  1. That's gold right there! He can even OC the CPU if needed, the RX 580 packs a MUCH bigger punch than a 3GB 1060.
  2. Good job figuring it out. I was starting to wonder what the problem was, sounded strange.
  3. It's an m.2 SSD? You didn't mention that part. Do you have sufficient lanes for it? Is it properly pligged in and secure? Please double check everyhing. As worst case scenario you might have to RMA it.
  4. At which point did I say that he should read the software readings? I said he should check it by MEASURING which indicates that I meant he should use a multimeter, it's standard equipment for any household, even cheap chinese ones are capable of reliably measuring low voltage DC. While I do have one, I'm guessing Oscilloscopes aren't that common outside of workshops? But, I agree on the ripple part, however, one of the first indicators of possible failure is voltage dropping under load. However, I don't know which brand that is, I have never even heard of them, so I'm not sure if they are reliable or not.
  5. Yup, no matter how good it was, due to it's age I wouldn't use it. You can check how good it is by measuring the voltage while it is under load, if the 12v falls under 11.85v consider it useless, however, it should keep at around 12v at all times. Any branded 450W PSU is more than enough for a 2200G.
  6. I would have to agree, but there was no valid reason to get rid of it. Also, I guarantee that any wired headphones will KILL any BT headphones in their price range and even ones that are 20-30% more expensive. Also, peripherals that have integrated batteries, like BT headphones are an overall POOR investment. Batteries start dropping capacity relatively fast, and I don't want to have headphones that are over 2 years old and can barely hold a charge to listen to music for a bit, let alone last a day. So, effectively, after 3 years I have a useless piece of tech on my table, while quality headphones last for years. My dad still owns a pair of headphones from the 90s that are still producing amazing sound quality and while I'm typing this I'm listening to music on a pair of AKG's that were bought 6 years ago. So no thanks to BT peripherals.
  7. I agree, easily. The 2200G kills the Athlon and the 1050Ti is much better than the 1050. However, PUBG is an unoptimized mess, but it will run fine on it.
  8. The excuse would be that you already own a lot of high end/quality headphones and use them. Switching to BT is a pain and it requires that you buy new ones that are compatible and invest more cash to get higher quality ones compared to the traditional aux. Also, CHARGING! I don't want another tech device that needs charging, my phone, laptop and smart band are more than enough as it is. But there is always the option of going USB Type C to Aux like I do, sadly my new phone doesn't have aux and this adapter is an inconvenience.
  9. Could you unplug all the sata ports and have just the SSD plugged in and see if it detects it then?
  10. The OnePlus X is too old. Are you reading the latest news? Older gen iPhones get higher battery drain on the latest update. Nothing is safe and @Crunchy Dragon is completely right, getting anything above that barely makes sense. How about a OnePlus 5t or 6?

I'm back! What did I miss in the past 3 years?

But what if I get an RGB CPU cooler? Does it affect the CPU more directly since it's on top of it? Does it boost the cooling? The voltages/clocks? Does it make my dads last gen R3 1200 into a R5 1600 or even 1800X? Oh the great mysteries of the RGB! On a serious note. I recently got an AsRock MB with a RGB LED controller, I haven't messed around with it, but how much do the addressable RGBs cost? Any guides on here?

Uhm, so effectively it pushes my RX 570 4GB into a Vega 56 territory? I shall RGB it then and I'm even gonna push 13V on 12V LED. OC the RGB, daaamn, I might even go Vega 64!
  13. I just took a screenshot. This is what it looks like.

Damn, I'm gonna need to upgrade my rig then... But my rig is beneath my table. Must I RGB even if I don't look at my PC much?
  15. Anything low end with a Pentium/Celeron quad core and 4GB RAM. You will most likely end up with a terrible 720P panel and somewhat decent battery life. To be honest it will run Office apps and light browsing. However, I would suggest buying something more decent by either going second hand or adding more cash. Acer will most likely offer better specs at that price range at the cost of a cheaper/lower build quality.
  16. Get a digital wall socket tester. However, it will measure full system power use. Have you tried using MSI Afterburner and turning on the power consumption measurement. For example, my RX 570 4GB when properly tuned pulls 70-80W, which is confirmed when I did proper testing and calculations using the wall socket tester. You can see it in the image below.

Yes because RGB gives you 137% more performance, proven by science!*

  18. Well, I only have cash for CPU, motherboard, RAM. I'd still have to wait for PSU, cooling etc. So either way the build won't be complete before Christmas. Then I'll wait. Thank you very much for your help, cheers!
  19. I checked it out last night. In gaming they perform similar with the i3 coming out on top in a few games but only by about 10% at best and these were high framerates, at about 90-100fps. While down in the 40-50fps range they would clash with either coming out on top in some cases. I don't have DDR3 memory on standby, I would have to buy new, prices here are roughly the same with about 1-5% price difference between DDR3 and DDR4. I just looked up the release dates for Zen and they are claiming Q4 2016 to hit Christmas sales and some for early 2017. They are also claiming 40% higher IPC per core. This isn't that far into the future, I'm not sure if I should gather my money and wait a bit more. What is your opinion?
  20. I just looked it up, an i3-6100 will set me back a few extra e, while the cheapest decent H170 and DDR4 board will set me back 15e more ( Gigabyte GA-H170M-D3H), or about 35e (GA-H170-Gaming 3). DDR3 boards are only slightly cheaper than these two. Should I go lower than an H170 board? Or go for DDR3 boards? I'm thinking of keeping my options open for future upgrades in that case. Since with the AMD rig there are no updates, I'd have to go for AM4 boards and Zen CPUs. Since I'm not up to date with the latest news, is Zen still on route for new years? Maybe wait and save up more cash?
  21. Hey all, Well, I gave my old rig to my dad for use since I didn't need it any longer, I moved to a dorm and used my laptop for the past years and will continue to do so for the following two months. Some things came up and I blew my budget on a car so I'm looking to build a new PC on a tight budget. What I currently have: BenQ 24" LED Full HD monitor Keyboard & mouse Speakers and headphones WD Blue 1TB HDD (Data from old PC) WD Black 2TB HDD (New) Patriot Blaze 120GB SSD (New) Sapphire R9 270X 2GB GPU (from old PC) What I need: Well, everything else. I was thinking of getting an AMD FX 8370E CPU which is on a "get rid of stock" sale right now for 120e (usual price for it is 180-203e), for example an i3 6100 is 123e and an i5 6600k is 254e (double the price of the Fx 8370E). A GA-990X-Gaming SLI will set me back 94e, while a decent Z170 board will set me back 160e, even good H170 boards cost around 140e. To be honest the AMD combo would cost me a lot less and I could even fit a decent cooler into that price, it wouldn't need to be some expensive cooler since CPU is rated for a TDP of 95W. The PSU and case will be chosen later on. I'm asking if I should buy the FX 8370E CPU while it's still on such a good sale? I will probably update to an RX 470 later on but not at this point in time. This CPU will never be paired with high end GPUs in my system. While this will be a gaming rig, most games that I run work on my laptop (i3 4005u, 8GB RAM, 820m 1GB, ssd+hdd), except Overwatch and Battlefield 1 which I plan on buying once I build this. It will also be used for coding, graphics design, some rendering and a bit of 3D modeling. So this is supposed to be an allrounder on a budget. What do you guys think? If you want to check out pricing in Serbia visit Emmi.rs In order to get the price in Euro, take the price shown on site and divide by 123. You can compare the CPU and motherboard pricing there. Thanks
  22. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm back. What did I miss? I'm guessing at least 100 videos on LTT YT and a whole new forum look, which is nice... :D

  23. You will. But expect lower overclocks than the other editions, or well, you can push it, but expect really high temps and a really loud cooler. If you are ok with that, then go for it
  24. Blower style coolers are fine, expect a bit higher temps and more noise. But you can compensate for high temps by creating a custom fan curve. However, waiting a bit more won't harm you. It's up to you really.
  25. I'd wait for the GTX 1060. See how it compares with the RX 480 and choose between them. At 1080p anything higher end than those two makes no sense at all.
