I received a brand new GoPro Hero 6 Black for my birthday from my father, I am seriously considering saving up for a new 4k gaming/workstation system so I can utilize 4k footage from my GoPro. But I also wan't to game at 4k very badly as well. So my two questions are, which monitor and which graphics card? With my budget are there any other options that would be cheaper and or better? If you can save me money by your suggestions that would be great as well. 1. Budget & Location Ryzen 1800x Asus VI Hero 16GB RAM Graphics Card? Budget: 2000 2. Aim 4k footage rendering, 4k photo manipulation, 4k gaming, AAA titles. 3. Monitors I plan to run one 4k monitor, I would like it to be 140Hz. 4. Peripherals Don't worry about this. 5. Why are you upgrading? Received 4k camera, want to utilize it very badly.

Okay I know Motley Fool is not a tech news site but they do follow financials a lot and have been for years. The biggest thing is they only report on technology when it will impact the bottom line and this article about the Skylake processors will certainty do this if it is rumored to be true. First is some facts, new 14mm design process should give the xeons better performance. Next is this should drive more sales for Intel as the business side of processors is where they make money to do more enthusiasts grade stuff like the i7s and i5s. The biggest thing is they need to have chips that in the next year or two that can take on AMD's new architecture if they are going to survive losing a chunk of the personal home market when AMD comes out with Zen. Intel needs cashflow and the only way to do so is by reducing power consumption or increase performance which should reduce the need for as many processors for servers. That in turn can drive sales as people go to replace their processors. The rumor might be is moving off the 2011v3 chipset and if that is the case then that can drive even more sales for them. 2011v3 has been around for several xeon chips so they could move forward with a larger pinout and hopefully increase the PCIE bandwidth and possible start looking at the new PCIEv4 that is due to come out before the next decade as the need for high speed storage is increasing at a very high rate. The PCIE storage cards are running at 8x right now and with just one xeon you can run at most 5 of those cards which gives you without any RAID at most 20TB of storage. The issue is that when you start looking at RAID with those cards you have have the issue of that fact the card itself is already in a RAID 0 configuration. So you will have is a RAID 5 of a RAID 0 set of 5 cards or RAID 6. In any case if they can squeeze out another x8 of PCIE you can get a 20TB of RAID 5 or 16TB of RAID 6 with one processor. In anycase it should be interesting next spring when these Skylake processors are rumored to come out.

Hello, I am going to get the Dell XPS 15 as a laptop for University, however I do not know whether to get it now, or wait for a new one, as it's been out for almost a year now. I will definitely be getting it by Christmas this year whatever happens, so does anyone have any idea if there will be a new one released in the coming months and whether it would be worth the wait or should i just get it now?
