I currently have an MSI z370 gaming plus motherboard with a 5700xt, i7 9700k, 16GB RAM and a 750W Corsair CX. This motherboard is from the last generation of motherboards and I would like to upgrade to current gen. First off do I need to upgrade to current gen for ideal performance if I want a 3070? Second question is if I do upgrade what is a good 100 to 140 dollar motherboard for the 3070. All help is appreciated, thanks!

Hi everyone I live on a island so the climate is humid, and today when I was going to clean my desktop I noticed some kind of water on the I/O cover, on the back of the Gpu (backplate) and on top of the case (inside, was dry). PC specs: Asus Rog Strix B360-f gaming; i5-8400; Gigabyte 1660 super; NZXT S340; Intake fans: 2x Noctua NF-A14 140mm; Output fans: 2x In Win Polaris 120mm. I use the stock Intel cooler and have set up the case fans for a positive pressure, right now since the weather here is still warm during games the CPU gets around 70°C and the GPU around 75°C. I've had this PC for a year and a half and I never had this problem before, to everyone who experienced this before or has any hints I would appreciate it. Thanks. I was playing Forza Horizon 4 just today and the PC was working just fine.

Hi, I'm thinking about adding an m.2 to my computer, I have a msi b360m pro-vdh and in the msi website it says it is supports PCIe 3.0 4x and Sata 6Gb/s. My questions is if I can install an m.2 that has NVMe, I was considering the 1TB Crucial P2. I appreciate the help.

Basically it rain HARD last night, we had no power and such, and I think the windows are not properly sealed because it's noticeably humid, now the next day i try to turn on my PC and it's not doing so and oddly enough the case is grounded, I tried different outlets and it's still not powering on, i followed some videos online and jumped the power supply and the fan spins but when I try to jump the motherboard it's not working, basically I'm asking for a second opinion, my motherboard is broken right? Should I be worried about the other components like cpu and gpu? Did moisture killed my motherboard?

I'm sorry if I don't explain myself very well, english is not my first language. My specs are the following: CPU: AMD Athlon 3000g with vega radeon graphics GPU: none Motherboard: Gigabyte A3020M-SH2 RAM: Kingston fury 1x8gb DDR4 Power supply: AC-925235_1 HDD: Western digital WD10EURX-63UY4Y0 (1TB) I have installed everything, everything is connected and it is connected to my monitor via VGA, when I power my pc on, the cpu fan spins, my RGB mouse and keyboard turn on, but the leds in font of the case won't turn on, and nothing appears on the monitor, i have tried to unplug and plug every cable, checked the cpu and its cooler, the power suppy to be on, and the monitor powered on, honestly I have no idea what's happening and would appreciate if someone can help me. (Attached images of the build "running" and my monitor not showing anything)

I was disassembling my old pc and when I tried to remove the cpu cooler it ripped the cpu out and left 6 pins in the motherboard. Any suggestions on how to get the pins out? I tried a pair of precision tweezers but not enough grip. Im not going to be using the motherboard and cpu again but I’m hoping to be able to resell the motherboard if I can get the pins out.

Hello, I have been experiencing issues wit my PC recently. My Pc would just gone to the shutdown screen after awhile. I thought It was the PSU l, so I replaced it with a new one just a couple days ago, but the problem's still there. I have also cleaned my PC to make sure It's not a heat problem to no avail. The temperature is around 29 degrees when idle. Could It be the motherboard? I have just replaced the motherboard last December. This problem occured after I updated my graphics driver, I have tried to roll back, but it also didn't work. Here's my specs: MSI A320M A-PRO RYZEN 3 2200G 16 GB RAM 128 GB TEAM ELITE SATA SSD 512 GB ADATA M.2 NVME SSD CORSAIR CX450M 450W PSU Thank you. UPDATE: I'm not sure what happened, but the problem has been solved. I tried to reseat everything one more time and the random shutdowns is now gone, this didn't work last time.

Hello to the LTT community. I probably flashed wrong bios on my girlfriend's laptop using the latest Lenovo software. I never had any problems updating bios on my laptop, I've done it several times. I selected the bios file that came with the software i didn't download any other files. After the update was complete the laptop got bricked. When starting it the screen won't even power on. No backlight at all. I tried connecting to HDMI, with and without the charger. I tried holding the power button. Now I really want to open the laptop to check for a dual bios switch or something like on PC motherboards, but i know that's going to void her warranty and she's not okay with it. I'm hoping we can still flash it somehow. We're going to send it to the warranty guys but that's going to take forever and she really needs that laptop ( I want to give her my pc or laptop but she says no XD ) Right now I'm trying to drain the battery, the laptop is running and the fans are spinning quite fast.

I am upgrading my pc's CPU and motherboard. I was just curious about the steps to take afterwards with my storage. I have a total of 3 storage drives on my pc. My C: Drive which contains my windows and some system files. And my other 2 drives contain all my games, videos, and photos. I am planning to format my C: drive (the one that contains windows) as to not let any software problems occur and so that all the drivers could be freshly installed for my new components. I am just wondering if adding the two other drives with all my games, files etc. after formatting the C: drive would work like normal in my computer, or would it require me to redownload my apps? And would my regular files such as videos and photos be alright?

>Greetings. The following happened and I’m running out of ideas and solutions, I need help from the PC gods here. First of all my spec list: Ryzen 9 3900X Nvidia RTX Titan MB Gigabyte x570s AERO G Phanteks Revolt X PH-P1000PS Platinum 1000 watts 64GBs of RAM Gskill ripjaws at 3200 mhz with XMP CL16 (x4 16GB sticks) x2 M.2 WD_Black SN 850 NVMe x4 Samsung 860 EVO SSDs x2 Seagate Barracuda HDD Both GPU and CPU are water-cooled in a custom loop DDC low noise pump 520 mm in radiator space x2 120mm and x3 140mm fans x2 Phanteks neon rgb strips (and Evolv X included RGB) Windows 10 and POP OS dual boot. My PC has been running alright for a couple of years until Monday. I was working as usual when I opened a hangouts call. Audio connected (I could hear everybody) but right before getting into the video room my screen froze. The audio was running and the mouse was still moving. After waiting for a couple of minutes and trying to get to task manager or alt-f4, I decided to do a hard reset (video still frozen). Right before that happened, mouse pointer froze and I noticed video artifacts on the screen, small purple bars evenly spread in various columns. PC rebooted and I could not get video anymore, not even a splash screen, no BIOS, no post. I noticed the VGA status led was on. I tried a few more hard resets, checked display and power cables, still no luck. This is what I’ve tried so far, nothing has worked yet. Reset GPU on it’s socket, unplugged PCIE power cables took out all ram sticks, retried with just one changed DP and HDMI cables Tried on several different monitors unplugged all 5V RGB LED strips reset and cleared CMOS plugged GPU without power connectors, just PCIe After this I started testing with other components. I got an Nvidia MSI geforce 210 (I know XD it’s a cereal box GPU but it’s just for debugging). I tried the small gpu on all PCIe slots and none got video output. Vga LED was on all the time. This GPU is 100% confirmed to work elsewhere. I tried testing on another MB. I took my CPU and the 210 gpu and they worked on a MSI B550m Mortar. It did post and setup into the BIOS, however there was something unusual. The GPU would only work if it was on the second PCIe slot, the one that goes to the chipset. It wont do anything on the first socket and the vga led (on the b550 Mortar) will light up. Does this mean CPU problems? No matter how many times I tried, the GPU won’t work on the main PCIe slot. Back to the Gygabite x570, nothing works. Not even on the chipset PCIe slots (this is what made think it was a MB problem initially). Confirmed that neither the 210 nor the Titan output any video, VGA led is always on. What could be the problem? What is potential solution, and how could this happen in the first place? The system has been running alright for months I don’t know what caused all this mess. It’s always clean, no OC. Tomorrow I will try testing everything again with a Ryzen 7 3700X and a GTX 1070 to try and locate the failing component. Fingers crossed, my Titan is alright… Thanks so much for your attention.

after clearing the CMOS to stop my PC from freezing after I use it for a long time, my PC stopped posting after having 2 RAM sticks inserted in the correct DIMM slots with the motherboard light stuck on DRAM, it only booted with 1 stick. I swapped the sticks to see if one of them was defective but both booted individually fine. Tried different DIMM slots and no luck. I've also tried re-seating the CPU with didn't work either. i would like to buy a new desktop pc, and it is very hard to me to decide what to buy because i have many questions. the use: programming and data science. cpu: intel alder lake i5 12600k or 12700/12700k ram: 64gb ddr4 storage: ssd pcie 4.0 1TB (probably western union sn850) maybe in future: gpu (currently thinking about using the one from the cpu) 1. i probably won't be doing overclocking, but i am concerned about the base frequency of non k (12700) 2.10 GHz compared to 12700k 3.60 GHz. does looking at the base matter, or will it always be at max speed anyway (turbo) without overclocking? can't decide between k and non k series. 2. it is very hard to me to choose the right cooling for the cpu, i do know that i don't want to do maintenance very often i am afraid of water spilling out ruining my pc, but the alder lake cpu's heat easily and i really don't want cpu throttling, can i get advice on choosing cpu cooling? 3. also very hard to choose motherboard, conflicted between H670 and B660. one has 4 lanes of DMI and the other has 8 lanes, does it matter? 4. do i need heatsink for western digital sn850 ssd, should i buy a motherboard with heatsink or thermal guard or something like that? thanks a lot !

Hi All, I am attempting to move from my current NZXT H710i to a new O11 Dynamic XL by the end of the year. I notice that the O11 does not have any fans included and I am planning to get 3 Noctua NF-A12x25 as a side intake. The problem I am facing now is that I am not sure if I can connect the Y-Splitters to the PWM connectors on my ASUS ROG Strix X570-F motherboad or not. Likewise, is there a optimal configuration if I can do so? I was thinking along the lines of two Y-Splitters, the first one connect to the motherboard and 1 fan, with the second connection connecting to the second Y-Spliiter and the remaining 2 fans. Thanks for the help!

Is it typical for the motherboard lights to change from orange to red to white to green every time I turn on my PC before it reaches the Windows login screen? I also bought some new ram that seems to sometimes have trouble launching into windows. Sometimes the PC doesn't even turn on and the motherboard light for dram stays orange.

So I have a 1070 strix GPU and my primary monitor (1080p 144hz) is plugged in it via display port. I recently got a second monitor (1080p 60hz) to use as a secondary, now for reasons that are too long to explain I am unable to plug it into my GPU as well. So I was wondering if I could use the secondary one through my motherboard hdmi port (I have an i5-8400, which I believe has an integrated gpu). I would only use it for discord and browsing, and keep the gaming to the main display. Is this a viable solution, or is there something I should know?

Hello everyone, I have a satellite C55-a computer that comes with a Pentium 2020m CPU, I increased the ram from 4gb to 8gb, but my question is if the socket G2 and the motherboard support an upgrade to an i3 CPU or i5? Investigate the motherboard but I'm not completely sure of the model because it only says Portable PC MP, Toshiba brandbrand. Thanks.
