Looks like I'll have to hope that'll work then. Thanks for the pointer.

My laptop is the dumping ground for both a fair amount of Blu-Ray dumps as well as game console dumps, and the current drive (a ~6 month old 1TB WD Blue SMR drive which is in flawless health) is not a fan of, regardless of how fragmented data is. And tying into that, I'm not particularly keen on blasting an SSD in the ass with writes and erases. Besides, if I wanted to look for an SSD that would at least stand a chance of lasting, I would have made the topic about finding a durable 1TB SSD, not a 1TB CMR spinning rust-mobile.

As the title suggests, I need some help looking for a CMR 1TB HDD, ideally a 7200RPM one. CMR is basically a necessity as it will see a TON of writes (which SMR drives suck at) and 2.5" (9mm height max) is a requirement since it'll be going in a laptop. So does anyone have ideas? I seem to recall older drives being CMR which has me looking at the WD10JPLX, but I can't find anything on if it's CMR or SMR.

Only one way to find out if it's possible with your phone or not.

Per AMD : Find someone who can bend the pins back
Honda CRV replied to AMDSadness's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
How exactly is it AMD's fault for making a "bad design" when you don't know how to remove a cooler from a PGA CPU? If you've been working with CPUs for nearly as long as you claim, you should know at least the most basic of tricks to remove it (that being to get it good and warm and gently twist+pry the cooler off). And even if you just straight up ripped the CPU out of the socket, the pins don't just magically get bent like that, you clearly whammed it against something while you did it. -
Is my Corsair H100i v2 a bottleneck?
Honda CRV replied to Incognito Clown's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
That part is just the Intel charm. You're shitting out a ton of heat in a fairly small area on their higher-end mainstream parts. Only real way to avoid that is overcooling like hell and/or really perfect a manual OC with a lower voltage. -

Lapping wouldn't do a hell of a lot in this case. It's not like a lot of the older chips where you could spin them around like a top and they'd go for eons. Since the OP said their liquid temp hits 50 in 10 or so minutes, this is just a case of the cooler being inadequate for the job. Usually if your water temp goes much above 40-45 it's not a bad idea to consider stepping it up a notch, and if it's getting into the 50's you are seriously overpowering it. -
The whole point of this idea is to avoid spending money on more antennas whenever I forget them and break them. Not really. I'd be looking for something a lot closer to what OEMs use in laptops and desktops. Something that would ultimately look a lot like this, just with ~16-18 inch cables going to the actual antenna bits. I'm plenty well aware of cases being metal. That's why I said I'd be plopping them the front panel, which is plastic. It's really no different than what basically every prebuilt from someone like HP does. ...And this was the entirety of what my OP was about, stating about going from a wireless card with an NGFF NIC and glorified laptop antennas, but with long cables, all going to the front panel.

Hey all, I'm wanting to get a sorta niche item and I'm not sure where to look for it (or if such a thing even exists). My PC has a wireless card in it that uses the 8260, and the one thing that always worries me is the external antennas, since I'm always afraid of bonking them and ruining the cable (and I broke one of the antenna-style ones beforehand). I'd love to get something I can plug directly into the 8260 and run up behind the front panel of my case, with like a 4-6 inch actual anntenna-y bit and a ~18 inch cable leading to it. Ultimately this is something a lot like what some laptops use but I'd just want something that'd do very well in my application, since I ultimately plan on upgrading to the AX200 and getting a WiFi 6 router, and want to go as fast as possible. Is there anything like this on the market?

new PC for media consumption or just use what I have
Honda CRV replied to Whisper97's topic in Home Theater Equipment
The only drawback I see (and I'm in a similar situation when it comes to redecorating, but also wanting my PC plugged into the TV), is that depending how you have things set up in the room, you might end up running a long-ass HDMI cord along molding/up and over doors. I know for me that's going to have to be my solution. -
I'm a fairly long-time Firefox user, and out of pure boredom I'm giving Chrome a shot, and there is one thing I DESPERATELY miss from Firefox. In FF, you could open a whack of YouTube videos in new tabs, switch through the tabs, and the videos wouldn't begin to play until you told them to. Obviously this isn't the case in Chrome, since as soon as you switch to a tab, it will begin playing that video. Is there a flag or something I can enable to make it behave more like Firefox? I've tried looking around for things telling you how to, but of course I couldn't find anything relevant, as the flag that comes up as being a potential solution got removed sometime last year.

Ideally you'd want the AIO as intake. Your graphics card doesn't really have any direct fresh airflow in a config like this one. Odd dust accumulation could also be a bit of an issue in a config like this, since air will be trying to come in wherever possible (such as those perforated expansion slot blanks).

Which is faster on PS4, Internal or external HDD?
Honda CRV replied to Renton577's topic in Console Gaming
Depends on the external drive being used, the My Passport Ultra 3TB I have smacks the internal drive in the PS4/XB1 around like a red-headed stepchild.
