Hello! I'm building a gaming computer and have most of the parts planned already. Here is my list PCPartPicker part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DcCBq4 Price breakdown by merchant: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DcCBq4/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor ($339.99 @ Best Buy) CPU Cooler: CRYORIG - R1 Universal 76.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($89.95 @ Newegg Marketplace) Motherboard: Asus - Prime Z370-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($162.20 @ OutletPC) Memory: Corsair - Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($209.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital - Blue 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($109.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB FTW Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card ($599.99 @ B&H) Case: Cooler Master - MasterCase H500P Mesh White ATX Mid Tower Case ($149.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: SeaSonic - FOCUS Plus Gold 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($81.99 @ SuperBiiz) Total: $1744.09 Small additions: Thermal paste (could use suggestions) and a PCIe riser cable to vertically mount I'm thinking of using a Scythe Mugen 5 Rev. B instead of the Cryorig R1 Universal to save money, and because I think they'd both work at about the same performance. I would like to overclock a bit. Just for fun I'm really having trouble deciding between graphics cards. I have a 1080p monitor (144Hz). I know that the GTX 1080 is overkill for that, but I want to play games to their best with good frames, and eventually use dual monitors. I also know that the 1070Ti is good for 1080p gaming, but I don't know if it is as good with dual monitors, or as future proof. I chose the CPU because I'll be streaming, fyi. To summarize: I need help determining which CPU cooler to use on an OC'ed i7-8700k. I'm also open to a Ryzen 7 2700x if you think it'd be better for streaming, or an i5-8600k if you think it'd be better. I also want to know which GPU would be 1) more future proof 2) dual monitor capable 3) be able to play games maximized while streaming, the 1080 or the 1070ti. I could also use thermal paste/(200mm) PCIe riser cable suggestions Thanks in advance! P.S. Why, whenever I try to change a sentence, do the letters get replaced? I just want to type normally! Aaargh!

Asus, in its infinite wisdom (), placed a power connector socket in the middle of the MOBO going into my new build. Since it's impossible to access once the CPU cooler (in this case, a Noctua NH-D15s) and graphics card are installed, made a short extension cable to run along side the RAM to the top of the MOBO where I can easily connect and disconnect a cable. However, once I installed the cooler, I found the cable is held against the coolers heat pipes heading up to the fins.In all the years I've had computers, I've never touched a heat pipe in operation so I have no idea how hot they get. Do I need to worry about the heat pipes getting so hot they will melt the insulation of the cable or can I leave the cable where it is now? I can make a slightly longer one and route it over the top of the RAM but that would be a royal pain in the neck and wouldn't look as good.

Hey guys! So i am actually trying to upgrade my pc which runs an athlon processor. i am tired of it being very bad at gaming. i got a gtx 750 oc in it but every game bottlenecks. I am on a budget so this is what i came up with. Please check it out. processor: intel i5 2500k https://bit.ly/2t5sxsq motherboard:gigabyte GA-P67-DS3-B3 lga 1155 https://bit.ly/2JQTs5C ram: kingston https://bit.ly/2l7Quvy im trying to go for a cheaper alternative on ram tho so this is another one: https://bit.ly/2sR9gfi But thing is it says for "AMD only" and i was confused because a ddr3 ram shud work irrespective of intel or amd right? Please help me at this. cpu cooler: coolermaster hyper tx3 evo https://bit.ly/2y7ukmD i have the rest of the stuff like a 450 watt corsair psu and a case n pc fans since im just upgrading. my expenditure is : 63 + 55 + 28 (16 if cheaper ram) + 18 (converted from myr to usd) = $164 or $152 I know it sounds heck cheap but i am still trying to make it even more under my budget. Also i want to know if all the stuff will be compatible. I've done my research and i find it will, especially i could overclock my processor with that motherboard. But i still believe putting the plan out on the forums will make it more failproof. If you could come up with a cheaper plan that would be very helpful too. I live in malaysia so i use sites like lazada and shoppe malaysia. Aliexpress works too but if i could find better deals on local sites that would be great. Maybe newegg could work unless they charge me for shipping. Thanks alot

Does the cpu cooler effectiveness matter depending on what your graphics card is, or am i able to get away with a lower end cooler no matter what other parts i have. Basically does the heat of the cpu have the same temps with a graphics card(beefier components) as it does without. cuz im gonna be putting an i5-8600k in my pc, and i plan on adding a high end gpu when new ones come out. I just dont know if this will affect the temps of the cpu. I may or may not do overclocking, but i dont wanna spend the big bucks. Pls and thx

So I currently have a cooler master hyper 212 led that is supposed to glow red, but honestly looks terrible. So I wanted to get a new red fan. I was looking at these. Pack of 3 Aigo Halo LED Ring Fan 120mm 12cm Sleeve Bearing 120mm LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators (3 Pack Red) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0748BBKT1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZYWfBbMDJ9THD. My problem is that the cpu fan mounting system has clips on the fan to clip on the cpu heat sink. So does anyone have an idea for how I could attach that fan to the heatsink.

I left my PC on during the night as I was mining with my GPU. This morning the system restart during the evening. I was not sure why it restarted as I turned off automatic updates in Windows. I opened Intel XTU to see if there was a system crash and noticed my idle temps were in the 60C range, which seems a little high. I ran a quick Cinebench with the 8700k and my temps are going to 100C and the chip begins to thermal throttle. This was not the case a month ago as I overclocked the CPU to 4.8 and could run the bench with my temps in the low 80s. I thought that maybe some got inadvertently changed in the bios so I reset the bios to factory defaults and booted back into the system to run another Cinebench. During the run I got the same results at stock settings. Here are my system specs: CPU: 8700k Motherboard: Gigabyte z370 Gaming 7 CPU Cooler: Corsair h115i RAM: Crucial 2x8gb PSU: EVGA 1050G GPU: 1080ti When I look into corsair link it says my pump is running in performance mode and running around 3000 rpm. Both of my radiator fans are spinning fine. I used Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste for the cooler. The only thing I have done different on this build was with the thermal paste. I have not used the Kryonaut before and instead of using the "pea size" method, I used the applicator that was provided with the past to spread it out on the IHS. But I applied the thermal paste over a month ago and the temps were fine. Nothing has changed since and now my chip is throttling. Does anyone have any ideas on what troubleshooting steps I should take next? Do you think that my h115i pump died despite that corsair link is saying the pump is working? I really don't want to go buy a new CPU cooler if this one is fine. Any assistance you guys can provide will be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hello guys this is my first time posting here so I hope I'm not doing anything wrong :P. As I said in the title I'm looking for a new PC case, CPU cooler and a gaming monitor 1. Budget & Location Location: Slovenia ( I can check some local stores or buy from amazon.de) budget: PC case~100€ CPU cooler ~100€ Monitor~600€ 2. Aim I'm mostly gonna use my PC for gaming and UNI work (running simulations and stuff like that ) 3. Monitors Currently I'm looking to buy 1 monitor preferably 2560x1440p, 144/164 Hz, 27inch, g-sync Never considered running more than 1 monitor ( are there any significant advantages for running more monitors?). 4. Peripherals I have a basic mouse and keyboard and some cheap speakers so I'm fine 5. Why are you upgrading? My old GPU died :C and when I was looking for a replacement I really got interested in PC build. My current components that I'll be reusing from my old PC are: CPU: i7-4790k Motherboard :Asus z97-p RAM: 2x4 DDR3 1866hz PSU :Cooler Master G650M PSU I also already bought the GPU:msi gtx 1080 ti gaming x trio (I can also upgrade some if the stuff if you guys think it would help as I will give the stuff I replace to my little brother) So now I would like to get a new Case which has a very good airflow ( Noise doesn't really matter as my baby brother will out-volume anything). For the CPU cooler I was looking at the Noctua NH D15 which is a "pretty" big cooler therefore I was kinda having trouble finding a case which the it and my gpu (lenght 325mm) would fit in. I found the Fractal desing S which would fit both and give me the chance to fit additional 3 140 mm fans at the front. So would you guys think that the noctua cooler and the fractal desing S would be a good fit for my components? Also I would really appreciate it if you could give some recommendations for some gaming monitors. Thanks

Hi guys, I recently got an i7 8700k and I made the mistake of underestimating the heat output of it and I got the corsair h75 which isn't strong enough to keep it cold, even at stock clocks it was getting in the 80s and I didn't get the k version to run it at stock. I did replace the thermal compound multiple times and checked all the mounting screws multiple times so it's not the application at fault. I'm looking for a new AIO and I want to know what is a good one to get that I don't have to sell a kidny for and can taim this beast. Keep in mind though that I live in South Africa so certain brands are unavailable for me but corsair, raidmax, and some coolermaster are some of the brands that I have available, there are also raijinteck but I don't know if they are reliable or not. So I don't know which are good and will work for the cpu. My case does not support any format of 140mm radiators but 120 up to 360mm is fine, thanks so much guys.

A few weeks ago I installed a Cryorig C7 on a MSI B250M Mortar mobo to cool a an Intel i5 7500. I had difficulties installing the C7 using the backplate, which is different from the one shown on the installation video. The four mounting posts/feet on the C7 matches the holes on the mobo, but only three on the backplate. So, out of fear that I might damage the parts involved, (my first time installing a cpu cooler) I instead used the included washers/spacers. For about three weeks the installation seems good, but I still has doubts from not installing using a backplate. Idle temps are about 40 deg C, under load are 60 deg C (playing GTA V), with an ambient temps of 36 deg C. so is this setup, me not using the backplate OK? By the way the C7 are brand new/unused, bought from a friend for about 20 us dollars, and the case are a Fractal Design Core 1300

So i am looking into upgrading my pc with a new motherboard, CPU, and ram. I'm close to buying an Intel Core i7-8700K Processor, together with ASUS Prime Z370-A motherboard Currently, I'm rocking an Intel Core i5-4960K Processor with ASUS Z97-A motherboard. On top of that is a Corsair H110i GTX water cooler. The socket for the ASUS Z97-A motherboard is LGA-1155, and the new motherboard is LGA-1151. I know that this is just the number of pins on the CPU and socket, but does it have any relevance to size? The water cooler lists LGA-1155 and LGA-1150, but not LGA 1151 as a compatible socket. But I mean, 1 pin... Is 1 stupid pin1 forcing me into wasting 150 bucks on a new water cooler when the old one works fine? Glad to hear from you all Happy Easter!

I'm putting a Core i7 6700 into this little SilverStone PT13 chassis. There are two main concerns here. First, the height of the cooler: 30mm is the limit in the ultra-slim case. I've found two great very low profile coolers: First, the SilverStone AR04, which - according to SilverStone was designed "For Thin Mini-ITX Only". Yet, on the case's site, they specifically state that it's "not compatible with AR04". It's only 23mm tall, plus this guy put it into the case without problem, so what's going on here? The other one is the NT07-115X with a circular design. Which one would fit and which one would provide better cooling for the i7?

My question is simple, does a Optical Drive Bay Inner CPU Cooler really cool inner cpu on a laptop? Example: I want to buy the Asus FX73VE has great specs but only one cooling vent and a dvd drive, so I looked around and found Optical Drive Bay Inner CPU Cooler on Amazon, but cant find any feedback or reviews telling me if it actually works, so I remember my fav youtuber Linus tech and decided to ask him, so maybe he can show me a video on how to do it and show me if it works or not, hope he reads this. Thanks in advance in any case. Amazon link to Optical Drive Bay Inner CPU Cooler: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076WQBMVM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1SZLGQYCU5TQ3&psc=1

Hey there, ive picked up a new "Arctic Alpine 11 Pro" for a rig im building.. I know this cooler suppose to come with some sort of "push in" bolts that allows me to mount the cooler to the mobo. Ive opened the package and could not find these push in bolts. Someone had this problem with this cooler b4? if yes how did you managed to fix this? Thanks a bunch!

I’ve tried everything, looked at everything, read every forum, watched every video, nothing. I doubt it’s a defect, i needs tips on how other people did it. My fingers hard hurting cause of everything I’ve tried. It seems like all these forums end in “oh I did it on accident, I can’t really explain it, but I did it” This is my first build and I know how to do everything but it’s little annoying things like this that stop me from finishing my first build.

Okay so i have to decide between the Arctic freezer 13 vs Be quiet's pure rock slim. The prices are the same and both can fit. I am purely interested in performance/cooling at high CPU loads. Any knowledge/experience's are highly appreciated. Benchmarks between the two from the same person would be best, i couldn't find any sadly.

cpu cooler A good liquid cooler for i7 8700k?
DevvyHD posted a topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
Hello, I am going to build my first PC in a couple months and I don't know what CPU Liquid-Cooler I should use and how many fans I should use for the case. I was thinking for the CPU Liquid-Cooler I would use the Corsair H150i PRO RGB CPU Liquid Cooler, its a triple fan liquid-cooler, so I was thinking for the case (not sure what case yet, probably Meshify C or Define R6) I would put it obviously at the top and then take all the stock fans out, put 2 - 3 in the front, if I can put 2+ in the back then I would do that. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/frR6XP is the parts I have chosen. (Once again CPU Cooler, if there is any better then tell me it, case probably Meshify C or Define R6) -
Hey guys, so i already am happy with my build but i want to upgrade my RGB from a simple no name brand to something better. So what Fan, cpu cooler, and rgb strip with all linkable control do you recomend? (Please leave links to them too )

Will the Cryorig H5 Ultimate fit in my build with 0 clearing issues with my RAM? Or would the H5 Universal be a smarter choice? RAM: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820331029&cm_re=night_hawk_ram-_-20-331-029-_-Product Also just to confirm the H5 Universal is better than the H7 right?

Hey Guys! What's a great white cpu cooler (rgb led or not) for a white theme build that can lower temps greatly? My processor would be an i7-8700. Or it would be better if I go liquid cooling? Thank you very much.

Was wondering If I could fit a cpu cooler (Be quiet pure rock slim) into my old rigs motherboard due to cpus temperature spikes and bottleneck, my motherboard (Gigabyte F2A68HM-HD2 Motherboard ) has an fm2+ socket and I would like to know if I could fit a modern cpu cooler and if not what are alternative options.

Hello, this is my first time posting anything on these forums, I hope I'm asking my questions in the right place.^^ Recently my pc has been pretty loud. The noise is coming mainly from the cpu fan and even though I cleaned my entire pc, it stays pretty noisy. Now my questions are: 1) Can I just replace the 120mm fan with any other fan, for example a silent wing 3? The mounting of the fan looks like this: 2) What fan would be best? A static pressure fan or just an airflow one? 3) How good is the noise level of AiO coolers compared to air cooling? Is there any reason to switch to a cheaper AiO for me, even though air cooling was capable of keeping temperatures low? I'm also planning to replace my 5 year old case. I will probably pick up the fractal define c tg or the nxzt s340 elite. 4) Which case would be better? Again mostly about the noise level, but also about cable management? I heard that the define c is supposed to be better in both, but I like the looks of the s340 elite more ;-/ 5) I still have three pure wings 2 120mm left, which are pretty new (6months). Are 140mm ones better (quieter) for the front intake? My specs are: i5 4670k (OC) -> will upgrade the cpu to the end of the year ASROCK z87 pro4 8gb ram Sapphire 580 RX 8gb nitro+ HDD, SSD etc. Thanks for helping me.
