Hey all, I've currently hit a bit of a roadblock attempting to upgrade a Dell Vostro 270s. As of current it has a 3rd generation i3 installed, but I'd ideally prefer to upgrade to a 3rd gen i7 if possible. Regularly supported, the Dell website says that it supports up to 3rd gen i5s. I've seen a few articles about people being able to update the bios to A11 or something newer and being able to fully support i7s. It's a B75 Express chipset, so no reason it shouldn't support it, I just would like to know for sure before hitting the purchase button. I'll have to update the bios etc., assuming it'll work, but the A11 bios support i7s on other boards. Looking at the current config, with a BIOS update, I can't think of any reason in which upgrading to the i7 3770 wouldn't work. Has anybody has success with this? Any recommendations? I'm hoping this should work, could make for a very cheap gaming PC once upgraded. I got the system for free with 8gb of ram, and have an RX 580 on hand. As long as I can upgrade to the 3770, should be a great rig. This is the current config: Intel Core i3 (3rd Gen) 3220 / 3.3 GHz Number of Cores Dual-Core Chipset Type Intel B75 Express Processor Main Features Hyper-Threading Technology, Intel Smart Cache Processor Socket LGA1155 Socket

I have a Dell Latitude E6430 laptop that uses a Dell Wireless 1540 (DW1540), but it is somewhat limited and want to upgrade it to something that has 2.4GHz/5Ghz band and bluetooth... Like the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 (6235ANNGW) which I found at an afordable price. They both seem to be Half-size Mini PCI-E... I would like to know your advice on whether I could have any issues?

Dell 5378, with i5-7200u. Does this laptop fully switch over to AC power when sufficiently charged via Dell Manager Lite I set it to 90%, because my last laptop, circa i5 2nd gen, would trickle charge between 99-100 and after 1-1.5 years of mostly plugged in the battery life, 100-0, was about halved. I know engineers have better designed laptop circuitry, but can't find a definitive answer of if all the power will come from the AC and battery is saved. (probably won't make a huge difference in the long-run, just mostly curious)

Got this pc free as parts and I think the only thing wrong with it is the psu. However, since it isnt the mini tower, the psu is smaller and more rectangular. Id like to put one closer to 300w in it. Anyways, My question is, is there an after market solution or will I have to buy a used one and hope it works? Or will a new psu even help? (see pictures below for reference) its an optiplex 790 with the i5 2400

Hi everyone I want to upgrade my display as I have a 1080p 60hz monitor. these are the three options I have: Asus VG248QE: https://www.amazon.com/VG248QE-1920x1080-144Hz-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B00B2HH7G0 Dell S2419HGF: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Gaming-Monitor-response-FreeSync/dp/B07MB7WT39 LG 24GM79G: https://www.amazon.com/LG-24GM79G-B-24-Inch-Monitor-Reduction/dp/B06XFGTGC4 I am on a tight budget as these are the only 3 monitors I can choose Thanks!

A little while ago I found a Dell poweredge r710 literately on the side of the road and I was wondering what it was designed for, how it works, and what I could use it for. I did manage to, through randomly messing with the BIOS, get it to run Windows 10 and got it hosting a Minecraft server but both the Minecraft server and the r710 ran like crap so I suspect I have the r710 configured poorly.

I am planning a build for my girlfriend, I am planning to get a Dell OptiPlex (390 DT Intel Core i5-2600 3.4GHz, 8GB DDR3, 500GB HDD) and add a GTX 750ti card to it, it will mostly be used for photoshop and Netflix and light gaming such as CSGO. I have noticed that the GTX 750ti needs a 6pin connector but the PSU (600w) I prepurchased doesn't have a 6pin but it does have 2 spare Molex cables, Would it be safe for me to buy a dual Molex to single 6pin to power the 750ti. If it is safe can someone direct me towards a good safe, dual Molex to 6pin as she is very limited on tech knowledge and I won't be there all the time to fix stuff if it goes wrong. Thanks (Edit: After some response off other forums i have been informed that there are 750ti models that do not require 6 pin, So a point in the right direction with that would also be apricated)

I have a an old Dell XPS 15 L502X (10 years old) and I want upgrade the ram and ssd but I don't know how to open it up. I know I should start at the bottom with the screws but even after unscrewing them I still couldn't open the back. Anyone have any solutions? ideas? On a another note What ssd should I get? I'm looking for something midrange at least RM400-500 (100-125usd) And what about ram I think either 16 or 32 GB of ram should be enough. Again, I'm looking for something midrange also 100-150usd Please do advise me on how I should do this as I'm such a klutz.

Alienware m17xR3, Worked fine on windows 10 without issue, no blue screens...flawless for over 2 years. I did a repaste and cleaning, pressing the power button after it was unplugged to ensure no electrical charge was left(as instructed to by an Alienware tech). After all was done I start it back up to hours of blue screens before it would ever hit desktop. It remained that way for over a month taking hours going through blue screens mainly with a driver state power failure before it would start to desk top each day. Can anyone explain why this happened and it will no longer allow me to install windows 10? Im told my system does not support it but I don't believe this because everyone I know that has a similar model and ALL being sold on sites like ebay are running Win10. Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated! As right now Im stuck on a crappy running version of 7 and even if I wanted to sell it I wouldn't get far with it stuck on the current OS its on.

Listed for $280 on my local craigslist, final price would probably be like $150 after I sold my current monitor. - G-sync - 1440p - 144hz/1ms - 27" I'd be upgrading from my current ASUS VG248QE which is 144hz/1ms, 1080p. I'm actually happy with my current monitor, but at this price point would it be worth it to upgrade? Is the upgrade from 1080p to 1440p that noticeable? I'm mostly interested in the G-sync. I'm fairly confident my system can drive it to at least 100fps.

Hey guys, I am having a hard time deciding between the Asus - ROG G531GT (9750H + 1650) and the Dell G5 (8750H + 1050ti). They both seem good on paper, but the Dell has a metal chassis, and the Strix has a plastic one. I also don't really know about the thermals for the Strix. The Dell has a 56Whr battery, but the size isn't mentioned for the Strix (just says 4hr). The dell has a Type-C thunderbolt port, but the Strix has 3 USB-A 3.1 ports. Looking into all the details, they are both very good. The Strix costs a bit more but has about 10% more performance on paper. The Dell has a good reputation since it has been out for a while, but the Strix is fairly new and has no professional reviews. Can someone who has already bought this give me some advice about the thermals, performance, build, screen, i/o and so on? Thanks! P.S Linus if you see this, please review this!

Hey so I recently "fixed" my laptop after crushing the screen slightly and not eh accelerometer or whatever controls the rotation function in windows is all sorts of messed up. As far as I can see there is no option in the bios to disable it. So, I wanted to know if it is possible to disable it in windows because the keyboard keeps turning off and the screen rotates because it thinks it is in tablet/folded mode when it’s not. Alternatively, is it possible for me to just remove the module completely from the machine? Thanks in advance for you’re input.

Hello all, Haven't visited the forum in a while, so I'll go straight to the point. I own an old but trusty Dell Optiplex 9020 mini tower, with the specs: I5 4570 8GB DDR3 RAM 300W OEM Power supply (with 8 pin connector to Motherboard instead of usual 24 pin) Nvidia GTX 750ti 240 GB SSD + 600 GB HDD 2 x 24'' Dell monitors (60Hz) - These will not change as my peripherals are all supplied by my employer. I usually play World of Warcraft as main game, but also a lot of Rocket League, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, F1 2016. I had noticed my rig could not handle witcher 3 very well but on medium to low settings it was playable. However, recently after buying F1 2018, I noticed I could not play smoothly at all at 1080p. I had to lower to 900p to have a decent frame rate. I believe I will continue gaming forever but always 1-2 hours per day maximum, so I am not planning for a top spec machine. I also have family investments coming so need to spend as little as possible, but also keep in mind it should last me a decent amount of time. So, the question now is Buy a new tower, for around 640 USD Case - Corsair Carbide 200R - 63 USD Power Supply - EVGA 600 BR 600W Bronze CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 1500X w/ cooler MoBo - ASUS B450 RAM - 8GB DDR4 Graphics card - Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB Note: I already own the SSD + HDD I will need. Upgrade my existing rig with the following parts for a total of 375 USD: COOLER MASTER MWE 550W 80+ BRONZE (65 USD) Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB (300 USD) 24 pin to 8 pin adapter for the Power supply Motherboard connector. (10 USD) Upgrade my existing rig with minimal specs for 255 USD: COOLER MASTER MWE 550W 80+ BRONZE (65 USD) Nvidia GTX 1050 ti (180 USD) (requires only 75W from the PCI board) 24 pin to 8 pin adapter for the Power supply Motherboard connector. (10 USD) If any of the above lasts me at least 2 years I am absolutely fine. If less then I might be more inclined for a new build. Thoughts? Regards

I recently got an old Dell XPS 8300 motherboard to make a budget gaming pc. I also had lying around an R9 270. I tried to install the graphics card into the system. but when I did and tried to power it on. there was just a black screen not even getting the bios screen. I have done the classic tests, which was reseating all the components and check if the system will post without the graphics card (using integrated graphics). which it does post on the Igpu. so tried to see if the graphics card was dead by testing it in a different system, which it wasn't, cause it posted to bios. I used the same PSU to see if it was a power problem but it worked fine. at this point I'm kinda scratching my head. is there anything I missed. if anyone can help that would be amazing. thanks ps. other graphics cards work on the motherboard just not the R9 270 The specs of the pc are i5 2500 2GB Ram (waiting to get more) 500w PSU asus R9 270 a stock Intel heat sink

I have a Dell optiplex 3020 sff and since I need space to more upgrades I wanted to switch cases but than I heard that Dell has sensors on it that does stuff to the motherboard when you switch cases. So I don't know I should just buy a new motherboard or buy a Dell case and see if it works or if it is just a hoax.

Hello all, I'm new to this forum and I hope I chose the right segment for this thread. Which wireless card would you recommend for installing into the Dell XPS 9570 per 2019? Some other forum posts I read on google (i.e. on reddit) recommended the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 9260 which I could order on Amazon for about EUR 30. My question is whether this is the best WiFi card for this laptop per 2019 or if you guys could recommend anything else. I really want to switch out the Killer 1535 as it is so frustrating with the constant bugs. I'm in touch with Dell Support regarding this issue for over two weeks now, reinstalling drivers, BIOS updates etc. did not fix my constant connection issues or slow network. In example, last night while testing over speedtest.net I got a Up/Down Speed of about 9.83/0.9 Mbps with a ping of 75 on my 5G UPC router (advertised with 100Mbps Download and 10Mbps Upload). On my phone, connected to the same network, running speedtest.net I got a ping of about 11 and 75.2/8.7 Mbps speeds. I simply cannot understand how a WiFi card in a phone can be better than in a EUR 3000 laptop. But apparently I'm not the only user with this issue. Many posts and videos resulted in simply switching out the card, as all users got frustrated with Dell Support not being able to fix the issue themselves. Hope you guys can recommend a good card, as my troubleshooting time and energy are wasted in my opinion. (I tried anything from Power Options to switching Advanced Settings in the Device Manager, reinstalling Killer drivers and software etc., none of this has ever worked for me and since the problem does not seem to be my router or ISP, because all my other devices in my home have excellent speeds [even a 5 year old Asus Laptop], it must be the card itself, which by the way was just replaced a couple of days ago by a Dell Technician [but he just replaced the old 1535 card with a new 1535 card...]) Thanks a lot in advance. If you need me to provide more details to certain aspects, please let me know. Kind regards, Richard

Hi, So my Dell XPS13 has just gone kaput! Specced out with an i7 8550u, 16GB RAM, FHD and 256 SSD. It is now out of warranty and Dell have quoted me ~£560 for a replacement motherboard. Now, they had told me they can repair it for £160, which obviously I opted for as a 'no-brainer', but to my surprise I found that they had just replaced the mother board with a lower speced i7 7500u, 8GB RAM. I did complain obviously, and now I have 2 options; get the board replace for ~£560 for the same spec or keep the lower spec.....I've already noticed the lower speed when using it for an hour or so... due to an error I am hoping they replace the board for the price I paid for the 'repair' but i know that's wishful thinking!.... any suggestions? anyone had any similar issues with Dell....or the XPS 13?

I recently purchased a DELL XPS 15 7590 with the OLED 4K panel (16GB ram, 9750h CPU, GTX 1650) With it's premium branding and price to match I was hoping for excellent results from the OLED panel, but while looking at the dark grey interface of Adobe Premiere Pro while loading a project I noticed an un-eveness to the screen brightness. To test Laptop1, I set the desktop background to a solid color of very dark grey and sure enough the screen was not even. I contacted Dell and they agreed to replace the laptop. I made it clear that this was a very subtle issue and they should probably check the replacement laptop with a human before shipping and I got vague confirmation that this might happen. Laptop2 arrived and frustratingly it also had an issue of uneven brightness (although admittedly no as obvious as the previous model). After nearly an hour on the phone, Dell finally agreed to accept Laptop2 back for a full refund. So... Am I being too fussy? I know screens can vary, and I would have happily accepted this quality years ago or on cheaper machines today, However with the XPS line, I can't help but feel when paying for a premium laptop, and especially when paying a considerable premium for an OLED screen upgrade, that there really should be far fewer compromises when it comes to quality on a laptop with a list price of over $2000. What do you guys think?

Dear all Today when i was searching for good performance and budget laptops, i came around with a dell inspiron 7591 with CORE I9 9880h . And it only cost about $1400 US DOLLARS (1,04,000 inr). That is ridiculus because most i9 laptop start at US $2499 dollars. If anyone interested in this laptop. You could buy or see it from dell official website. Also it is not available in US https://www.dell.com/en-in/shop/laptops-2-in-1-pcs/new-inspiron-15-7000-laptop/spd/inspiron-15-7591-laptop
