Hi there LTT community! After watching a few videos of various LAN parties, I thought it would be a good idea to host a LAN party of about 100 people to bring our small community together, etc. I have an average understanding of networking, and I think I should have at least part of the knowledge to setup a network infrastructure, at least the physical side of things. I have a few venues that I'm keeping my eye out for, and have searched up places to hire 6ft desks, fold-able chairs, etc. I am here to ask how to setup a network for 100 people, fully. Along with power systems, as I'm pretty sure I'll need external power sources to power 100 PCs under load! Any advice/help/tips is/are welcome! Many thanks, Blu

My friends and I want to have a LAN party. We plan to play games like CS:GO comp, Guns of Icarus, etc. What I want to know is if 36 Mbps down and 6 Mbps up enough to play these games. There is going to be 5-6 people/computers at the LAN party.

Hello, My name is Zack and in a few weeks, I'm hosting a LAN party at my place. I am thinking of setting everyone up in a garage, and getting some space heaters in there to keep everyone warm. The only issue with this, is I've got no internet in there, and I don't want to make everyone get wireless cards. I'm thinking of getting an Ethernet switch and a long ethernet cable, and getting everyone hooked up to that. Since there are nine of us, I was looking towards a 10 port gigabit switch (since one port is actually used to got to the router). From what I've looked at, they seem to be really expensive, and I don't really have the money to blow on one. I was scrolling through and found a whopping 24port 100mbps switch, which would be more than enough, and it's only $11 on newegg. Since my internet caps out at 50mbps, I don't think we will have an issue, but I wanted to make sure. Will there be a bandwidth issue? Hi, I was considering buying a water cooler for a future computer build such as the Corsair H110. But With that build, I would be frequently going to a friend's house for a LAN Party. Would you advise, putting a water cooler on my PC if it will be moved frequently? Will moving the PC damage the cooler? Is there a specific type/brand of cooler I should get? Thanks!

I'm planning to make a few lan party machines for my home which can run most games at medium-high settings. I currently am running a Sapphire R9 270X and I can near max out any game at 30-60fps and I would like to get a card similar to it but cheaper and hopefully Nvidia. I was thinking about the 750 Ti as it is £100 over the 270X being £160 and its similar in performance. So my question is, what card should I get? The machines are going to be pretty low end but good enough to play games like gta, smite etc.

hi LTT forums I'm open for suggestions for any gaming monitors with carrying handles (for LAN parties) and I also would like to know if you guys know of any mice/keyboards with cables that can detach to throw in a bag to carry from one place to another. thanks

Hey all got a little LAN question for you. At the moment my bedroom is wireless and the connection is getting a little crappy for me so im thinking of going wired. Im thinking of getting Ethernet to my by wiring it through the house or doing it through powerline havent decided yet. My plan is to have have a lot of my consoles connected with ethernet but thats not what this is about. I want to have an Xbox 360 LAN party with my friends. Im looking to get an 8 port unmanaged 100mbit switch, if i connect all of the xboxs to the switch with this count as LAN and work or does it need to be connected to my main router? Little diagram to help out but might not be much use

Hey all, have a few LAN parties over the year and i have recently got my hands on a bunch of old ps2 slims. Now i know there are LAN games for the consoles but i was wondering if any of you knew any. i have 4 and no multi-taps so 2 per console if that helps! Thanks JJHW149

So yeah I have been looking around for some good lan parties in the uk but can't find any near me or in the uk (according to a google search for uk lan parties) well i can but none that are active on their website and that's it mainly if anyone is interested do reply with ur thoughts. It would mainly consist of playing some tournaments with a wide variety of platforms 1: Pc games from rts to fps with racing games and puzzle games and a little mix of co-op games too (l4d type) 2: Some console games such as super smash (any version) and some halo, 3: maybe some sort of score challenges and classic games too (virtua fighter ECT...) This would probably be in the next year or so 2014/2015 ish think i can get everything in order but the more help i can get would be fantastic just need to find a venue and stuff (according to this wikihow http://www.wikihow.com/Host-a-LAN-Party) and a sponsor their might be some prizes too but idk this is just a thought. anyway have a nice day from Dave!

Has anybody ever used one of these https://www.geargrip.com/ or a similar product? I've got a HAF X case full of stuff and it weighs a ton and isn't easy to cart around to/from uni and home or to LAN parties. I would have already bought one of these straps if they were about half the price, but ~$40 for something i might only use 1-2 times a month that isn't really a must-have is keeping me from buying. This also seems like a pretty easy DIY project, but I'm not sure what materials i would use..

For those of you who have been to a LAN party, and live in holland. Currently Codemasters Campzone is being held outdoors. So you go camping with your computer! There is Power, a very fast LAN, and a lot of people will be there for 11 full days ! Oh and a lot of people means about 1000 that will be going for the full event! So I'm in my final year of High school in the netherlands, and was looking around and found a great idea for our ''final project'' (project we have to choose to work on all throughout the year), a LAN party at school with the profit we'd gain going to a charity case. (local, national, international doesn't matter). We'd game for 24 hours in a row, so in a way a gaming marathon for charity. we have enough tables and chairs, and I'm sure we can find the power to power 20+ computers, but the internet is a bit of an issue. We have pretty terrible internet (The school has WiFi) and considering it's a LAN party we'd need a lot of cables. What should I do to prepare this and is it doable for a reasonable price (not too much because that'd destroy the entire point of the charity)? I'm pretty unknown on the territory of internet so what should I be able to get to gain a bunch of internet speed and enough slots for internet cables? I'm assuming purchase a different router for a different (temporary) provider? PLease someone shed some light and help me out a bit! Much appreciated!
