Hi! I’m an avid modeler and i love to create, but recently ive been wanting to take on a project that is a challenge, and is something im interested in. Ive been watching LMG content since NCIXTT and i love how Linus has built up. However like most of us, we only see what is in videos. So i would like to (if possible) get my hands on the floor plans, and some reference imaging of the LMG workplace so i can recreate this place for a game known as VRChat. Of course this may not happen because of 1 massive key factors and several others that may cause concern. First being is Security. And some other factors are time to collect such information, and the chance of an actual employee or Linus seeing this. But im posting this for the hell of it and i have my fingers crossed. Riley, Linus, ANYONE WITHIN LMG, please get in touch with me. I am obviously not looking for payment, but this is to challenge myself. If you do allow me to create this, i can also make the entire project personal to only you and i. Hoping to get something from staff reguarding this...

So I recently build my first custom build pc with the purpose of creatine a 3d model workstation. But now it keeps crashing every piece of modelling software I have. I thought it was maybe a memory problem but after running memtest86 i got no errors. My specs are: Cpu: Ryzen 9 3900x Gpu: MSI 2070s Gaming X trio Psu: Corsair RM750 Ram: G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600 Cas 16 Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite Ssd: Samsung 970 Evo The graphics card, chipset and lan drivers and Windows are all up to date. The UEFI is still how it came out of the box (F3) and the memory is running at his stock xmp profile. Can anyone please help me, it's making me so sad.

Hey, I'm a senior in high school and I am looking for a quality workstation laptop that can run programs such as Blender and 3D game engines such as Unity 3D or Unreal Engine. I need something that has a high tier processor and 16GB ram or more, preferably DDR4. I don't know laptops or even desktops very well which explains why I am making this post. Anything that can be used as a powerful workstation will be acceptable. I am looking for something under $1,000 which is low as it is, but if possible (which might not be) I'd like it closer to $600. Thank you all in advance for your help. Other Information - 1. Please note that I already have a powerful desktop computer. I specifically need a laptop for mobile use. 2. I live in the US, so base location and pricing off of that.

So much info out there...but no real answer for me as to what I need. What would you guys recommend for a build that can handle the following applications (comfortably).. Light Gaming: CSGO, Left for Dead, GTA, FIFA Moderate to Heavy Music Creation: Presonus, Cubase - Using an External USB Audio Interface - Multi-Tracking Live (8ch to 32ch of instruments & singers) Moderate to Heavy Graphic Design: Adobe Suite Moderate to Heavy 3D Logo Animation: Blender Moderate to Heavy Video Editing: Davinci Resolve (max 4k resolution - 10min final video length max) Would appreciate your budget, medium and high end recommendations. Thanks in advance!

I recently picked up an HP DL385 G1. It's got dual Opteron 285s, 4GB of ECC DDR 400MHz, and an FX5200. It's running Windows Server 2003 R2 32 bit. I am running blender 2.76. I was trying to compare performance to my main PC by rendering the fishy cat demo. I have tried making sure I have enough RAM, which seems to be the case, but yet it still crashes when building the BVH. The window just goes away with no error message. Hopefully you all can help.

Hypothetical question: What would render faster in blender cycles? -Four RTX 2080ti with Optix enabled -One Threadripper 3990x Some info: When rendering using optix, blender will actually raytrace on the RTX's hardware RT cores instead of pure software. On my RTX 2070 super, enabling this cut render times in half. Blender can make full use of multiple GPUs. Eg, four RTX 2080ti are four times faster than one RTX 2080ti The TR 3990x has 64 cores | 128 threads @ 2.9ghz base | 4.3ghz boost Lets say we have 3600mhz ram Tile sizes would be respectively 16x16 and 256x256

I am working on a new build for faster rendering and modeling. This is a full build! The budget is go stay under $2000 and I live in the US. The rig will be used for blender modeling and renderings, photoshop, illustrator and revit. The main software will be blender and revit. Any help with possible builds to take full advantage of my budget would be fantastic!

Hello, I am a student and I want a PC for 3D Modelling. My Budget is low, around 600€. First, I would like to ask what I should use for faster rendering on Blender (static images, not animations), CPU or GPU? Also, what is the best option for that workload? I waffle back and forth between the RX 560, GTX 1050 and the CPU portion of the Ryzen 5 2400G.

Hey guys, So I've been looking into 3D modelling and animation and as part of that I want to create some models/animations that I would then go on to use in a project like a game for example. The kind of animation I'm wanting to do is to animate for something that doesn't have a set constant. It's kinda hard to put directly into words so hopefully an example will better explain it. If I wanted to animate a character picking up a glass and I have multiple different sized glasses I want to have an animation that would stop as it grips the glass regardless of the diameter of the glass without clipping into it, or leaving a gap. Similar to if I made a character hug another character, I would like it to tighten the hug to the size of the person he's hugging and go no further. My question is, is there a name for this kind of animation or does it even exist and if so are there any good guides/tutorials for it Any help appreciated Thanks

I am a game design student, I use Maya for 3D work but I can't use my student edition for commercial work cuz Autodesk will sue me to my grave, so I had this retarded idea, if I make the model in Maya and use Blender to export it will I still be subject to scrutiny buy Autodesk lawyers. I was just curious about this, please don't leave an answer stating just learn blender cuz I am already doing that, college doesn't really like me doing that but I like being a rebel

Hey, I am building a pc for gaming rn. So I actually live in India where the prices are a bit high. I was thinking to buy the I5-8600k which is for 20800rs(255$) but the z370 motherboards in India are very expensive like the MSI sli plus which sells for around 154$ in USA but in India it is for 15500rs(217$) . Should I go for any i5 non k version (8th gen) and buy a cheap b360 or H370 mobile and save the 50$? Remember the prices of all the i5s (8th gen) are the same (230$-255$) and the mobos are for 150-180$(H370,B360). And yeah, would buying the k version for just overclocking justify spending the extra 50$ on the motherboard. I will be using it for gaming, light Editing and blender.(GPU-1070) Thank you.

Hello everyone, I am here to get some suggestions and help with my new PC, this will be my first Desktop PC. I plan on building this around Feb-Mar. I am in India and the prices on pcpartpicker are all from Amazon.in which at times are slightly inflated. My Budget is 300,000 INR which including taxes and everything for electronics equates to about 3000 USD and ofcourse if i can go lower i will. This includes everything from Peripherals to Monitor and OS as well. Here is the list of parts i have put together so far - PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz 8-Core Processor (₹29000.00 @ Amazon India) CPU Cooler: Corsair - H100i v2 70.69 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (₹9200.00 @ Amazon India) Motherboard: ASRock - X470 Taichi Ultimate ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory (₹14500.00 @ Amazon India) Storage: Samsung - 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive (₹15958.00 @ Amazon India) Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (₹5439.00 @ Amazon India) Video Card: MSI - GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB Video Card Case: Cooler Master - MasterCase H500P Mesh White ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (₹12754.00 @ Amazon India) Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit (₹8000.00 @ Amazon India) Monitor: Acer - XB271HU bmiprz 27.0" 2560x1440 165 Hz Monitor (₹49500.00 @ Amazon India) Keyboard: Corsair - K95 RGB PLATINUM Wired Gaming Keyboard (₹17267.00 @ Amazon India) Mouse: Logitech - G502 Proteus Spectrum Wired Optical Mouse (₹6456.00 @ Amazon India) Speakers: Creative Labs - GigaWorks T20 Series II 28 W 2ch Speakers (₹11655.00 @ Amazon India) Total: ₹179729.00 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-01-06 11:15 IST+0530 This build is primarily for 1440p Gaming, some Digital Art and 3D design and rendering mostly on Blender (may be more in future). I might do some light photo and video editing but not planning on Streaming or anything as of now. so i have a few concerns:- 1) Which CPU to go for 2700x or 9700K, so far i am leaning on Intel side. Although 2700x right now is cheaper ~ 30K INR and 9700k ~ 40K INR but at the end with MoBo and CPU Cooler (which ill probably get for AMD as well), there is only about 3-4K INR difference. 2) Kindly suggest a good motherboard as well for either of the options. I was looking at X470 Taichi ultimate (may be hard to get here) and Strix Z390-E. 3) CPU cooler as well. I think an AIO can give a cleaner look but it introduces more points of failure (does it fail that often?). An Air Cooler may work well, i was looking at Noctua but those colours.... 4) GPU - 2070 or 2080, 2070 i can get for around 50-60K INR and 2080 for 80-85K INR, doesnt seem like i should spend that much for a slight upgrade. 5) Monitor - for 1440p gaming looking at xb271hu ~ 50K INR, can go for 1440p 60Hz and spend the amount saved to get a 2080 instead. Not sure which route to go for. 6) Case - Looking for a decent case, NZXT H500 has a slightly better look but restricted airflow as far as i have heard and i hate that bottom PSU Shroud on the outside. Cooler Master H500P Mesh, Good airflow as far as i know but i just hate its design. Any other suggestions in a similar range. If there is anything else i could improve on this, Kindly let me know. Thanks and Regards Amit

Hey everyone, So recently I've been going out and getting new parts for my new PC and I was wondering if you guys think I ought to get the i7-8700k or the i7-9700k. My biggest concern is running simulations in platforms like blender. One of the biggest things to consider is that blender is terrible at running simulations (the platform heavily relies on CPU performance with no GPU acceleration). However, with blender 2.8 coming out (relatively) soon, we should also consider the likely chance that they will be revamp this system similar to how they've completely rebuilt every other aspect of Blender. Also there are addons for blender (such as Flip Fluids) which have some form of GPU acceleration but still heavily rely on the CPU. As for gaming performance, all that I'm really looking for is something that can easily handle 60 fps, which both can easily handle so I'm not at all worried about that. As for budget, I'm not too worried about cost but if there's not really much difference between the two chips then I'd rather go with the lower costing processor.

I am looking at getting a refurbished dell server to use as a render machine for my blender projects. The two choices that I am looking at is a dell R710 and R720. A R710 can start around 300 to 400, a R720 starts at 500 to 600 depending where you look. Is there that big of a difference between the compute power that justifies the major difference in price? The max I am looking to spend would be around 500 to 750 for this project. Any opinions or ideas are welcome.

Hi! before go on i apologize for my bad English and i thought that you should know that I'm a noob in blender XD. So I've been trying to model a character with its upper and lower torso separate. However they wont bridge together for some reason blender keeps saying select two edge loops. The other way that i found out was to make them a single object by ctrl+j then bridging them. However since I'm using a mirror modifier it splits the upper body if its selected first and splits the lower one if that one is selected first messing up the topology. Both sides that need to be merged have the same number of verticies. any idea on how i should fix this? again sorry for the bad English.

Hey guys! I'm back! ...but as usual, I have a question. I have an RTX 2080 and I was thinking about upgrading to the soon-to-be released RTX 3080. would itbe better to buy an RTX 2080ti and Nvlink it together with my current 2080, or should i get the 3080 and sell my current 2080? I've heard that Blender can run multi-gpu setups even without sli or Nvlink, but i also do a lot of gaming as well, and two 2080s (wait, how do you pluralize 2080 without talking about the super?) probably wouldn't do much as dual GPU setups aren't great for gaming (or so i heard). You guys think i should get the 3080, and if so, should I wait for newer models to come out? I'm a bit on edge when it comes to the 3080 because to me it seems just too good to be true. It's gonna sell out instantly and I honestly don't know when the next chance I'll get to grab one is (assuming thats my best bet.) I'll leave my specs below in case there's some other part i should upgrade instead. Thanks a ton in advance! Regarding the PSU, will a 550W be enough or should I go for a 650W? The one thing I cannot really decide is if I should go for an NVDIA RTX 2070S or AMD Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX 5700 XT 8G OC? I am sort of waiting for the prices to drop after the new releases in September.... What do you recommend? Thanks in advance.

cpu 3900x or Intel équivalent for 3d work.
aurelienthm posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hey, I am planning on building a new computer with around a 2k Budget (mainly for 3d work in blender and adobe suite). For the cpu I don't know if I should go for more cores or more single core performance. I don't really care about render performance because i will pair it with at least a 2080 but I'm more interested by viewport performance (modeling, animation...) Thx guys :)
