I have a Dell Laptop Model M731R. The battery stopped charging and the unit wouldn't power, even on AC power. So I ordered a new battery and a New AC Adapter. The battery will NOT CHARGE. The laptop works on AC power alone, and it works on the charge already in the battery, but no charging. I am confused. I wouldn't think the motherboard is bad since it powers up and works just fine on AC Power. What gives? Anyone have any ideas?

Hello guys, So I've noticed something worrying regarding my phone just now.. It's a Galaxy S4 and model number is GT-9500 You see, The original wall charger and its cable have been a lot slower at charging it than through USB 3 ports which was irritating and odd enough. Now about 4 months earlier, I bought two identical power banks and both came with their own little charging cable. I noticed that using this one on my phone yielded 1.2 A of current going to my phone (measurements all made using Ampere app). This was much higher than the 460 mA I was getting through USB and with another cable and 4x what my wall charger was outputting. By the way, that wall charger cable is faulty and the actual wall adapter itself can still output 1.2A so it's not the one at fault. Back to those power bank charging cables though. I was getting happily 1.2A of current and then after a month or two I noticed the current started to drop off and now it's at around 600-700 mA depending on what seems to be the cable's mood that day -__- But I wasn't sure what was causing that so today I went and grabbed the second power bank's cable that had never been used before because I didn't need it and, surprise surprise, This one is charging at full current again! 1 to 1.2 A ... I also tried a different wall adapter as well as cable and also, every possible mix and match using all the above mentioned components to really pinpoint the faulty component and at this point it's either my phone itself, the battery (never replaced in 2 years of use) or planned obsolescence by Samsung. What seems to be happening is my phone is degrading the cables I'm using with it or it somehow learns what cables have been plugged to it and limits the current to bother me enough to buy a new phone. Yes this last one is far fetched and I have no idea how my phone can know how each cable behaves and times each one's usage to at some point cut the current flow. I really need help before going out and buying a new cable because it seems like my phone is the problem. Or are those symptoms or a dying battery? I really don't think so. Anyways, sound off below and thanks in advance

Guys, I've been using this laptop for quite a while and I'm still curious, will the battery overcharge if i keep plugging it while i play? I'm getting quiet tired if i need to plug out and plug in the charger every time its already on 100%. Also how can i use AC power only from the charger and not the battery? Thanks before.

EDIT: Info OS: Windows 10 Pro: 64bit HP Elitebook 8570p Export of msinfo unsuccessfully attached(getting error -200) http://pastebin.com/dEuCbE0m So I have this laptop, I inherited it from my father (he got a new work laptop). Everything was fine until the AC Adapter shorted and I tried to fix it I had an old 2-pin charger with the right voltage and amperage but it didn't fit. After doing research on google I discovered the 3rd pin was only used to ID the adapter as being original(simplified). I cut off the 3-pin connector from the shorted adapter and found a diagram telling me which wires were ground and which v-out. I connected them and nothing... So I swapped the wires figuring I had connected wromsinfo32.txtng *facepalm*... After plugging the adapter into an outlet and hearing the distinctive noise of something being shorted and seeing my laptop screen go dark. I unplugged and tried turning it on again, nothing.... My dads new work laptop luckily used the proper adapter and I was able to see that the laptop was in working order... mostly The battery was not charging so I figured it was ruined and ordered a new one. (In windows it said "Plugged In, Charging, 4%" but it never gained any charge, not while sitting idle or turned off) My dad permanently borrowed some adapters from old laptops at work and I got on with my life expecting the new battery to fix everything. Only it didn't. I received the new battery today plugged it in and nicely surprised when it arrived charged to 34%. After playing for a couple of hours(plugged in) I checked the battery level and it was saying "Plugged in, Charging 34%". It hadn't charged, so I decided to see if I could play on battery alone and I could. Since then I have tried a variety of fixes: Uninstalling the drivers in Device Manager, then searching for hardware updates Uninstalling the drivers in Device Manager, then restarting Power off, remove battery, hold power button for 1min+ (to deplete an internal battery) Cleaning the battery connectors Trying different AC adapters Booting a Ubuntu Live DVD to see if it was a windows problem Disassembling the laptop to check the soldering on the battery connectors TL:DR; Tried to fix my laptop adapter - fucked up my laptop Next step, venturing into the BIOS Any suggestions appreciated

Hey, So since a little while my Sennheiser RS140's haven't been charging properly. So what would happen is I place the headphones on the charger and for a few mins they will charge (or atleast the red charging light burns), but then the headphones don't charge anymore, which I can tell because they run out again in a very short amount of time. The problem keeps getting worse meaning the red light stays on for a shorter and shorter amount of time. What could be the issue? Warranty is expired.

Hi Everyone, my knowledge sadly vanishes when it comes to this subject so any and all help is appreciated. So I have a newish Macbook 12" and i'd like to be able to charge this via my car or an external battery pack. I know the Macbook uses USB 3.1(14.5v x 2a = 29w) via a type C I also know that more amps a charger can provide is fine since the device only pulls as much as it needs. But with volts most of the time what is supplied should be match but with some devices it doesn't matter too much. However I have not found any Car chargers or battery packs that match this or get close, so far the closest I found was a belkin that can provide 27w, but it has something like 9.5v x 2.9a output. Would this be an issue, or is it fine since it's USB? From what i've read if the volts isn't matched not only will it charge slower but it can damage the battery. Better yet, if you know of any chargers or batteries that will work link them! Otherwise i'll probably just get a 150 watt inverter for the car. Also, all the other car chargers i've found that say they work fine with this(State they are Macbook 12" compatible) are all 10w - 15w and are normally around 5 volts, so those so far are rather suspect. Regards,

Hi LTT, I'm not all that active around these forums, but I know people here are very reliable when it comes to advice, and that's the reason I'm posting this here today. If this post belongs elsewhere on this forum, please let me know, this felt like the best place to start with. My girlfriend is coming over for the weekend and she has a Macbook Pro 15" from 2016, which uses a USB-C charger, but she has forgotten to pack it before she left. The only piece of equipment in my house that uses a USB-C charger is my Samsung Galaxy S8. What I'd like to know is whether it would be possible for her to charge her Macbook using the Galaxy's charger. From what I've read so far, there likely won't be any issues, but I can't find another thread anywhere that answers this exact question, and since the S8 charger has Quick Charge, I wanted to double check before I completely ruin her pride and joy of a laptop. I feel like this may be relevant, so I will mention that I live in the UK, in case that changes things due to different voltage from the socket and whatnot. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Have a good one!

I bought a nice braided USB-C cable, and I noticed that it has many more pins than the charging cable my Nexus 6P came with. Old cable: New cable: Does this equate to a difference in potential data transfer speeds and/or power delivery? What's the reason for this?

mod Modding a MSI laptop to charge through its Type C port
ArcSmith posted a topic in Cases and Mods
I was looking at my unused type c port on my laptop and I was wondering if it would be possible to get some spare diodes and wires and hook it up internally to the dc power in port so that I could charge off of the type c port. Is there any reason why this wouldn't work because I couldn't find any tutorials online or anything close? I though about this when I saw Unbox Therapy bring a magsafe type charger back to the macbook via the type c port. Edit: Also would anyone have an idea as to how to do this so that I could still use that port to charge future devices? -
Hello, around Christmas 2016 I purchased a Razer Blade gtx 970m, and I have enjoyed using it for around 7 months. Now I have noticed when its charging and I'm heavy gaming (PUBG, CS:GO, Overwatch). The charging seems to randomly switch between 'Not Charging' and 'Charging'. This means the fps drops down to 30 each time and then jumps back up to 60 - 100, and the battery slowly goes down, this can be quite annoying. I have tried changing NVIDA Control Panel settings to Prefer Maximum Performance and Intel Graphics settings. Can anyone help with keeping the same fps when charging / not charging? Or should I consider buying a new battery / charger? Any answer is appreciated Laptop Specs: GeForce GTX 970m Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU at 2.60GHz 15.86 GB RAM 3200 x 1800, 60Hz

Hello community, I am asking myself if modern devices like my ZTE axon 7 could charge even slower than 0,7 A from my old galaxy y adapter, namely 0,5 A or if it will not start to charge, because I know that slower charging is better for the battery.

Hi folks, I ran into a rather odd situation, I have a MacBook Pro 2017 and a Galaxy A5 2017 and when I plug the phone into the laptop it starts charing up from the phone! I connected them with the type C cable delivered with the macbook to connect to the wall brick, is this the problem because it is a charge cable instead of a data cable? Thnx for the help!

Since yesterday night the laptop has been having problems. I'm not too worried since it's covered by warranty but it's still worrying and troublesome. I first noticed the problem after seeing the charging light (the light bar in front of mouse pad) was blinking. It was turning off and on so I went to check the charging status. Every now and then it would says "not charging". This happens every 5-10 seconds. Battery seems find from the bios and battery report, the health is excellent. I've tried everything from changing the socket to rebooting the laptop. I'm out of ideas right now and am trying to get in contact with Dell. In the meantime what do you guys have to say? Here's a quick video demonstrating the problem, please excuse the vertical recording

So I have a weird problem that involves my Note 3. For some time now when I plug in the chargingcable and it starts to charge, a message on the top of the screen pops up that says that my phone is in silent mode and asks me if its ok or if I dont want to miss any calls or messages and every damn time I have to press that its ok. Dont get me wrong its just one click but it feels strange because this has never happened in the 3 years that I have had this phone before. Any suggestions or tips?

**Overnight cell phone Wireless Charging** I've always plugged in the provided cable and left my cell phone charging overnight. But are there any disadvantages to overnight Wireless Charging? I know a wireless charging pad can be slower, which is fine because I would use it overnight. But what about Heat or Decreased Battery Life? I just got a LG G6 and it's only disadvantage is the battery cannot be removed and replaced. So I'm slightly concerned about wearing out my battery too soon. If wireless charging is no more of a problem than the good old fashion USB power cord then I won't worry about it. Have you used a Wireless Charging Pad for your phone? And if so what are the pros and cons you have experienced?

Cleaning out my tech closet and found an older powermat charging pad and was curious if there is much of a difference to the newer "charging" (PMA) mats thats out in the wild. From what I remember theres 2 wireless charging standards. Qi-More commonly adapted & PMA-Primarily used by At&t-branded phones I'm guilty of buying into the wireless charging hype. imo at the time it charged my *blackberry much .. much .. slower than actually plugging it in via micro-usb and threw it in storage after the novelty wore off. (it made a futuristic beep every time i docked it) https://www.amazon.com/Powermat-Position-Charging-Mat-BlackBerry/dp/B00462QB4C

Hello guys, I recently bought this usb otg controller (https://www.amazon.de/GameSir-G3w-Gamecontroller-Controller-Playstation/dp/B019PSLC36/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497898563&sr=8-1&keywords=gamesir+g3w) for my galaxy note 3 to play some games and it works really well ... the only problem is that I cannot charge the phone while playing because the only usb port is taken up by the controller. So I thought that there might be a adapter to split the one micro usb to 2 female micro usb ports but I didn't find such a thing. Is there some way to charge the phone while using the controller for gaming ? Thanks already

Hello, I am in need of a monitor that can put out around 18 watts. preferably at 1920x1080 as I don't need the extra resolution. It must be relatively small

This might be a pci lane related problem so I'll start with the details of my rig- I got this mATX motherboard and an i5-6400 (click for links). Inside I've attached a GTX 950 and a TP-Link Wifi Adapter onto the mobo. The front IO panel has 1 usb 2.0 which I don't use and a couple audio jacks. In the back I have 2 usb 2.0 for which I use the mouse+keyboard. Also there are 4 usb 3.0 jacks. I use them for these peripherals - An external Hard disk which utilizes usb 3.0, an Xbox gaming controller, a Phone charger and USB headphones. Inside I've used 3 of the four SATA cable slots for 2 HDD's and an SSD. The issue- Whenever I've tried charging my bluetooth speakers it would charge for 5 seconds and I would hear the not charging anymore sound. It used to be that if I unplugged everything else in the back it would charge but ever since I added a second monitor it has stopped. Now I charge my speakers with a wall socket USB adapter. I also noticed that I can't get iTunes to detect my phone. I can read the folder in 'This PC' but I can't sync it or anything since it doesn't even show up. File transferring on my SSD or the external seems to not use its full capabilities at always caps at around 80mbps. (mega bytes) Have I run out of Pci lanes in my PC? Could this be why the speakers dont charge or my phones not being detected in iTunes? I never have had a full understanding of how pci lanes are utilized.

Today my brother tried to plus his power brick next to my power brick on the power strip. It wouldn't fit because the USB cable was in the way, but he didn't give up. He forcibly tried to plug his in. I caught him and told him to stop. I then checked how the connection on my plug was.( I like my technology in perfect condition ) When I did and moved the USB cable a little bit I heard this noise. It sounded like a static shock, a cracker breaking, or tiny shards of plastic cracking. It was very quiet though and the connection wasn't as snug anymore. It used to be so tight that plugging the cable in took plenty of effort and it wouldn't move at all when it was in. Now it can move and with that noise. I checked on my other USB ports for example my laptop and the small Apple charging brick and they all did move and more freely than this but none of them made that crunchy noise. I also plugged a different cable in and it still had that noise. Is this something I should be concerned about?

My new laptop is not charging when the CPU is under load... I think? When doing normal work on my computer there is not a problem, but as soon as I start up a graphics intensive program such as a video game or Creo, the computer starts to switch from charging to not charging. when it does this it beeps and the screen dims and un-dims. I think that this could be that the charger is not providing enough amps, but it is the charger that came with the laptop. Any suggestions or ideas? it also starts switching when starting a new program. I know that it is not the adapter that is the issue because I do not have to wiggle or move it at all to get it working again. Thanks!
