  1. Brilliant idea to save a buck and look awesome too. +1 rep
  2. This seems more like an invasion of privacy and a slight breach of morality than anything. Students that want to learn will make a genuine attempt to do so and it also depends on the teacher if this is true or not. Back in my year 10 maths class, we had a teacher that knew his math, but wasn't ready to teach our class (half our class was fairly disruptive), so we barely learnt anything. With the same class in year 11, we had a much better teacher and it showed- results went up across the board. I really hope Intel collaborates with actual classrooms and teachers rather than with their own executives who haven't been in the education system for several decades.
  3. Great build! Maybe (if acoustics isn't a concern) remove the Deepcool cooler and just use the stock cooler to save a buck- you might be able to invest the money saved in a larger M.2 or SATA drive. Otherwise, this is an excellent build.
  4. I reckon Antarctica or far north Canada would be better, especially given the political tension surrounding Russia at the moment.
  5. Hi, just got back from a family 'road trip' of sorts and whatever I was experiencing seems to have disappeared. As for performance, I don't think it was hitting its full potential but I don't know if that has anything to do with the CPU I'm using temporarily (an i3 10105f) or if it was to do with the GPU acting up. Big thanks for you help either way, I've marked this thread as resolved
  6. Fair enough, but same thing happens in AMD's own software which I find puzzling. You think there's any real issue though?
  7. screenshot of load and temps from argus on boot
  8. I've switched the on-board bios settings between 'P-mode' and 'Q-mode' with no real difference aside from the fan speed. I'll try using the Radeon software to adjust the fan curve but I already use Argus Monitor to do that, I'll let you know how that goes in a bit because I'm a bit busy right now. Regards
  9. Hello, I recently bought an ROG STRIX 6700 XT (this one) and I've noticed some weird behaviour, although I did some light research and didn't find anyone else experiencing this. After configuring my settings and making sure everything was running smoothly, I noticed that, at idle, the GPU was under ~90% load and idling at 50 degrees Celsius. I am aware the latter is mostly fine, however, the fans seem to only turn on at 50 degrees no matter how much I try and configure them- I've only been able to alter the speed. To clarify, the average temps (not hotspot) will hover around 50, with the GPU stopping fan spin below 50 and starting up again once it goes above. As a self-proclaimed 'quiet freak', it definitely annoys me. Moreover, it does this after behaving normally on start-up- that being a load of <5%, temps in the 30 degree range and fan speed at 0rpm. At around 15 seconds after I reach the desktop, it'll start behaving as I outlined above. It also produces a pretty aggressive coil whine sound as a part of this 'weird behaviour', so much so that it sounds almost like power is arcing across something and I can hear it at my desk while my pc is on the floor around a meter away from me. I haven't taken the card apart yet but I don't mind doing so to inspect it (it's also still under warranty and whatnot as of now). To my knowledge, I got it new at MWave, my local retailer, although there was some light damage on the box (I picked it up from the store), so I don't suspect that this is returned item. Further thickening the plot, this 'load' on the GPU at idle only shows up in the AMD software:Adrenalin Edition and Argus Monitor (fan control and temp sensors), but not in task manager. I can try and get a screenshot of the argus graphs next time I turn on the PC to show the behaviour on start-up. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I got this for an absolute steal and I really don't want to have to return this beauty. Aside from this issue, she runs great and does everything I could have asked for and more, it's frankly incredible coming from a GTX 680 to this beast. Thank you in advance.
  10. Aha! Is this you, @mon1ka?

Got flashbacks from many years back when Skype was a thing. Bot accounts randomly message you "hey is this you?" and makes you download malware xD

      This was a thing? Huh.

No, sorry to disappoint but I'm not that user.

      I'm just a guy from Aus 🙂

My name's inspiration is from the French artist Mounika. and isn't my real name

Also, sorry for the late reply, I'm not very active on this forum but I'm trying to be a little more involved.

Have a good one and g'day from Aus

  11. As for the motherboard sliding on the box, you can get neoprene or just a rubber mat to put it on. It should stick well enough to the motherboard and box to not let anything slip
  12. Sorry for late reply A 2080ti for 300usd thats freakin awesome!!! A 3600 would be great with it if its within budget but a 3300x should be good too. As for PSUs: non modular is fine, just make sure it comes with the right cables. And be sure to get a decent PSU, too. 650W should be good but it doesn't hurt to go higher. Also make sure you have enough cooling for the card, even though it's on open air for now a fan could help and if you intend to get a case, get one that's optimised for good airflow
  13. just realised; if you need more money for different parts, i recommend getting cheaper RAM and a cheaper case. Even though looks and taste are subjective, sometimes prices are a bit more attractive. For the best experience, go for 3600mhz RAM, 3200mhz would do great too. That being said, you can still definitely use ryzen cpus with lower frequency RAM, but there may be a performance dip in some applications (please do your research on this though, I'm not too well-versed in Ryzen and RAM)
  14. Yeah, I think thats a pretty good idea. You don't have to upgrade the cpu, a ryzen 3 3100 or 3300x will do just as well as a 3600 for gaming. If you're rendering or doing some CAD then the 3600 is recommended.
  15. alright, once I get some more money I'll try and get some. I don't currently have RAM but im close to getting some from a friend. If temps are alright I think I won't get the fans but thank you again for the recommendation :))
