  1. Haha. True. Are you looking to run a dedicated machine for it? What are you looking for in terms of budget? By the way a 6th gen i7 is actually an overkill. You could probably run a lot more for that cpu If you are looking to buy something new, I could recommend something else instead.
  2. Oh okay, from what I see, its like teamviewer. I would say, you could just get a full blue iris license and install team viewer. Team viewer will most probably work better. If you would like to setup a VPN server, i can help you with that as well.
  3. Hey, that is awesome. Glad it all went well. I see. True. So here is the thing. Renting from imou wouldn’t be a problem but as you said, your video is sent to their server and we don’t know what they do with that data. It’s like someone creepy is watching you all the time. Lol. Sorry. But on the other hand, blue iris is located locally in your computer, so it is not intercepted by anyone. By the way I am a bit confused about some of the things you mentioned. You said you need to two blue iris license for remote support? You can just get the blue iris full license and it supports 64 cameras and it’s a one time payment. You keep the license forever. And I think you are talking about priority with Remote Desktop support in the next point. Those plans basic, extended and priority are support plans where a blue iris company employee will help you with setup or issues. I don’t think you need that. You eitherways get the basic support plan for one year. And what they mean by Remote Desktop support is that they will Remote Desktop into your computer to help you. To view the content on blue iris remotely, I would say, there are a few options 1. Team viewer 2. Port forward the blue iris web port 3. Run a VPN Server at home and port forward the VPN port. Then you can connect to your home VPN from anywhere and access the data. Hope this helps.
  4. If the signal between the main AP and the repeater is really good and on 5GHz then the current setup is good. You could just run a normal speed test using Speedtest.net and see the difference between both.
  5. Hey, Well, there is definitely a difference. Especially when it comes to WiFi, there are many variables that make up that difference. Signal strength, 2.4/5/6, Electrical Interferences, Other APs running on the same channel etc. It all depends. Keep in mind a repeater does help extend the signal but it also adds another hop. And moreover, the signal between the repeater and the main AP is also another thing to watch out for. To best utilize the repeater setup, it’s best to use the below setups 1. Main AP ——5Ghz(Good/Excellent signal)—— Repeater——5Ghz—— Devices 2. Main AP ——Wired——Repeater——5Ghz——Devices 5Ghz is really sensitive to signal strength and the speed decreases drastically as you add more walls or thickness.
  6. Hey, Your assumption regarding the USB WiFi could most probably be the reason for that. It probably is overloading due to continuous usage. It might not be rated for it. Do you have the make and model number of the USB WiFi dongle?
  7. The best way would be to connect the ISPs WiFi router to your laptop and try accessing the routers webpage using the browser. The default gateway on your laptop should be the IP of the ISPs WiFi router.
  8. The reason why Cisco router is not working with the modem is probably because your ISP is expecting a different setting to DHCP from the Cisco router to connect to the internet
  9. Oh okay. And do you know if DHCP is ok for the Cisco router if you connect it directly to the modem? Or do they use like PPPoE? If you don’t know, we can extract some information from your current router and see if it’s DHCP or PPPoE or Static IP or if they are using something else for it.
  10. Oops. That isn’t good. Do remember to use command “copy run start” if you are planning to restart the system. In regards to the error, It is usually displayed when default gateway isn’t assigned yet. In terms of the DHCP client, I would suggest if you could set a static IP rather than using DHCP. Would make it easier for us. Would that be possible? int g0/0 ip address 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0 (<- IP assigned from modem) no shutdown exit Can you try after that?
  11. Hmm. I’ve only had experience with pfSense, Cisco firepower, Cisco ASA and DDWRT router. Maybe someone else can suggest you something better suited for your needs.
  12. Sure, let me know if you have any update.
  13. Yes, that would be an option too. Using a switch to do the traffic shaping. Less load on the main router.
  14. Haha. Well they can get the NetGate products as well if pfSense is something they like but want a box with pre-installed pF.
  15. Hey, so I’ve been doing some traffic shaping similar to what you mentioned. I used pfSense to get the job done. You can shape it the way you like. There are lots of various options build into it.
