  1. What bothers me is that a lot of people will now start treating valve/steam nicely after this. As many redditors pointed out people flipped their opinion very quickly about MS with the Xbone DRM model switch. Good that they changed their minds and have the decency to admin a mistake, but they should still be watched with a warry eye because this might happen again. Think the issue was that the skyrim modding was well established before they stuck a price tag on things, if they did this out of the gate on a future game... well at least people enjoy their hats... /s

  3. I just think its a really cool idea / proof of concept type thing. Really I think its an excuse to build it because they can.
  4. I still can't understand their naming conventions. New Nintendo 3DS (NN3DS) instead of the old N3DS. I can see it's a simmiliar route to the Wii U vs Wii, however, that caused some confusion for people buying the console for their kids or grandkids. This "new" they are putting on everything is a bit annoying and unoriginal in itself, even a bit of a gimmick. But with the NN3DS especially if they make games only compatible for it is going to cause some confusion when purchasing accessories or games for certain people. Given who they usually target their stuff at, younger generation and families, who may or may not be savvy enough to pay attention to these things. That being said, Nintendo is very stubborn it seems, they do something and roll with it even if it doesnt make sense or isnt an ideal thing on the customer side. As much as I love Nintendo, with decisions like that I can see why they got themselves into financial trouble last year.
  5. I believe that was from the Ben Heck Show. He also did a Xbone "Tablet"
  6. I believe that there should be a 32-bit option yes. Not that I agree with it at all but some applications and environments still run software that has compatibility issues with 64-bit OS. One of the clients for my work has this exact problem. Mind you I don't like it because its crap software to begin with but when a company is heavily invested into a particular software, even if it is a POS, it's good to have the ability to downgrade to 32-bit and not have your day ruined.
  7. To my knowledge this is only available under Windows Server with the installation of a specific role. That being said it's probably not good security practice to have something that stores your stuff be directly public facing. The best option would be to setup some old or cheap hardware running a distro like pfsense, ipfire, clearos etc. I personall like pfsense but it can be a tiny bit daunting if you are not familiar with some networking concepts/terms but there are a lot of resources for information out there being that its open source It is possible to do this via virtualization software such as VMware ESXi if you have more than one dedicated NIC and you setup one to be internal and one to be external.
  8. Glad some manufacturers are aware and address things when moving forward from previous models. Checked out the debrand site, nice to see that their skins look to be high quality and judging by the video well worth the money. Also awesome that they sent you a review phone after not getting one from the manufacturer!
  9. My favourite part would be the decent battery life. Brings a nice balance between power and portability for the specs
  10. So I went onto Lenovo (CA) site today and the y410p was $590 off! Sadly the sale ends tonight but I jumped all over that deal! $1380 down to $790 it will be perfect for my needs. Probably in 1.5 yrs I'll then consider upgrading my desktop to a new platform. Thanks guys!
  11. Everytime I looked they SLI option was never really listed because that was the one I wanted initially. Now, atleast the Canadian Lenovo site, has the Y50 with the new 800 mobile gpu. The other day it had it listed with a bluray included and now it doesn't. Confusing and interesting how they keep changing on their site. Hope you get yours soon!
  12. Hello LTT Forum, This is my first post here and since I am in the market for a new laptop I would like your input and feedback on what is the best performance per dollar for around $1000 I have a gaming desktop that is a bit older but I am not looking for a crazy high end gaming grade replacement for it, just something that is fairly powerful and can do some gaming when I don't want to cart the ol' rig around. I'd mostly be using it for light gaming, some light weight VMS (before deploying them to a proper server), and the typical useage stuff (youtube, nextflix etc) I was leaning towards a lenovo Y50 or 510p given they always seem to be on sale off of Lenovo's site and appear to offer quite a good spec for the price being asked. I would love to get a really good ultrabook for its thin and light style but most I am finding they tend to have a touch screen which isn't really my thing. I would love to have a integrated dock to easily connect it screens, etc, but that gets into some higher end business grade notebooks that don't seem to offer descrete graphics options. What's your guys' take on whats currently out there or coming out for that price point? I am slightly flexible on that budget but would like to hit that goal. Many thanks! Also let me know if this is the proper place to post such questions moving forward.
