Hey so i found these kinds of LEDs and they seem to be really awesome because you can do a lot of differnt effects with them. My question/idea can i use an Arduoino Nano ( and some access components) to power and controll them? I plan on having a little case for the Arduoino and then a usb plug ( from the pc ) going into it and from the case there will be a little extension cable for the strip that delivers power and data. Is something like this possible ? And if so , is it complicated to build ? I have never soldered ever in my life befor and i dont know much about electronics

Hello, I'm planning a project over the next few months and it will require me to do a LOT of interviews. My budget is $1000 but I'd like to keep costs to a minimum. The subjects of my interviews will mostly be the elderly so I'll need a microphone that's sensitive enough to hear them. I was hoping a yeti or yeti pro would be good enough for this but I'd prefer it if the mic wasn't in the shot so if that isn't going to work does anyone have any recommendations? Based on the feedback I've been getting it looks like I'll want a shotgun mic and I'm pretty sure the yeti pro doesn't function as one. Are there any ~$200 shotgun mics that are worth picking up or am I going to need to sink more money into that? Right now I'm leaning towards this one. The main reason I'm posting to this board is the lights. For lights I was planning on using three of these StudioPRO lights from amazon: link. Those would be used for a three point lighting system but if I'm overkilling it with those I'd appreciate it if someone could point me to some alternatives. I think I'm good on cameras, it's a handheld that shoots at 1080p/60fps. Unless there's an upgrade I can get for under $300 I'm not interested in a new one. I could also pick up some back-drops. I assume those can be something as simple as a curtain but if there's some kind of special material or any fan-favorites I'd love to hear about them. Are there any specific colors I should seek out or avoid? I think that's all I need help with. This site is always so helpful but I couldn't find anything specific about interviews so I thought I'd make a post. The items I posted here were the best price/quality things I could find but I'm not very confident with my research which is another reason why I made this post. Thank you. EDIT: I'm aware that this is completely doable for under $100, I'd just use my phone honestly. But the project IS the interviews. I need audio and video to be as good as possible within my budget which is why I posted here. So while I'm thankful to the people who replied so far, I'm not looking to do this with just my phone or a $20 recorder.

Talking about case ilumination LTT and almost all others always use LED strips but am I the only one that thinks the look pretty ugly? I mean Yeah the can look cool and the RGB stuff is nice but I hate how you cant tell the space between every individual LED on the strip and your case is then iluminated with the strange "striped" pattern whether you want it or not. You know what I mean? So my question goes more about asking if there are alternatives that provide a smooth lighting effect maybe RGB (or even not!) that one can get. I think this is what the call enclosed LEDs, or LED enclosures but it really grinds my gears that this is the norm (images). I don't like the difference in intensity that is so noticible and the fact you can see and even count all the LEDs. Do you think one can mod an enclosure? leds in a tube or smth? Maybe this belongs on the Mods thread but I wanted to ask on Cases first..... So anyway Penny for your thoughts!

Hey Guys, So I recently got given a RGB USB light kit for gift. But I have an odd issue.. Whenever I plug the USB into my PC, it causes a background static noise.. Now, I have an interesting set up.. I have a Yamaha AG06 and FiiO E10K. I have my AG06 set up in order to be able to record gameplay and voip separately. So here is the config: AT2020 (XLR) into Mic 1 3.5mm to 1/4" into Mic 2 (This is set for my VOIP to go to so I can record my voice and normal voice in one single audacity track [2 channels]) E10K output into Line 3/4 (My game/system audio) So.. Even when I move which USB it connects too I still get the noise.. Any ideas/help/solutions? Thanks!

I want a new stylish PC case, but all I can find are either good looking cases with only 2 USB ports or ugly ones with enough ports. My price range is up to 180€/$ and I need enough ports, at least 5 USB 3.0/2.0. I would like to have some lights installed in it, preferably in red but not necessarily. Thank you :-)

Dear Awesome People, Looking for some suggestions on LED Light Strips. Recently a family member of mine picked up a LED Light Strip that she used to decorate her house for the holidays but is planning on leaving it up for the year as indoor and outdoor lighting. The only issue is that I have started searching around online for LED Light strips and I am trying to avoid paying the $40+ each set of lights and secondly the fact that I don't know what brands are legitimately good or not. Here is a link for the exact same brand that she used for her house but she got it at costco, not at this website. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/321866289501?ul_noapp=true&chn=ps&lpid=82 Just throw out some links and suggestions would be awesome! Thanks!

Avexir came out with some new RAM and SSD's at Computex and they look pretty badass. The problem is that they seem to already be out, yet I can't find any news, or stores that carry them. I live in the United States and I can only find a website from Germany selling them. I haven't used any of their products before but as I said before, they look awesome, so I think it would be worth a shot. I would be very thankful if anyone knew where I could pick up this RAM. Here is the link to their page. http://www.avexir.com/product/ROG/ROG-mobile.html

What's everyone's opinion on computer parts when it comes to flashy heat spreaders or RGB colouring seemingly on everything these days? Do you actually care how your system looks or do you just want a system that runs games for you? I subscribe to the if it looks good and performs well then get it (given you can afford it) but that's not the case for everyone, as cost can be a huge factor when building a system. I like to take pride in my system so that when I go to LAN's I get to show off and some of my friends have taken to doing the same.

CableMod’s new WideBeam LED strips are pretty darn cool - I feel like they’re best explained through CableMod’s own words below: “Utilizing a unique transparent LED housing, CableMod WideBeam LED’s deliver a much wider beam angle – over 50% greater than traditional LEDs. Bright and vibrant with a much more even lighting effect, WideBeam LEDs look different because they are different. With the number of different case materials out there, we didn’t think one solution would fit all. CableMod WideBeam LED Strips come in both magnetic and foam adhesive to suit all kinds of cases on the market. The WideBeam Magnetic Series features multiple rare-earth magnets for a secure fit, and can be easily repositioned or moved to alternate builds. Those with aluminum or non-magnetic cases can choose the WideBeam Foam Series for a foam adhesive that is over 200% stronger than typical LED strips.” In short, these are freaking cool RGB LED strips that are fully chainable, utilize SATA power, and are designed to work with ASUS AURA for perfect compatibility with ASUS motherboards that feature an RGB header. Full information: http://bit.ly/240bLHP So, now that we know how cool they are, where can we get them? Fantastic question! And for 5 lucky forum users, the answer is right here! How do you enter this giveaway? 1. Comment below letting us know WHY CableMod should provide you with their new WideBeam LED strips. Give a brief explanation of your current (or future build) with pics and/or a PCPartPicker list. 2. Mention in your comment which LED strips you’d like (foam adhesive or magnetic) and in what quantity (be reasonable - any ridiculous requests like “I need 100 LED strips because lights” will be ignored). 3. Check back on the forum in one week to see if you were selected as a winner! This is a worldwide giveaway with no age restrictions. All fulfillment will be handled by Performance PCs - you can check CableMod out on their site now at http://bit.ly/1KeOuv5 The 5 (five) winners will be drawn on 2/19, 2016, and will be PMed here on the forum from this account. Disregard any other contact specifying that you were a winner in this giveaway. Thanks and good luck!

ok so this past week i got really fed up with the quality and loudness of the "5.1 surround" that i had for my pc. i personally believe that for ***MUSIC*** and most movies and games that a simple yet PROPERLY built 2.1 audio set up is just fine, and that there is NO need for these 1000watt plus surrounds and all that BS... so in this log i will be building a custom sound bar from solid maple wood... not maple veneer. this will be as close to an audiophile grade sound for about 150 bucks. this sound bar that i am currently in the process of drawing out will ONLY be using 2-4" dayton RS100-4 speakers and a 2ch 30watt amp from texas instruments (2ch x 15w each @4ohm). i do plan to mount some leds are the bar so tune in to see shiny things. ill be uploading pics everyday.

Hey everyone. So I recently bought 2 COOLER MASTER Jetflo 120 blue LED fans. One of them works fine while the other only spins but does not light up. Is it because I have two of the dampening chords that come with it attached to this one fan? (The red cables) Or is it something else? If it is because of the 2 dampening cables attached to the 1 fan, where should I now connect the fan and with 1 or none of the dampening cables attached? My case (NZXT H440) has a fan hub. But I don't know if by default, it has any spare 4 pin connections and hate opening my case for no reason haha. Please help lovely people <3

So I'm getting ready to build a new PC, but I also want to install lights in it. So I wanted to know if you guys could help me find good RGB lights to go inside my PC that will last a long time. Thank you P.S. If you could also find RGB lights that I can stick around my desk for ambiance that would be great.

So.. i've been trying to determine which LED strips to go with for a while now, and in the past i've just bought LED case fans (yeah.. i shuttered too once i heard the noise differences from decent quality fans with no LED's). Regardless, i've watched Linus review some LED strips in the past and seemed interested by the BitFenix and IceModz LED strips, as those seem relatively easy to work with, good quality and overall really simple. I'm in the process of downsizing my PC, so i'll be using a Corsair 240 mATX case (below) when i put the LED's in. Let me know some feedback! Never used LED's in a PC case before so i need a lot of it..

Hello all, I was looking for some help on which to choose. I just bought a Corsair 760T and I'm looking to light the interior. I want to go with UV lights, but I'm lost on what to do. I am replacing all the fans with Corsairs Air LED Purples. My dilemma is between cold cathode UV and LED UV. What option should I go with, and if you have any suggestions on what to buy; keep in mind I do want to keep the case as clean as possible while lighting as much as I could. Cable management is definitely key in this build. I really appreciate any and all feedback on this subject.

I found a few light kits with a remote control, wich is really awesome. Although I couln't find any ones on Amazon with lots of reviews. I only found two different ones with about 4 reviews each. Any leads? These need to be RGB, nothing really over 50 bucks. These are going in an NZXT S340 black and red. EDIT: The reviews where mixed as well.
