  1. Money saved is gonna be insane, power bill for sure and hopefully not paying scalpers... Hands off RDNA 2!
  2. For SketchUp having a graphics card sure helps... But there are computers without graphics card that weigh times less than a laptop with it's battery... And yes I understand people that hate being plugged into the wall, but how long can you realistically sit with laptop in your lap without legs going numb, felling discomfort? Better invest extra you save not buying laptop into proper chair and table, your neck and back will thank you. Going to extremes, nothing beats screen on the ceiling and just laying in your bed, but that is a fantasy to me...
  3. For home use, desktop PC for sure works better. I have a pile of old laptops, it would take serious convincing to make me buy another one. Laptop screens are not great for most work, just because they are small. You can have semi portable PC, there are even some with handles attached straight to PC case. And with proper software you can have multiple people use PC at the same time without running into serious bottlenecks. Hardware thin client something...
  4. You can force websites to use font of your choice, but text might not fit in some fields/forms if you also resize it... Go into advanced if you want to try that...
  5. Are you sure video version has the voice at all? If you are on random karaoke playlist... Try this video: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=SbjKOI8VTY0&feature=share It's best to use music.youtube over regular youtube for music, because it never auto plays something other than song.
  6. DOS games are so lightweight, I don't think you need a PC just for that... Try emulator like DOSbox https://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1 Many users prefer getting old CRT monitors though for original feels...
  7. I bought Razer cynosa lite... yeah it's membrane, but so far so good. I don't understand how people rate it bad because of dim lights in the world where most RGB should have epilepsy warning label on them. Just recently was cleaning my newest laptop cooling pad and found out I could in fact unplug the LEDs without physically cutting anything this time.
  8. I understand the thread is YouTube based, but my complaint was not YouTube related at all, browsing in general... I found Kiwi browser and it's all good now.
  9. Tried restarting computer after installation? Maybe service failed to install, you can always try installing again, but make sure you do so from admin account.
  10. Graphic quality does not magically make good game. Much more people have phones, so that's where game developers are mostly headed. Electronics made as temporary tattoo stickers can use human body heat or sweat to produce power. Paper is good for information storage, QR codes or simply text... But there is reason people developed computers and use paper less, density. I can't imagine how huge 2D printed computer would be. Better go plant a few trees and learn to use phone as a computer.
  11. I know you have been buying things from chinese shops, but not every shop ships to Canada... Maybe they would make exception for LTT. Looking at bigger case from https://www.caseking.de/en/cases-and-modding/pc-cases/aluminium-cases#search:query=fanless+cases&tplview=desktop What I am looking for is a case that could run AMD APU with RDNA2 without any fans. Problem is such APU wattage is yet unknown, so I am waiting for it. Obviously proper size RAM. No moving parts means longevity, at least I hope so. And no noise is a huge bonus. It would be nice for change if you review something that we Europeans can actually buy without messing with customs.
  12. Must be really small diameter fan, those spin like crazy. Check if you got passive cooling in power plan, even though it shouldn't stop fans completely. Control Panel -> Power Options -> Edit Plan Settings ->Change advanced power settings ->>Processor power management -> select active. I just tested setting mine to 100% with OpenHardwareMonitor and got 2058 RPM. Maybe fan is getting too much voltage...
  13. Are you sure it's in access point mode? https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/2655/ If you don't connect any wireless devices directly to BT Smart Hub, you can disable wifi on it for less interference and lower power use. Never used DHCP Relay, I have no idea there.
  14. You should only have DHCP server enabled on 1 device, BT smart hub in your case. I don't know wireless router operation mode. Access point mode is what should work in your case. It's probably IP address conflict with another device or switching back and forth between multiple networks for some reason. Does your PC have wireless functionality?
  15. So is there a specific page I can open to look for said extensions on Samsung internet beta browser? So far it's blocking even less than Brave... I see every banner and get 3 pop-ups where there was 1 when using Brave. Will try kiwi browser, also claims to have extension support... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kiwibrowser.browser&hl=en&gl=US
  16. Can you even install add-ons on android web browser versions? Also with firefox many music videos on youtube play without sound and also some other websites... might be my device specific issue though.
  17. It's harder to block ads on android... Even using brave browser, pop-ups are killing me.
  18. Sell GPU for sure, don't need that in a file server. If you got the space and need for a server at all. Raspberry Pi is enough for single user server though if you consider power cost it makes no sense to have i7 CPU...
  19. I am waiting for RDNA2 dekstop APU. Hopefully it lives up to hype and makes GPUs obsolete, so I can make silent, not very huge computer. Looking at cases that act as heatsink right now... If I can play a racing game at 720p 60fps I will be very happy. And browser based things should run smooth at 1080p... I haven't even bought a new screen yet, because not sure what connectivity computer will require and shipping things together might cost me less.
  20. It might be harder to resell custom build compared to pre-built that you can even return to shop. If you build small enough computer you can probably take it with you as carry-on. Shipping within Europe is alright, but prices for electronics in general can be higher. So in cm you would be limited by sizes 55 x 35 x 23. I am not the one to suggest specific device, can't decide on mini PC myself...
  21. Do you get to pick safe mode? Spam F8 if you see OS list. If you don't get that far can always try changing BIOS settings, but I wouldn't know. Try installing again with different settings, UEFI to legacy or vice versa. MBR, GPT...
  22. Has anyone managed to get different language virtual keyboard working? Is there an apk I can just install and it would work? Or do I need to mess with some adb settings? As per this russian forums: https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtopic=728936&st=120#entry57250145 So far failed gboard, fleksy, are less popular even worth trying? Maybe gboard doesn't work without google services? Really don't want to install bloatware.
  23. All those things is why I can't justify getting a new laptop, my old workhorse at least isn't too loud and only gets to like 70C under extreme load. On the other hand if you don't care about noise... can add cooling pad, and mini vacuum type of thingy to the exhaust. In fact cooling pads can be very silent, if you get model with 1 huge fan at low rpm. Heat must go somewhere, if not keyboard, then probably bottom of laptop.
  24. I would stick with win 7, in fact typng this from win 7 laptop myself. Even if you have less than 4GB of RAM, go for 64-bit version. Can use as low as 700MB RAM after boot, but web browsing for long period of time will eat into RAM for sure. Can't expect smooth performance all day long, will have to restart web browser or find one that optimizes RAM usage automatically like "SimJet". I always failed getting 64-bit Win XP working properly, can't suggest. Old EXE games and software should run just fine... some things require .NET framework updates, but as win 7 is no longer supported obviously can't expect to run things made for win 10 or later on it. Obviously get SSD to run operating system from. Can store files on external drive or modify DVD tray with Caddy to hold another internal HDD. Multiplayer games will not run properly from external drive, especially if you only have USB 2.0, because of slow load times other players game will start way sooner, experienced in racing game.
