Is USB 2.0 the only port to boot from @ Windows install?
NDRE28 replied to NDRE28's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool was the problem! I created a bootable flash drive using Media Creation Tool and it worked in a USB 3.1 port.- 11 replies

NDRE28 replied to NDRE28's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Thanks. But that’s not the question. The question is: can a Windows 10 bootable flash drive be connected to a USB 3.0 or 3.1 port to start installation?- 11 replies

I do use that to download the .iso file in my PC. But I use the other one to make the boot drive.- 11 replies

No, I use that one to download the .iso file in my PC. Later, I use Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool to create a boot-able flash drive.- 11 replies

Hello! I’m curious if that’s how it goes for everyone. First of all, my mobo is Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master (rev. 1.0). I can boot with a flash drive to update the BIOS using any USB port: 2.0_3.0_3.1 But if I want to reinstall Windows 10 clean, I need to use a USB 2.0 port, because the 3.0_3.1 won’t work. I create Windows 10 boot drives using the program: Windows 7 USB-DVD Download tool. Am I missing anything, or is this normal?

So, I moved my DIMMs from slots 1+3 (A1+B1) to slots 2+4 (A2+B2). I benchmarked my PC using: Geekbench 4.3.3, Cinebench R15, Cinebench R20, FutureMark MemTest, CPU-Z 1.9, and Windows 10 rating command “winsat formal” in Command Prompt. AND THE RESULT IS... THE SAME! No gain and no loss in performance.

Hello! I own a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master (rev. 1.0) motherboard. I have 2 DDR4-2666 memory modules of 16GB each (no XMP enabled). I inserted my memory modules in slots: 1+3 (A1+B1). Everything works great! Recently I’ve been taught that the correct placement of 2 memory modules is into slots: 2+4 (A2+B2) because of some signal reflections or so... My question is this: Is there any truth to that? And if so, why does my mobo manual say nothing about it?

Hello! I have certain icons on my desktop with long names, but Windows only shows me a part of their name. Is there a way to increase the visible length of the icons’ names so I can see their entire name? I knew how to do that in Windows XP, but Win.10 is different... ?

I don’t go lower than TLC! I have 2 MLC drives and a TLC (NVMe) drive. The next drive that I’ll buy will be NVMe MLC. PS: Big, fast and cheap cannot exist! Novices will buy PLC NVMe drives thinking that it’s a good deal! ?

My Intel i7-9700K runs at 4.7GHz with default BIOS settings, no overclock. -
Well, what can you do? It’s hard to help someone through messages, without being there, when things get complicated. Other participants will try their best to help, but if nothing works... Servicing the PC is the last option.
