The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has instituted proceedings in the Federal Court in Melbourne against Apple for violating Australian consumer law. This comes after an investigation where Apple refuses to fix "error 53" which locks users out of their devices. This error comes about when an Apple device is repaired by a third party (such as replacing a cracked screen). An Apple support web page, titled ‘If you see error 53 or can’t update or restore your iPhone or iPad’, told consumers: “If the screen on your iPhone or iPad was replaced at an Apple Service Centre, Apple Store, or Apple Authorized Service Provider, contact Apple Support. “If the screen or any other part on your iPhone or iPad was replaced somewhere else, contact Apple Support about pricing information for out-of-warranty repairs.” This flies in the face of Australia consumer law. “Consumer guarantee rights under the Australian Consumer Law exist independently of any manufacturer’s warranty and are not extinguished simply because a consumer has goods repaired by a third party,“ ACCC Chairman Rod Sims said in a statement. This is not the first time that Apple has landed into trouble with the ACCC. Back in 2013, the ACCC forced apple to comply with Australian consumer law. The ACCC is seeking $1,100,00 per breach. My girlfriend that works in Singapore, asked my help and the only place I can think of getting some information is here. She asked me if I could find some mock tests(exams) for a Math test she will take to enroll a university in Australia. The test is called: UniLearn Senior Mathematics I tried to find it everywhere on the internet and got no success =( Promise to pay a beer for who helps when I go to Australia to visit her. Here is a picture of a fat cat. Not sure if real or not.

Hey there guys, I'm currently planning a new Z270 build, looking at spending around $4000 AUD for it. The issue I'm having, or more struggling to understand, is with the topic of PCIe lanes. I'm looking at building a system mainly for heavy CAD use and the occasional video gaming (3 x 1080p monitors). So my first choice of CPU is the 7700k, along with a Asus Maximus IX Hero motherboard and quite possibly the Nvidia 1080 ti graphics card (when it comes out). My problem is, I want to run my OS off an M.2 ssd mounted on the motherboard (Samsung 960 EVO), and then I was thinking of using another M.2 (the motherboard has 2 slots) for storage of my most used games and programs, just to get the maximum speed possible. I am struggling to understand whether this is even possible, or even worth it, from a perspective of PCIe lanes, and if so, how do you calculate this? I'm really curious as to how this is worked out, along with even if I can cram all this hardware onto this chip set, can I attach for example a PCI wireless card on top of all this? Basically I'm just looking for advice, can I stick with the build I'm looking at, or will I have to go for an AMD AM4 / Intel X99 chipset to achieve this? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I live in Australia and everything has been marked up. I'm reaching out to my fellow Aussies or anyone that knows of a safe reliable way to order from a US based store e.g. Amazon, and get it delivered to Australia. That way i don't have to pay the marked up price. thanks.

its kinda hard to get these things started, BUT i would love if people could really help this thing get off the ground and people make some noise about it, this is Mostly Australia Related, But hey if you aren't from Australia and You want to help make noise about this with me, please do, and if you are in the same boat i will bring a 6pack of coldies and make some noise with you too!. So as some people may know that Australia's internet is really poor, it averages about 9.6Mbps (1200Kbps) fastest i can get where i live is 4.5Mps (569 Kbps) ADSL2+ (which is "available" in Australia) theoretical/Capable speeds are about 20Mbps (2500Kbps) DL and 820Kbps (6.56Mbps) UL. Australia is ranked 50th in the world for internet speed, behind New Zealand which is 40th, as many of you would use Steam, this could help as well, Average download speed for Rural Australians would be very similar to mine which is of late been 280Kbps. maxing at 310Kps. Now our Government in all its crappy glory Believes our national network is fast enough, this would probably because Canberra is a city and they don't wonder outside to see that the country towns have completely garbage internet, in the town i live in, it has 1 Phone exchange that i know of, if you live with in 3Km's (1.8 Miles) you can have "ADSL2+", thou when i have used internet within this range i have notice it can often been half the speed offered. anyone who lives outside the range of 3Kms gets 5Mbps and below and a bit further out and you have to use satellite (which isn't that fast either here for some special reason). At the moment they are trying to implement NBN "National Broadband Network" thou it performs well under its advertised Specs (again Aus Government and Telstra lying to the masses like they love to do) while they have been doing this, my personal internet has had to suffer, and they aren't even working within 200Kms (124 Miles) of my location. starting last Yr in October and is expecting to go on till 2018. So yay they are trying to improve the internet, so why am i complaining. glad you asked. well the problem is, besides its underachieving speeds (in a perfect world it would move AUS from 50th World wide internet speeds to 30th), it still isn't going to help a LARGE amount of people, and they are still implementing it on a already flawed system, rather than installing more exchanged to handle more traffic, they are updating part of the line, but leaving the spine of the system the same old garbage thing, No fiber, still copper still overloaded and still out of range for alot of people. and even if you are lucky enough to get ADSL connection on the outskirts you still pay for full fat ADSL2+ prices. So to put the Big offender of bad internet shitty service of all kinds in the Crosshairs, Telstra offers a $80AUD ($61US) 500GB ADSL2+ Plan, its available where i live, but i wont get the speed of ADSL2+, still have to pay full price. and even if i could get ADSL2+ it still under perform. and its not uncommon for the internet lines to be interrupted or even at times for no reason (giving reason) the internet speed will drop down to 1.2Mbps. and can stay there for days on end. Yet Australia's Government (and Telstra behind it) believe that our internet is perfectly fast enough. do you believe paying for a service that you never receive at under 1/4 of its potential speed is "perfectly" fine and fast enough ? any thoughts please come talk about it.

Hey all, Been a long time coming but finally decided to join the forums after watching LTT for a while. Which begs the Question.... Any other Aussies on here? If so what do you play? Always keen for games with fellow Aussies. Thanks!

So. Some people know what the NBN is right? (National Broadband Network) Well. They use MTM (Multi Technology Mix) Which is made up of FTTP,FTTN, Hybrid Fibre Co-axial,Fixed Wireless and Satellite. ALSO Recently announced, Fibre to the Distribution Point. I don't have the NBN yet but I am apparently going to get HFC (Hybrid Fibre Co-axial) within the 2nd half of this Year. the NBN have announced DOCSIS 3.1 being released around June on the HFC network. Potentially making it up to 1GBPS speed capable. Although with all these recent complaints about how S**t the NBN is and how slower it is than what they ordered. I don't think If I'll get it. I may as well get Cable with Optus Which makes you pay up $80 for 30mbps down and 2mbps up. (Or 100mbps down and 2 mbps up for about $90-$100) Back when Labor was in charge they promised an ALL Fibre network. Then the Coalition (Liberal) came along and Stuffed it up by introducing MTM. Labor's plan would've costed in between: 44 Billion and 73 billion Dollars (AU) and Malcolm Turnbull said his plan would cost $29.5 billion then it rose to $41 billion, and then last year to "up to" $56 billion. Please correct me if I have forgotten anything critical here. Thought I'd just bring up a conversational topic. Thanks for readin'

What are some good stores that sell Chinese phones in Australia. I'm using a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 that I bought from BuyMobile. Great phone, good price, but I won't ever but from BuyMobile again. They loaded the phone with adware that took me days to remove, and there are still traces of shit in the phone. Any suggestions on decent places to buy from (that don't load phones with adware/bloatware)?

I want to build a pc in Australia for around $1500 - $1700 AU. I was wandering what your guys thoughts were on my possible build. I play Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, Battlefield 1, Battlefield Hardline, Battlefield 4 and Grand Threft Auto V. I was thinking about getting a gtx 1070 because games are now at recommending a gtx 1060 6GB and I want this computer to be future proof. If you don't think this is a good build could you please tell me what would be? I was also wandering if it was worth me getting an ssd/m.2 or if it was worth getting a sli motherboard. Good afternoon all! It's amazing how far along the forum has come over the years, I'm looking forward to getting back into the discussions! My question to the forum is about a venture I want to dive into but I need some advice before I get the ball rolling. I'm not sure if everyone remembers this video. When I first saw this video I was in love with the concept, we don't have anything like it in Melbourne. I've wanted to start a cafe for a while and I've finally started doing thorough research into it's viability, I have a friend who is an amazing chef with a great deal of experience in the industry. I want to combine my love of technology/gaming culture with my obsession over simple, tasty food. I want to start out small and use the main lounge as an area for consumption and socialising with a small room designed to be hired out with items like projectors and consoles, slowly expanding as funds allow. Am I crazy? I'm not in it for profit, aslong as I can pay the bills and have some funds left over for the holiday savings. It would be great if some Australians shared their insight but any contribution would be greatly appreciated. Take care everyone, hope everyone is enjoying their year so far! Ryan

Hi, I just arrived in Melbourne all the way from Mexico. I'll be staying here for about 5 years to study Automotive Engineering at RMIT, but the thing is that I don't know anyone here, and I've been kind of lonely for the last couple of days. So... anyone want to hang out?

Building a new rig to replace my Metabox (Clevo) gaming laptop from 2011. I started off working on specs to run the HTC Vive nicely and keep me gaming at max settings on regular games for a good number of years to come. Then I got attracted to all the glowy lighting options and glass sided cases and ended up throwing an extra AUD$500 into making it look pretty. Parts were delivered yesterday, but I wasn't home to receive them, so I'm picking them up from the post office today. Won't have time to start building it until Sunday anyway though. Until then, I'm still trying to decide on fan and radiator configuration and placement within that case, so if anyone has advice on that aspect, feel free to jump in. Case comes with two 140mm fans (1 in front and 1 in back). Cooler comes with two 140mm fans for the radiator. Thinking of installing them on top of the radiator to pull air up through it and out the top of the case, but I'm open to having the radiator in the front instead if I need to for space or aesthetic reasons. Mobo and GPU both have ASUS Aura RGB lighting, so I was thinking I'd put the three 120mm Corsair RGB fans in the front of the case to give an even spread of lighting, or alternatively, put one of them at the back and only one or two of them at the front. I wonder if I can fit two 120mm and one 140mm fan into the front?

I know i've seen 2 or 3 posts similar to this but oh well... Comparing prices to buy my first ever smart phone (yes. get excited) Upgrading from this: Looking at Australian retail, the Axon 7 launches in Aus next week for $600 at launch. This is comprable to the One Plus 3, which makes sense. Choose what you want to focus on, either sound or ram. pay the same price. Linus said similar in his Axon review. Then, pixel launches, and everyone talks awesome about it. I am about to click buy on the ZTE and decide to check out the other team. The pixel xl sports almost idential hardware to the Axon 7 (according to GSMArena), but retails in australia through JB Hi Fi for a whopping $1400!!! What the actual and absolute heck! iPhone 7 is $1200, so i could get a really good bluetooth headphones TOO for that cost! The specs between the axon 7 and pixel xl are really similar. Both are 1440p amoled displays. both are 4gb rams. Both have good cameras (I expect the pixel to have better software and autofocus, but the zte is f1.8 compared to f2.0) The pixel really delivers through on the camera (trumpeting the "best smartphone camera ever", apparently a weekly prize), while the zte is the only phone since the HTC One m8 to do really good sound, and has "broken the sound test" of some reviewers by being that loud and good! I'd rather go for the sound anyway, and this is the ONLY phone doing anything about it. Meanwhile, every single phone now has a very good camera, so i can forego an outstanding camera. The zte is a snapdragon 820. The pixel is an 821, which by Qualcom's own materal is practically an identical chip, instead "building upon" the 820 and only really improves on "VR performance", which we all know is rubbish on mobile anyway. So i know that because the pixel is a first party google phone, the software will be great. And that's what they want you to think. But how polished can something really get?? Google has always subsidised their first party phones, and they're practically the largest company on the planet now. Seriously, what gives??? What can make a phone cost $1400??? Apple is the benchmark for overkill price, and they're $200 cheaper!! The zte is the same hardware, maybe better, with less great software, for 40% of the cost. Please enlighten me!!

Dear lord. Wifi here is terrible. The lowest I've recorded is something akin to 30 kb/s whereas my iPhone gets something like 40-80 mb/s. I have to start this topic so the rest of the poor souls in my situation have somewhere to be sad that won't annoy the rest of the people with 'good' internet. I don't even know what that term means... 'Good Internet'... The one thing I've discovered to work is running everything from an iPhone but because that would probably rack up costs insanely fast... Ergo, we need a solution until we get blessed by the lords of fibre optics. That said: If someone can throw down some knowledge or a suggestion to keep us sane until we can join any sort of anything online quickly, you'll be eternally appreciated. -Dandy

Android Pay and Apple Pay has been operating in Australia for a couple months now, and here is my thoughts on using the services. For the past couple of months, I have been using Android Pay since I own an OPPO Find 7 which is NFC enabled; I don't own an iPhone however, it is generally the same concept. Banks: Android Pay supports ANZ (Australian New Zealand Banking Group) - the 4th biggest bank in Australia, American Express and a handful of smaller financial institutions, and credit unions with support for Westpac coming soon. Apple Pay on the other hand supports ANZ and American Express. **At the moment, Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), Westpac and National Bank of Australia (NAB) - the other 3 biggest banks in Australia - launched a cartel to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) for not giving access to the NFC access on the iPhone, which would enable contactless payments to be made through their own digital wallets. Reason is that the banks do not want to forfeit the millions of dollars per year they would have earned from Apple Pay through interchange fees. A draft decision on the case will be made in October 2016. APPLE PAY: ANDROID PAY: Stores: Unlike the other countries, where it is a hit or miss adventure trying to figure out what store accepts Apple or Android Pay, around 90% of stores in Australia accepts 'tap and go' technology. According to ANZ, before to Android and Apple Pay, around 60% of their customers uses tap and go technology on their cards, and Australia is one of the first countries to use this kind of technologies. This means, that if you are buying groceries from Coles or Woolworths, buying food from Macca's (McDonald's, KFC, Subway, Red Rooster, Hungry Jacks, Nandos, or other resturant, buying office supplies from Officeworks, buying stuff from department stores such as Target, Big W, Kmart, Myer or David Jones, buying electronics and phones from Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, filling up your car at the service station at Woolworths Caltex or Coles Shell or purchasing phones or recharge credit from Telstra, Optus or Vodafone, you will be assured that Apple Pay or Android Pay will definitely work, 100% of the time, with no issues. All the stores that I have visited supported Apple Pay or Android Pay with no problems, and the payment goes through with no issues and no hassles. And the list above is all the major stores and eateries in Australia. Many medium and smaller stores also accepts these types of mobile payments - with the smaller stores, just make sure if they have tap and go enabled terminal so you can use Apple or Android Pay. Devices: Apple Pay is supported on iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, SE, 7 and 7 Plus, running on the latest version of iOS. Android Pay is supported on any NFC Phone, running Android 4.4 or above, and the device is NOT rooted. Final Thoughts: There is a lot of promise for the two mobile payment systems, and within Australia, payments has become easier and quicker - no need for finding your credit or debit card in your wallet blackhole. Hopefully in the near future, both mobile payment systems will add support for transport system, replacing gocard for Brisbane and surrounds, Opal Card for Sydney or Minki Cards for Melbourne where it is only a tap and go on your phone, no need digging around finding the card. My experience with it so far is excellent as it provides a safe and secure way of purchasing goods and services. If you have any questions, or need clarification, comment below

Hello everybody! I recently found out that I will be moving to Wagga Wagga from Sydney and I was given the job to find decent internet plans for a cheap price. One of the plans that I found was $80/month for a landline telephone and unlimited internet data on the NBN (National Broadband Network). Investigating more, I found that the speed was NBN Basic which is about 1.2MB/s Down and 500KB/s up. Would I see any benefits from going with the NBN plan such as more consistent speeds and lower ping or should I just pay the same price for cable with 3MB/s down and 1MB/s up? Thanks!

I was wondering if I should go for an EVGA GTX 780ti classified for my first budget gaming build. I got a deal for a barely used one from my friend's techy friend for about AU$200. Also what does "classified" mean?
