    ok so just on a whim i tried the "not most recent" bios like i did the first time.
     
    I tried the flash with 7B85v26 version of the bios. (which mentions 5000 series in the description)
    power cycled the computer after the flashback bios install.
    cleared the cmos
    now it posts! yay, so maybe something was wrong with the latest bios, like it was a patch to a previous instead of the whole package.

    @Hachi_Roku256563might be onto something.
    For that motherboard, BIOS version 7B85v26, or newer, must be flashed onto the motherboard before the 5600G will be recognized.
    Do you have an older CPU/APU available to perform the BIOS update?
     
    Oh the motherboard, also has a 'Flash BIOS' button / feature, so you can update the BIOS without a CPU installed.
    Make sure you follow the steps on how to flash the BIOS "headless" properly.

    This laptop is possibly older than i am (i was born in 1982).  This laptop belonged to my grandmother and my dad being in IT just kept it around.  He passed away 2 years ago so i cant ask him anymore info on it.  It still boots, but no clue how to navigate it past this page.  The battery pack is still there but it swollen and not usable.

    Toshiba laptop with Win95, still boots.  Also has external floppy drive, docking station.  touchmouse still works.
