Anybody be able to help with this? Just finished my new build and enabled xmp in BIOS. Task menager reports 3200mhz as it should be, but hardware info and cpu-z show 1600mhz. For futher information, I have 4 sticks of corsair vengence rbg pro with (once again) xmp enabled.

Help!! Pc won't boot after the boot drive partition was converted from mbr to gpt to enable tpm. After the conversion and reboot, the dbug led is jumping back and forth from dram to gpu to cpu but sometimes is only on dram, and the pc wont give any image. Tried to reset the cmos, but it didn't work. The mobo has two bios chips, but there is no way to switch between them.

Hi everyone, Long time LTT follower but new to the forums. I have the following config: Ryzen TR 3960X ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha 128 GB DDR 4 4000 ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3090 OC GAMING 24 G EVGA 1300W My issue is when the computer is running the ram works fine. I have tested it multiple times but when I cold boot the computer after a long night it does not boot. I have to let it stay on a couple of minutes and reboot it until bios goes in safe mode and then it boots normally. Any tips on how fixing this cold boot issue ? I can't seem to find a DRAM Training option in the bios... either that or i'm not looking for the proper name. I'm using DOCP but since i'm using PCIE 4.0 I down clock it at 3600 or 3533 to make sure I don't have any issues with it. If I run the ram at stock JEDEC speed 2400 I don't have any issues. Thanks,

I dropped my CPU, and now my dram light is on. Need Help!
Seamus X posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I delided my cpu 9700k and used liquid metal in replacement. I tried to repaste my cpu yesterday, and accidently dropped it. The lid was dropped open. I reapplied the liquid metal, and put the cpu back in, but my computer is acting weriedly. It turns on and off for a few cycles, and then start to turns on, but there is no video output. Then the dram light is on. But I am sure that the ram is fine, as I was using them yesterday. I now ordered a 9900k as replacement for cheap. But I am wondering is my motherboard having issues? Should I just replace the motherboard and cpu altogether? Is it possible that the dram light is on becasue my cpu's memory controller is not working, and the motherbaord is fine?- 2 replies

Earlier this year Samsung introduced its D1z DRAM for mass production. Quote :"Samsung Electronics has developed its D1z 8GB DDR4, D1z 12GB LPDDR5, and 16GB LPDDR5 DRAM devices as well with higher performance. We found both of the latter two devices (the D1z 12GB and D1z 16GB LPDDR5 chips) in the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G series; S21 5G, S21+ 5G and S21 Ultra 5G just released in January 2021."[1] These devices are based -almost entirely- on EUV. EUV is known to have some problems, especially when it comes to yield and chip throughput ,and especially at Samsung foundries. However, Micron chose to avoid EUV for their new DRAM (for whatever reason, which very likely relates to EUV machines availability ). Micron announced its first 1-Alpha DRAM for mass production, which is marketed to offers: "a 40% improvement in bit density and a 15% drop in power consumption compared to 1Z" [2] Thoughts: This approach is very interesting, as it could lead to "EUV free" process flow that ultimately helps with the global IC shortage. Although the crucial and most important details about the 1a process are not published yet. Hi guys, today I happily received my new PC. Specs: Case:MSI MAG VAMPIRIC 011C Ryzen Ed. PSU:Aerocool AERO WHITE 700 Watt (80+) Mainboard:MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI, AMD B550 Prozessor:AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6x 4.6GHz RAM:16GB DDR4-RAM PC-3200 (2x 8GB) Graphics card:Nvidia GeForce RTX3070 8GB, beliebiger Hersteller M.2 / Optane:NVME M.2 SSD 1TB Kingston A2000 Festplatte Wireless LAN:Intel Wireless-AC 3168, Bluetooth 4.2 Soundcard:7.1 AUDIO BOOST + Soundblaster Cinema Processor-Cooler:Xilence M704 (für AMD) It also has win 10 pre installed. It is a prebuilt. The problem here is that when I turned it on everything goes well, leds RGB lights of the components and the fans are running. So far so good but one thing I've noticed was that a light was shining in white. It's the dram light on the Mainboard. When it boots up then the CPU just blinks one time and then switches to the dram. I plugged my monitor in and it has no signal. It's connected via HDMI. The next problem is that when I want to plug my mouse and keyboard in the don't seem to get power. Normally they glow cause of LEDs but nothing on this PC. I've tried every USB port on this PC bot not one would work. I really want try and get the problem myself because otherwise I have to send it back because on warranty. But that is time consuming but in the end when nothing should help then I have no other way. I looked these problems up so far and I switched the ram sticks but nothing worked. Maybe u guys can help me out. If you need pictures of the PC feel free to ask but for me it looks completely fine.

Okay, so, regardless of what SSD youre picking (m.2, SATA etc.) it seems that you should always go for one with a DRAM catche. but why? what is it, why do I need it and how can i tell which SSDs have it?

Hi Guys, I just build my new system. Specs: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X; MSI MPG B550 Gaming Carbon WIFI, G-Skill Trident Z RGB 32 GB 3600 (4x8GB), MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X 6G (from old system), NZXT Kraken X63, Samsung NVMe SSD 980 Pro 1TB, Corsair RM850, Bequiet Pure Base 500 DX. I have had the problem with my RAM XMP Profiles not working, so I set the Ram Frequenzy to 3200 Mhz and the system is working without any problems. However the DRAM LED on the Motherboard still is constantly on and i didnt see any warning or something while checking the bios. Is there anything for me to worry about and how can i fix it? Thank you very much, Tob1d

Need help with itx build. Recently transferred my PC from a mid tower to itx build. Only thing that was changed from my previous build was my motherboard from an MSI B550 Tomahawk to ASUS B550i-strix and the case. I am having a very interesting issue. When enabling DOCP to get my Geil ram to run at 3600 mghz everything seems to be fine and the system runs ok for the rest of the night. Then the next day when I try to boot I get a black screen, pc lights up keyboard and mouse light up, however no signal to monitor. The DRAM error light on the mobo lights up as well. In order to fix the problem I clear the cmos. This problem has repeated itself many times and I have not been able to replicate it aside from trying to turn my pc on the next day. I tried turning off the pc unplugging the psu and turning it back on, it boots perfectly fine. Only when I leave it overnight does this problem come up. I tried lowering the RAM speed to 3200 mghz and the problem came up again. The only time it has not come up is when I run the ram at default speeds 2133 mghz. I have also tried updating the BIOS to the latest version and it did not fix the problem. I do not believe it is faulty ram since the ram worked fine in my previous build. This problem has been very difficult to figure out the solution to as I do not know how to replicate the problem. Any help is appreciated. Also not sure if this is related at all. But when we first assembled it and tried to get it to post, I plugged my ps4 controller into the bios flashback usb port and the system did not post and we had to clear the cmos. Doubt this is related at all but wanted to throw it in there. Not sure what is causing this problem. (Mobo, RAM, SSD, PSU, CASE?) I just finishen a new build but when I turneringen it on for the first time the yellow dram qled lights up. I've tried with 1-2-3-4 ram sticks tried different placements tried only I primary slots a2/b2 but I can't seem to get it running. I've also tried to clear the CMOS memory by shorting pin 1&2 on the CLRTC. nothing I do gets me to the bios, I have not video output at all. Do anyone have any ideas or advise I would appreciat it. Specs: Motherboard = ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING CPU = AMD 5800X RAM = KINGSTON HYPERX 32GB 3200MHZ DDR4 I've attached a picture of the qled indicator

Budget (including currency): Country: Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Does anyone have a 64Gb Dram manufacturer, model, layout recommendation for: Gigabyte Aorus X399 board https://www.newegg.ca/gigabyte-x399-aorus-pro/p/N82E16813145109 It has 8 slots and is quad channel. Processor is: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X (YD295XA8AFWOF) Processor specs: https://pangoly.com/en/review/amd-ryzen-threadripper-2950x Also how would you recommend the layout with the slots available. i.e. 2 x 16 Gb in slots 1,2 / 2 x 16 Gb in slots 5,6 etc. Im fairly new to building, but really enjoy learning all about it. however advice from experienced builders I have found to be the best route. Different opinions often uncover things that I may not have considered. Thanks all for any insight ~Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt

(my first build) I turn on my pc for gaming then game then it automatically shuts down after about an hour(I purposely set it that way so that I don't play overtime), Then Sometimes I want to play more so I turn it back on but it doesn't turn on, it loops through cpu and Dram(Lights on my mother board keeps switching to cpu then Dram normally it's supposed to go CPU-Dram-VGA-Boot). I tested it out if i just shut down regularly to see if the force timer shut down was the problem but when I turn on my pc and turn it off right away it turns on fine after, when I launch a game and play for a bit then shut it off it doesn't turn on again. I always have to wait at least 5 or 10 min. Looking for the most fitting RAM for my new system. So far it will be an ASUS Crossair VIII Dark Hero with a Ryzen 5950X. I was aiming for 4x8GB 3600MHz DIMMs. Not sure about timings and what brand/model has dual channel though. PC is mostly for gaming, as you guys probably realised already, some tasks I do benefit from a higher thread count (+ I got super lucky with a deal and spend only a little more than for the planned 5800X) Tl;dr: what timings/speed (3600MHz?) you guys think works best with an ASUS Crossair VIII Dark Hero and a 5950X?

I upgraded to a ryzen 5 5600x and switched to msi b550m mobo. Everything worked perfectly, had no problems for the first day. I remembered I didn’t enable xmp in the bios so I open it up. This was my first time using the msi bios and ignorantly, I selected the second profile preset because I saw it said the dram speed was set to 3200. Save. Starts up again. Now when I boot it flashes the cpu light, the cpu light turns off, then the dram light turns on, than the vga light turns on, the vga light turns off, than the boot light turns on. Both the dram light and boot light stay on until I turn the pc off, but my monitor stays black. Lights turn on and fans spin. I have reseated and removed the gpu. Used onboard graphics with hdmi. Tried using 1 stick of ram (attempted to boot in every slot). I also reset a cmos for the first time. I grounded myself, removed it it for hour and put it back in but same issue. Also tried using the tip of a screw driver to short the two pins near the cmos found by using the manual. I am pretty sure it is just the bios profile I have selected that is giving me my issue. But I dont know how to reset to default. Why doesn’t it read my ram anymore? Thanks, specific board is b550m pro-vdh wifi, ram is corsair vengeance pro 2x8 3200

Hi Guys, I'm building a system and it's pretty low profile, as it's going into a rack with audio gear. To get the be quiet cooler on there, I had to remove the heatspreader for the RAM. It wasnt a hard task, as it was just double sided thermal tape... strong tape... but not a glue or anything. I just slowly peeled it off and it seemed to come away without any fuss. Unfortunately, I think I must have broken something, although I can't see what exactly. All the SMDs look absolutely fine. One of the sticks will not boot with the system at all. I have tried the RAM In another PC, and it also doesn't work there. The new PC works fine with the RAM from the existing machine, and also with just one of the sticks plugged in. it definitely worked before I took the heatspreader off (was in a working PC). I have given it a clean as best as I can with 99% alcohol and looked at everything with a little cheap microscope, and can't see anything... but no booting and the DRAM warning LED Is lit on the motherboard.. so it's not looking good. It's single sided CL14 3200 B-Die... so a bit gutted. Before I get my wallet out, is there any ideas or testing anyone can recommend?

iam going to but wd sn750 or sn550 the prices are 76 dollars and 93 dollars i dont move around huge files but longevity is important for me. ASking for mainly gaming is it worth the extra price.

So Ive just changed my cpu, psu, and motherboard because some of my components were broken from my old pc. After putting them all on again my pc booted and I managed to use it for an hour, after which it suddenly turns off by itself. After trying turning it on again it failed to boot, giving a dram indicator light for a couple of seconds then to a cpu indicator light. Need a bit of advice on this one. Now I've read a lot about DRAM-less SSD's being a bit poor on speed and life, but Amazon had a sale on some Kingston A400 Drives, and i couldn't resist. But the use case for the SSD is a secondary drive for data like work documents, not games, or anything large or write/read intensive... etc. very low strain. DRAM ssds were triple the price, hence why I went for one. What's people's experience with them for this kind of workload?

I have a GIGABYTE B450 AORUS M (AMD Ryzen AM4/Micro ATX/M.2 Thermal Guard/HDMI/DVI/USB 3.1 Gen 2/DDR4/Motherboard) & on startup my motherboard has 4 red lights on startup on VGA/CPU/BOOT/DRAM. Often staying on VGA for longer than the others. I am not sure if this is normal or not. I also cannot play most games where my gpu temp goes past 65. I recently RMA my motherboard because of an issue I was having (it was a gigabyte aurous x570 elite) I got a new motherboard (gigabyte aurous b550 pro) and with this motherboard came its own problem. I plugged everything in and everything turns on, AIO, fans, etc. except the troubleshooting leds on my motherboard indicated that my DRAM memory was not working, with this problem I get no display to my monitors. I have tried: 1 stick of ram in every dimm slot two sticks of ram in every other dimm slot I have even tried four ram sticks at once nothing is working, please any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance, my computer has not worked since christmas following a snowball of problems specs: 2080ti founders edition gigabyte b550 pro MOBO 16gb (2x 8gb) ddr4 ram Ryzen 7 2700x GIGABYTE p850gm power supply (850W 80+ gold) cpu is cooled By duel fan corsair AIO 6 fans including the 2 cpu cooler fan 2 monitors, one is DVI, the other is HDMI (no response from both)
