  1. 3600 often provides better price to performance when overclocked compared to the 3600x (I remember hearing this a while ago so not sure if it has changed since)
  2. Might be able to save a little by using a lower wattage power supply, obvious still go for a reputable brand and ensure its high quality, but 650w is more than you would realistically need for this config. Others may be able to correct me though
  3. The 2070 super performs slightly better overall, in terms of raw performance, but depending on pricing where you are, the 5700XT is often far superior in terms of price to performance. I believe AMD have solved the vast majority of early driver issues, so the only real factor is the price difference between the two options where you are. (For example, here in the UK, the 5700XT can often be had for around £100 less than the 2070 super) Hope this helped a little
  4. Hi all! So a friend from college recently offered to send me a single LL120 fan, obviously this would mean I would not have a lighting node or a controller. I know the fans have a 4 pin PWM cable and also a propriatary RGB header. My question is whether I can use the fan by simply plugging the 4pin into the motherboard and leaving the RGB header unplugged? I couldn't work out whether this would mean the fan wouldn't work at all, would work but with no LED, or would work with LED but just on whatever the default lighting setting is since I can't control it. I am not too
  5. Ok I feel incredibly stupid I tend to say "no" to everything windows asks for permission due to the windows data collection bullshit thanks very much, it fixed the issue
  6. So, my mic is an AFX Firestar USB Mic, my headphones are the Razer Man O' Wars. so suddenly the Mic stopped working in all programs. if i go onto "manage audio devices" and talk into the mic, there is no green bar to show input is detected, however if i click "listen to this device" i do get the feedback, so the mic isn't dead. i also tried using the mic on the Man O' Wars to the exact same effect, seemingly no input, but "listen" shows that the mic does work if i go to "set up microphone" i get this error "The wizard could not s
  7. reinstalled it 3 times already to no avail
  8. Ok I downloaded the utility software and ran a scan, it says the firmware is up to date
  9. thanks for the reply The sata mode is AHCI the bios is up to date to my knowledge (checked online) could you explain what you mean by ssd firmware/driver updates (or more accurately how to go about checking)
  10. After upgrading to an ssd and using a usb to install windows 10 my pc now fails to boot every 3rd boot. the first two boots brings me to the screen where you select a boot drive (either volume 4 or 8, with 8 being the ssd) after 3 seconds is automatically boots to the ssd (8) and works perfectly. however, every 3rd boot the pc fails to boot with boot error 0xc000000e, if i then press ESC to go to diagnostics and press enter to "continue boot" then it works fine. this is a consistent pattern. I would appreciate any help, thanks
  11. they seem to be pretty inconclusive as most just test the 8700k except maybe this but its the only i can seem to find
  12. yes but if I were to go with 8700 I would wait for B360 in Q1 2018
  13. so in mainstream AAA titles (BF1, GTA V etc) would the 8700 perform better?
  14. Hey all, sorry about the random influx of annoying CPU questions but I want to make sure I make the right choice so, the i7 8700 (non-k) is being sold in my local store for about £10-15 more than the 7700k side note: the prices in the store are identical to online prices so while this seems weird the 8700 is actually cheaper at my local store than it is online I intend on getting a new motherboard anyway due to mine lacking a lot of features I would like so whether that is a Z270 or B360 doesn't matter too much My question is e
