If anyone can help, I got an iPod nano 7th gen from eBay, and I thought It needed a new battery but it did power on but none the tuch would not work the sleep wake would not work as well as the volume up or down. So my question is can the ribbon cable that is in the red be removed and repalce if yes how. Now for the 2nd part the one in yellow the back cable brokeoff the top part of the tab and I am unable to remove it from the Connect to on the board as it's stuck in there is there any way to remove it. The the yellow has So much water on it that it looked corroded. Thay when I wend to pull it up it just Ripped off with it out the Connect to bean removed. I have already posted this on ifixit as well.

Hey so I'm wanting to get an iPad or tablet under or around $1000 NZD(around $580 USD) for Uni/Poly-tech and wanted some advice on what to get, I'm doing a musical theater course and also play in my church Worship Team and wanted to use an iPad or tablet to read and annotate scripts and sheet music, also would be nice to connect an external monitor and audio interface(at the same time) to record audio if possible but not essential. I was thinking of getting the base model 10th gen iPad(64GB No Cellular) with apple pencil and zagg Messenger Folio 2, I don't need Cellular or lots of storage as I have a nas, would this be good for my needs or is there something else that would be better? Could you also suggest cheaps/budget folio keyboard case? I also currently don't own any apple products if that helps. Any advice would be much appreciated.

How long does it take to backup 1,5 TB of data to iCloud Drive?

How long would it take to backup 1,5 TB of data to iCloud Drive with an internet upload speed of 50 Mbit/s? I live in Sweden. No, I don’t want a NAS. -
Hey Guys, I am using an iPad Mini 6th Gen for my helicopter training. It works good for me but especially during the summer in the pretty warm cockpit the iPad often goes into the Overheat mode. There are special aviation cases with cooling but they are really bulky and really expensive, so my question is: Is there someone out there who had similar issues with the iPad Mini or maybe someone with a FLIR cam that could show me the typical hotspots so I can try to DIY some heatsinks or something over the area to get rid of those problems? i know pretty edge topic but I believe in the community having already solved this :) Any help is much appreciated

Is there someone else that can't update their iOS right now? Me and my family has been trying all day on our iPhones but we get an error message saying that the servers can't be contacted and a "Try again" button. Anyone else having the same issue? Does Apple have servers in Sweden so can it be local to Sweden? iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone XR.

Today I bought the Apple Lightning to Digital AV HDMI Adapter (the original one for 700 SEK (70 USD)). It worked with my iPhone 12 Pro Max for the first hour, but when I disconnected it and later tried to re-connect it it wont detect it no matter what. I've tried...: Disconnecting and reconnecting the adapter multiple times. - DIDN'T WORK. Swap out the HDMI cable. - DIDN'T WORK. Connect it to multiple different monitors. - DIDN'T WORK Connect it to an iPhone 13 Pro and an iPhone XR. - WORKED! The lightning port on my iPhone 12 Pro Max is fine, it can receive power with no problem and output sound to headphones when using wired Lightning EarPods. There's nothing stuck inside the lightning port. I've tried disconnecting the iPhone 13 Pro and an iPhone XR multiple times but they seem to work every time (they're my mom's and dad's so I can't test them for multiple hours since they're not my phones). iPhone 12 Pro Max is running iOS 16.6, iPhone 13 Pro is also iOS 16.6 and the XR is running iOS 16.5.1.

How do I submit iOS bug reports to Apple? They hade their Feedback Assistant app, but it requires you to join the beta/developer programme. Is there really no way to report bugs for a publicly major iOS release without enrolling in these?

One thing that bugs me about the Apple’s HopePod and HomePod Mini is that we get locked into what Apple considers a good speaker. Don’t get me wrong, as someone who’s owned all three generations of HomePods they do sound great for what they are. A while back I saw the tear down by IFIXIT about the Mini and it got me thinking. Apple, surprisingly, didn’t use a proprietary connector for the speaker, nor did they solder it directly to the PCB. Apple used screws! This made me think, can I connect the Mini to any speaker I want? The answer is yes. Yes I can. Fast forward to today and I decided to see what makes the Mini tick for myself. It’s surprising simple on the inside. Other than the weird fabric cover it was easy to take apart AND put back together. I forgot to take pictures as I was working on this little project but I did take some after shots and the guide by IFIXIT does a great job at explaining things. After removing the original speaker I used my trusty soldering iron to take the funky little terminals that Apple used and slapped them on some normal speaker wire. From there I removed a few of Apple’s little sound slots near the power cord to run the speaker wire through, a corresponding hole in the mesh, slapped it all back together, and hey presto I had a HomePod Mini that I could connect to any speaker I like. I know that there are AirPlay 2 adapters out there and I could use an AirPort Express (I’m already running several of those around the house) but I wanted to have the smart features. Being able to use my voice is convenient and it works seamlessly with the other HomePods I have. If you can’t tell by now I’m a wh**e for Apple. (I do have a gaming PC though) The Mini seems to have more than enough to power the speakers I’ve thrown at it. I’m labeling this as revision #1, I plan on changing some things in future versions. Some of the things I have in mind are: Finding a location to run the wires out of that allows the Mini to sit without needing a stand Figure out how to get both layers of fabric put back into place Maybe install some type of terminal instead of hardwiring EQ board??? Built in battery I should also make it clear that I am not a sound engineer. I am a manufacturing engineer. If you’ve made it to the bottom of this without jumping to the comments then I appreciate you. I know there is a lot that I did wrong here, I do not have the equipment or knowledge to do this “right”. As such, here are some other things that I am aware of: No clue what the built in amp can safely handle No clue if Apple has any safety features built in No sure what the ohm rating of the speaker that Apple used is I’ve glanced around the World Wide Web and haven’t found anyone else doing this but if anyone knows of a similar mod I’d love to know about it. Let me know if you think this is stupid or if Apple should create a smart speaker amp.

The only way I can make my Macbook Pro work with my Thunderbolt 4 dock + KVM switch is if I plug the dock directly to a 1440p monitor. Otherwise, it's just a black screen. Any ideas what's up, and how can I fix it? Even the mouse/keyboard isn't working. Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 dock HDMI KVM switch

Apple’s M2 Ultra powered Mac Pro is the final step in their Apple Silicon transition. But without GPU support or meaningful expansion, is it worth nearly double the price of a comparable Mac Studio?

In his video about hot takes, he claimed that no mouse other than the Magic Mouse scrolls smoothly when connected to Apple devices ,(please watch the video between 06:12 and 10:04), because of Apple woo-woo. Has this claim ever been tested independently, by LTT or anyone else? If his claim was true, some ambulance chaser somewhere would have put together a consortium of $2-to-$250 mouse manufacturers to sue the fruit company. I look forward to everyone's insights, and maybe LTT Labs will look into making a "non-Apple mouse on Apple devices video.

Since the EU is gonna force apple to use replaceable batteries, are they gonna raise the price for EU? Will they find some excuse to raise the price globally? I bet that if they do the replaceable batteries that it will only work with Apple batteries costing 3 to 4 times more then they should be ''because they are Apple certified safe''. It annoys me that these practices aren't even far fetched, what has the industry come to... This is all speculative but what do you guys think about this? will we again just let them be or will there this time be some sort of backlash? I rather doubt the backlash...

is there a way to make apple health to sync data from google fit? I was able to get google fit to sync with apple health app but not the other way around. I use the apple health app primarily since I have a apple watch, but I can only use the google fit app with my schwinn 810 treadmill. I can't get the apple health app to connect to the treadmill and my watch won't count the steps since my hands are on the rails.

It has finally happened. We all knew it would happen, we just didn’t expect it to happen so fast. Although, $4T is beginning to not look as easy as maybe $3T was. Slumping iPhone sales, Vision Pro being a large investment in a competitive industry, but I believe that Apple will do it one day. It may take a few years, but they’ve done it before.

I own a Fitbit, but am considering an Apple Watch Series 7 because of Fitbit’s problem with bugs and their tendency to hide more and more features behind a paywall (subscription). Fitbit has amazing automatic sleep tracking, which is great since I have very varying sleep routines, but what about the Apple Watch? Can anyone that with experience of the Apple Watch explain: If it has any automatic sleep tracking at all, or is it strictly tied to the manual schedule that you specify? Is it good for anyone with very varying sleep routines? How’s the quality of the sleep tracking? Are you forced to use the “Sleep” focus mode in order for it to register your sleep?

Apple Watch - Spotify offline with Bluetooth headphones
creat0r posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
Here in Sweden, my mobile operator doesn’t support eSIM. Because of this I only bought the non-cellular version of the Apple Watch Series 7. If I want to go running without my phone, can I download songs from Spotify offline on the Apple Watch and listen via Bluetooth headphones?- 2 replies

Hi, so I have a question the audio encoder with hbo max has been horribly integrated into my AppleTV. Idk how to fix it but as an example I’m trying to watch Harry Potter, and I can barely hear the bloody audio. I don’t want to max volume the entire movie because some parts are louder, and well I’m kind of at a loss. It’s this way but the opposite for Amazon prime.

Dear Floatplane team, I would love if you would enable subscriptions through App Store on iOS. Yes, I understand that you would have to add 30% on top of your regular price to compensate for Apple’s cut, but that’s okay. Here in Sweden they’ve changed the laws/rules so that nowadays my payment card expires every year instead of every fourth year. When you have a busy life and have 20+ subscriptions, running around and updating the card everywhere is not reasonable. Having all subscriptions through App Store therefore provides a peach of mind and a less stressful life. Giving users more payment options is (probably) always a good thing. Thank you for reading my suggestion, I appreciate you and look forward to future Floatplane updates. Best Regards, Filip

I’ve been a Fitbit user for a couple of years, but I’m very tired of the insane amount of bugs on the watch itself. Since I’m an iPhone user I’m considering the Apple Watch 7. On Fitbit there’s a lot of features in the app that require that you pay a subscription fee, is there any features in the Apple Watch-/Health-app that requires a subscription fee?

This is going to be a more complicated question than the title might make it seem. I work for a company that refurbishes and sells used Apple products and we've run into a confusing issue when it comes to the condition of the batteries in a recent batch of 2017 MacBook Pros. The problem devices have batteries with anywhere from 50% to 80% of their maximum capacity and they're all well under Apple's cycle lifespan of 1000 cycles, but macOS reports the battery condition as "Service Recommended." The majority of this SKU has similar health and macOS says the battery condition is normal for them. I've looked at the AppleSmartBattery reports for devices of the same SKU with similar max capacity and similar cycles that don't say service recommended and when compared to the problem devices there are no red flags indicating what macOS is looking at to determine the condition. To be clear, we're no strangers to battery replacements. Devices with bad batteries get replacements, but these ones are a special case since they appear healthy. What I've been able to find on google has not been very helpful so I thought I'd try here. Does anyone with MacBook repair experience have any insight into what might be causing macOS to detect a battery issue where no obvious issues can be found?

I looked around for a bit on this forum and didn't see this video posted anywhere, and if it has been, my apologies. Just came across a YouTube video of someone who managed to decipher the inner workings of the T- and M-series Mac/MacBook SSD setups, and as it turns out, the internal SSDs CAN be swapped and even upgraded! As the channel discusses in the video, T1 MacBooks can have their SSD and SSD Controller removed, and a part (which the channel manufactures, for disclosure) can be soldered in place to link up the PCIe slot the SSD controller would take to a normal M.2 slot for mounting any readily-available consumer storage. Pretty neat! But, and in more interesting details, what the channel actually outlines is how the storage on the MacBooks/Macs with the T2 chip, and the later the M1 (not dissimilar in implementation), can be upgraded, and while it's not easy by any means, it is possible. Apple employs a (presumable) RAID 0 configuration among 2-8 flash chips attached to the T2 or M1 that are individually given unique proprietary firmware to determine how and if they will work together, and be physically seated on the motherboard. With a flash tool and enough SSD donors of matching models, and provided the machine has the physical mounting pads available for the chips (as it turns out, they are enabled dynamically depending on how they are configured at the factory, which the video goes into more detail about), the SSDs can be replaced or even upgraded. Obviously this wouldn't be a job for the average user, and would require a professional board repair specialist or enthusiast soldering hardware, but could save many Macs and MacBooks from the dumpster after storage failure and perhaps offer a storage upgrade if that's a cost worth stomaching. And, which I think is the most important part of all of this, it proves that storage modifications to these devices ARE NOT impossible, which puts Linus' own Mac storage upgrade attempts out of date, to the extent that it was suggested to be outright impossible. For what that's worth, I definitely think this makes a great future re-visit for LTT to tackle in the future, if not on the user-accessible storage models like the Mac and Mac Studio, then for the Labs with more intensive soldering equipment Regardless of the facts, the ways that Apple is going about this is obviously not good for consumers or repair as a whole. While the technology behind this is intriguing and inventive, and it's encouraging that it is possible, the fact that it's gotten to this point at all is a mess for everyone but Apple themselves. DEFINITELY check out the YouTube video, they worked for 6 MONTHS on this video and bought much of the hardware necessary to test this all themselves! It is an incredibly interesting watch and is 100% worth supporting.

I am esthetic about the new MacBook Air, It kind of sucks though I am being forced to custom order the bloody thing. I need the 16GB ram upgrade though, I thought of doing the 24GB upgrade but with it being Unix based. I am confident it will perform well without issue considering my use cases. Which will be mainly using the browser, and a few apps. The main reason, I am getting a Mac though is the accessibility features which in my opinion outrank anyone. Super excited to watch the video reviewing it, I hope it's released soon!

Using MacBook Air m1 and notice there is gap between lid and base of MacBook m1 . Already this is my 2nd replacement unit and still there is same gap issue. What should I do and is it normal for all MacBook users. IMG_1793.mov

Hi all-- For my sister's birthday I want to get her a new pair of AirPods. Her's stopped working and they are the original AirPods. I wanted to get her the third gens but I was reading online that people have been having problems with the fit of them. I am currently between the AirPods 2 and 3. If anyone has any input on which way I should go I would appreciate it
