Hello, I am working on a mail server for my company and have set up Postfix, Dovecot and Squirrelmail. However I am unable to receive mails on Squirrelmail. I am able to send e-mails though. /etc/squirrelmail/apache.conf: Alias /squirrelmail /usr/share/squirrelmail <Directory /usr/share/squirrelmail> Options FollowSymLinks <IfModule mod_php5.c> php_flag register_globals off </IfModule> <IfModule mod_dir.c> DirectoryIndex index.php </IfModule> # access to configtest is limited by default to prevent information leak <Files configtest.php> order deny, allow deny from all allow from 127.0.0.1 </Files> </Directory> # users will prefer a simple URL like http://webmail.example.com #<VirtualHost 1.2.3.4> # DocumentRoot /usr/share/squirrelmail # ServerName webmail.example.com #</VirtualHost> # redirect to https when available (thanks omen@descolada.dartmouth.edu) # # Note: There are multiple ways to do this, and which one is suitable for # your site's configuration depends. Consult the apache documentation if # you're unsure, as this example might not work everywhere. # #<IfModule mod_rewrite.c> # <IfModule mod_ssl.c> # <Location /squirrelmail> # RewriteEngine on # RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !^on$ [NC] # RewriteRule . https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L] # </Location> # </IfModule> #</IfModule> /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf: ## Dovecot configuration file # If you're in a hurry, see http://wiki2.dovecot.org/QuickConfiguration # "doveconf -n" command gives a clean output of the changed settings. So school is starting up quite soon and Id figure I wanted to kickstart my brain with some small scripting projects to get my mind out of "summer vacation". And while setting my my home SSH server I found an interesting idea. Being on residential internet, I cannot have a static ip. I even tried "persuading" (complaining) to my ISP and nope. granted it doesn't change that too often but I need on demand access to my server throughout the year. my solution right now involves running a script daily checking for ip changes and emailing it to myself if it does change. that part was simple enough. now being the incredibly lazy person I am, I want to be able to write a script that can retrieve and parse my mail on the client end, and on the fly update my ssh config file So i don't have to manually type the address. Though cannot seem to find a simple enough utility that can at least get a list of emails. anyone have ideas?

Source: Their Twitter - reason for not linking direct later on in post. So Anonymous, or a member of Anonymous or someone trying to claim to be part of Anonymous, has shown their attempt to support for the people of Baltimore with the latest attack against the Baltimore Police Department. They (being an "Anonymous twitter account" just linked on their twitter feed a Pastebin of email addresses for the officers of the Baltimore PD. Why I am not linking direct, I don't want to get in to any forum or legal troubles, if you look quick, you may find the tweet before it gets removed. But, I have taken a screenshot to show this is not fake, but have also blurred out the email addresses for the reason stated above. My thoughts. While yes, supporting people is good and all, I don't think it is wise putting the emails of officers out to the public. Anonymous or a single member has just painted a big target on their head from officials, mind, it is Anonymous or their are trying to be Anonymous, so I don't think they really give two monkeys. Your Thoughts? Please leave them down below.

Hey all! In general, I know next to nothing about servers. Literally. I learn by doing, please help me doooooo. I replaced my 4 year old computer, sad I know, but it was her time. Core i3 3.72ghz x 2cores, 8 gb ddr3 1600, and a GTX 670 went with her. Are these components good enough to run a small local minecraft server? or perhaps host a small website/ personal email account? I dont want to throw these parts out when they have so much use left, but they wont be sitting next to my Keyboard again, thats for sure. I have plenty of mass storage, and I can add SSDs if need be. Really any creative ideas for giving her a second life would be grand. Thanks!

Should I switch from Outlook to Gmail? I'm holding back, since I have all of my contacts on Outlook, and I got Microsoft Office Online (a cut down version of Office with better compatibility) and you know, it's not Gmail, so less spam and it's being overlooked by Microsoft ,good for Windows 10. On the other hand, Gmail is a better email service in my opinion, and is integrated with Google Docs, which are pretty damn good, for my usage. What do you think? What do you use personally?

A client asked me to help put images in emails. What do you tell someone when asked for this? My standard advice is don't. Not because it doesn't work but, if I advise someone to do this then they 'help' other people change their email client settings to see images in incoming email, they're inviting spam. Not upon themself but upon their friends and family and clients. Edit: So how do images work in email these days? I can attach and I can link HTML-style but is that still the whole story? Is spam still the prob it was and for the same reasons? endEdit I give a lot of computer advice one way or another and this issue of images in email is making me look like an idiot when It's clearly so easy to throw an image in an email...! I'm aware of a few things that a) help against spam but B) make it very difficult to explain the situation... Control your own email servers & load only from internal or trusted sources I think MS and gmail email servers actually load images before time then reserve them (I'd shit a brick if I was a spammer and suddenly MS&G started routinely loading several MILLION of my bait-images at a time every twenty seconds!!!) I'm sure Apple has clever ways to help too - the client who asked me for this help is an Apple (ab)user so everything just works... Making it more stupid for me to say don't do it Don't get me wrong - I don't mind looking like an idiot... If only my clients would rebook me even when I do so!!

Hi, I'm building a office computer for my new assistant, so i got 3 x AOC U2868PQU(4K displays). Since this is not a gaming setup, i don't see the need to go out and buy 2-3 Titan X's... So what small card can do the job og desktop use, email, browsering and maybe some photoshop(again no big graphic usage). When i made my graphic designers PC i gave her 3 x SyncMaster P2450 with a GTX Titan SC, when i look back at it, it was a bit overkill. I have no budget on this since, it's no power build.

Sorry if this is in wrong topic but I couldn't post in the forum discussion page for some reason well i use a steam logon to use this website and I am afraid of my steam account being hacked (I own like 300 bucks worth of csgo knives) Is there a need for me to reset my password? I use email confirm and email logon so to trade anything from my account the hacker would need to also have my email and they are different passwords. Do I need to change my email or steam password? D: Thanks for replying

I have been looking for a client to replace the default client in os x for sometime and have been struggling to find good ones, so here is what I'm looking for: 1- Support for os x (if it wasn't obvious) 2- Easy and simple interface 3- Pulls new emails quickly enough (the thing that pisses me off with the default client) 4- Well supported and updated (HiDPI support and what not)

Recently, I started putting events in the Apple calendar app on my iPhone. Not too long after, I started receiving emails in my gmail from Google about upcoming events in my calendar. Strange. Anyone else experienced this? I don't really have a problem with Google knowing what I'm doing throughout my day (it's a reality that must be accepted), I'm just tired of all of the spam that I get in my email telling me about things that I already know. Is there an option that I can turn off, or is this just Google moving further towards the omniscient being that they look to become?

Hey everyone. For one of my college assignments, i have to save an Excel sheet on Windows in a format that is compatible with Mac OS.X (I assume Apples: Numbers program since Excel for Mac would still open Excel documents made on windows, again, that's an assumption). What format does this program use or will it accept the standard excel format? Sounds stupid, I know, but I need to get this right since it is a Pass grade which I need or its a fail for me. Thanks for your help.

Hey Guys! So I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to online domains and stuff so I need your help. Some friends of mine and I are staring a small business and want to website and and business E-mail adresses. So I looked for sites, where I could buy a domain for the E-mail adresses so that we could have our company name after the @. But the only things I found were domains for websites (www.______.com). So my question is, if the part between the www and the top level domain is the same as the part after the @. If yes, where do I make the E-mail account with my newly bought domain? Thanks in advance -Simon

Hi guys, I'm back temporarily because I know little to nothing about email servers, and need help with what the title describes. This is in Networking because I feel that's the best sub-forum for what I want to do. Basically, I wish to have a local email server that pulls all emails from a remote email server to host them, and sends any emails it gets to the remote server to be sent from there to wherever their destination is. This is how an email would be sent: Client (Thunderbird) -> Local Email Server -> Remote Email Server -> Destination This is how they would be received: Origination -> Remote Email Server -> Local Email Server -> Client And I would like to set it up to where the emails didn't stay on the remote email server for very long. i.e. Any emails sent to it would only stay long enough to get to their destination and any received emails would be pulled to the local server then deleted from the remote server. However, I know little about email servers & the protocols they use, so I figured I'd ask here in case someone knows what I need to do to make this happen. The local server uses Mail Enable which has a Smart Hosting feature that passes all emails sent along to another server to be relayed to their destination. This solves the Outbound part of it, I believe (I could be wrong). However, I have no idea how to keep the emails moving from the remote server (which is on a Linux virtual server, not sure what software it uses, but it has a CPanel web interface) to the local server. Mail Enable has a migration tool, but it's supposed to be used once and having it running 24/7 isn't viable. I would just google it, but I can't come up with the right combination of terms to find results relevant to what I want. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Vitalius.

Global Mail gmail 5.0 , Google's new version of its Gmail mobile app, available for download now on Android, on which you don't need a gmail account to use it lets you manage accounts from alternative email providers like Yahoo, AOL and Microsoft Outlook. You can also use it with your work email address. Screen cap of Gmail app supporting MSoutlook & Yahoo mail... Switching between Gmail and non-Gmail accounts will work much the same way as navigating between different Google accounts within the current app interesting move for Google which until now has focused on users of its own email platform. But opening up the Gmail app to other types of email accounts could potentially draw thousands of new Android users who don't use Gmail for either work or personal accounts to the app. However, these accounts will not use push notifications, and you'll be asked to set a sync interval What's New?.. Insert Google Drive files directly into messages Improved auto-complete. Start typing in the To, Cc or Bcc field and you'll now get better suggestions, faster. Improved formatting support when restoring saved drafts Ongoing bug fixes and reliability improvements Manage multiple accounts View and save attachments Set up label notifications The new Gmail app is distinct from another recent email innovation from Google, which it's calling Inbox. Inbox, released last month, makes your email into a kind of to-do list. It lets you do things like set reminders, bundle similar messages together in groups, call out the key information from important messages and hit "snooze" on messages you'd prefer to deal with later. If you add multiple accounts, you can switch between them by opening the left-hand slide-out menu and swiping across your profile banner. You can also tap the small arrow and choose an account from the list. However, these accounts will not use push notifications, and you'll be asked to set a sync interval. The new app has a cleaned-up look that Google calls "material design," which gives the illusion of varying depths for images on the screen. Material design is also a prominent aspect of the forthcoming update to Google's mobile operating system, Android Lollipop. Also this version of the app has super clean compose screen & round avatars.. If you want to add Exchange support to your Gmail client, you'll need to download an additional APK. If you installed Gmail 5.0 first, you may need to force stop your Gmail app in order for it to recognize the Exchange capabilities. Video Demo: Bonus: Pretty good update imo, Post your thoughts/comments & Rants down belooooowww... Hey guys, another boring office related post. I have my own business and with it I have a set of clients I 'look after' and I want to be able to send them bulk emails so that they know they're being 'looked after'. Anyway that's going into the concept of the business which isn't important, but I don't want any of these bulk emails to end up in the clients spam folders, and I don't know how I can have a list of contacts, write an email and just tick them all and send straight away without having to type their email address in all the time, I use Outlook but I guess this could be done from any email webpage or software. Kinda boring and I wish it was more about pcs but I need help on this one. thanks guys.

Not the 'minority report' kind of precrime that you were expecting.. Basically a variant of risk prediction technology Nevertheless this is an interesting story , The artificial intelligence (most probably like the heuristic analysis like AV's use) was developed to scan employees emails to search for pattern on whether the employee is potentially going to to giveaway/sell classified business details of the company, The artificial intelligence system developed by UBIC’s system dubbed Virtual Data Scientist, can sift through messages and identify senders whose writing suggests they are in financial straits or disgruntled about how their employer treats them. The system is built on established human expertise. The Virtual Data Scientist trains itself by studying and emulating the techniques of professional auditors. It can then bring those techniques to bear by scanning massive volumes of email. UBIC says it’s more efficient than traditional manual keyword searches and that even subtle indications of fraud can be detected. The approach links machine learning with analysis of big data and behavioral sciences such as psychology and criminology. The emerging field is known as "behavior informatics" and it has its own IEEE task force and other research groups. UBIC’s system currently works in Japanese only, but support for English and other languages is being added http://www.pcworld.com/article/2691132/artificial-intelligence-system-can-predict-data-theft-by-scanning-email.html Post your thoughts & rants down below, is it a fair system to snoop on employee email regardless of the risk it carries? post your comments below

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knew a way that I could set up email forwarding form my shitty AOL account from way too long ago to my work (outlook.com) address. I have been told that AOL has removed the forwarding feature, so I was wondering if there were any other (probably 3rd-party) solutions to this. Thanks!
