Note that it will run Ubuntu instead of Raspbian. Sort of like this... http://www.overclock.net/t/1410604/build-log-water-cooled-raspberry-pi-mod-build If I got the RPi, I would like to run it off of the sun, maybe even 24/7 - this would be a REALLY fun project. But, If I get a laptop, I can use it in school, come home, connect it to my monitor and keep working. So, Let me know what you would do, and why. Thanks!

So heres the deal, I can spend just over 4500 on the rig I want to get. Do I want overkill? Yes. Do I want my accessories to match and look neat? Yes, Im very big on physical aspects hence the $400 MOBOs. Anyways heres the link to my first option: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WQTN7P And this is for my second option: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/YpM2Lk Money wise the builds are only $154 in difference. In theory I am going to hold out on buying the GPUs and wait for the 980Ti to release. If you're wondering what I will be doing with this my pc, I will be recording pretty long videos 2-3 hrs and probably trim them to about 1 hr and I plan on using after effects. Im planning to record in 1440p and every once in a while I texture objects and use a 3D editor I dont want to say Im a "pro" nor will I be doing this 24/7 but I would like to think that I dont have limitations as well as a neat looking pc. I figured if I was going to get a computer I might aswell get one that I will not need to upgrade for a few years instead of constantly buying $400 laptops/desktops which end up being outdated with only about one year of use. If you have any recommendations I would really appreciate some constructive critisism however I am very well aware I could spend way less.

Hello Everyone, Some of you might have seen my previous topics asking for help with a small form factor build for around 1000 USD. However, a new development has come up. In some old boxes, I found Magic The Gathering (a trading card game) cards from my childhood. After looking online, I found that a few of these cards are worth LUCRATIVE amounts of money (see links). Because I no longer play MTG, I will sell these. Using the money I gain, I will: A. SAVE, SAVE, SAVE (DUH) B. Build a super powerful PC. Please respond with your build suggestions. The board should have Wifi (or include a wifi upgrade thingy), and the form factor should (preferably) be MATX or MITX (but small ATX cases with an ATX board are welcome, in order to utilize my budget). MTG Cards I will sell (you do the math): http://sales.starcitygames.com/carddisplay.php?product=15270 | http://sales.starcitygames.com/carddisplay.php?product=15273 http://sales.starcitygames.com/carddisplay.php?product=15276 | http://sales.starcitygames.com/carddisplay.php?product=15279 | http://sales.starcitygames.com/carddisplay.php?product=15282 | http://sales.starcitygames.com/carddisplay.php?product=16961 Please only use about a third of the total selling price of those cards. I want to save the rest for a later date for when I go through hard times or have kids.

Hey Guys, I've just finished picking parts that would go into pc for my friend, i just want to ask, what do YOU guys think about it.. Here are the components i chose: Board: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K + some random cooler of coolermaster brand GPU: ZOTAC GeForce GTX970 4GB DDR5 AMP! Extreme Core Edition RAM: 8GB DDR3 of HyperX Fury (ofc in white so it sticks with the looks of mobo) 4x2 or just single stick of it.. depending on my friends decision SSD: Kingston HyperX Fury 240GB (Here i really need some help, if normal disk of 2 terras would be "worther" than this.. i know SSD is not that important.. but u kno, its more comfortable speaking about boot time, ingame loading and shiet like that.. idk just help plz ) CASE: Here i went with Corsair SPEC-03 because of my own experience with it.. its so cool because of its airflow, no need of screwing down your HDD, it has window and some more cool features including "Not falling of screws" or however you want to call it POWER: Just Cooler Master Thunder 600W.. I have to say i have no idea about it.. its cheap, and seems to be liked for "casual" builders Here you go, i expect the hate ! Thanks for any help that comes

Well the thing starts here, i bought this Dell Inspiron 560s computer from my bother because he needed money for like $300 U.S + a monitor was my first "good" computer switching from a intel pentium 4? or older, i saw once on the bios it said 1999/1/1 soo idk i was all happy with it but i started to play mp games and wanted to play without unfair advantage, so i bought a gtx 750 TI to play games at as least 60 fps then i started making a profit online and realised, the faster your pc is the more you have the more profit, well some kind like that. ^TL;DR I want to switch from a Dell Desktop Computer to a decent gaming/productivity CPU and MOTHERBOARD beucase this is from like 2009 my personal uses are those: Opening (lest say) 6 2D games at once Browsing the internet with like 9 TABS(OR LESS(4), ATM I CAN NOT SEE TWITCH STEAMS ON SOURCE QUALITY BECAUSE THE ENTIRE PC GETS HELLA SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW ) ej: Youtube,YT,Twitch,LTT,RandomForum,YT,Google,Twitter,Facebook Skype Call Teamspeak Client Calculator Also Cod 4 or Battlefield 3 casual MP games Etc... FOR GPUS think i plan to get a SLI or Cross-fire on the future(only 2) or as least 1 High End GPU FOR RAM any dual channel will be fine i have 2 sticks of DDR3-1333Mhz FOR AUDIO If its good, fine FOR STORAGE Well Of Course Sata III 1 SSD, 1 HDD? (im using a sata 2 wd blue 500gb hdd wich is working like new even it has 4 years working ) FOR CASE I can support a ATX Motherboard or Micro-ATX board I dont want the CPU to be such OVERKILL or slow i heard or as least i think is like this but im not really really sure i3 for browsing internet, i5 for casual people and i7 for more than casual people, and fx 6350 dont know any fx 8350 dont know any For mobos i dont know how to choose it Asus? Asrock? <- those are the ones afaik CURRENT BUILD Motherboard Dell 018D1Y CPU Intel Pentium Dual Core E5500 2.8Ghz GPU EVGA GTX 750 TI SC 2GB RAM DRR3 - 1333MHz 2GBx2, DDR3 - 1333Mhz 1GBx2--- Running at 800Mhz (NO LINK) STORAGE Western Digital 500GB Power Supply 500 Watts Power Supply (NO LINK) Case A Good case (Prof Pic) The last thing, i think any combination will be a huge step from a pentium dual core to a "recent" one Budged $200-$400 USD please recommend someting as least at the 200-300 budget range the other 100 are just in case of cases PD: I FORGOT MY POWER SUPPLY(500 Watts) HAS 2 MOLLEX CONNECTORS+ 2 SATA CONNECTORS + A 24 PIN CONNECTOR + A 4 PIN CONNECTOR IF A NEED A NEW PSU LET ME KNOW IT Super TL:DR: I want switch from a dell inspiron 560s to a 200 to 300 dlrs motherboard + cpu im not a super hardcore gamer, but i hate slowness CRAP I ALSO FORGOT I CAN ONLY BUY FROM AMAZON + EBAY

Alright, So i've been deciding whether I should get 2 970 G1 Gaming cards | OR | 2 980 G1 Gaming cards... I well like If i get the 970's i'll be missing a lot of performance.. but at the same time I feel like buying the 980's is a huge waste... Someone decide for me please.. Thanks Quinten! - Check out my Music Channel that I run ||| https://www.youtube.com/user/ChillingSpot/videos

Peeyuw, this 770 is getting stale. This is poor people GPU. I had to turn a setting down in a game so I need to upgrade.TODAY! #pcmasterraceproblems So there is this sexy thing called a Strix, right, the 970? Well it is a gorgeous piece of kit priced at a lovely £297. I could even get the £279 MSI card. (The bands I'd like to stick to) But shock horror when I see this amazing offer! SOMEONE RAISED THEIR DONGERS TOO FAST AND SPILT MILK ON THE KEYBOARD! Suffice to say, the accidentally discounted the MSI GTX980 by £50 to £420! That's a £120 more than I was willing to pay, but such a bargain, that the temptation is killing me. I might do it. The catch is, in the future, I am much more likely to be able to afford another 970, because 980 money does not come around too often. So I'm probably locking myself into this card near indefinitely. So quick opinions folks, what do you think? The 970, with easier affording of SLI in the future, or that discounted 980? Bearing in mind that for SLi i need a mobo upgrade and probably a power supply boost. (I got 600w) Should I even bother considering the 980? Is that extra dosh worth it considering I am currently at 1080p? (Next upgrade will be to 1440) I am completely open to other ideas if you have them.

So here is the build plan I have put together and will be making. In terms of my usage it will be for daily general use, occasional gaming and I love the Adobe suite so will be using that but mainly photoshop. I will also be doing a lot of coding with my uni course. I know that it may be quite overkill for what I need but I like that. It is my first build and I want it to be great and powerful. A lot of time, effort and pride will go into this. I have even changed some parts down to lesser versions e.g. RAM was 32gb not 16 (will likely add 16gb more at a later point though), SSD was 1 TB, HDD was 3TB, got rid of sound card as well as the wifi card (one comes with mobo). The monitor just serves mainly as a place holder (not that a place holder is needed) which I will likely change because I want a good 4k IPS for my photos and occasional games, will also possibly be an ultra wide as they look stunning. I will also want two or three monitors in the end. I am thinking I will water cool it and I will be custom sleeving all my cables. I already have the case which looks pretty damn good. I will be buying the parts over several months so I am able to have/save the funds. I am not bothered that it is expensive, I would rather save and pay more for exactly what I want. After all this will be my pride and joy. Another justification of the better parts is that throughout its life I will be improving and upgrading it so I want it to be able to take whatever I throw at it. E.g. If at some point I add stuff that send the wattage up, no issue with the PSU. So... this is going to be my first custom water cooling loop, and I am still totally blank minded as to the compatibility, performance and price. I want to water cool both my graphics cards, and CPU. The case is a Phantom 630... unless you know a better case that can fit at LEAST a 360 mm rad, and a 240 mm rad for the same price point. So, if anyone can give me a list of parts for a WHOLE custom loop, and under $850.Preferably hard-line tubing. I know it's a lot to ask for, but if ANYONE can help, it would be greatly appreciated!

After a year in a nursing home recovering from a micro-stroke (pro tip, kids: don't have a stroke, even a "micro" one) I have decided to splurge a bit on myself. Since a trip around the world is out of the question (travel in a wheelchair purely sucks) I'm going to indulge my geek side and replace the 4 year old collection of compromises (a "PC") that currently occupies space in my home office with something rather more extreme. As the title suggests, I'm not operating here with any particular fiscal constraints. I'm not going to spend $$$ for the mere sake of spending, and not everything I'm considering might be "latest & greatest." Use will be as my daily driver gaming editing bulk storage "do everything" machine. Display-wise, I've considered going 4K, but my eyesight, well... 1440p is likely to be my upper limit, which is why I didn't opt for a couple of 980Ti GPUs. My current rig is running dual 27" 1080p panels, I think three 27" 1440p panels wouldn't be out of line for an upgrade. (There will be a NAS onsite, eventually, and one offsite as well.) Though I had some initial questions about PCIe lane usage and RAID cards, I think I have that all worked out now by the switch to s/w RAID on the HDDs. Not apparent in the above (admittedly incomplete) list is that I intend to overclock and dual-loop water cool this thing. Because reasons. Yeah, it'll cost. I don't care. Everyone needs a hobby, right? I don't see any actual conflicts in this list. My chief concerns at this point are: the 5930K's 40 PCIe lanes... really necessary beyond the 5820K's 28 lanes? x16 + x16 + x4 (GPU+GPU+M.2) versus x16 + x8 + x4... that would leave no wiggle room. whether dual 970s are going to be gutsy enough for triple 1440p displays at 120-144Hz. the SSds in RAID1 -- I'm considering doubling the number of SSDs and switching to RAID10. Memory speed is a bit of a mystery to me. No idea if 2800 is right, wrong, or somewhere in the grey area between. Thoughts?

something i'm being bothered about right now, TLDR: Would a top tier flagship GPU be an overkill for a 1080p 60hz monitor? Okay..Story time... making a build for a guy who already has a good ips monitor, but it is locked at 60 hz @1080p , he wants a pretty solid gpu to go along with it & has a decent amount of cash saved up for it so that is not an issue, (originally planing on 390x or a fury x from amd side or 980 or 980 ti from the green side), He's been saving it up for a while with intention of buying the best, (other build components already locked are an i7 & ridiculous 16 gigs of ram & an overkill 1000 watts psu (hey atleast he'll get a pretty decent 12v amperage) ) asked me for help on the whole thing , (unfortunately i reccommended all of those i said above  ) But chugging through some benchmarks online for a GPU portion, showed most of the games pumped out like insane amounts 140+ on BF4 etc & some/few on ultra settings getting the good ol 60fps treatement so my question would be if he were to buy one ubertastic GPU to go along with that gpu would that be stupid? or should i pursuade him to get a mid range GPU

I'm moving to a new Apartment and i have one wall that is perfect for a giant TV, but since i don't watch TV i thought of mounting a monitor array. I am planning to connect 9 4k (3840x2160) monitors to my PC. At the moment i only have a gtx 970 and i am absolutely positive, that it will do a awesome job at suffering with all this. What graphic card(s) do i need, to game in full resolution on all 9 monitors (11520x6480)? So which graphics card would fit my needs and how many are needed? I might even want a 10th (probably 1080p) monitor for office operation, but more likely i get a second PC for that.
