Hey all! I have an 8 year old Sager and was doing a routine thermal compound replacement, when one of the screw heads for the CPU broke off. So the 'bolt' part of it is screwed inside, but the head broke off. Can anyone suggest where to get replacement screw parts for Clevo/Sager? Any tips for removing the stuck bolt ? I didn't really apply more force, done it many times before. Think the screw was slightly stripped so maybe that caused some issue? Either way I'm looking for replacing the screws on the CPU heat sink, the small silver ones that lock on the CPU as well as the longer black ones that lock the heat sink onto the motherboard. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, First, here is my setup: CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x GPU: MSI RX 5700 XT Gaming X Case: Corsair Carbide R275: with the included corsair fans as front intakes and two beQuite! purewings 2 pwm in the back as ex (back and top). Motherboard : ASUS PRIME X570-P PSU: Seasonic Focus GX-850 (planning to do some big upgrades in the future) RAM: 2x 16GB G.Skill Trident Z F4-3200C16D-32GTZKW Recently I have noticed that the temperatures of my GPU (especially junction) are higher than normally (recently because I had to upgrade to the mentioned motherboard and psu because of some system failures). With the case closed the junction temp reaches 110c almost instantly when starting a game and fan speeds keep being around 2200 rpm. When I remove the side panel, temperatures are way better and junction temps are around 80-90 (100 on really heavy load) and fan speeds keep around 1500 rpm. I assumed that maybe the airflow in my case is sub optimal, but a friend of mine told me that the issue might be with my cpu cooler. I am running an Noctua NH-U14S and the distance between the block and my GPU is really small (picture included) and according to my friend the heat from the cooler is affecting the gpu temps. That sounds logical, but is it? Should I change my CPU cooler, preferably to a AIO cooler or lies the problem with my pc case/airflow? Thanks in advance and if I need to provide more information or pictures, let me know!

I am wanting to buy a Seagate BarraCuda 510 NVME m.2 SSD - just wanting/needing to know WHAT Heat Sinks are compatible (as it doesn't come with one) and where can I find this information.

Hi guys, just opened my i5-6200u laptop for a re-paste, and noticed that the integrated graphics heat spreader has no thermal compound, and doesn't even make contact with the copper heat pipe/heatsink. Anyone know why that is? I've applied some and sealed her up, but just wondering what you guys would have done in my position. Thanks!

Does anyone have idea what is the diameter of the screws the connects the heat-sink to motherboard? I sent my computer to a repair half a year ago and they have changed my thermal paste even though they didn't have to (cause I've changed it few months earlier then them). now the problem is not that they changed the thermal paste (because I can do it myself) .the problem is now that I wanted to re-paste the computer again I noticed that 3 out of 6 of the screws are kind of eaten and destroyed. I was wondering how could I measure the diameter or at-least if someone knows cause I couldn't find it on the internet and I didn't secure those 3 screws like they should be secured because they are damaged and this affects the thermal performance. The image is not of my computer but one that I took from google so you can see which screws I talking about.

Hi everyone, I have a quick question, I'm buying a new motherboard that has an NVMe heatsink on the top slot. I use two NVMe drives, one for my system and one for my games, which one will heat up the most in common use ? As per usual the second slot is under the GPU so not the best for airflow... Thanks !

Hello, I have HP Laptop 15-da0xxx (i7 8550U and nvidia 130MX), i have a problem with overheating especially GPU when playing light games (Rocket league) it reaches 90 degrees celsius then starts throtteling. the CPU also reaches 94-95 degrees. i've replaced thermal paste & cleaned the dust from fan and nothing changed, but when I tried cooling pad and started Rocket League, both GPU & CPU temperatures dropped drastically!! (GPU max temp 79-80 & CPU max temp 76-80), and i'm able to play the game normally (60 FPS). Please help me what could be the problem ? PS: CPU idle temp : 57C GPU idle temp : 52C

I'm going to be buying this motherboard with intentions to use some pre-existing hardware, one of which is my M.2 drive with my OS and everything on it. The issue is that the M.2 drive comes with an RGB heatsink. I would like to not remove the heatsink so I was wondering if it would affect anything if I didn't use the motherboard's M.2 heatsink. Would this affect the performance if the chipset isn't actively cooled like intended? I realize that the motherboard has an M.2 slot on the back but I'll be using the Meshlicious so my GPU will be mounted behind the motherboard and I would prefer to not have my M.2 drive lodged between my motherboard and my GPU.

Hey guys. So basically I have a H510 elite case from NZXT with all the stock fans installed (2x AER RGB 140mm fans in front / 1x AER 140mm top exhaust / 1x AER 120mm rear exhaust). My case runs hot a lot like you can’t even touch the side panel. I have 3080 ti and Ryzen 9 5900x in my case. I am planning to get Noctua for top exhaust (A14 140mm) and rear exhaust (NF-A12 120mm). While keeping the 2 AER RGB 140mm in the front. So what so you guys think, will the Noctua work good as exhausts?

This pic is from the first time I was cleaning my new build. I saw these liquid particles on SSD heatsink and also on SSD itself. I didn't spill water on PC and AIO doesn't leak. This is something else that I don't know. I cleaned this of course but every time I disassembly the heatsink, these particles are always there. Not as much as the pic anymore but there are still some. I wouldn't care a lot if temps didn't drop like 10°C on idle. Currently it's 47°C on idle which is really high in my opinion. I bought my motherboard around 10-11 months ago, just some days after B550's launch. It's a B550 Gaming Edge Wi-Fi to be exact. MSI's support told me that I can replace the one in motherboard with some thermal pad. My question is, do these wear out/melt that quick? If yes, what can I buy for a replacement thermal pad? You'll ask about case airflow, my case is Xigmatek Aquarius Plus (you probably never heard it before, its fan layout is like Lian Li O11 Dynamic) with correct fan layout (intakes at the bottom + 240mm AIO as intake on the rear panel and 3 on top + 1 on the back as exhaust).

apple Apple Mac mini mid 2011 Thermal problem
FreqEvans posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Hello everyone, I'm Ivan. Straight to the point: I have an Apple Mac mini mid 2011, dual-core i5, 16 GB RAM, HD graphics 3000, SSD. Room temp from 18 to 25, depending on season and weather. My Mac on boot stays at 45-50, when I open Chrome or Safari jumps at 60-70, when I open Logic Pro it goes at 80-85, sometimes at 90. What should I do? (Don't say change Mac please ) -
Hello, So I have a bit of a weird one... I recently received a defect EVGA 1060 6GB single fan card (06G-P4-6161-KR). The fan had died and former owner tried to fix, but no luck. I got only the PCB and mounting bracket - no cooler, aluminum heatsink or backplate. I did however have a Kraken G12 and a Corsair H55 lying around, thinking it would work out just fine (although, it looks foolish due to placement of chip as well as lenght of card). My only issue now is: how do I cool all the small components, VRM, Mosfets etc. Do I buy a set of heatsinks with adhesive? Thermal tape? I guess thermal pads wont work as I have nothing to conduct the heat. Bonus: What do I need to have cooled and what don't I need to cool? Forgive my mistakes, I am fairly new to playing around with GPU's Have an awesome day, thanks for reading :)

Country: UK Hardware: Asus Tuf b550 plus, 2TB WD Black SN850 M.2 PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PCIe 3.0 250gb Hi there, this weekend I'll be building my new PC. I've spent alot of time watching and reading about how m.2 works, the difference between the controller and NAND and how heat effects them differently. I'll be using the heatsink my MB comes with on the WD 2tb m.2 but do I need to buy another heatsink, say for example a sabrent rocket heatsink, on my Samsung which will have my OS on it. I've read both the pro's and negatives so was looking for some real world advise from people who have or haven't been using m.2 heatsinks daily and how it performs depending on temps. Thanks in advance for any responses

So a few days ago i posted a topic here for advices on a "D15S to CLC 280" upgrade. The replys uniformly suggests me to just kept the D15S. Unfortunately things goes south faster than i expected. As it turns out the performance of D15S relies heavily on the ambient temperature and the air temperature inside the case. After a day of use (or gaming) the CPU (5900X) is much easier to throttle than in the morning of a day, especially the other heat source inside the case is a 450W beast GPU. So i started to find a better cooling solution, only to find out that i was in an awkward position because of the case(4000D Airflow). Don't get me wrong, i think this case is fantastic for its price and the airflow itself is very decent, but only when you are trying to cool down a overclocked 5900X, the problem start to occur. Overall there are these problems if i want to upgrade to a better cooling solution (280 AIO and better) 1. Front radiator problem: 360 aio fits, but only in a non-GN-approved way, and there really isn't that many affordable high-performance 360 AIO cooler in the market. Liquid freezer 2 is a good option, but the radiator is too thick to fit in the front. 280 aio fits well and the pricing is reasonable, but for a push-pull config it interferes with my GPU, no matter it is a slim rad aio or a liquid freezer ii. 2. Top radiator problem: 280 aio does not fit when you have a slightly taller ram. Ripjaws V is not the tallest ram, but still tall enough to invalid this option. (slim rad may fit, 240mm is not affected) 3. Exhaust fan problem: The rear of the case can only accommodate a 120mm fan, and the top mesh is pretty dense. My S12As can only move a bit of air through them. 4. Case size problem: Even if i saved enough money for a custom loop, this case is too small for one. So these are some ideas i have and i'd like to hear your opinions: 1. Wait till next-gen D15 and upgrade to the new fan (possible 1-2c improvement) 2. 240/280mm slim rad aio on the top (?c improvement) Example: CLC 280, EK AIO Basic 240 3. 280mm aio front with half push-pull and half push only (?c improvement) Example: Liquid Freezer 280 4. 360mm slim rad aio (?c improvement) Example: EK AIO Basic 360, H150i family Thanks in advance.

I have a XPG GAMMIX S5 PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 2280 Solid State Drive (https://www.xpg.com/ye/xpg/587) there's a heatsink on it that isn't looking good as compared to the one on the motherboard So I wanna safely remove the heatsink from the ssd. Can somebody please link me to a video or direct me how should I do it.

I have an acer nitro an515-55. I repasted it about 4 months ago with kryonaut Grizzly. The idol temp was around 45°c and 83°c max when gaming AAA games. Since then idol temp is around 60°c and today it reached 98°c. I’m going to repaste it again, however it seems too soon. I’ve read that it should last at least a year before needing to repaste. Also I noticed that the heatsink was quite rough to touch and when I was cleaning it with cotton pads, the cotton would get stuck to it. This doesn’t seem normal to me. Would lapping it be a good idea?

Hey so I have the evga 1070ti and it's a blower card I have a pretty budget oriented build. I got a cool case it's the segotep phoenix but my problem is that I have a blower card and my heat tends to be a problem with 3 intake fans and 2 exhaust. What I want to do is get a 2 or 3 fan heatsink and completely replace the on I have but I have no idea if that's possible or if I should do it. I would love some opinions questions or suggestions.

Hi all, Over the years a rattling has started from either the case fan or the heatsink fan. I've just now disconnected the case fan. I believe I still occasionally hear the rattling. My Coolermaster heat sink was never the appropriate size for this case. When I close the case, the lid presses against the top of the Coolermaster (just the 4 outcropping corners of the unit, no contact is being made with any actual functioning parts). I think that is potentially it. Any other reason for a rattling sound? Also, should I have any fear keeping the case fan disconnected (blowing hot air out of the case). The Coolermaster I have I think produces quite a bit of cool air inside the case. I don't do anything crazy with the rig. Currently monitoring it with Open Hardware Monitor. I could get a replacement case fan but if leaving it disconnected removes the rattling sound and doesn't produce a problem otherwise, then I may just leave it that way. Thank you for any tips

So I have a server set up, with a Supermicro H8SGL motherboard and an AMD Opteron 6282SE cpu. I bought both of these second hand, what I did not realized at the time that the cooler the guy gave me was a 1U cooler with a 40mm fan, which totally can't handle the heat. So I'm on the hunt for a new heatsink and fan combo, but as I see there is no market for G34 compatible coolers. There is a Noctua type which would be my best option, but there is not a single one on stock. There are two Dynatrons too, the Dynatron A14 and the Dynatron T575 which would be great, but as I'm located in Europe, the shipping costs are exceeding the value of the cooler. I found some mentions of a Musky mod for CM Hyper 212+, but the forum posts detailing this are gone. So I'm asking you, if you have any cheap mods for current heatsinks, or heatsinks that are compatible (but that's not detailed in their specs), please comment. The height of the heatsink doesn't matter, I have a big tower case. I'd like at least an 92mm but more like a 120mm fan compatible heatsink. Thanks for reading my post, have a nice day!

I just build my PC. I bought some RAM sticks (Trident Z Neo 2x16 GB), when turning my PC It will POST (as long as your wipe your CMOS). After some time computer just shut downs (it never gets passed Splash Vendor Screen (Rog Strix B550). RGB always turns on after 5 seconds. Here things I tried, Using one stick at the time Swaping places Extra info: (No judgements please) Heatsink was in the way of my AIO cooler, so I remove a little piece of heat shield (one fang) it was a clean cut no damage to the RAM. Could vibration mess up the RAM ? Thanks

Hey, so i have a ryzen 7 3700x and it came with a heatsink, but it still gets my cpu hot, up to 70 degrees c and I want it to be cooler so i got a huge rgb heatsink but it only has 4 heatpipes but has 2 120 mm fans, will this new heatsink work better than the stock heatsink?

Hello, I recently found a heatsink and a cooler master fan from an old pc I was repurposing. The fan is a bit small, but the heatsink is quite beefy from what I can see. My main rig has a ryzen 5 3600, with stock cooler installed, on a msi b450 vdh pro max board. I was wondering if I can mount the heatsink I found with the ryzen fan, and use that solution to cool the ryzen. Will that work and be compatible, and also will it be worth it?

Hey guys. I've been a PC technician for 5 years and built countless custom PCs. Yesterday I assembled my i7-10700K build, and I tested to see if It'd POST without a heatsink installed. It posted and I shut it off after about 10-15 seconds. I've done this before on other builds, but never thought much of it. My question is, could I have done any damage to the CPU or mobo socket? What's the likelihood something is fried?

This christmas I am planning on upgrading my cpu to a ryzen 5 2600. I already have a hyper h412r cooler and the 2600 comes with a wraith stealth cooler. Which one should I use?

So I am getting an Asus Rog x-570e and am getting 2 nvme SSD’s, 1 Samsung 970 evo 500gb and a Sabrent Rocket 4 plus 1 tb. I want to use the really big Heatsink that comes with it, but since I’m getting a 3080 I won’t have enough room so I’m going to put my 970 in the big slot above the first PCIE slot. Do I need a heatsink or no?
