Since Coffee Lake has yet to arrive at my region I'm looking for recommendations on my first build. What relatively cheap z370 motherboard would you recommend for an 8700K. Also any general advice/tips/comments about this build: Case: Corsair 460x CPU: i7 8700k Motherboard: ? Video Card: EVGA gtx 1080ti Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x8GB 3000MHz) CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB SSD: Crucial MX200 500GB Cooler: Thermaltake Frio Extreme PSU: Cooler Master B700 ver.2 (700w) (I'm not buying this, I already have it) Monitor: MSI Optix G24C (1080p 144hz) I'm looking to mainly game and edit on premiere pro and after effects with some sporadic streaming. Here is a list with the local prices for this stuff as well as a currency converter: http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=CLP&To=USD

Had not seen this posted yet, but Clevo/Eurocom have announced that they will be launching i7-8700k based laptops by November 15, 2017. As far as specs go, since they are upgrading to the Z370 chipset, they gain support for Optane SSDs, a new Killer 2500 GbE controller and support up to DDR4-3000 memory speeds. Anandtech Specs for the Eurocom Laptops: Eurocom: https://www.anandtech.com/show/11926/eurocom-launches-sky-x4c-x7c-and-x9c-laptops-with-core-i78700k-cpus Clevo: https://www.anandtech.com/show/11916/clevo-announces-p870tm-laptop-coffee-lake-dtr While it is really neat to see them cramming this much hardware (especially with these kind of specs) into a laptop form factor, I doubt I would really want one myself, even if I could afford it, as they look heavy, bulky and probably will throttle something fierce... Would be interesting to know if they have delidded and replaced the TIM in these CPUs as that is supposed to be helping a bit with thermals on the newer Intel CPUs or if you could get a bit better performance out of these by doing that...

If i save up enough, I might be able to get a 1080 TI but if i need to go on a budget, i might get 1060 6GB or 1050 TI. Which CPU would be best for those? I will be doing alot of gaming & some editing here & there but I don't do streaming however.

Asus claims that there is no reason why Coffee Lake could not be compatible with Intel Z270 boards. https://translate.google.se/translate?sl=sv&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=sv&ie=UTF-8&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sweclockers.com%2Fnyhet%2F24602-asus-intel-z270-kunde-varit-kompatibel-med-coffee-lake&edit-text=&act=url

Bit-Tech recently sat down with Asus ROG product manager Andrew Wu with the discussion on Z370 and Coffee Lake, and found out straight from Asus themselves that Coffee Lake should work on Z270 and the extra pins don't mean much difference to warrant a new board. Z270 might support Coffee Lake and all it need was a bios update as well as a update to the Management Engine. But in the end, Intel makes the calls and they all have to follow it. Mr. Wu then goes on to Intel's defense by saying, those who owns a Z270 probably won't upgrade anyway, and the Z370 is mostly targeted those who have way older systems. http://www.bit-tech.net/features/tech/motherboards/asus-interview-andrew-wu-rog-motherboard-pm/1/

Hi! I'm in the middle of deciding what my next gaming build will be, and I really want a hexa core for some additional "futureproofing". I would prefer to go for coffee lake, but I'm hearing that it got pushed back to february 2018? I'm not up for waiting that long just for a tiny increase in single core performance, but then again going the x299 platform is going to cost me more. I'd like to hope that they will announce it alongside Threadripper, but that may be a bit too optimistic? Thanks!

That probably sounds strange to a lot of people, and I'd like to hear feedback, but let me explain first. I like Intel products, I really do. I've bought from them for a long time, and all I've recommended for CPU's. What I don't like is how little competition they have. Ryzen was a breath of fresh air, because it gave a real alternative. It's slowly letting AMD get back on their feet. A negative reputation, deserved or not, doesn't disappear in a few months of success. I want them to have more time as top dog. If Intel releases a competitively priced hexa-core CPU now, especially one that combats Ryzen 7 in content creation, I feel like it will be bad for the market. I've even seen sites that simply want to see Intel squash AMD. What do you think?

I'm relativity a novice PC Enthusiast. I have some questions about Coffee lake. I currently have a 3570K in my system that is without a doubt bottle-necking my 2x 970 SLI. Not anything too significant but a buddy of mine gets 7-20 more FPS with the same video card setup depending on the game. Although this isn't that bad tbh and I still run most games at max, I've decided it's almost time to upgrade my whole system. Now should I upgrade to a 7700K or Ryzen 7 1700? Or wait 5 months for Coffee Lake? It's not like my PC is dead so waiting is fine. Also since the 7700K is LGA 1151 and I've read Coffee Lake might use the same socket, could I just pop Coffee Lake in the same motherboard the 7700K would be in? I doubt the performance upgrade would be worth it anyway but I'm just asking in a hypothetical sense in the case 3 years from now I could upgrade if Coffee Lake is 30% better like rumors say. Lastly I just wanna say sorry for any ignorance here. I'm leaning on Ryzen because I hear it's better for streaming, which I'd like to give a shot, but it's hard to look past the negative stigma I have for AMD. I've never used AMD so it's out of my comfort zone if that makes sense but I'm willing to give it a shot.

I have been beating my head against google trying to find this benchmark. I have found the 8600k vs the 1600x overclocked, the 8600k vs the 1600x base clocks, and the 8400 vs the 1600 base clocks. I haven't been able to find any info regarding the 1600 with a max overclock vs an 8400. I feel like this would be the fairest comparison at the $200 price point, a few reviewers have stated they didn't overclock the Ryzen because the 8400 can't overclock, which I find annoying as that is one of the major benefits of the Ryzen. Any help finding this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All, I am buying a new CPU and cannot decide between the i5 8400 or the Ryzen 5 1600x (maybe could stretch to 1700 if the performance is worth it) my rig is purely for gaming as all other tasks are simply word processing for school. which CPU would you recommend? (the CPU will be paired with EVGA 1070) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks For Any Help!

Hey peeps, wondering if you guys can help me out... So I was planning on a new build: -i7 8700k -Asus Maximus Hero X Z370 -Samsung 960 EVO 250GB M.2 NVMe Upgrading from an i7 3930k, already have a 1070 Strix GPU. Researching the 8700k, I discover that it only has 16 PCIe lanes. Would having my GPU and an NVMe m.2 (utilises PCIe x4) cause any problems? If not/so could you explain how and why? Not completely in the know regarding PCIe lanes Thanks in advance!!! -Grant

So a few months ago, I planned a build, but as I was saving for it, some new stuff came along, and I decided to change some stuff. What are your guy's thoughts on this build? Everything is USD. EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 (799.99) Intel Core i7 8700k (359.99, assuming it stays MSRP) Asus Z370 Maximus X Wifi AC (279.99) Corsair LPX 2x8 @2666 (140... although I just checked and its 190 for some reason...mining?) 1x WD Blue 1TB 7200RP, 1x WD Blue 500GB m.2 drive (200 combined) Cryorig R1 Ultimate (90) Corsair HD120 3 pack (90) Phanteks Enthoo Luxe (180) EVGA P2 Supernova 750w (140; I chose this and not a lesser one since its the least powerful PSU with extra SATA and PCI ports for expandability) Corsair K70 Luxe (160) Acer Predator XB241YU, 1440p, 1m, 144hz, TN (500) Total; $2950, $2270 without peripherals. I don't have a set budget, but would like stuff to be kept as cheap as possible (although, I am aware I am not being the best when it comes to price/performance. Thanks for any help!

Hello I want a new computer, and I discovered something I have never seen before. I like to buy prebuilts from this one specific site, because you get a three year warranty and fast shipping. I found a computer with an i7 9700F CPU. I have heard It doesn't have an iGpu, which is not an issue for me, since it has an RTX 2070 SUPER. But that's all I know. Are there any other differences between the 9700F and the 9700/9700K? I don't think I need a 9700K since I'm not planning on doing any overclocking. Is it worth swapping out for something else? Spec list: Intel Core i7 9700F ZOTAC RTX 2070 SUPER ASUS ROG Strix B360-F Gaming S-1151 Mobo Corsair Vengance RGB PRO DDR4 16GB 2933MHz CM Hyper H411R RGB Black Edition Cooler Kingston A2000 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD Corsair TX550M 550w PSU Corsair Carbide Spec-06 RGB Case

Hi! There are several videos and tutorials on how to make coffee lake cpus (8th gen) work on z170 motherboards (6th gen). I was wondering if it would work on a z170 motherboard which supports ddr3. I don't plan on building such a system (i7 2600k still serves me well), this is more a "What would happen?" question.

Hi All, I am wondering if this is normal for this CPU? I did not overclock it in BIOS but it runs a higher frequency. At the time of taking the screenshot nothing except chrome was running. I noticed the multiplier is changing on its own every few seconds from x43 to x44. never used CPU-Z so i wanted to check if that's normal. Could it be because of XMP enabled in bios? But it should not touch my CPU afaik? What you think?

Hi there, I'm not sure if I'm just browsing through too many random horror stories, but it's definitelly wierd. I'll try to make the explanation quick. My colleague bought Asus ROG gl503vd laptop few moths back and I really liked it. I knew they were going to update that cool chassis with 8th gen Core i7-8750H processor, so I waited a bit. Last month I bought that baby and I really love the laptop. ...except, since pretty much day one, there is this scratchy high pitched noise comming out of it. It's not the harddrive, it's not the fan, it's comming most likely from CPU's PCB on the mother board. Whelp, I packed it, sent it to a local ASUS service center and it stayed there for three weeks. It came back with replaced motherboard (which also means a new processor in laptop terms) and the noise is still there. They wrote in the report that the noise was eliminated a little, but it's supposed to be a natural behaviour of the laptop and it's within tolerances as it's not louder than 10db. (I'd really love to know where they got that number.) Well I did my digging anyways and found out I'm definitely not alone in this. What's more interesting, people report exactly the same problems not only on other ASUS laoptops, but also on Dells, HPs, MSIs and even MacBooks. ...and there is often (not always, but very often) a one common detail. 8th gen Intel CPU. This is how my gl503ge sound: https://youtu.be/Ho_0b9IxuaM (before repair) There are few others: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIVJHgDCUSw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VbElCtHvOI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89INEtXhd7s (little lost in mic noise on this one) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEO3cn406Ig (this gui amplified it nicely, this choppy one is exactly what I have after the repair) And here are various topic across various manufacturers dealing with the same coil whine-ish issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ssrep9dqdmU https://www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/8ptfu8/would_you_accept_this_level_of_coil_whine_dell/ https://www.dell.com/community/Linux-Developer-Systems/New-Kaby-Lake-XPS-13-coil-whine/td-p/5088148/page/30 https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/8zyuyx/is_anyone_noticing_coil_whine_noise_in_their_new/ https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Spectre-x360-8th-Gen-i7-Noise/td-p/6394376 https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/2018-mbp-15-coil-whine.2128494/page-2 (This guy exchanged 5 macbooks...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGswmkw-yJA (Also I've joined this post of various gl503ge ang gl703ge users with the same issue: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?103230-Asus-ROG-Strix-GL503GE-SCAR-wrong-ram-slot-scratchy-noise-cpu-always-on-max-clock) It's something that has to do with C1E power states as turning C1E off makes it mostly go away. (but also renders i7s power effciency useless) ...and when idling you can hear it mostly when CPU gets small bursts of work. Also unplugging the laptop from the wall makes it go away in lot of cases including mine. Is it possible that Intel screwed something up in Coffee Lakes and they make various PCB boards scream? Please help, because we often invested in over 1,2k USD laptops and we can't even sell them brand new, because they emit sounds like that. ...and manufacturers see it as a normal thing, so RMAs do not work either. Cheers, if you reed this, love ya, Linus, Martin.

Hi, so as you may have known, my brother is looking to get a new PC for £400. To recap: He has a £300-£400 budget and is looking to only game, so his friends recommended an i3-8100 & GTX 1050 build list. The i3-8100 alone would be 30% of his budget so is Coffee Lake appropriate for a super-tight budget build like this? He's 15, barely knows anything about computer hardware, is in school, and has next to no money. Should he be looking into the possibility of a Ryzen 2200G system or even a used Haswell system? EDIT: I've just seen an i7-4790K + Gigabyte Z97 bundle going for £150 right now with 21h of bidding left, should I hop on that and snatch that combo for my brother if he were to go Haswell?

I have a couple questions. I want a faster and better CPU. I have had some bad FPS with CPU Heavy games. Also, I would like to render videos and animations faster. I was thinking up upgrading to a good Coffee Lake processor. I was thinking of getting an i7 8700 (Costs less an I don't think I want to overclock.) My current CPU is an i5 6500. So here are my questions. How much could I sell my i5 6500 for? and can I upgrade from Sky Lake to Coffee Lake right now without buying any new parts other than the CPU. Current motherboard is MSI B150 Gaming M3. Thanks in advance!

So I just started comparing Intel and AMD budget builds by making spreadsheets and not relying on other's benchmarks. But now all the AMD chipsets and specs are done and the only things left are the INTEL Chipsets, and THEY ARE SO CONFUSING, cause I can't find them as a list or something like I found AMD's (or just knew them). And so I just want someone to list down or link me to a website that has ALL INTEL 8TH GEN CHIPSETS. And I also don't know the compatibility through INTEL Chipsets, but I understand all the AMD side. Hoping for a positive response, Basil EDIT: I AM NOT AN AMD FANBOY (it's really confusing to be one thses dayz tho)

Hey LMG community! Soooo listen, I entered Intel's 8086k giveaway sweepstakes during computex and it seems I won! However, to run the processor I'll very obviously need to upgrade from my z68/DDR3 era stuff. I am NOT an experienced overclocker and did not *purchase* the CPU (inb4 "U shud hav gotten a cheeeeper 1 dumdum) SO here's my question: will the 8086k still work/perform in a CHEAPER motherboard, ie an H370/B360/H310 chipset? I realize these chipsets DO NOT support overclocking, I am trying to get up and running for the lowest price possible and can save money with these cheaper boards IF they'd work. Pls, keep grouchy comments to yourself. TL;DR poor person won 8086k will it work in a h370/b360/h310 mobo?

Two questions: (1) In terms of gaming and future proofing, is it better to spend money on an 8th gen I5 or I7 CPU? I know the I5 CPUs are considerably cheaper than the I7s, but are games going to start utilizing the I7 CPU more than the I5s in the future? (2) For OCing, is there much of a difference in terms of gaming between the 8th gen I5 K series vs the I7 K series? I will be OCing on the more conservative side just to get my feet wet. Is there a reliable website or guide you guys can suggest to educate myself on OC? Thanks for you help and any suggestions.
