Having a bit of problem with windows update. My download is stuck at 100% for 3 hours now. I've tried restarting to redownload the update. But it got stuck again at Downloading - 100%. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? Also, in my windows update screen "Some settings are managed by your organization" this message is being shown. When I click "View configured update policies" it says 'Exclude drivers from Windows quality updates'. I don't know why this is showing. Can anyone tell me how can I fix it? Or is there any need to fix this? Since I don't want windows to update my drivers.

Hello everyone! I'm currently trying to figure out a solid file structure for my multi-media team. This involves 2 designers, 2 video producers / animators, 1 blog-writer, 1 marketing manager. The content that we produce vary from internal live events to external animation videos. I was thinking of separating each folder by projects with sub-folders with each individual department, but this would result in one super folder with hundreds of project folders inside of it. Any suggestions on how we can organize these folder to make it easy to navigate and easy to find specific files. How do you have your file structure laid out? Sorry if this type of question doesn't belong here, I figure that it doesn't hurt to ask the community. Thanks to everyone in advance!

Hi, I have some PCI-E devices, graphics cards, audio cards and such that I need to store on a shelf or something, similar to one of those RAM boxes. Example use, I have a GPU I need to repair but don't have the tools yet for the time being It would be nice to slot it in to a shelf were it can use minimal amount of space next to some other GPUs for testing and such (or in between builds) I have been looking online but just get results relating to SSDs... I would be willing to make something but I am not sure I have the resources to do so. Sorry I am not the best writer. Thank you in advanced though.

Hello LTT forum I have a bit of a mountainous task ahead of me. I'm asking if there's a way to make if more efficient/organize. Because of the pandemic right now we been scrambling to create an online store for the school and office supply store my family owns. I been tasked to picture the items we have to put on the website we're making. I've been given an excel file of our inventory it contains around 8,000 items (I'm just picturing around thousand or two thousand items), is there a program where it can take an item's name from the excel sheet, then create a folder/file system where I could just drop the pictures I taken? or any alternative way that a program could pair an item name from the excel file to picture/s? Thanks for any points to the right direction

Hello Linus et al, I was hoping LTT would do a video/series to show us how they organize and store their equipment, track it, etc. We struggle with optimizing space for racks, carts, and workbench. Thank you! Sandy

It isn’t difficult to notice how Linus carries his Razer Blade literally everywhere, so I’m starting to get curious about how he organizes his ideas and videos on it, which apps/programs he uses for that purpose and really take a peek into it...

So I've been working on reorganizing and restructuring my inventory management system at work for all of our IT equipment, and it is turning into a nightmare. Ideally, I'd love to have a barcode scanner where I can print off barcodes and assign them to individual assets, and also place them on shared equipment so that users can check out equipment and I can keep track of who was the last person in our department to use it. Now granted, our IT department isn't huge, and I'm looking at about 500-700 total assets. Right now they have physical asset tags with a number, and I have to search that item based on that number in an Excel sheet. I'd really like it if I could have everything in a SQL database or something similar where I can add detailed descriptions of some of our more complex assets (like install date, last service, item specifications, etc), such as our desktops and servers. I was wondering if anyone knew or had experience with any low cost options so that I could better organize my system.

Hello all, New to the SSD idea and look forward to adding one to my current project. I hear the main benefit is faster load times, but that's all I have heard. So my question is where should I keep which files on my computer. ( for example lets say I'm playing fallout 4 right now.) would i install the entire game onto my SSD for optimization? Also is it beneficial to install the OS onto your SSD or not. Like I said I'm completely new to this storage method. Don't wanna waste the money for something i don't know how to use. Plan to use : Samsung 850 Evo 250 GB SSD

I remember seeing a TV advertisement a few years back about a scanner that would automatically catalog the documents it scanned, making them easily searchable. I'm looking for a scanner with this functionality today, or software that will perform the same task. Is there a scanner out there that has built-in organization functionality? If no, is there software that will organize documents scanned normally? I am looking to scan mostly documents on regular sized paper, but the ability to scan receipts would be nice as well.

So has anyone come across this irritating thing in windows 10 where out of the blue, you cant change certain settings in menus like display settings or lock screen wallpapers, with a message telling you in similar words "certain settings are restricted by your organization's policy" or some crap. I've had a few machines on my fleet come back with this irritating feature and can't find a quick way round it, i've been re-imaging them every bloody time and its getting annoying. Help plz ?

I have so many cables from audio (3.5mm, optical, component and various other), display, networking, usb and more. I am ordering cable ties (the Velcro ones) in 100 pack 8inch by 1/2inch. Any other ideas or suggestions on how to store them? I also heard putting them in plastic bags also helps. Thanks a lot!

I built my new PC on Tuesday, and at the time was too excited to pay attention to cable management, so it was atrocious. What you see now is the effort of an hour and a half to get it cleaned up, but I do believe that it could be better, I just don't know how. I realize the green ties are atrocious, and those will be changed out later. But any other cable-management tips would be welcome. Thanks.

I usually switch between my messenger bag and my bookbag quite often and need a simpler way of organizing accessories within each bag and possibly simpler way of transfering everything between the two. I have a timbuk 2 command (very spacious, but not a lot of ways to organize accessories) and i have a targus bag (dont remember model, its smaller and well organized for accessories, but again, not alot of space). How do you keep your stuff organized in your laptop bags and if you change bags often how do you go about quickly moving stuff around?

Intro Hello, I realize this might be a strange thread to be on the LTT forums, but it's tech related and I need help. So I thought it would be worth-while for our household as well as others who want a similar solution to ask here. The Problem I'm mainly helping out my father who has literally tens of cubic feet of paper that needs to be better organized. Hopefuly the solution will also help the rest of the family to be better organized when it comes to paperless document organization as well. The trick is that we already have a printer that has a quality document scanner that is relatively quick and we don't want to invest in another scanner with proprietary hardware/software (i.e. Neat Scanner). The workflow When it comes to high-efficiency paper scanning and organization using a DMS (Document Management System) there are a few components that need to be considered and setup before scanning. A backup system like a NAS The scanner: Does it scan both sides quickly? Does it make corrections like straightening out pages on the fly? A paper shredder The DMS Where I need help I have a temporary backup solution which I hope to improve upon by investing in a Synology DiskStation NAS with some Seagate NAS drives. I have a scanner that scans both sides relatively quickly although it doesn't automatically make corrections. I have a great paper shredder. The part I'm having the hardest time finding is a relatively cheap, home-use Document Management System. Something that automatically take the scanned documents and use OCR, index, label, and organize the documents so that they could be searched and found quickly and easily. DMS It would be great if the DMS could: Save the final, indexed documents in PDF form for compatibility. Work with MS Office programs (OneNote) Something like eFileCabinet except without the cloud stuff, the price tag, and all the extra features. While nice, it's business orientated instead of home oriented which makes it way more expensive. I will be paying close attention to this thread and hopefully we can make a super-cool paperless scanning and organizing workflow. Don't be shy. Even if you don't know anything about DMS systems I'm sure you guys will have some other suggestions, which I'm open to.

I work in a medium sized company doing general IT work for them. A lot of my work involves working with a wide variety of hardware, from Micros POS terminals, to self serve kiosks, and office workstations. As a result, we have a ton of various parts lying around, with very little organization. We've got entire shelves full of Epson thermal receipt printers, but nobody knows which ones work, and which ones do not. We are always scrambling trying to find specific cables, and not being able to find the kind we need. Overall, the organization here is a mess, and I've been tasked to fix that. As I was watching the moving Vlogs for LTT, I saw that they have a similar situation, with lots of different parts of different shapes and sizes stored all over their new warehouse. I remember in the earlier videos they mentioned how they were inventorying everything they have in a spreadsheet in google docs. In my personal life, I'm not a very organized person, and it works because I really don't have that much stuff, so I can keep track of it all in my head. But here at work, there is way more stuff to keep track of, and more people that need to know where everything is. If any of the LTT staff are reading this, could you possibly share the details of how your new office organization is set up? Specifically, I would like to see how your spreadsheet is set up, how you handle signing out parts, and what bins and shelves you are using to store all of the parts.

I didn't know where else to post this, but anybody have tips to organize file storage drives? I've got three drives, and I'm often stuck finding the drive with the file I need on it. I have no idea what the best way is to categorize/organize my files to be able to grab the right drive, every time.

Not sure if this is the proper forum but im looking for some ballin ass photo organization software. My wallpaper collection is hitting a 5-6k file mark and honestly im struggling to make sure i dont have duplicates and/or find proper sizes (only major sizes i have are for 1,2 and 3 screens). I'd also like the ability to sort them by show/game (its mostly anime related shit cause shuttup)/genre if possible and maybe have the software actually move the files and organize them like what foobar does to music. Maybe im asking to much? any tips are appreciated. Edit: just thought of something, i may want the software to NOT physically move and organize the files but only organize itself within the software due to windows wanting to pull all the wallpaper files from the same folder (have them all on a 5 minute shuffle)
