Hello. I have a NZXT H710 case. My setup now is: - Intake: NZXT 3xAer F120 Case Version, with dust filter in front. - Exhaust: 3x120 Noctua NF-A12x25mm at top (over the radiator NZXT X73) and NZXT 1xAer F140 Case Version in the rear of the case. The NZXT Case version fans, is not PWM, and I want to have PWM fans for better control. I thinking about changing the AER intake fans with Noctua fans, but I don't know if I am going to replace the 3 fans with 2x140mm or 3x120mm. Would I get better cooling if I am going for 2x140mm (Noctua NF-A14 PWM) or would it be better to go with 3xNF-A12x25? In the "bottom" of the case I have 2x3,5 HDD and the PSU, so the fan at det bottom is cooling the HDD.

i want to cool a very hot 10900k. i saw the vid what do you need to cool the 10900k. and i am using a NHU12S . what should i use for a fan for the other side?

Hello. First of all, sorry if my english is bad! I have recently build a new computer, spec is: Case: NZXT H710 (non i version). Motherboard: ASUS B500 -F Gaming WiFi CPU: Ryzen 3700X (due to shortage of 5600X and 5800X) CPU Cooler: NZXT X73 top mounted in the case, and the fans is on the top of the rad as exhaust. Memory: 16GB (2x8) HyperX 3200MHz CL18 (planning to upgrade to 32GB (2x16GB) 3200mhz or 3600mhz CL18,17,16,). GPU: MSI GeForce 970 4GB Gaming (from my old computer, due to shortage of gpu's). PSU: Corsair AX 760 (from my old computer). So to my question: Radiator fans: 3x120mm NZXT AER 120mm PWM fans. These are pretty noisy and I hear them good from about 1150/ 1200rpm and more, and that is kind of frustrating. I thinking about to change these 3 fans to start with, and I thinking about to change to Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM fans. Will this be a good choice? Or should I go for Noctua NF-P12 PWM instead? The fans is going to be placed on the top of the rad as exhaust, I think. I don't want to place the rad in the front of the case.. I also consider to change the 3 120mm case versions in the front, also with Noctua, but I am not sure if I am going to change those 3 fans with 2 140mm fans, or 3 120mm. Also here I thinking about Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM or Noctua NF-A14 PWM or NF-P12 PWM. But this change may be later, as the noise from the case fans is not to bad. Front case fans is original: 3 of NZXT AER 120 case version (non pwm I think, they are 3.pin so I have set DC in BIOS) in front. Don't think this is to noisy. (yet) Back case is original: 1 of NZXT AER 140 case version (non pwm, I think, they are 3.pin so I have set DC in BIOS) in the back. Don't think this is to noisy. (yet) I'm happy if anyone will help me to a decision about which Noctua fans I should buy.

Hello guys, I'm trying to do the "opposite". I have a 12v fan with PWM and a board with a fan header of 5v+PWM. The board also has a separate 12v pin somewhere else (not a fan header and no PWM here). My idea would be to draw the power from the 12v side and the PWM+TACH from the 5v side but I'm not sure if the PWM from the 5v side would work on 12v. Can anyone confirm that? Thank you

So my gpu became much hotter like 5c increase than it was when i was using the amd stock cooler This was my first time building and im just wondering because playing warzone with the stock cooler i got up to 74-75c but now it got much hotter

Hi everyone, I just upgraded the fans on my Corsair H100i aio for greater performance. They are in a push confirmation at the top of the case like everything was before. My question however is when I put my hand on the outside of the case to check airflow there is only air coming from the right side of the radiator as if the other side is blocked. I was curious is this normal or is this something I need to fix. Thank you

Greetings community, I was simply wandering which is a better thermal paste, obviously right now the NT-H1 is a much better value, but is it better, as good, or worse than Kryonaut? Hey everyone! I recently made a new build and I have a Lian Li Lancool II Mesh Performance, so far no complaints other than the fans which rattle like crazy so I'll be upgrading them. Basically I've looked at either the NF-A14 and the Silent Wings 3 (PWM) and I have no idea which to buy. I treasure silence a lot since I have quite sensitive ears, so if any of you could tell me which one of those is a better choice for silence i'd be extremely grateful! If there are other models that suit my needs and that can be bought from amazon.es then feel free to recommend them to me

Budget (including currency): ∞ Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Pushing 8 4k screens I am about to start using as a new trade wall. Might get a gaming display if I ever find the time to game. Other details (Already have most of it built, didn't have much trouble figuring out what components I wanted. Motherboard used some asus ROG board that was always at the top of the list. CPU grabbed an AMD threadripper something something x that I was told was the best off of eBay. RAM chucked in a few hundred or so gbs of trident g.skill royal that was also definitively the best GPUs grapped of couple of FE 3090s off the bay, god I love ebay I can get ANYTHING. Storage had my dude put in a couple of 8tb corsair nvme mp400s and raid em. COOLING and this is where I come to an impasse. So my dude is going to run me a copper cooling loop and fix up the ihs on my cpu and tool up my gpus. BUT the case fans have me stuck. What are the best case fans money can buy? I am stuck between going with a bunch of Noctuas or a bunch of the Corsair magnetic levitation fans. But in the real world, which is more effective at cooling? Anyway, coming up on I don't have much time for this I need to get back to work. Give me your thoughts. If you need more details on the machine I'll have my dude send me the full list of everything I bought and what exactly it was. -
Hey, new to the forum here - I've built one PC before in my life - in an NZXT S340 case, which comes with two of NZXT's FN V2 airflow fans, one at the top and one behind the GPU. Both are connected by molex as part of the case. The rear one has failed, and the top one is grinding, so it's time. So I know just enough to know Noctua fans are well-regarded, thus the Redux fans (one P14 1500RPM on top, one P12 1700RPM in the rear since the top and rear support different sizes, and the RPM difference purely because those are the top speeds for each). So question 1: should I not be buying the fastest fans they offer, since they're all at the same price? Is there a good reason to buy a 1200 RPM P14 for a case fan instead of a 1500 RPM? Is it just louder? Question 2 (main question): These fans have optional silicone "anti-vibration pads" that are an extra $7 for 14 ct? So me, DIY person, says "well I can get silicone gaskets for stuff, I went through that with finding food/heat-safe stuff for homebrewing fittings" but the threads I read online point to the SCREW being the culprit, hence the silicone "screws" that Noctua and other companies sell. So...do I need one, both, or neither of those if I use a plain silicone o-rings/washers, which I know how to find? I'm never going to see these things.

i have spent 6 months on this. context - no money limitation! i am planning on a build while waiting for zen 4 (more specifically drr5 rams with rtx 40 series or it's gpu rivals, i believe 30 series is still not mature enough, it feels like NVIDIA did same mistake AMD did with zen 2 but on purpose!). and i have already fixed some parts which i am going to use in the build - Case - Meshify 2 xl Psu - Corsair 1600axi Fans - Noctua nf-a12x25 for 360mm rad. (yes i will be putting rad inside the case on top side, for those who don't know arctic has increased their warranty from 3 to 6 years!) Fan configuration - front pull, top and back push out ___________________________________________ Questions - 1) should i also opt nf-a12x25s for intake in front or there 140mm fans are better for intake (plz keep in mind this meshify front comes with nylon filter too) the case i am talking about - https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/meshify/meshify-2-xl-dark-tempered-glass/black/ it's manual - https://www.fractal-design.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Meshify_2_XL_Manual-v.1-2020-05-13.pdf it's product sheet - https://www.fractal-design.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Meshify-2-XL-_Product-Sheet_EN.pdf in short, " which is better 4xNF-a12*25 pwm or 3xNF-a14 for intake? " ____________________________________________________________ 2) how does one control fan speed (in this case noctua's nf-a12x25 pwm) can i control there speed using software? (i want to control their speed individually) [i don't want to be limited to only 1700 and 2000 rpm modes] darn it blackout here, will update soon. edit* (after the blackout) no money limitation! share with me all the suggestions/info you have - i just want performance (but not too much noise either) __________________________________________________________ o Radiator and Fans 3) if i want to use 420-arctic freezer ii a) should i change fans on radiator with NF-a12x25s or with nf-a14-pwm? ,yes i am definitely going to change which come with arctic! two cases, which fans win in each case? a1) full speed of fans at all times a2) fan speed locked at 75% *Remember the fans will be mounted on radiator and will be used as exhaust, radiator will be placed at top. fans used in this case - https://noctua.at/en/products/fan/nf-a12x25-pwm https://noctua.at/en/products/fan/nf-a14-pwm {your answers/replies will decide whether i would go with 360 or 420 version of arctic freezer} x-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------x If I had to build now i would go with following parts - cpu - 5900x or 5950x motherboard - tch........ now that's the main problem here but most definitely ASUS DARK HERO gpu - a6000 or 3080 or 3090 (i think 3090 need more optimization, drivers and games, it's gddr6x memory sure is enticing) yeah..... it's not possible.... since out of stock! ram - 32 or 64 gb from g.skill or corsair clocked at 3600mhz cl-14 or cl-16 (honestly i am searching for samsung b-die versions) psu - corsair's 1600axi hdd - i want 20tb free storage so i would try to get 25tb storage sata not sas (i would mostly like go with multiple exos drives here) ssd - Two Nvme drives each with 2tb storage Two ssds (optional) longevity is what i want,it's undecided on which i am gonna use. case - meshify 2 xl (since is has more options when it comes to upgrading in future..... i guess ) aio - arctic freezer ii 360 or 420 cables from cablemod (although i would have to check if they are available here in INDIA, i really want some good replacement cables for psu, not extension) Kind of like this , To open this reddit link i guess you will have to RIGHT CLICK and OPEN IN NEW TAB or you can just search Fractal Design Meshify 2 XL: Storage Layout reddit (12 days old post, 18 comments) Thanks for your help. ----- yours faithfully Orian Pax

Hi all. I am building a new home server and have the ASRock Rack E3C246D4M-4L motherboard and the Noctua NH-U9S cooler in a 4U case. I am trying to install the cooler to the motherboard, and when I go to put on the backplate, the bolts will not go through the holes around the socket at all. I tried pushing a bit but it seems like this should just slide through. Am I missing something? Is this cooler just not compatible? If so, how can I tell if a different cooler will be compatible? I don't really want to change motherboards because I want IPMI, onboard video, and plenty of SATA/PCIe and to support my Xeon E-2146G.

Hey there, I'am currently building a small DIY NAS for all my files. For Mainboard I wanna use a X570D4U from ASRockRack because its ECC support and IPMI features. At the beginning of the project I bought myself a Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4, cause I have had very good experience with it on my previous PC build. After I watched some Reviews of the Mobo and looked a little bit deeper into the pics, I saw that the RAM Slots and the CPU Fan mounting brackets are, due to better cooling in server cases turned by 90° on this board. But if I would install my CPU Fan like so, it would ventilate from the bottom of the case to the top or vice versa. So finally, is there anybody out there, who encountered this problem before or know, if I can turn my Fan by 90° degree to align it with the airflow in my case ? Thank You !

Hello! I'd like some opinions on how my cooling is doing. My idle temp according to RyzenMaster is roughly 35 C, which is very nice and comfortable. However some things get it surprisingly warm for a while (Such as simply opening chrome). Here's my full PC specs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jqokqxe0B0o One thing to note is that my Noctua NH-D15 only has one of the two fans installed due to space issues with my setup. I believe i have pretty solid airflow, with 2 frontal case fans as intake, 2 top fans, and 1 back fan as exhaust. (following the Noctua cooler's airflow direction) So yeah. I'd just like people's thoughts on how it's doing. Because I am very happy with some temps (Like the idle temp, and even PC VR games run at 55 C), but some are less thrilling. Somehow launching Minecraft gets my CPU to 75-77 C which it has only gotten to that before when doing a large batch of intensive FFMPEG tasks. Thanks!

Ahoy! (I hope this is the right category for this?) It's late at night and that means I am ready to upgrade my computer. I have acquired a Noctua NH-D15S CPU cooler to replace my Stock AMD cooler, as well as a new case; the Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact - or as I like to call it: a mouthful. I am prepared to build it, I got all kinda tools and everything, but I wanted to ask the community, what would your steps be to take on this endeavor? I hope me asking this isn't trivial or whatever, I am just a bit nervous is all. This is my first time doing a case transfer. Thank you for your help! EDIT: The upgrade has been completed! I successfully installed the new CPU Cooler and swapped all my components into the new case. It is wonderfully quiet and works flawlessly now. I will now note however the things that caused me issues or other noteworthy things: Firstly, the fact that there are 300 billion types of screws that came shipped with the case, are not labelled. I mean if you look in the manual it vaguely says what the screw is and where it goes, but the shape is not always clear.. I am still not completely sure if I installed the right screws into the MB, but they screwed in smoothly, so I guess it's fine? Talking about the screwing in, it was a nightmare. The screwholes barely aligned unless I forced the MB to rotate just enough so that the screws could fit inside. And what also did not help, was the fact that the top center screw could not be screwed in, as the cooler interfered with it. Sooo now I am missing one screw but I guess it's fine? Also the center screw could not be used. There's this nipple thing in the case which protrudes outwards, so that one screw would not be necessary. Soo now I have two screws laying about collecting dust I guess. Whatever. What was also a bit nightmarish was the power button. These tiny single-pin connectors were so tough to plug inside.. and to *stay* inside. What also didn't help was the location of the SYS-FAN1 connector. It's near the center of the MB. And the cable for the front-fans is too short to reach, soo I can't really control them in Dragon Center. If I were to get some fan hub I guess I could control them, but I honestly don't think that's necessary. That's it. It took me about four hours in total, from disassembling the old case and components to inserting them all in the new one. It was an enlightening experience, and I am very happy with the outcome. I would like to thank the user kb5zue for assisting me in this process. It is people like him that help me reinforce the belief, that nice people do exist out there, and we can all come together to help each other out, even the inexperienced. Thank you so very much. This is Ralph, signing out.

Hey, I want to replace my stock fans on my gtx1060 3gb with some noctua chromax ones. I think 92mm would be the best option. Now I don't know wich 92mm noctua fan I should get. Does anyone know wich one is the best?

I’ve thought about it long and hard, and I’ve decided to use liquid metal between my 12700K and NH-D15. Think I’m going to initially start with Noctua NT-H1 that came with my NH-D15. This is because I’ve sourced components from a variety of retailers and I want to make sure the system can get up and running before risking LM. It will also give me a chance to act as a comparison to LM. I’ll aim to run NT-H1 for a couple of months then switch to LM and I’ll try and keep this thread updated with stats and any issues I run into. The question I have for you lovely people is: which LM shall I use? Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut or Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra? Based on a) cooling performance, and b) effect on IHS and heatsink; i.e. corrosion, absorption, welding, alloying, staining, pitting, ‘drying out’, and all the other buzz words we use to describe what happens. No need to repeat the chemical reactions and the fact LM doesn’t technically ‘dry’ etc. I’m basically just looking for opinions (first hand if possible) on whether there would be a perceivable difference in either. (I have an unopened Liquid Ultra from a few years ago that looks ok and just bought Conductonaut for £8. If the consensus is there will be no perceivable difference I’ll probably return the Conductonaut and save the £8, but if it’s ever so slightly weighing in on Conductonaut’s favour I’ll prob go with that. In for a penny in for a pound and all that.) IHS is nickel plated obviously and the NH-D15 heat plate is nickel plated copper as well so nickel on nickel. Oh, and any application tips will be greatly received! I’ve heard carefully massaging it into both surfaces before mating does the trick? (Still talking about the LM btw). Thanks! J

I saw the new Noctua 3070 and thought what a waste, why not put that configuration on a hot/loud card.... so I did. I'm new to 3D printing and modeling so it's not perfect but it's what I can do. So dam quiet now, I hated the 3 fans. Cooling was never an issue but it helped with that too. It's an EVGA 3080Ti FTW3 Ultra. I need to run some tests for accurate numbers but right off the bat, cooler and SO QUIET. It's chunky but so is the official Noctua version. 120mm fans are thick. Btw fans are white, camera pick them up as purple. Cheapo fans.

Hey! Here's my updated list, I just got the 3080 so there's the point of no return. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QjN9fP Important is that it's a quiet build, I initially wanted to give it a nice look with distinct RGB, but then realized the updated CPU 5900x needs as much cooling as it could possibly get so here are my two questions: 1. What RAM do you recommend for this build? Initially aiming for the Trident Neo 3600 CL16 but realized that 1a) they might not fit depending on the cooler I choose. 1b) they might not be visible depending on the cooler I choose. 2. What cooler would you recommend? It's like a vicious cycle I am stuck in right now and could need some help, haha. Thanks guys!

hi i decided to burn some money, and replaced my replacement arctic fans (drilled onto the shroud) with noctua fans (this time mounted with zips onto the heatsink). some titles torture my gpu with on my ultrawide, so i thought a fan on the heatsink with bigger static pressure might cool down 5 degrees. or just let me run at a lower rpm. the results? unimpressive. ive been testing my fan placements recently, and have some over ambient data (ill upload them as well later). the temps are about the same. the noise is kind of the same. if i cant hear the difference, no point measuring it. the most disappointing thing is the subtle whine/tone pule when the fans run above 70%. it is really low level, but since im in a quiet room these noise pulses are noticeable. like when a "laser goes back and forth, just as a quiet sound instead" if it makes any sense. this was the same reason i did the 1st mod with the arctic fans. the stock fans were terrible the tone pulse was noticeable at 19%. then on a diffrent day it was noticeable at 18%. so i was watching youtube, then that thing started to make noise cause why not. using 0 rpm was not an option, because it would heat up anyway sooner or later, and the fan startup noise was annoying too. so what do you think? how could i improve my temps? would putting the fans on the shroud help? its a lot of hassle with zip ties, so i did this post. now i set it at 1490MHz instead of the stock 1560, and reduced the voltage a bit as well. kombuster with cpu burner made it to 79 with acceptable noise levels. playing no mans sky uncapped put it at 75, with only 1300 rpm. thanks!

Besides the little bump in price is there any reason to not get the NH-15 straight up and then just not use the 2nd fan if it doesn't fit? Cooler going in a Lian Li o11 Mini, AM4 ATX board with Corsair Vengeance RGB RAM Thank you

So i have a need for a bit more air into my case. The verdict seems to be that you get same volume, more pressue. Surely if you suck harder you move more air i wonder.. The inlet is after all the same size. Does anyone have hans on experience or a video to link to?
