So i recently upgraded to a fx 8350 and OC'ed it to 4.3 GHZ which is stable, however me and my friend have the same CPU and we both have been suffering random FPS drops he has a MSI - 7693 MOBO and i have the MSI 970A-G43 we both have sufficient PSU also we both have 750W any help or tips on this? MY SPECS: CPU: FX-8350 MOBO: MSI 970A-G43 GPU: R9 390X PSU: EVGA 750W Cooler: Hyper 212 EVO RAM: Fury X 2x4GB 1600MHZ

Parts: Motherboard: MSI 970 Gaming CPU: AMD FX-6300 GPU: Zotac GTX 1050 ti PSU: EVGA 600 B1, 80+ BRONZE 600W RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 2133 MHz When I turn it on, all of the fans and LEDs power up without issue. The buzzer however gives me 5 beeps which according to online sources means a CPU issue. In addition however, my graphics card will power on but will not output any video to the monitor. Another problem concerning me is that USB peripherals plugged into the USB ports directly connected to the motherboard experience power flickering; they will turn on and off once a second. Out of all of the USB ports, there are only 3 that will even power the peripherals at all, the rest flicker as previously stated. I believe that this could be a defective motherboard but i’m not sure if it could be the CPU or PSU causing any of the issues. Any ideas? [SOLVED] I narrowed the solution down to a defective motherboard and RMA-ed the board. Upon installing the new board they sent me, the computer started up perfectly fine no issues at all. Hope this helps someone!

Ok, i have a AMD FX-4300 3.8Ghz its not the beefiest bastard about by any means, but i have had a bit of a fiddle with the over clocking, it can be pretty stable at around 4.5-4.6Ghz but once it starts to go underload it starts pumping out around about 70c heat. if anyone else has some tricks with overclocking amd's id love to hear and see some setups. BUT i mostly wanna hear what is a acceptable temp margins for the AMD FX CPUs, i read some people said keep it below 60, which is why its sitting on a 5% OC atm, my cooling is done by a H55 Corsair, not very beefy, but it goes alright for a mighty mouse AIO cooler, i beefed it up a little with 2 Corsair SP120 fans to get the airflow shifting (the stock one was a bit above a mouse cough and wasn't doing it for me). my Mobo is a Asrock 970 Extreme 3 R2.0 so its OC is a bit different and its results i know will vary. but any OC info on settings and TEMP range will be handy, also some suggestions

So my friend is getting a 1080, but his current processor is obviously not up to the task, in an AMD FX 8350. I have told him he can get a 6500, but he wants to know his other options. What can he do? He only has a small budget.

Source: Tom's Hardware Source 2: The Register Update (Aug 28, 2019): Source 3: AnandTech PDF of lawsuit agreement: https://regmedia.co.uk/2019/08/27/amd-eight-core-settlement.pdf I think this would be a reasonable payout since it has been 8 years since the first Bulldozer CPU came out. The lawsuit itself regarding the marketing of the CPU cores mainly in the FX 8xxx lineup of having 8-cores I believe is kind of a false advertisement; it would be like buying a really nice car that featured air conditioning but you can not use it when the car is moving. I still have my FX-8350 and it runs pretty okay, but performance is not really great for the amount of heat generated and power consumed. With Ryzen, it seems AMD changed their way of marketing without trying to really say anything that would comeback and hit them.

looking to see if anyone knows how much these sell for now days and any information on it

Hey guys! Would I need to reinstall windows 10 if I am upgrading from a FX6300 to a R5 2600? Or can I just put the SSD in the new PC and use it just like that?

Since my laptop died, I recovered my old 2013 build with an 8350, 8Gbs of ram and slapped a Power vision RX 580 onto it, problem is that the cooling is not so great, and I want it to be as quiet as possible, so I have 3 doubts 1.What CPU Cooler should I get for this CPU? (Arround 40$ for that) 2. Since my PowerVision RX 580 Red Dragon GPu is very loud under load, I was thinking of buying this https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Accelero-Graphics-Efficient-DCACO-V820001-GBA01/dp/B00IEO8H22 But I'm not sure if it will fit and if it's worth it. 3. I was thinking of buying 4 Noctuafans for the case, one rear one front and two on top, should I get the brown ones or the black ones? Thank you very much, I consider myself a noon when it comes to cooling

Hello everyone. Look, I have a problem here. First, I have a Asus Aura 970 pro mobo and i try to put an cpu FX 8350 and the pc do not start and the VRAM led is on. Now when in this motherboard i put other cpu like Phenom II the pc is start w/o any problem when i change the cpu with 8350 or 6300 the pc don't start i tryed with other rams and other rams( all ddr3 ) other PSU and nothing I tryed with other version of bios and nothing I TRYED WITH OTHER MOTHERBOARD LIKE CROSSHAIR V FORMULA -Z and i have the same problem in all mobos the fx cpu's 8350 and 6300 work well in gigabyte GA970 mobo. Thank you

Okay so I bought a fx 3800 recently a backup gpu for my main pc with an asrock x58 extreme 3. when i inserted the card in the pc wouldn't even post. I tried multiple pcie slots, no post. I inserted my r9 270x back in and it was working fine. Then i took out an old dell core 2 duo pc and inserted the card in that. it's working perfectly fine. what could be the problem? aren't pcie graphics cards supposed to be universally compatible?

Hey everybody first time posting pls bear with me. I just needed somewhere i could share how excited i am about this upgrade it feels so overdue. My current rig is a mash up of newer and somewhat older parts and its definitely starting to show its age, takes like 2 to 3 trys to post when its cold idk y ?. and gameplay is almost unplayable at this point avg 25 -30 fps on low to med setting. I think is have gotten used to playing with the lag, Its bad lol. Cant wait to build the new rig. just ordered the cpu and motherboard last week Here the specs Old CPU: Amd 8100 overclocked to 3.1 GHz (o yea its hot rodded) Gpu: Asus gtx 970 ( only quality thing in this rig) Motherboard: (ASRock idk but its so old it has sata and ribbon cable ports on it). PSU: Corsair CX Series 750 Watt Ram: 8gbs ( some Chinese no-name brand) New CPU:Amd ryzen 9 3900x Gpu Asus gtx 970 (im holding out for the nivida 3000 card to drop, yea i know it will be a bottleneck ,it shouldn't that bad for short-term) Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 AORUS Ultra ( I would like to hear opinions on this board, felt a little unsure on what would be a good board.) Ram: still not sure PSU: Is it chill to use the old corsair 750 or do i something beefier?

(This also counts for focus based PSUs like Antec Earthwatts and Asus Strix, with the exception of the nzxt-e and the new Focus GM, GX, PX and SGX lines (it meets 2.52 atx, which require hardware changes)) The Seasonic Focus line has been suffering major criticism on the PSU subforum lately. Why? Old revisions (2017-2018) will shut off on some GPUs (970, 1080 ti, vega 64, Vega VII, 2080 ti). it'll will trigger the overcurrent protection, and will shut down immediately. This is likely due to the high transients the GPUs are known to put out New revisions (2018-2019) have a bigger headroom, but aren't built for it and start to ripple at the loads where the PSU would shut down at with the older revision. If you plan on buying one, either wait for the v2, or choose a different PSUs, for this you can check the PSU tier list, or ask around on the forum. With that is focus known to be quite loud under load, has a staggering 200% opp on the 3.3v rail, but this isn't as concerning as the above mentioned problems. edit: the 2019 based Focus GX/GM/PX have fixed mentioned issues Sources: @PSUGuru, Tomshardware, Guru3d, seasonic, pceva

So just the other day i bought some narly Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal grease... paste. I did it since i decided to change my Sapphire Nitro RX 580's thermal paste... because reasons. I used the Arctic MX4. Problem is it's definetly pretty old... but mainly my temps went up. Now I've done this several times (like thermal paste changes) and i have made sure the spread was good. Now i have a Be quiet pure rock cooler for my CPU (Q1) and i was wondering if it was worth the hassle (because that mounting bracket is the bane of my existence) to change the stock thermal paste as well. (Q2)And finally for my friend, whose thermal paste i changed with the kryonaut. He uses a Xeon e3 1231 v3 ((Q3)im also wondering why it's so expensive second hand?) He uses the stock Intel cooler (the blow down one with the copper plate) and after turning it off and going in the bios he was as 55c, after some cleaning and such, both his cpu and gpu were at 40c... i didn't change his GPU thermal paste.(he has a 5-6 year old R9 280/x) Now his case is an odd one. Unlile mine (which has two 120mm at the front and two at the back and top) he has one on the lower side and back. So im open for all suggestions.

My wife's PC has been behaving a little odd. Sometimes it will turn on and other times it will just sit fans running without a successful POST. She has an HP Envy 1414 (specs listed below). Her computer has been having problems and I have read on many forums that this pre-built model is just trash as far as reliability is concerned so I figured since I recently upgraded my rig, it was time to introduce her to the power and beauty of custom built PC's. Since I recently spent quite a bit of money on my rig we decided that for now we would just salvage the good parts from her PC and replace the bad parts. HP Envy H8 1414 System Specs: CPU: AMD FX 6120 CPU cooler: Stock Motherboard: Proprietary AM3 or AM3+ socket uATX form factor Memory: 10 GB (2x 4 GB 1x 2 GB) Kingston DDR3 1600 SSD: None HDD: 1 TB Western Digital WD Blue 10EZEX GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7450 PSU: Proprietary can't see any wattage listed Case: Proprietary So last night her new motherboard arrived along with her aftermarket CPU cooler and this morning I began to salvage what I could from her PC and clean out her case. When it came time to remove the CPU I found that HP had not only used a crappy Intel knock off stock cooler for the CPU, they had also used way too much thermal paste. So much thermal paste in fact- that it had essentially glued the CPU to the heatsink and gushed out the sides onto edges of the CPU chip. And it gets worse- because when I managed to get the fan off the CPU I found that the thermal paste was on some of the edge pins of the CPU and on the socket. I was going to replace the motherboard anyway but is there a way I can save the CPU or does my wife need to wait for a CPU replacement to arrive as well?

Been struggling for a while with the cpu underclocking to 1.4ghz under load. Initially had the problem with stock cooler, so my first thought was - ok, overheating, threw in a good cooler, changed thermopaste, but the problem persisted, so now im thinking - chipset? motherboard? I have fucked around the bios, updated it, left most of the amd turbo crap off. Power plan is set to high performance. AMD overdrive shows Thermal margin -185C after the underclock and 38-40C on idle before the underclock. After it underclocks, the thermal margin of -185C doesnt change even when keeping it idle for extended periods of time, even though the CPU should cool down, the reading says the temp is super high. The temperature reading on the CPU is unreal and simply impossible, the thing would be melting under that temp, but with amd temp readings being as inaccurate as they are - the further away from the optimal temp it is, cpu could be overheating, but looks more like a sensor error. As mentioned before with the thermal margin, the temperatures shown here do the exact same thing, once it reaches a certain threshold, the cpu temp shows 206-207C constantly, no matter how long the PC is left to idle. On idle the cpu temp seems accurate - 32C-35C. Everything dropping down to abysmal speeds just kills the performance, a restart fixes the issue for a while, until i do something cpu intensive, which means this happens when the cpu/system reaches a certain temperature. Cleaning out the case helps, so it could be the chipset overheating? I have ghetto rigged the system fan2 to blow air on the motherboard itself, which helped quite alot, the underclock seemed to stop almost completely, it would kick in only in cpu intensive scenarios, csgo for example. But that doesnt seem to help either now, since i havent cleaned my case in a while, but having to clean the thing every 3 months just to not run into any problems is ridiculous. Im not sure what to do here. Replacing the cpu/motherboard? Sensor going retarded makes the most sense here. I mean, i can see some people saying - Oh yeah, just throw the thing in the garbage can, ohh boy, i want to, but i cant spare the money for a decent intel/ryzen setup. This FX has driven me nuts. Looking into the motherboard, it seems to be quite shit, it has 3+1 phases supporting a max of 95w and its not heatsinked. There are so many things that could be failing here, im just not educated enough to see the real problem here. I mean, swapping out the cpu and seeing if the problem persists, and then the motherboard would be the ideal way, but i dont have spare fx processors lying around, same thing for the motherboard.

AMD is currently on the negative end of a class action lawsuit due to their FX processors. AMD advertised their FX processor as having 8 cores, but now the courts must decide what a "core" actually is. Unlike Ryzen, AMD's FX series had a different architecture and they have even said that with this design, they have approximately 80% of the performance of "true" 8-core processors. The argument then, is that people didn't pay for the performance of a 6-core, they paid for an 8-core. This all having been said, I personally don't think there is a whole lot to this lawsuit and I think it should be dropped. That having been said, I didn't buy one of AMD's top-of-the-line processors in 2015. What do you guys think? So im stuck with my old FX-6300 and im looking to upgrade. Here is the parts that I would like to buy for the upgrade and I would like to hear if it is worth getting this or if there is other options that I could use, my budget is $450. (BTW my GPU is a 1050Ti OC Zotac card) https://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/zotac-geforce-gtx-1050-ti-oc-edition (I have have a 1080p 24inch 144Hz HP 25x monitor, and the main games ill play is Rainbow Six Siege, EFT (Escape From Tarkov), and PUBG) CPU/Motherboard https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.3646864 CPU Cooler (CPU cooler wasnt included) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835856117&ignorebbr=1 RAM (Idk if this is good for ryzen as I heard ryzen needs good ram) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232756&ignorebbr=1 Thermal Paste (Why not lmao) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4RE3R12650&ignorebbr=1

So, I made the choice of getting a Radeon RX5700 about a week ago, and I've been loving it ever since, but it's really funky with my trash CPU. I was in need of a GPU after my previous one failed, so I went for a worth-while purchase and got the RX5700 while it was on sale for about only $290. It runs incredibly well on certain games and its speed is exceptional, destroying my other consideration in almost every way: the 1660Ti. However, my old setup is lagging me behind while using this GPU. I'm still running AM3+, my CPU being an unlocked AMD FX 6300, my ram being a pathetic 1333mhz, but totaling 16gb of ddr3 memory, my other stuff's a gigabyte 78lmt-usb3 r2 MB, solid state main drive, some storage HDD's, you get the picture. When I try using the GPU while gaming, things get a little weird. Some games run fine, like Forza Horizon 4 and Spyro: Reignited Trilogy (Max Graphics for Both). However some games using older architecture, like even something insanely light like Java Vanilla Minecraft, will cause lag in places that are WAY within this beastly card's limitations. I find this so strange because I'll be running a new game like Spyro with no sweat at 60fps, fullscreen, ultra graphics and vsync, but the moment I run something that isn't a newly built game, like Destiny 2, (Steam Port), I get horrid lag (avg. 40 fps) when viewing a lot of geometry, that doesn't change at all despite me altering my graphics settings from absolute low to absolute highest. My main guess is because this card is so new and beefy, my old CPU just isn't good enough for keeping up with the Navi framework when it tries to run older games. However, if I know AMD well enough, it could be a driver-side incompatibility, something they just haven't gotten around to fixing yet, or perhaps never will since they've dropped their FX line of products years ago. I'm planning on upgrading my setup to AM4+, but a good out-of-the-box setup for a gaming rig that uses the full power of this card would be $400. I know my setup's garbage, but I'm considering running with it for at least a bit more time. Until I can afford a proper and steady upgrade, are there any sort of suggestions anybody might have about increasing the level of compatibility so older stuff can run more smoothly?
-
To start this off, I run an AMD FX-8120 @ O.C. 3.4GHz and I seem to get fairly decent framerates on many games and hasn't caused me any issues Do any of you out there believe there are still good FX series processors that are worth looking into? P.S. Not looking for Intel fan hate on this topic
