So. I've been researching and following AI/ML for some time now and have been following up some courses online. I'm going to be joining college in a month or so. Now i have my parents permision to buy titan v because i will not be able to afford future upgrades, so this will be it. I wll be squeezing every last bit of investment i'm putting into this. My budget is $3700 ... so. heres what i understand. -RAM, GPU and Storage is Crucial. RAM - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Corsair-Dominator-Platinum-Series-32GB-4-x-8GB-DDR4-2666-PC4-21300-2666MHz-C16/283036773409?epid=691261448&hash=item41e64e6c21%3Ag%3AgWIAAOSwVXZbOj9K&_sacat=0&_nkw=Corsair’s+Dominator+Platinum&_from=R40&rt=nc&LH_TitleDesc=0 1. Atleast double the memory of the GPU (titan v has 12) so 32gb 2- Secondhand because ram unlike CPU, GPU and Motherboard does not degrade a lot in performance from overclocking. 3- Clock speed does not need to be crazy because most current cpus only have limited system memory I'm probably wrong about system memory.Correct me please. 4. Also Intel will soon be releasing a Optane persistant memory. what are your thoughts on that? Will it preserve my work if the power goes out (I live in India. so this will happen very often). What are your thoughts on use of server memory like Load Reduced DIMM. 5. Talkingabout server memory some Current CPUs support ECC memory. I've read on some other forums that ECC is not a big concern for beginners but for a well trained model ECC is a must. so Later maybe? CPU- This one I'm most Conflicted about.... Intel or Ryzen? ... more cores or more GHz?... ECC or non ECC? This one has to be solved in Comments i guess. GPU- Titan V (single) The heart of my build. I chose this Despite of AMD's upcoming 7nm Vega Instinct because CUDA is more popular than steam cores. AMD might gain traction in this department soon because of their open source platform. I don't care about the leaked 32gb hbm2 or 20TFLOPS of speed. It will probably be another Accelerator card or a very expensive replacement for quadro GV100... not for me Radeon instinct MI25 was a excellent competitor to titan XP but they went and made it a accelerator card. Their marketing and engineering department is like a troubled marriage with excellent children. Seriously! you make the best deep learning oriented GPU... WITH hbm2, BEFORE nvidia and still be behind in that race. I can also earn from rendering other peoples work from some cousin of mine who works at an architecture firm startup. I can partner with them when i can learn how to render using ray tracing and explore the house in VR.... Far fetched plan but good plan. this will be state of the art in my city. titan v is actually cheaper on EBAY for only $2600 but im too paranoid to buy from there. STORAGE- SSD good HDD bottleneck... Optane Better...SDD Okay... but Optane is good with HDD so. - Optane SD 900P 280 gb with a good high memory HDD will be good. I need help here with the hard disk types and if there are any new ones oriented toward this purpose. PSU and Peripherals- One perk about TITAN V is that the Computer need not run for days. so long runs are not a problem. Neither am i going fancy with RGBs and Peripherals. Only CPU will be Chilled and i cannot afford GPU cooling. im not sure i the RAM needs cooling, and the optane has a heatsink of its own. The Case will probably have to be open case and will be operated with the AC and fan running in the room. There is no monitor because i have a LG 4K 60Hz Smart TV. probably the one Linus has at his test bench. The computer will be at home for safety purposes and will be remotely controlled by me from another city. yeah and thats it. I'll install Ubuntu 18 as the OS and Windows 10 (pirate4evr)

kind of just want to pick peoples brains and see where this $270 pc takes me and what comes out of this for the community Starting specks "new"- i5 6500,500gb 7200rpm drive, 8gb DDR4 2133,the bigger 240 watt PSU(might be upgrade for SSF 180watt), stock fans WIN10 PRO and no discrete GPU right now. Things I have done today is made a dust filter for the intake it is going to live in a workshop environment "aka hell for electronics" I installed a crucial 240gb M.2 sata3 drive installed a fresh copy of windows pro on it and wiped the original drive making it separate storage taped over the white led indicator and taped up the back of the 5.2 bay in the front so it doesn't suck dirt into my drive bay. the first question I really have is has anyone found a aftermarket AIO that would work on the dell motherboard or atleast a good fan because I may if prices come down want to swap in the i7- 7700 or I might give up on the dell board and get a z270 board and put the 6500 in it back in this case because it has a lot more room than the SFF having a pair of 2.5 bays and the power for more drives along with the 2 full length 16x,8x pcie slots with the 1x and legacy pci also the back having dual display already and the 530 gpu surprised me with how much power it had over my older i5 -4210u with 4400 gpu dell xps 1820 that is my home rig for now. Also whats the opinion on a good priced monitor that would match up to the integrated gpu my current one is a hp 2311x so its 1080 60hz but its just kinda meh looking when im watching content.

Hello, I'm new here, so I think it's a right place to post it but here we go... I recently bought a Ryzen 1700 and paired it with GA-AB350M-DS3H because it seems like a decent motherboard(it's on X370 chipset) and is quite cheap. The thing is, I have no clue what memory to choose. I have my eye on a Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB(2X4GB) 3000Mhz CL15(CMK8GX4M2B3000C15) but I have no idea if it will work or not(I want to buy it because I can get it for about 70€). Could anyone please help me with that? Thanks in advance and have a nice day,

What I bought : Dell E1916HV 18.5' 500w power supply Wireless USB wifi adapter Red dragon : mouse, mouse pad, headset, keyboard (mechanical) Mid tower atx case raidmax v4 What I need : cpu, gpu, ram, motherboard For less than 500$ (R7000,that's south african currency,Rand)Please try your best to keep prices as low as possible So the only consoles i had was : PS vita,PSP and xbox 360 (when it came out).I liked handhelds due to its portability, but now I want to change and play better games, currently i only play games mobile (2gb ram phone,so Im not used to good graphics) I don't want to buy anything 2nd hand, unless you tell me thats the only way with my budget.I'm not used to high graphics and fps. What i want to be able to play : GTA V,metal gear solid V, watchdogs 2,fallout 4 and just cause 3. Like I said,i don't mind low graphics settings. In fact due to my budget i won't mind play at 720p (aim for that when recommending parts, 720p low settings and at least 40fps average,i won't mind dips into 35+fps) Thanks for your help!

Good evening, or at least it is here in the UK. Straight to the point here, i'm looking at building a computer for my mum, and i am wondering if anyone here has done the same. She uses her current laptop for; Word documents. Spreadsheet documents. Social media. I'm thinking small form factor, silent(ish), low maintenance, reasonable-fast performance, and low build price. I'm after Case (micro ATX maybe?) Mother board CPU (AMD or intel?) Power supply hard drive. peripherals (mouse, keyboard, speakers and monitor) All opinions appreciated, Thank you!

The parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/s7LqHh What do you think? Chose the CPU because: 6 cores will not be mainstream for a while Higher clock speeds are more important than core count Overall great price/performance Chose CPU cooler because: Intel stock cooler is potato quality $20 is all the budget I have for cooling Got a lot of recommendations for the Cryorig M9i Chose motherboard because: It has great features at an expensive price: 4 DIMM slots USB Type-C 2*M.2 slots Support for upto three monitors from integrated graphics B360 is good enough, because I don't think I will ever need RAID or SLI Chose RAM because: While 8GB would have been enough, 16GB dual channel seems good for the future Chose higher speed RAM although Intel does not feed on it because it's currently 5 dollars more expensive Chose SSD because: NVME is currently overkill, and normal SATA will do fine 500GB is decent for now, and can be upgraded later Chose case because: It generally sells for $10 less, making it a great buy It has dust magnets, 2*2.5" drive bays, an included blue LED fan, modular I/O, and a transparent panel Chose PSU because: Wanted at least 80+ Bronze, and at least semi-modularity from a reputable brand Chose OS because: Windows 10 Pro is a bad idea The full version is also useful, so that I can transfer it across motherboards Chose case fan because: Got recommendations for it Looks decent Good price/performance Chose monitor because: I had money to spare since my build itself looked solid, so I went with a 1440p panel I did not want a huge display, so that I could see everything at a time 60Hz refresh rate is not a concern Chose speaker because: Cheapest 2.1 channel speaker Chose webcam because: 1080p is a nice boost for video calling as compared to 720p Was inexpensive, and had good reviews on Amazon Chose microphone because: It was cheap, looked good and had decent reviews I am actively looking for replacements for this part because I have an extra headphone jack on my Marshall 2 headphones. Is there an attachable microphone that I can get that stays there and hangs on? What do you think of this build? Anything I should change?

Okay, so, I've always been interested in hardware. I've tore down old machines, watched a billion and one build guides, and even tried, and failed, to build a machine out of scraps from a bin. But finally, I am ready to construct my own machine out of new parts! This is not only a first build, but a budget build. I gave myself a budget of 400 dollars, and ended up blowing that budget by 200. Hopefully not in vain. All the parts have been ordered, and the last one shipped today, so come Friday, I will have all the parts and all weekend to build, though there *are* a few things I've been wondering about. Let's start with this: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/diogenesofindy/saved/BYxvVn This is everything I have ordered so far. I know I'm missing a GPU, but damn it, I just can't afford it. And I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but the prices are simply ridiculous, flat outrageous. Out of curiosity, I threw that build up on another tech forum, and they said it was a great budget build, but if they were to do anything, they'd get an I3 8100, and the mobo to fit it. Making it this: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/diogenesofindy/saved/v3wQVn Now, if I were to return the mobo and cpu, I'd save a good 20 bucks, and the benchmark for the 8100 is 36 points better, according to http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i3-8100-vs-Intel-Core-i3-6300/3942vs3536 At this point I should say, I am currently using an old as hell dell inspiron 530S. I haven't ever cracked open the case, but ik it's packing an Intel pentium E2200 (the benchmark comparison is pitiful http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Pentium-Dual-E2200-vs-Intel-Core-i3-6300/m1712vs3536 ) It's also got <4 gigs of, what I assume, DDR2 ram, though, like I said, I haven't opened it since I got it second hand. I'm running Linux Mint's Sarah on it atm. The fossil can't even run undertale or minecraft even in their lowest settings, and the fan sounds like a helicopter taking off. Needless to say, I really don't want to use it for much longer. I'm honestly afraid it'll catch fire. Basically, what I want to know is, is the performance boost between the two CPUs great enough for me to return the 6300 and mobo, wait for the refund, and then wait for the new parts? Or will is it so minor, I won't really notice it while I play MC and surf the interwebz? Whatcha think guise? Anyway, whether or not I decided to keep the parts already bought I will be sharing my experience with you all. This is my first post, so excuse any faux pas. And thanks!

I used to play witcher 3 at 40 FPS at almost High to Ultra settings at avg 35 fps on my GT 1030, at a temperature of 63C on an avg. Its been a month and today i noticed that the temprature is touching 70 but the framerate is same like before. On a website stress test results said that temp never exceeded 66 or 67. So whats wrong with mine. Should i get an extra fan, as my PC is working without any except the stock intel one on CPU and the inbuild GPU fan. Max thermal temps as provided by Nvidia are 97C. My specs: Intel G4560 Gigabyte Geforce GT 1030 8 gigs ddr4 Website link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gt-1030-2gb,5110-10.html Thanx in advance.

1. Budget & Location I'm in the US, and I need to keep the budget for the computer components in the $1100-$1200 range to also get a 1440p 144hz monitor, for a total of $1500 USD 2. Aim Gaming, Video editing, the computer also has to game well while also streaming. 3. Monitors I currently have 2 1080p 60hz monitors, I want to upgrade one of them for a 1440p 144hz monitor. I don't plan on using more than 2 monitors. 4. Peripherals I have all the peripherals I need other than the 1440p 144hz monitor, and Windows 10. 5. Why are you upgrading? My current Rig can't handle the workload I laid out above, especially not 2k gaming. 6. Other comments: Edited because I didn't think to just post the pc part picker list, sorry about that. I'd like to say thank you to all the helpful people who posted here with advice and answered my questions. I'll be using a Xeon processer, buying a new PSU, and getting the 750ti for a much better price thanks to your help. I'm building a new pc to make the switch from ps4 to pc master race with a few of my friends and need some advice on how to get a decent performing pc. Post summary- I need help figuring out what kind of cpu I can get for 30 usd to put into a gaming pc that will run decent until I get more money. Trying not to wait unless I absolutely have to. MOBO- I have an Asus mother board LGA 1156 socket that supports overclocking (Turbo Key) Asus P7H55 Desktop Motherboard H55 Socket LGA 1156 i3 i5 i7 DDR3 16G ATX UEFI BIOS GPU- I'm buying a used MSI 750ti 2gb GPU off of a friend for 100 usd, unless something better is suggested within that price range RAM- I'm stealing (6gb) 3 2gb ddr3 ram sticks out of an old pc I have, planning on upgrading to new 8gb/16gb sticks when possible Case- I picked up a basic DIY PC case that was on sale with 2 fans and ATX MOBO form factor PSU- Also stealing a 300w power supply from that same PC CPU- this is the main part that I need help with, I have a 30 usd CPU budget and I'm not sure how to go about buying one that will be capable of running games at, ideally 1080p stable 30/60fps (game depending) I also have a fan for whatever cpu I wind up with. There's a free geek about an hour away that I might try and go to but I'm not sure. Link to the old pc- https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01949155

I am going to be building my first desktop pc since my laptop has recently died, because I was ignorant to how all of this works, and overworked the hell out of my CPU to the point that I killed it. I am planning on building a Video Editing workstation, nothing too crazy though, just to make some short videos of my hobbies. Would I get better performance out of this or should I not worry too much about task specific hardware and just build a multipurpose workstation? I am sticking with a $1000 Budget and my build on PC PartPicker is around $965. Would I be wasting money on certain components where I should be optimizing? https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Gillecriosd/saved/ZxqgLk

So, I am in a really tight budget right now and stuck with a low-end laptop. I want to get a new PC for gaming and a friend of mine told me that he's willing to send me his old GTX1070 as long as I buy the rest of the components myself. I tried to shop for components but I decided to go with a pre-made Desktop because there's no way I could afford a decent custom build, my MAXIMUM budget is 400€ (About 497$), no way I can go beyond that. Another friend recently bought an entry-level PC from 2006 (I assume it's from 2006 because it has ATI Integrated Graphics) and simply blasted a GTX 1050 in it (The PC has an old quad core 3.0 GHz and it doesn't bottleneck apparently) and well, he's getting some good ass framerates even though the Motherboard is old and is still on PCI 2.0 / 4GB DDR3 RAM. So I thought, why not doing it too? He spent 400$ for that PC, but since I'll get a free GPU which is quite expensive, I found a PC that has slightly better specs than the one he bought, which is this: (Sorry for the German language, I had trouble finding one that ships in my country and Amazon.de was my only choice) https://www.amazon.de/dp/B076L3GKXF/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I6UCIP2B9DMAN&colid=3FR4VUG2UD3EZ&psc=0 My questions are: - Is the power supply enough to handle a 1070? - How do I know if I can open the case and that the BIOS didn't lock the PCI slots? (I heard some Desktops do that to prevent Warranty Void stuff) - I can't find information about it Online, but I suppose it has a motherboard with at least PCI 2.0, are there even Desktops without PCI slots? If not, I'll look for another. I already found a decent monitor, mouse and keyboard, all together will be 600$. My only concern is that the PC will give me some problems.

So I am having some trouble here deciding if I should pull the trigger on building my 1st PC. If I get it now my budget is $650. $650 Build Log - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2x6myf I am also hesitating due to the mining craze dying off and the potential that the 50%+ inflated prices on GPUs might go down. Also with Zen 2 coming out, the better Ryzen 7 or even 5 might plummet in price?? Also I plan on buying the GPU straight from manufacturer because a 1070 FE from Nvidia is $399 compared to Newegg's $460-$525 and even with rebates its still $40 over nvidia's price. If I were to wait till my birthday next year mid June, could we see prices drop? I would have more time to save up money. Birthday Build - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/33VPtJ **Not sure on GPU Length...neither PCPP or Nvidia's site said** Let me know what you think. Uses For PC: Gaming at 1080p 60fps *Not sure which monitor i will end up with by then so resolution is unknown* Games I plan on Playing: - H1Z1 - Rainbow Six Seige - Minecraft - CSGO - Overwatch - Warface - Black Ops 2 - All Call of Duty Modern Warfare Games - Similar Titles (Mainly Multiplayer Games) Additional Information: I do editing in After Effects and use lots of effects along with some 3D text work inside of Element 3D v2. My current PC will hardly run it and lags/crashes when using it. I want to make sure it can handle anything I throw at it in their. Rendering times are not an issue, I usually leave videos/edits rendering overnight anyways. Screen Recording Games at 60fps without stuttering or issues (preferably via FRAPS).

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Y37LzM Last night my parts came in (GTX 760, more ram) And the preformence jump is insane, I originally could not play For Honor at all, it hit like 40 fps with drops, now I can play on 1440p high settings no problem. Doom Runs Maxed Out, Rainbow six Seige runs at high settings 90fps, Fallout 4 runs high settings 60-70 fps. This is all on 1080p, I used to play 720p but Now I don't have to! I love PC Gaming So Much with all these cheap upgrades that make my PC last longer. I will be upgrading my CPU/MOBO/RAM next year. I can finally buy games like prey, Assassins Creed.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Y37LzM I am very happy, After a long time of waiting for deals and finding used parts, I am almost done with my building my gaming pc. Well, I am done and can use it as soon as my parts get here. I upgraded from 4gb ram to 8. And from a GTX 460 to a GTX 780. It is pretty much using all 600 watts since the 780 is power supply eater. But I am happy, I can play fallout 4 and Destiny 2 and every game I want. My Goal was a pc that can play games at 720p 60fps. The CPU/MOBO/HARDRIVE and 4gb of the ram where given to me free from a family member that got a free pc from his friend. What do you guys think? I can finally stop paying 60 bucks for PSN.

Following the idea from the video here: [Linus' video on 150 dollar budget gaming pc using server processors] you can apply a lot of it to streaming right? So, the ultimate goal of the build is to make a system that can use a server motherboard and Cheap Xeon Processors to be able to stream on OBS Studio at 720p 60fps and record at 1080p 60fps with no hiccups on a tight budget of 350 dollars (USD). [Monitor Price & Peripherals are going to be excluded in my build for now since someone kindly gave me their old STRIKE 7 & Razer Naga Hex. & I have an Asus Vp227h-p already.] Some of the challenges are some of the games I want to run to be able to stream both PC games & console games from something like a Razer Ripsaw down the line [I have a usb 2.0 Happague HDPVR I'll use for now but i'd like to upgrade to a usb 3.0 solution for better streaming to twitch later,] & That some of the titles I stream vary from a lot of different generations of games so optimizing them for streaming while keeping the computer under the very tight 350 budget is going to be hard. (From Dolphin Emulating SSBM Netplay To FTP games like Lol, Dota, TF2, To Newer Gen Titles like Overwatch, Dues Ex 2 Etc. [I'm okay with only being able to stream newer titles at say medium settings if I can have them be at 60fps, Twitch compresses video streaming down to 720p anyways.]) I'm not sure what direction to go for case, or CPU Cooling just yet. For Gpu I was heavily considering an Msi R9 280x 3gb Since there's one available near me for about 80 usd, but I'm not sure if it will even run on the platform, I consulted This thread by CUDA_Cores , but I didn't see any reports of a 280x inside under the r9 200 series. Here's what I have so far: Parts: 2 Intel® Xeon® Processor L5420 [25 usd] XW8600 DUAL SOCKET LGA771 SERVER MOTHERBOARD 480024-001 439241-002 439241-004 [40 usd] Possibly MSI Radeon R9 280X GAMING 3G Graphics Card - 3 GB GDDR5 - 384-bit - 1000 MHz [~80 usd] 16GB 4x4GB DDR2 FB Fully Buffered PC2-5300F 667 Mem HP xw8600 Workstation Ram [40 USD] That Leaves around 167 for Power Supply, SSD / Hard Drives, Case & Cpu Cooling.
