verify in the UEFI, but i believe ASUS uses adaptive mode on their canned overclock
options. thus, using a synthetic benchmark will generate extremely warm temperatures.

another is that ASUS in their canned tunes, will overcompensate on the voltage factor
as any CPU chip can take varying amounts of voltage to perform. it is a great place to
start learning to overclock, but be known, you have a better potential of manually
    overclocking.

temps look fine to me, your system won't reach prime 95 temps on the regular use, I think you are fine.

They're mechanical key switches. Each key on the keyboard is a spring-loaded switch. The differences:

Red - less force required, linear switch. Very soft to the touch. Unanimously good for gaming. Your experience may vary. No distinct click unless bottoming out the key. Some may not like the lower force needed for key presses, as it's fairly sensitive.
Black - more force required than Red, again linear. Slightly more resistant. Good for gaming. Your experience may vary. No distinct click unless bottoming out the key.
Brown - about the same force as Red key switches, non-linear. Has a tactile bump that indicates when the key is actuated. Best balance of typing and gaming.
Blues - bit more force required than Browns, non-linear. Tactile click sound when key actuates. Best for typing, decent for gaming (subjective).

Those are the standard four. The others are:

Green - Tactile click of blue combined with the heavy spring of Black. Roughly speaking. May be a louder click too. They actually require a fair bit more force than Blacks.
Clear - Tactile Bump. Basically a heavier version of the MX Browns.

Covers all of the common/uncommon MX switches. There are other types of Mechanical key switches.

I think you didn't get my point.

-He has a 3770 (already on his hand, house etc.)
-He is looking for a motherboard so I recommend him the H77 motherboard since he has a locked cpu (non K)
-I posted that there is no point getting z87 since H77 or ivy is a lga1155 while the 4th gen (haswell) is a lga1150 so it won't fit.
-By the time he wants to upgrade if he ever get the H77 there would be broadwell or skylake or whatever comes after.

    over view
-Buy H77 lga1155 socket. (he already have 3770 from us dell system).
-Upgrade in a couple of years where there would be a soon to be 5th gen or 6th gen intel processors (they might be called something else I don't know it's the future after all).

I hope you understand it better now .

note: to save money he can just buy off some decent but cheaper h77 motherboard compared to buying a Z77 motherboard where he won't even use it to it's capabilities.
It's like buying some very expensive sports car but riding it out on a traffic place (my area in my country has traffic 24/7 lol QQ)

unless of course I mistake someone else's system

    by looking at this quote.

3770 + ssd + hdd out of his old dell 8500 = I assume he has it. so no need to buy z87 or z77 or even the 4770k.

I assume I got the right poster.

so most likely I assume he has the chip. and re-using it with the ssd and hdd out of his old dell 8500.

yeah but he said he will take the 3770 off his current dell 8500 which means he already has the processor.

buying a 4th gen mobo will make him spend more for the processor. so no point buying the z87.

that's why I recommend him to buy the h77 mobo so by the time he wants to upgrade there would be a 5th gen or maybe even a 6th gen by that time.

Your XPS 8500 is very high-end and fits the "gaming rig" category. Instead of just sending the components to waste, save a penny and carry over the CPU, RAM, SSD, HDD, and optical drive over to the new rig. That way all you need is a PSU, mobo, CPU cooler, and case.

Stay away from the z77 zone in terms of your motherboard. Go for H77 or B75.

change the case, psu and gpu. Take it from me, my pc was a dell insprion 620 once upon a time, i recommend you get a new motherboard in which you need to follow the rules of this article or you will have to get another copy of windows.

the cpu is fine but cant be overclocked, stay away from z77 boards, this will do http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-GA-H77M-D3H-SKT-1155-H77M-D3H-Motherboard/dp/B007KZQFV6/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1399245265&sr=8-12&keywords=h77+motherboard

As for the psu, get a 600w(corsair, XFX, seasonic and EVGA are best(other companies are great but ask first)), your build will work with 500w psus but i prefer to leave headroom.

As for case, nzxt, corsair, bitfenix, fractal design. So many great cases to pick from, the case is down to what you think looks nice, dont let people throw cases down your throat because in the end its you staring at it for the next few years.

The rest seems fine to me
