It's undeniable that we are lacking mostly on Single Core CPU Power, rather than GPU power. Der 8auer stated lately in an interview, that there will be some exciting new Technology coming at the end of the year addressing that issue. Der8auer said about gaming PC's: "We need higher clock rates, more efficiency, we do not need more cores". He argues that manufacturers should instead focus on performance and efficiency, IPC increases (Instructions per Clock). Hartung (Der8auer's last name) says that 5 GHz per core is the goal, but then it should be over. He says that the clock frequency is not the most important factor, but the efficiency of the architecture. Here he mysteriously referred to interesting hardware that is expected for the end of the year, but wanted or could not tell what exactly that is. [source: winfuture.de/news,103875.html ] Have you got any Info about what he's was talking about?

https://www.theverge.com/2018/5/9/17333292/fortnite-cheater-lawsuit Defendant is a cheater,” said Epic Games in its October 2017 lawsuit against a 14-year-old boy. “Nobody likes a cheater. And nobody likes playing with cheaters.” C.R. is being sued for live-streaming himself using a cheat he found online and then linking out to it in the YouTube description box. Epic Games doesn’t claim that defendant created cheat, sold a cheat, or even run a forum that distributes cheats. They are just discouraging streamers who use Cheat codes and Patches to attract followers because allowing such a trend will make the cheats spread like wildfire and cause a MiniMilitia 2 situation where the public lobbies were swarmed by "self crowned hacker" end users which quickly made casual gamers who were genuinely playing the game abiding to the rules and regulations of the game. Quoting Verge "The lawsuit gives a few examples of what Fortnite cheats can do. “A cheat might enable the cheater to see through solid objects, teleport, impersonate another player by ‘spoofing’ that player’s user name, or make moves other players cannot, such as a spin followed by an instant headshot to another player.” It’s not clear what kind of cheat C.R. was using, but whatever it was, it was giving him a huge leg up in Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode, which pits up to 100 players against each other on a map." It is not clear if the workaround or fix to the cheat is already in place or not. but it seems Epic games is going through with the case. Verge says "It was probably this counter-notice that kicked off the unlikely lawsuit to begin with. The way that DMCA counter-notices work is that YouTube will keep the content offline for 10 days, but if the copyright claimant — in this case, Epic Games — files a legal action, YouTube has to continue to keep it offline. And that’s exactly what Epic Games did, before even realizing they were going after a 14-year-old. That fact only came to their attention when C.R.’s mother, Lauren Rogers, sent a letter to the court, pointing out that C.R. was a minor and minors are not capable of consenting to contracts. She had never authorized him to play Fortnite, which meant that the EULA was not binding on her son. Lauren Rogers isn’t wrong, per se. It’s true that, in general, minors do not have the capacity to make contracts. (It’s why standard EULAs like Fortnite’s ask minors to only use the service with the supervision of their parent or guardian, who must themselves agree to the EULA.) By playing Fortnite without his mother’s permission, technically speaking, C.R. is outside of the EULA. But also technically speaking, playing Fortnite without being covered under the EULA might be a digital trespass, or worse, computer fraud and abuse. That might sound wild and ridiculous in a world where minors are almost certainly clicking through EULAs without their parents’ permission, but the whole underage internet exists on the precarious legal fiction that all these teens are being supervised by their parents, who are bound by these contracts that no one is actually reading. But all this is a little beside the point. Being a minor can’t stop you from getting sued for copyright infringement."

Hello everyone, long time watcher, and first-time poster. Reddit failed me so I thought I would finally join and reach out to the LTT community. I am looking to upgrade my monitor setup. I currently have an Acer R240HY http://a.co/9dMb62O and some cheap 1366 x 768 monitor I found at a thrift store. My use case for my home desktop is as follows: I am a Front-End Web Developer, gamer, and just started doing digital art (mainly pixel art). My desktop config is a i7 2600k matched with a GTX 1070. I play everything from Minecraft with my wife and friends, older titles, newer titles, and casually some "competitive" games. I have been going back and forth between getting a bigger monitor with a better resolution for more screen space for coding and art. To wanting higher refresh rate for gaming since I have a 1070 that could handle some higher frames. Though I am trying to stay away from TN panels because I hear a lot of negative things about them. I have never used a higher refresh monitor or had a monitor higher than 1080p, so I don't have any reference as to whether 75hz is worth upgrading to or if 144 is the best to upgrade to. I am not even sure if getting higher refresh rate is even worth it for me. My budget would be preferably under $400. I have been hunting around and have come up with a couple options, but please, if you have other monitor ideas share them! BenQ GW2765HT http://a.co/gbwFiKX $300 LG 29Uc88-B http://a.co/1Qmy704 $370 Dell S2417DG YNY1D http://a.co/enAovZf $370 Asus PB277Q http://a.co/1JCZbxI $314 So any advice you all could impart would be greatly appreciated! I am leaning towards ditching the higher refresh rate and get higher resolution and a larger monitor, but if you all can convince me otherwise I am ready to hear your opinions!

I am planning to buy the 8700K. but reading the news lately especially below link I have been having some doubts cleared up. As a gamer or a common man, how does it affect us in a real world scenario in day to day tasks or gaming? Are the fixes ok to buy now or should i wait until the generation of the chipset? Recently I have had a lot of trouble coming up with good names. I have never been happy with any of them and always changed after a short time. I tried searching up fancy english words, most exotic nicknames, twisting norwegian ones and so on. Names I have had so far include Opalescent, Delirium, IVIuted (IVI = M), Menschling, Titanicium. So the point of the post, could anyone help me come up with a tag? I would like it to be short (not more than 8 letters/numbers/symbols) and be something that isn't a word. So not Cyclone, Big, Hard, Tornade, FoxHunter. Games it will be used for is Dota 2, CS:GO and League of Legends.

Hi! so next week is my birthday and I have saved about 2,000€ (about 2,239 USD, 2,911 CAD) for a complete new System. I'll have a pcpartpicker list at the end linked for you guys to adjust to your local prices/ best offer. Currently I am running my Lenovo T440p which is okay for work but it sucks at gaming and it takes a lot of time to build my android apps since it runs on an i5-4300M. So I am aiming for a nice machine which allows me to do my Android-App builds fast, has enough punch to run emulators, virtual machines since I like to fool around with Linux Systems and has the power to run games at 1440p. There will be two OS installed: ArchLinux for work and Win10 for fun. I really don't want a system which blinks/lights up and stuff - therefore the Fractal R5 w/o window! - it should be as silent as possible and should serve me a couple of years For now I chose these components: (prices are from amazon.de/geizhals.at which is an austrian/german price comparison site) processor: i7-6700k 340 € cooler: noctua nh-d15 89 € (I am a simple austrian, i see austrian products, i buy them ) motherboard: asus z170-A 150€ memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB DDR4-3000, CL15-17-17-35) 86 € case: Fractal Design R5 black 99€ ssd: samsung EVO 850 500 Gb 150 € (might be split into two one for my Arch Linux Installation and one for Windows 10) hdd: WD Green 3TB 105 € and now the two parts which i can't get my head around: psu: Corsair RMx 650W ~110€ (enough???) the RMx 750W would only cost 10€ more (according to this calulator my machine with some future upgrades draws 457W) additional info: i have some phones running on a powered usb hub, the occasional external 2.5'' external HDD for backups, 1-4 xbox 360 controllers, a mouse and my trusty cherry board mx 3.0 (browns) ot: man I love this keyboard graphics card: EVGA GTX 1070 SC /FTW ??? or the THE MSI Gaming X GTX 1070 ??? (a 2nd monitor should be ok in the future?) this should be around 1,580€ (about 1,769 USD, 2,299 CAD) - I still need a new monitor, mine is 10+ years old! LIST: PcPartPickerList comments on all parts but especially help with the psu and graphics card is much appreciated, as well where I could save a couple of €. A recommendation for a nice IPS 144Hz 1440p Monitor would be great but I guess it's OT here. Thank you guys in advance, greetings from the alps of Austria, and the obligatory "sry for my bad English"

Hey all i was just wondering what you guys think about Asus? Are they durable? I'm looking into some +1200$ models for gaming, video editing and other activities and I want it to stay with me for +5 years. Are they durable?
-
Hello everyone! This is my first topic here So I'm trying to decide which of these two laptops to get.. I'm gonna be using it to edit full HD videos, gaming, and other usual stuff like browsing and watching movies. Also I like to multitask a lot. They're both Acer V nitro. One config has i5 6300hq 2.3 GHz Nvidia GTX 960m 4gb 1tb HDD+128gb ssd Costs 900€ ...... The other has i7 6700hq 2.6 GHz Nvidia GTX 960m 2gb 1tb HDD+256ssd Costs 1100€Do I need the i7 or should I just go for the i5 when it comes to gaming performance and video editing? Should I go for the first one given the fact the GTX 960m has 4gb of VRAM as opposed to just 2gb or is it not that important? Keep in mind the price differenceThanks for your help

Hello, my friend asked me to help him upgrading his rig. I know a bit but i want to be sure to do everything right. So he has an r290 from Saphire, a Xeon 1230 v3, 530 Watt be quiet! Pure Power L8 CM Modular 80+ Bronze, and a Gigabyte H87-HD3 Intel H87 So.1150 Dual Channel DDR3 ATX Retail. He wants to be future proof and wants to play all his games on ultra (msaa not required). So with an 1k budget i thought he could upgrade to: Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3P 1151 Socket i7 6700k (idk if the 6600k would be great too, but he said he dont mind the extra 100 bucks) KFA² GeForce GTX 1070 Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 16gb DDR4 2400mhz RAM I know some of you will think this is an normal upgrade, but this is my first recommendation for a friend who dont know so much about pc. And i dont know if everything i choosed is a good pick. (english is not my main language, so sorry for that) Edit: I totally forgot to say, that i was thinking he just could upgrade to an i7 4790ky extra 8gb ram and the same 1070gtx. Would be this future proof too?

Hey there fellow tech dudes. I was thinking, i know it's dangerous and not recommended, but i wanted to know if you good people had any ideas for an upgrade to my current build? Currently i have an: MSI Z97m-G43 motherboard Intel Core I5 4690K 8GB Kingston 1600mhz ddr3 memory. MSI GTX 960 Gaming 2G 2x 120GB SSD. 750W Energon PSU Everything is built into an old acer case. (i know this one needs to be replaced) Any good suggestions will be highly appreciated. Only things i'm not willing to upgrade at the moment is CPU and GPU. Thanks in advance.!

Hi guys, I don't know what build I choose to play games. 1° or 2°? 1° I5 4670 GA-H81M-S1 RAM 8GB (2X4GB) HYPER X DDR3 or 2° I5 6400 GA-B150M-D3H DDR3 RAM 8 GB (1x8GB)
