Hey guys, Wanted to get your opinion on curved ultrawide monitors. I am planning on getting one very soon and tossing up between the AOC U3477PQU or the Dell U3415W. The AOC is $895 AUD and the Dell is just under $1200 AUD. They're both the same resolution and both IPS. Only major difference is the curve on the Dell. Is it worth the premium for the curved? Thanks

Hello best tech community I am having hard time choosing a monitor\s for video editing/gaming (I have an apple retina display now and looking for something close to it or maybe better) -should I go with 4k or an ultra wide/curved?, or will the 4k content will not be played smoothly in a wide monitor like 3440x1440 ? -or should I go with a one expensive monitor 4k like the PB279Q IPS monitor?http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00YWCYKQM -or 2 cheap monitors like these? http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=113&cp_id=11307&cs_id=1130703&p_id=13809&seq=1&format=2 by the way I can't find if those are 10bit or IPS monitors?, are they flicker free? can some one verify? I do a lot of video editing and gaming( I really do care about colors and I hate light leaks ) (My maximum budget for a monitor/s is $750 and I can push it to $800) if you have any suggestions please feel free to tell me I only have one GTX980ti by the way I AM SORRY IF YOU GOT CONFUSED AFTER ALL THESE QUESTIONS, BECAUSE I AM TOO Pointing anything to me will help by this point looking forward to hear from you things I can't give up: -IPS -15ms response time or less -flicker free

Click bait alert   Obviously it isn't going to work like a phone, that's a given, but I've modelled a 1:1 replica of the S6 Edge+ and linked the files in the video description, free to all to do with as you please. Included the original Inventor model, x2 STL files with screen and without screen and a STEP file. I haven't picked a suitable 3D printer yet so I haven't tested this, open to suggestions/alterations from anyone who can print it. If you do decide to head over and watch the video, please do excuse and feel free to skip the introduction, the explanation intro is for the benefit of existing subscribers.

Hi all, I am a long time builder of all things pc based but this is my first foray into 3 screen setup and eyefinity in particular. I have it all setup, my 3 cards are all the same (which I know isn't necessary) all are plugged into the same card and can be set into an eyefinity group. The problem that I am having is that I wanted my screens to "curve" around me but my games require them to be straight. Is there any way to change this? I am presently running on a Sapphire 7950 3gb and am awaiting the arrival of my 2nd card of the same. Many thanks for looking and hopefully being the one who has the answer that I am looking for. Hey, so really just looking for opinions from anyone who owns a curved monitor or has used one before. Here are my options, I've been saving up to get a fresh new 3440x1440 IPS monitor and from what I have found this one is the best for its price: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-106-LG&groupid=17&catid=2907 Now, I was just watching the new UnboxTherapy video that came out today on another LG monitor, it's practically the same as the one above, just a hight adjustable stand (which would be nice) and also the display is curved: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-125-LG However the price of this monitor is £200 more than the non curved basic stand one. So because I don't plan on buying another monitor for a long while, would anyone who has used a curved monitor before actually recommend buying it for the extra £200 when all the other specs are essentially the same. (For normal productivity and gaming.) (Right now I'm leaning much more towards the normal one without the curve, but I'm thinking if curved adds such a price premium there must be something I'm missing?) Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, Buying a new gaming rig in a month or so and wanted to get some thoughts about which way to go re: displays. It's not fully locked down yet, but I do know that the video cards will be MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming cards (x2 --> SLI) and prob an i7 4790K and 16GB RAM, SSD boot drive, etc I play most kinds of games - eg currently, witcher 3, gta online, arma 3 Trying to decide if I should go Opt1) LG 34UC87C 34in Curved UltraWide IPS Monitor (or similar) or Opt2) a large-ish (30"?) 4k display I'm keen to hear from people who own and/or regularly use either of the options I've mentioned, and really keen to hear from anyone who has hands on experience with both (and if you do reply, it'd be great to hear which of these you've hand first hand experience with) Thanks guys, Zeb

I am after a 34" Curved monitor after looking at Linus's review of the Acer XR341CK. My budget is around £700 to accompany my G1 980Ti. Does anyone have any reccommendations on which monitor to buy? Or is the one Linus reviewed pretty much the bees knees? Thanks, Jonathan

Hello, I know there are not many owners of this monitor, but I hope to soon be one of you I'm saving to buy one at the end of the summer here in the UK, its at about £700 at the moment. Anyhow the main question I have here is, what kind of hardware is required to use this monitor comfortably? I know it is most likely quite demanding on the graphic end, no matter what you are using it for. Currently I have an i5-4670k with 16GB of RAM, and an R9 290. At I use my PC for University work, modeling things on Solidworks, some light video editing and of course some gaming too. I really appreciate the advantage this monitor provides to someone who loves to look at high resolution photos with beautiful colours. And I cant resist come monitor real-estate Obviously! Your help is much appreciated guys!

I was thinking of getting a new rather high-end monitor but on Computex i realized companies are pushing curved monitors towards gamers. LG, Acer and Asus are all making gaming oriented curved displays. I know some the benefits and the negatives. + More immersive experience + More screen space for productivity - Cost - Needs more power to render such a big image. But is it worth it? How more immersive is it? Will 21:9 be the new standard? Let me know what you think. And if you have a curved monitor please tell me your experience using it.

Hello lads, I'm looking for a large 30"+ IPS 4K Curved display which supports Freesync for my new build. What would you suggest? Price limit is $10000. I really like the LG 34UC97 34", which is cheap as well, but no one at LG support has any idea if it's going to support Freesync (really disappointed with LG support btw, you don't have such issues with Dell). What would you suggest, I am running a 3 x R9 290X setup, but will switch to 4 x 390X when they pop up. Thanks in advance.

Dear linustechtips forum, I am looking to purchase ASUS' coming 34'' Curved IPS monitor once it comes out and am wondering what GPU I need to game on it. The monitor sports a resolution of 3440 x 1440. https://pcdiy.asus.com/2015/06/asus-34-ultrawide-qhd-ips-219-curved-g-sync-monitor/. Now, since this monitor holds a G-sync panel it would be nice to be able to utilize it, which leaves me with fewer options of course. Would a GTX 970 suffice? I am basically only gaming E-Sports titles. What GPU would you recommend? My system: G3258, asrock z97 itx/ac, 8 GB RAM

Hey babes, later in this month I am planning on buying a curved monitor for gaming, photo editing, web surfing, ect.. and I would like your honest opinion on which monitor I should purchase. The first choice is the LG 34" inch curved monitor with a 60hz refresh rate, 5ms (GtG) and a 3440x1440p resolution. This is on my list because LG is dependable, and also this monitor is lot more known than the BenQ one (and of course it's 4K). The BenQ one is a 35 inch curved monitor with a 144hz Refresh Rate, 4ms (GtG) But the downside is that it's only 2560x1080, which is 1440p over 4k. Of course I can always scale this up with AMD'S VSR but i am afraid that there will there be text scaling issues ect. The only reason I am considering the BenQ is due to the fact that it has a higher refresh rate, slightly higher ms response time, and from what BenQ claims it has good color reproduction (great for my photo work) but I really don't see any reviews on any page from this item and also not many popular users are acknowledging this monitor such as Linus, TekSyndicate, Techsource, ect. So Please give me your opinion and what I should buy, thanks sexies I play competitive CS:GO so that 144hz is gr8, >inb4 R9 295X2

After the launch of LG's amazing 34" curved monitor, Samsung has decided to release their own first curved PC monitor. Samsung 27" SD590C at a mere $429.99. First unveiled at IFA primo September 2014, Samsung has now priced their new 27" curved monitor to be released on the 1st of October 2014. Specifications include: VA-panel 16:9 1920 x 1080 resolution Typical brightness of 350 cd/m2. Contrast ratio of 3000:1 4 ms response time (G2G) Refresh rate of 60 Hz Two 5 watt 2-channel stereo speakers 100x100 wall mount Connectors: D-sub port (WHY?) HDMI port DisplayPort Audio-in jack and an audio-out jack (headphones) Super high res pictures Samsung 34" E790C Price/release date/specs TBA This monitor was first unveiled at IFA primo September 2014, and has yet to get finalized specs and price. The estimated release date and price is yet to be announced, but the E model name, suggests a 2015 release. Specifications include: VA-panel 21:9 3440 x 1440 resolution Contrast ratio of 3000:1 4 ms response time (G2G) Refresh rate of 60 Hz 100x100 wall mount Connectors: 2x HDMI port DisplayPort USB Sources: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/samsung-sd590c-curved-gaming-display,27777.html (27" curved monitor SD590C) https://pcmonitors.info/samsung/samsung-s34e790c-curved-ultrawide-va-monitor/ (TBA 34" 21:9 curved monitor E790C) Legacy: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/199581-lg-to-unveil-curved-34-219-monitor-34uc97-new-4k-and-gaming-monitor-updated-wpics-and-specs/ (LG's 34" 34uc97 monitor) My personal take: I don't really see the point in a 1080p 27" monitor anymore. The SD590 should have been 1440p instead. I am really excited to see curved monitors coming to market, but I have to wonder if the curved nature, is really a benefit on a 16:9 aspect monitor. After seing Linus' review of the LG 34" 21:9 monitor, I am sold on curved monitors in the 21:9 aspect ratio. If it works on 16:9 will be interesting to see in a future review, once this monitor has reached the market. For me though, the most exciting news, is the 34" 21:9 monitor from Samsung. 4ms and VA panel, contra LG's 5ms IPS panel is interesting, and should spark some nice competition. The LG is priced out of reach for most people, so this would be a welcoming release. However, the monitor is not officially released with full spec, so we can only guesstimate on the final product. In any case, competition will result in lower prices, and usually a higher selection of products for us end consumers, so I am very glad to see these monitors popping up. (Now give me a Samsung 34" curved 21:9 with Adaptive Sync). PS: Kill VGA D-sub. Kill it with fire.. then throw spiders in its burnt face.

NCIX: http://bit.ly/1rd3ttx Amazon: http://geni.us/3qTy LG's new 34UC97 is essentially a curved version of their 34UM95, a monitor that Linus uses on a daily basis at work. He LOVES the UM95, but does the curve of the UC97 make it an even better choice?

The monitor supports thunderbolt and includes MAXX AUDIO and 7 W stereo speaker system. Sadly there is no word of Adaptive Sync support, so one can only assume it will not have support. The Digital Cinema 4K Monitor is hardware calibration-ready, features Dual Color Space and LG's exclusive True Color Pro calibration software. Warning huge image 24GM77 24" 144hz gaming monitor The 24GM77 is a 144hz gaming monitor with Dynamic Action Sync (DAS), drastically reducing input lag. The monitor also includes Black Stabilizer for consistent blacks as well as Motion 240, which helps minimize motion blur with a fast response time of less than 1 ms. Sadly this monitor does not seem to include Adaptive Sync (og G-sync) either. I just purchased a Dell Ultrawide curved display from microcenter. It was an impulse buy. Let's just say I always thought 'ultrawide' and 'curved' were gimmicks; but after owning this monitor for a few days I must say I freakin' love it. My question is about my gpu though. I have an EVGA GTX970 FTW and I get about 45-50fps in The Division right now. I am wondering would a 980 be a better option or would another 970 in sli make more sense? Link

Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade to a high end monitor and after some rigorous internetings I have found that either the Samsung S34E790C or the LG 34UC97-S are the droids, I mean monitors, I'm looking for. But my question is- which one?? Linus did a review of the 34UC97-S and praised it and he sort of did a review of the S34E790C (not nearly as in depth as the LG) but given that these monitors are so new I haven't been able to find anything contrasting them head to head when it comes to gaming. Both are nearly identical, the biggest difference being that the Samsung is a VA panel and the LG is an IPS. So you know, I'll primarily be gaming (mainly RPGs and what have you, nothing super fast twitch) and doing a little work on the side (nothing that I would need super color reproduction or photo editing). So anybody have an experience with these monitors when it comes to gaming? Any insight would be greatly appreciated as I'd rather not have to buy both and then return the loser, but I will, if it comes to it! Thanks!
