Hey there guys, as sombody who likes gaming but always bought systems instead of building them I really need your help! I have NO IDEA if my configuration could work, what could be optimized and what peripherals I should buy. Also: Do I need more 140mm fans since the case only has to but supports up to seven? 1. Budget & Location I live in Germany and would be able to spend 2200€ (=> 3000$) for the rig + mouse + keyboard + monitor 2. Aim My aim ist definitely gaming, especially modern shooters like BF4, ARMA III, Wolfenstein The New Order and so on. The setup will also be used an Workstation for studying, so maybe two monitors would be nice. 3. Monitors I plan on running of course at least one 24" monitor, maybe two if the price is still in the limit. 4. Peripherals I need one or two nice and fast 24" monitors; of course Full-HD. My setup will have a GTX 780 and I do not know which link to use, because it only has one HDMI slot. I also need a new mouse and keyboard, maybe this really cheap mechanical one produced by Tt for around 80$. By the way: I am quite a huge guy, so my hand is also big, that's why I do not use small mice. 5. Why are you upgrading? I still have a 2500$ gaming laptop, but it is really impracticable for studying. So now I want to sell it and split things up: Gaming at home on a nice rig and in university I'll use a 13,3" Ultrabook. So now I am asking you guys to optimize my setup and pick monitor(s), mouse and keyboard. You can change EVERYTHING!!! Hi there folks. I've been finalising the parts list to the new mid-high end PC which I am hoping to get within six months. Please keep in mind that I live in Australia and the prices are often higher than in the US. I want you guys to go through this list and see if you can improve upon it in any way. The catch? I want you to be as nit-picky as possible and if needed suggest alternate components and explain why. So here is the list: Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro [AU$115] -- Looks good, it's also pretty much the most fully featured case in that price range. PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W Gold [AU$239] -- Good enough to power any single GPU system. However, I don't really like the red PCIe cables. If the SuperNOVA G2 750W was in Australia I would pick that instead because of the all black cables and higher wattage. I also considered the Corsair RM550/RM650 because of the very low noise but chose not to use it because of the inferior cables. Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Ranger [AU$225] -- There are cheaper options out there but I chose this one mostly because of Fan Xpert 3 and because of ASUS's generally good warranty. CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K [AU$269] -- Most likely to change this to the 4690K because why not. RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 2x4GB DDR3 1600 [$99] -- Not the greatest performance, but it's cheap and looks better than any of the other similarly priced RAM. (RAM in Aus is much more expensive than in the US) GPU: Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 Windforce 4GB [AU$449] -- Pretty cheap for a 290. SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB [AU$179] -- I will also be using a 1TB HDD from my current PC CPU Cooler: NZXT Havik 140 [AU$69] -- This particular CPU cooler seems to be overlooked but from the reviews that I've seen it performs very well, especially considering its price. Total: AU$1554 I would greatly appreciate any suggested changes, as long as you can explain why. I would also like to keep the total cost under AU$1600

Is a fairly simple question... What do you guys think it's better for 1440p?? I'm building my first high-end system and i don't know which GPU is best... Might get another 1080p screen in the future but mostly for running virtual machines and other stuff... being able to work in 2 O.S. at the same time, maybe an additional screen for coding and productivity... not just a gaming build but a high performance one too. I'm thinking EVGA GTX Titan SC or ASUS GTX 780 Direct CU II OC. Thanks in advanced!!

Hello again! - My last post got deleted by an accidental double post, and therefore messed around with my posts. So this is another Topic just for some tips/answers and recommendations for my planned build. Here it is - http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2DXBk If you could tell me any improvements etc. it would be appreciated. (I have posted many times recently however - its another post as I have changed and added some parts) Many thanks.

Hello again! Well then, I have posted several topics on my various High-End build but I think this is it. I have finally got my very last components - however the only thing I may still need to change a bit is the case. So please if you have recommendations for good £60-£90 cases which are ATX or Mid ATX please let me know! - Parts List: Approx. Cost = £950 - £1000 http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2Cj9O CPU - Intel Core i5 4670K 4-Core @ 3.4GHz COOLER - Noctua NH-L9i CPU Cooler Fan USB 3.0 MOBO - MSI Z87 G43 Gaming - 4x DDR3 & PCIe 3.0 RAM - Kingston HyperX 1600MHz 2x4GB 8GB GPU - Asus GTX 770 Direct CU11 HDD - Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM Drive SSD - Kingston 3K 120GB 2.5" Drive DVD - Samsung DVD Writer/Drive PSU - Corsair CX750W 80+ Bronze PSU OS - Windows 7 64bit Case - Fractal Design Core R4 ATX Midi Case (Black) Wifi - Asus 300Mbps Wifi Adapter Many thanks!

I've built many PC's and understand a lot about them, but I have a possibly dumb question. In theory, if someone ran a 64gb ramdisk with a decent processor (4770k w/ Intel HD 4600) and installed an entire game on it; would you still need a high end graphics card to run a triple A title (BF4)? If I am missing something critical please ellaborate. Thanks guys!

Hello! I am currently in the process of saving up money (as I am only 14 at the moment) for a mid to high end Gaming PC. This will be a fully custom build and will include high end components with brands such as Nvidia, Intel, Corsair, Asus etc. (I have nothing against AMD!) I am hoping to play the newest games at the highest settings the majority of times getting frames at approximately 50FPS plus. I would love to play games such as the Battlefields, Call of Duty's, DayZ, Arma Games, Valve games and many more. I have researched various setups - but the main components I am thinking of are: CPU - Intel Core i5 4670k 4-Core @ 3.4GHz (Socket 1150) MOBO - Asus B85 Plus w/ PCIe 2.0/3.0, 4x Memory Slots and Socket 1150 RAM - Corsair Vengeance 8GB 2x4GB DDR3 1600Mhz GPU - Asus GeForce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 HDD - Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM (Mass Storage mainly) DVD - Lite-On iHas 24x DVD Writer/Drive PSU - Corsair Builder Series CX600 Watt PSU OS - Windows 7 64bit (Don't mind on HPr, Prof, Ulti etc.) CASE - Cooler Master RC-430 Full ATX Black/Blue Case I will be willing to upgrade this PC in the future for better performance (4x Ram Slots etc.) when I get the money but this would hopefully be my starting PC and any improvements, recommendations would help a lot. Many thanks.

High End Build - Custom Gaming PC - £900/£950
GallardoAdsy posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hello again! I have recently posted about a £700 mid to high end build I was planning on however I believe I may spend a bit more on this build. I am hoping to play the newest games at the highest settings all the time be getting very playable frame rates. I would love to play games such as the Battlefields, Call of Duty's, DayZ, Arma Games, Valve games and many more and just have the best gaming experience for this price. I have researched various setups - but the main components I am thinking of are: CPU - Intel Core i5 4670k 4-Core @ 3.4GHz 6MB Cache (Socket 1150) MOBO - Asus Z87 G43 w/ PCIe 3.0, 4x Memory Slots and Socket 1150 RAM - Kingston HyperX 8GB 2x4GB DDR3 1600Mhz GPU - Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB GDDR5 Direct CUII HDD - Western Digital 500GB 7200RPM (Mass Storage mainly) SDD - Kingston 120GB 2.5" SSD Drive (Booting OS/Games) DVD - Lite-On iHas 24x DVD Writer/Drive PSU - Corsair Builder Series CX650 Watt PSU [EDIT - 4770k to 4670k & GTX 670 to GTX 770] OS - Windows 7 64bit (Don't mind on HPr, Prof, Ulti etc.) CASE - CiT Midi Mesh Case Green - w/ 4 Fans (Green LED) I will be willing to upgrade this PC in the future for better performance when I get the money but this would perform better than the £700 PC I recently posted about - as I am spending more money on it. Please leave your comments or any changes you think would help the PC's performance. Many thanks -
Hey, I'm building a new rig for gaming (mainly) and just general use/programming. My budget is £2,000 and I'm just under it at the moment. I'd like to get some second opinions on the build and any recommendations to reduce the price or for better components. The only thing I'm really set on is the case, motherboard and graphics card. Hey guys, im in the search for a couple of outstanding headphones. Price range: 300-400$ They are intended for gaming, but ofc also music on the side. Must have full cover large dome (not touching my ears) Looks arent that important, although the only "color theme" i would go for other than a normal black / grey ish look would be black / red. Must also be very comfortable, since i wil be using theses over 24h sessions some times I really just want the best possible audio experience! i would love to get a few possible candidates, that i can chose from ty! <3 B)

I am building my second gaming rig. Now and I am struggling to choose a GPU. My favorite options are the MSI lightning Radeon HD 7970 or the Galaxy HOF GTX 770. I want a silent gaming experience with the highest frame rates in modern (and next gen) titles. I don't, mind high temps. I have a Z87 MPOWER MAX motherboard and a Bitfenix Survivor White. I have a 750W psu so power is no issue. I am planning to play: The Elder Scrolls Online, Battlefield 4, Skyrim, Borderlands 2, Assassin's creed 3/4, and the most GPU intensive game ever, Minesweeper! Note: Survivor case has no windowed side panel so I do not care fort looks. Update: I've decided 770 HOF for it is $100 cheaper!

1. Budget & Location I've set a budget of 15000:- SEK which translates to ~2330$ USD. Tax here in Sweden is 25%, so 1864$ without tax. 2. Aim I want to be able to push a lot of graphics - 1440p, 60 fps, preferably maxed out graphics while recording with Dxtory. I am well aware of the fact that I won't be able to max out every game at 1440p while maintaining 50+ fps, but I want to get as close as possible. Video rendering on the side. Modding the hell out of Skyrim is going to be a blast, heard it requires quite a bit of CPU power. 3. Monitors Right now I'm running a weird setup, but I plan on settling for a main monitor at 2560x1440 and two 1920x1080 on the sides. Only gonna use my main monitor for gaming so no surround gaming or 3D. 4. Peripherals Don't need any at the moment and I've already got Win 7 64-bit, so I've got that covered. 5. Why are you upgrading? Current rig is a 2 year-old 850$ rig, so I felt like it was time for a major upgrade in order to run new games coming out with all the eye candy "on". My new build so far: Case - Corsair Obsidian 350D w/ window MoBo - Asus Maximus VI Gene CPU - Intel Core i7 4770K 3,50GHz Socket 1150 Box RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 PC10666/1333MHz CL9 2x8GB (F3-10666CL9D-16GBXL) GPU - Asus GeForce GTX780-DC2OC-3GD5 3GB PSU - Be-Quiet Power Zone 650W CPU Cooling - Corsair Hydro H100i Fans - Noctua NF-F12 PWM 120mm X3 + Noctua NF-A14 FLX 140mm Side notes: - I don't have any storage on this list because I'm bringing the HDDs I have in my current PC over to the new one. - I'm replacing all the fans in the case with Noctua fans, this is where the "quiet(ish)" part comes in. The 140mm will go in the front as intake, one of the 120s will go in the back as exhaust and the other two pulling air through the H100i at the top also as exhaust. - I've been trying to do a bit of research concerning the PSU but I'm still not sure about it. I'm planing on overclocking my CPU and GPU, and I might add another 780 (far) down the line. So I don't think the 650W is overkill, but I'm open for suggestions. - Going for a classic red and black color scheme. Was thinking of getting some red light strips in there as well but it might become a little bit too red, idk. Thanks to anyone giving feedback I appreciate it. ^-^

Hey, anybody else getting the gtx 780 ti? I'am thinking of getting 2 but i'am pretty sure 1 will be good for a while. I'll want a second for the star citizen Dogfighting module. Upgrading my 7870 for the gtx 780 ti. My build is a 4770k, msi gd-65, corsair force gs 128gb, zulman z11 case, xfx 750 watt psu modular, 8gb kingston hyperx blue (16gb soon), h80i cooler, 1tb hd for games, and some other things.

Im looking for a really high end air cooler that can cool a 3770K with high voltages (just in case I get a bad chip). I'd like the fan's on it to be very quiet, and to operate at or sub 1100 rpm, as the main goal here is to get similar or better performance to a H110, but at a quieter operation (no pump noise) It'd have to fit in a Fractal Design Arc Midi R2. I am using ram with about 3mm tall heat sinks, so that shouldn't be an issue. My budget is £75, but i could stretch it to £90 if required (including any aftermarket fans). I have no brand preferences, just that the company is well known. Appreciate any suggestions.

Hey! I'm wondering if it's worth due to the debate about high vram usage of new and future games to upgrade from a single gtx 770 2gb to sli or if it's better to wait for the 800 series and buy one of those cards and later on upgrade to sli. I'm currently playing on a 1080p 144 benQ monitor. I've sen different charts and benchmarks of different games like Metro Last Light, crysis 3, watch dogs etc. which states that the fps on cards in the same price range as gtx 770 like the 280x doesn't benefit from that 1gb more vram (in other words more than 2gb vram shouldn't be required since it's not dropping fps). Although I've seen enormous amount of people stating that 2gb of vram isn't enough for 1080p in current and near future games. So my question is will that 2gb of vram bottleneck a gtx 770 sli? Is it even worth upgrading to a sli? How cost effective is it if I already have one gtx 770? What would you guys recommend? My build: Cpu: i7 4790k @ 4,7 mhz (h100i) Ram: 16 gb of corsair vengence Lp @ 1600 mhz Gpu: Gigabyte gtx 770 2 gb Motherboard: Asus Maximus Hero vii Psu: corsair rm 1000W

I want an asus ROG formula , H110i and a 295x2 in a portable system. is it possible? or do i have to go for impact, H100i respectively. A portable case that can fit a 295x2 is the main thing. thanks!

So I currently have a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2012 Edition. It's a really great keyboard imo, except for the noise part. The blue keys are just a bit too noisy for my taste and I have therefore decided to buy one with brown keys, which is, as I understand, relatively almost the same as the blue switches except they make less noise. What keyboard with brown switches should I buy? I want the high end stuff, but keep the keyboard pretty simple like blackwidow. No extra screen and all that stuff.

I've been planning a build for some time (It will be a gift from my father, hooray) and I thought I had the build pretty much set, but there's been a bit of a delay on the financial part and I've had some time to really think over the build. I'm now set on everything but the graphics option. I was hoping you guys could give me some insight (please without being green/red biased!) on what graphics option I should go for. I'll be running a Corsair AX1200i so power consumption doesn't -technically- matter because that could easily handle any of those options. Also, if you feel like being specific, possibly suggest a brand/model? I'm partial towards Asus slightly, but there's also MSI, EVGA, Gigabyte, etc. As far as setup I'll have three 24 inch monitors at 1920x1200 Resolution. As much as I want to, not quite going 4K *just* yet. What would you guys suggest (strictly) within these options: Dual R9 290X's Dual GTX 780 Ti's Single R9 295X Single GTX Titan Please note: please consider price:performance, reliability, binning, heat output, the fact that I really like the colour green and will be adding green LED's & fans to the case. The rest of the build(All decided on, just for reference): Case: Corsair 760T MB: Asus Sabertooth Z97 M1 CPU: 4770K RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance PSU: Corsair AX1200i CPU Cooling: Corsair H105 Case Cooling: CM Sickle Flow Green LED Storage: Samsung 840 Evo 500GB SSD Storage: WD 3TB Caviar Green note: If you look at my current build on my profile, you'll realize how legitimately excited I am for such a huge upgrade!

Hey there people, So here is the deal : I'm a CG artist using Houdini as my go-to cg package as well as a gamer, and I would like to try, for once, a high-end computer capable of dealing with very heavy simulation data ( smoke, flip, etc ) as well as playing the most recent games using the "ultra" preset in 1440p / 144hz. Here is for the short version. Let me go into more details ( and shamelessly copy / paste the must-read post ) : 1. Budget & Location I'll take a loan anyway, so I guess it will be somewhere in the 5 to 6k euros range. Living in Europe, France. So basically prices can be expected to be higher here ! 2. Aim So as I said : goal is web browsing. Need to get that Edge browser up and running, amirite ? Naaah, I just want to be able to deal with heavy simulations, which implies a few twists with your usual run-of-the-mill gaming rig. I also have a Vive, thankfully the bonus will be passive. To this end, I have some very specific goals in mind : - Threadripper 2990xw. Because cores. - 64gb of ram is an absolute minimum, and the only reason I won't get to 128 is because of the price ( unless I can find some nice deal(s) for the other parts ). - Disk space and disk speed will also be an important part - it's easy to melt those BG fast. - 2080ti. Because I also want a solid gamig rig, and also because I use Redshift, which is a GPU renderer. ( though with such a powerful CPU, cpu rendering may become a thing again ) - No glass panel on the case. No way. This rig may have to keep running at night, I'd rather not turn my room into a disco floor, you know ? Always had a weakness for Fractal Design but it looks like I may have to expand my horizon this time. Basically I want a powerful and discreet computer, with (almost) no interest in the visuals. 3. Monitors I already have two monitors - an old 144hz HD benQ serving as companion to a Asus ROG PG279Q ( 1440p, gsync ). No plan to get a third. 4. Peripherals Nothing needed except for a windows - I'm not sure I really need pro, so I guess family can help save a bit of green dust ? 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm the owner of two other computers - I basically upgrade or change every four years or so. New computer - 1 or 2 years laters new GPU / new RAM - 1 or 2 years later new computer - etc. I like to change everything so I can keep the old ones as a makeshift, amateur render and sim farm when needed, or just for when friends come over to play some LAN. And components are usually not very salvageable. Also, I do not have the patience, knowledge, and self-confidence I could build a new computer from parts anyway. The computer I'm using right now got a I7 4970k, 32gb DDR3 ram, a 1080ti that I feel may be a bit bottlenecked. It's ... okay, I guess, but it's not very comfortable. Obviously, such a setup can't be upgraded - I don't remember exactly what the mobo is but the I7 was already the limit, and DDR3... Well, it's the era of DDR4, right ? Also, time window. I usually get a bonus money package in May ( so basically I just got it ), and there are some nice, but fast going, loan interests at my bank right now. 6. Example ! SO here it is, my project. I haven't come fully empty handed though, and here is a link to something I made using info from poking around the internet ( this forum included obviously ) : PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD - Threadripper 2990WX 3 GHz 32-Core Processor $1613.04 @ Amazon CPU Cooler Noctua - NH-U14S TR4-SP3 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler $79.90 @ Amazon Motherboard Gigabyte - X399 AORUS XTREME EATX TR4 Motherboard $429.99 @ Amazon Memory G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 64 GB (4 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory $804.83 @ Amazon Storage Samsung - 970 Evo Plus 500 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive $125.40 @ OutletPC Storage Crucial - MX500 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive $119.89 @ OutletPC Storage Western Digital - Black 4 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $179.89 @ OutletPC Video Card Gigabyte - GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11 GB AORUS XTREME Video Card $1249.99 @ Newegg Case Phanteks - PH-ES614PC_BK ATX Full Tower Case $129.99 @ Amazon Power Supply EVGA - SuperNOVA 1000 P2 1000 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply $219.76 @ OutletPC Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $5002.68 Mail-in rebates -$50.00 Total $4952.68 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-05-17 23:49 EDT-0400 I'm basically doubting everything on this list, except for the CPU obviously, and could use some help into isolating either bad components, or finding way to reduce the cost in order to add case fans if needed, add the OS, etc. Just for the sake of comparison, here is the closest example I could make on a french service provider website using their own tool : https://www.topachat.com/pages/configomatic.php?c=MBWI5eLfYoL9dnauYkYVBOeKhXet2bGWsHugGOAyhgE%3D You'll notice I couldn't even get the correct RAM ( if things come to it I'll just buy it elsewhere, it's an easy to replace part ) so I choose a close one to emulate the price but everything else is the same, except in euros. So, people, what do you think? Any opinions ? Is it a bad timing ? Am I missing components ? Can I save some money somewhere ? Is it really air we're breathing ? Thanks, -W

HI! I currently have the Seasonic Focus GX750. Due to the new launch of RTX 3090 and the need for 3x8 pin i have chosen to upgrade my PSU. Some say 750 W is enough, some say 850W is preferred. See this post i made on a thread in this forum, and the answers it got. I have: mobo: Gigabyte x570 Aourus elite CPU: 3900X, stock. Might go with 4900x once that launches. NHD-15 cooler, 2 fans RAM: Trident Z neo 3600mhz 32gb (16x2) GPU: Asus Rog Strix 3090 factory OC, 3x8pin 450w draw limit (currently have 2080ti) Peripherals1: 5x 140mm fans, all the same(came with case), Peripherals2: Razer huntsman keyboard, Razer viper ultimate mouse, Corsair and sennheiser headsets, wireless but they charge from usb slot every day Peripherals3: Deepcool GH-01 A-rgb. GPU holder with RGB powered by motherboard. Peripherals4: Odyssey G9 screen, and Asus PG27VQ Screen. I don't know if they draw any power for their usb hubs so i included them. So that is my build. I currently have the Seasonic GX750w, and i am looking to upgrade. Money isn't an issue (to some extent), i would like something that i can say is "one of the best" or "the best". And also it should be Future-proof with the wattage. I highly doubt i will ever overclock stuff myself, however i will be "chasing the tech" and getting new products in the next few years. I don't know anything about multi-rail, single rail etc. What do you guys think? Appreciate the help!
