Hello everyone! I am currently in the market for a 21.9 1080p IPS monitor with DisplayPort, when I came across the LG 25UM55-P. I currently have an HP 2310m, which is a 3 ms monitor, and I'm wondering if I will be able to see the difference. I'm going to mainly be playing League of Legends, GTA V, and Witcher 3 when it comes out. not sure if relevent but I have a GTX 980

Hi all, I have a friend who is in urgent need for a new laptop as his old laptop is having some sort of battery issue and he decided its time for an upgrade. He needs a laptop for web surfing and watching videos and his budget is $650 (please consider 5% tax as we are currently located in Calgary, Alberta- Canada). He is looking for a laptop that is above 14" for the screen size, 500 gb Hard drive. I was suggesting him to go for either an i3 to meet him needs and to go for an i5 if he can find one in his budget (sorry I'm an Intel supporter, but if you guys have any AMD laptops, I'll definitely pass the message on to him and he could look at it). I also advised him to go for 4-6gb of ram as he won't need more than that for what he plans on doing. Please guys post your laptop recommendations here and I'll let him look. By the way, we are planning on visiting Bestbuy and Memory Express on Saturday June 6, so if you could give us recommendations before then that would be awesome! Thank You guys in advance! 4321Rocket

Hey Linustechtips community! I've been recently looking for laptops, simply because I want to get one soon. I am a content creator, travel a lot and I require a device which is powerful and flexible. I also go to uni, which makes the use of a convertible ideal. Is there an adequate 2-in-1 (or 4-in-1) device which can make me happy? I've been looking around a lot. In most of these kind of devices their systems look really beautiful and well designed, but the hardware is pretty floppy still. Intel Core M's (with 1,1 ghz) and sometimes even i7's and i5's were present (Ultrabook builds), but they lack a discrete graphics-card. There is currently one 2-in1 device I know which has a NVIDIA GT 840 / 940 (embedded) inside, and this is the Lenovo Yoga 2 / 3 (2 has the 840, 3 the 940). Link to the Lenovo Yoga 3 14" with a NVIDIA. So, what are your thoughts on this? Will it be possible to get a convertible with a lot of power in 2015? I am aware that the market for convertibles is not really the same one for gamers / small-scale content creators, but technically, I believe it is currently possible to fit the necessary hardware for good performance. As the title says, I don't know if you can class it as news, but Rockstar has released more screenshots of GTA V for PC, and I have to say, they look pretty damn amazing, either that or I can not wait for the PC release, maybe a bit of both. One thing I will ask, Are Linus and Luke going to do a benchmark of the game? I just really hope the game is well ported/re-coded, please. EDIT: Something I just remembered, this with ICEnhancer will look gorgeous. Unsure if GE40 can, need to check Not too concerned with battery life SSD (at least for OS) required Budget is around AUD$1500. Would love some opinions/discussion/options. Just wondering how a manufacture like nvidia goes about shrinking the process. I know we have been on the 28 nm process for quite a while, however we keep going on about how intel and now IBM are getting under the 10 nm process. Is this something that will change in the next series of gpu's? -
As title says, I am currently looking for a 14"-15" gaming laptop. As I am not well versed in the laptop area, I am asking you guys for help (obviously.) I can wait several months, but preferably get one before the 4th quarter this year. What i am looking for. CPU: i5 or i7 GPU: GTX 770m or above RAM: 6GB or above HDD: SSD or SSD+HDD combo, at least 500GB (Total) Screen Size: 14" to 15,6" Screen Resolution: 1080p or above Keyboard Backlighting: Preferred but not needed. Weight: Preferably "light" but don't mind a bit on the heavy side. Batterly Life: Prefer 6 hours, won't go below 4 hours. Heat: Want moderate cooling, don't want a furnace on my lap (like the Razer Blade 14) Localization: Denmark (EU), Xotic and such don't provide international keyboard layout, I must have Danish, Norwegian or Nordic ISO. I've done a bit of searching and saw that the Razer Blade 14 had great battery life, but had a terrible screen and heating issues. As for hardware it was "ok" compared to an Alienware 14. Since I only know about those laptops. I am asking your input on different brands. I know MSI and ASUS are coming with something new, but no idea exactly what specs they have. Thanks.

I think that since EA is becoming worse, EA didn't want themselves to go bankrupt so they created this agreement to hope that the FIFA games will help them maintain their company. Hey, I've recently purchased the new razer blade and it's getting a little too hot for my liking. what would you guys recommend as the best form of external cooling? i know most of them are cheap rubbish, but i'm wondering if anyone happened to come across a fan pad or something that would be good for the blade, given that the air intake is underneath the laptop. (seriously, why don't they learn from that?) I'm fine with it being a usb connection, but considering that it will be permanantly chilling at my work station and the blade only has 3 USB ports, i'd rather something with an A/C power adapter. P.s i live in Australia. Thanks heaps.

Hi guys! I'm really close to buying this awesome laptop. Now. I have experience with a 13 inch Mac (it's what I am using now to write this), but I am worried 14 inches won't be big enough.... My main intention is to do gaming as I can't take my desktop computer with me everywhere. Will this be big enough for that experience? Because I would really not want to spend the extra money on the 17 inch screen if I don't need it. Thanks!

Well, well, well AMD you did it, I've turned my back on Nvidia and peering into the endless possibilities AMD is going to through our way, with high performance affordable graphics cards. What are they planning? What's the Expected price range for the 290X? Have you been turned to AMD as well? Considering they're throwing a $299 dollar card with a Fire Strike score of 7000 (or something)AMD is really pushing the boundaries of where the PC gaming industry is leading. Please share you're opinions on all things GPU' 14! Thanks! And yes I am to the forums so hi!

UPDATE: I have replaced the case with a corsair air 540 and added a 500 gb. external drive. Parts Cpu: Amd 8350 @ 4.00 Ghz Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 120M (liquid cpu cooler). Motherboard: Msi 970A-g46 Am3+ ATX Amd Ram: 8 gigs Kingston hyper-x 1333 speed Graphics Card: Evga GTX 660 SC Storage: Samsung 840 series 120 gig ssd and 1 tb wd blue that hasn't arrived yet. Case: Corsair Air 540 DvD Drive: None Psu: Corsair cx 600 watt UPDATED LOOK: Back of the desk: Inside the PC: The motherboard cpu and ram in the case. I just got the Fit 14A (Or Flip) and the brightness almost sent me over the edge. I can't control it at all! The brightness control will just set your "Preference" brightness. And it will do the rest. I usually like the auto brightness on these things, but this one us really annoying. It's usually too dark, and making it hard to see. And then at night, i have the brightness down. And it will turn up for no reason! I have tried the Sony forums. The only fix is in the VAIO control center. But (For some reason) i do not have that option. The "Turn Auto-Brightness off" switch is just not there. I will attach a screen shot. Anyone else know another way? Because this is crazy! Is it a windows setting, intel setting, or Sony setting. The snip has the model also.

Hi guys! I am new here to the forum, but not to the LinusTechTips channel on Youtube. Anyways, I was wondering if you could give me some critique on my pc I want to build. Before you say anything, yes, I actually do have all the money for the build. I've saved it up for the last year and a half. My mom and dad are going to pay for a small part of the build, but I do intend to pay them back. The main reason I want this build is because I currenty use an old Optiplex 745 for video editing and... there isn't really anything else I can do with it. It's soo slow, it takes 2-4 hours rendering a 20 minute video in movie maker at 720p! Now, I do plan on doing a lot of stuff with the new computer. I want to mostly do video editing on Adobe Premiere, use Photoshop and After Affects for drawings and animations etc. I want to be able to use the Dolphin emulator at max settings while recording using Audacity, Dxtory, and a few other windows open. I also wanted to get into gaming because I don't really have an sort of Playstation or Xbox. Plus, I know there are more options in terms of Indie games on the PC. The reason I have two hard drives is because one (WD Green) is just for mass storage and the other one (WD Black) is for writing video using Dxtory to this hardrive. I decided to get dual monitors and replace my old OEM monitor. I decided to go with cheap IPS monitors, but I've heard pretty good review about these HP monitors and they are light weight, so they are easy to move around. I also decided to get dual monitors so it would make everything more organized when recording or editing videos. The reason I got 32 gigs of memory is because I want to really get into using After Affects and Photoshop. I also like to have a whole bunch of windows open. I would like it if guys could give me your opinions and what you think about this build!

sooo, my lenovo flex 14 screen kept flickering with white lines, it's really bothering me, there's a warning that graphics driver crashed but it flickers almost all the time. maybe it's the ribbon cable connecting it to the screen... but i don't know. what do you guys think?

So i am thinking of buying the new razer blade and i was wondering if i could buy the cheapest model and then just buy a new ssd that has more storage and swap it out. Or if it is a sotered to the motherboard og some special brand.
