  1. If your open to waiting months the qk 100 is about to release for group buy pretty soon. They make some of the best built boards over ever built in this price point. Other than that for unstack model keychron has some great options like the k10pro k6 pro or the q6
  2. That's not how that works. Both pcie and USB solutions have latency. Both latency is basically about the same if not less than your mouse latency. The only time anyone ever notices audio latency is when their recording vocals and monitoring themselves other wise audio latency in gaming is negligible and pointless to avoid. At this point your limiting yourself and will end up with worse sounding audio which is more detrimental to the amount of money you spent on those headphones and not being able to get the most out of them you can by getting worse audio gear. This is more detrimental to your setup than the latency that a DAC has through USB. Which again is negligible.
  3. Why not USB? USB will give you the same performance for cheaper
  4. There is the sounblaster g6. It's a pretty Greta product that has virtual surround sound.only problem with it is creative has garbage support so if you do run into a problem you may be shit out of luck. but I generally don't ever reccomend stuff that does virtual surround sound but if you really need it you can buy a schiit fulla for a $109 and just use software like boom 3d or razer surround sound to get a similar effect
  5. TL DR: been I to music whole live but friend got me interested in audio gear at age 14 I'm now 24 so about 10 years old. I was always a music kid in elementary school I got gifted a Sony walkman mp3 player and had a lot of music my 22 year old uncle really liked loaded on to it by him. It was a great mix of local indie, alternative rock, hip hop and pop , I would happily listen to all this music with whatever headphones or cheap checkout aisle I'm ears I could get my hands on. Getting a walkman instead of an ipod should be telling if what my socioeconomic status was as a child. Got into audio in highschool probably at 2013 friend let me listen to his hd 598's fiio e10k combo and that headphone perplexed me. The lack of bass made me reject them at first but hearing details for the first time was what really opened my eyes to just more expensive headphones. I knew I myself needed something like this as I was someone who has also tried beats which were really popular at the time more popular than now and as much as I liked the bass response cause I was a child that pair also perplexed me cause it kinda sounded bad even for my inexperienced ears but I didn't have an idea of what is supposed to sound good till the 598. Me and him continued to bond over headphones and I would wear whatever I could get my hands on . I was poor and broke so I would use anything after all the biggest audio upgrade you can get ever is just getting access to sound. And access was more important to be than gear after all music is more important than gear. Fast forward to college. I have extra cash from grants and I pirated all my textbooks so I was looking to upgrade my gear overall. Had to replace a pair of $50 Phillips closed backs which in retrospect actually still sound good very balanced laid back for a budget closed back. And went for a pair of akg k240. Why the akg k240? I had a friend reccomend it to me and the few reviews int he internet at the time seemed to praise it for my use case. I needed something comfortable with a wide soundstage and good build quality as build quality was really important for me as a kid who was in the go all the time in college. While you may think it doesn't necessarily fit all those categories for the price I was willing to pay for audio at the time I was great and I was happy with it. If you want me to elaborate I can drop a review. After college I get into PC gaming and want a audio upgrade. I start hearing about the dt 990. I met a few guys now into audio and start consulting with them they argue it's not the best but for my use case at the time since I was focused on gaming audio they reccomend the 250 ohm and fiio e10k. Which is the generic gaming reccomendation at the time. I get my fiio e10k first test it out with my akg k250 and get blown away by how much the headphone changes with proper power sure it's 55 ohm but really low sensitivity and that's where I start researching and all these things about power, impedance and sensitivity start making real sense to me. Which is a shame cause I took a lot of electricity related courses in college so it's plenty lot of the stuff I already knew. But never really experienced it audibly. Next 990 shows up. Sound wise I had my problems but got used to it's sound signature and really learned to appreciate great soundstage and it's excellent imaging. At around this time.i start getting into reddit and forums start digging deeper into reviews.start hearing more and more headphones through local guitar stores and friends locally. Hifiguides forum also starts up by z reviews. I joined early and met a great core group of people who us as a group have also made our own forum where we discuss audio though it has more of a focus of high end audio. But that's getting ahead of myself. In hifi guides I meet discuss and learn more about audio. Watch more YouTube videos then I get my liquid spark and this is where I learn about gear pairing and how neutrality isn't king. This is the point in my journey I realize I wasn't an audiophile. write my impressions, then the he 4xx's write a review, then I get my 58x's write a review, then I start going into LTT help other beginners out try to suggest what I know to the best if my ability, the. Hey the monoprice m570 (these are trash) write a review.. get more gear and write impressions. I even had a year there where I got obsessed with budget audio and spelling a fair amount of cash buying budget audio gear to just come to the conclusion the the ksc75's are GOATed and all I need in budget audio. Years of doing that I now found my happy place in audio still try gear out even had a few companies gift me free stuff to review or send feedback on or be part of their beta test program. So I started at about 13 I guess now I'm turning 25. I'm now just going back to music first and now with all the gear I accumulated I'm just trying to build up my music Library and knowledge. So current gear I own( or at least the ones I want to list too much sub $20 iems and earbuds that I could not be bothered to list) Headphones: hd 58x,he 4xx,hd 650, dt 770 600 ohm, dt 880 600 ohm, dt 990 250 ohm (modded), nighthawk carbons ,fostex X00 purplehearts, koss ksc 75, koss kp40i , koss ur40,koss porta pros Speakers: micca rb 42 amps: topping pa3, monolith liquid spark, monolith liquid platinum, schiit Asgard 3 DACS : topping d10, liquid spark dac, bifrost 2 IEMs (that I actually use): antlion kimura iem, tin t4(my all-rounder and general favorites right now) , guideray gri 58, final e3000, and Galaxy buds pros for work Portable source gear :fiio q1mk2, fiio btr5. Mic: audio Technica at2005usb cause I'm too lazy to deal with an interface.
  6. Unlike headphones in the iems space you can honestly tell most about an iem base don the frequency response not gonna lie. Fidn a frequency response you like and find one In your budget from a trusted brand. Shopping for IEMs has never been easier ngl.
  7. < removed by moderation > And like every review channel you as a consumer have to be knowledgeable about them. I myself at this moment would never watch Linus tech tips or any of his channels for serious audio reviews. It's simply not their wheel house. To give you much truly detailed product reviews on audio in the future? With the lab maybe. But even among reviewers you should be picky in general. Linus has never been the greatest at proper high analysis videos. What LTT as a group is Great at is more surface level beginner content that allows you just a peak below the veil into deeper tech. If you want deeper content you move on from LTT as they won't show you the full story you want harder facts and I formation about pc parts? Go to gamers nexus. You want to know more about a specific headphone the LTT showed you go fin a channel or website or forum that specializes in audio to tell you about it. LTT for the most part has always been about entertaining the viewer while informing them about products. While you claim they are professionals in the space sure they get paid to review product that is basically what a professional reviewer means. Just cause someone is professional doesn't mean they are good at what they are professional at. Even professionals have specialties. Any professional who claims to know everything in their field should not be trusted. I work in geo chemistry..meaning I know a lot about rocks, elements, and chemistry. Now does that mean I'm knowledgeable in all aspects of chemistry? Absolutely not. LTT specializes in entertaining viewers while informing them in a easy way to understand. Linus himself even said in the past before Labs ever existed that he himself didn't like doing audio reviews even though it's a thing he enjoyed cause there is just too much to go over and it's so highly subjective. Your analogy doesn't work cause who goes to someone asks if a car is good seriously considers their opinion without considering the opinion of others. And not analyzing potential biases in the person giving the opinion. It's a called proper research and one should do that. Anyone who buys a bad product just cause one person on the internet said it was good regardless of who that person is asking to get burned.
  8. Ah man feels like a waste but if we can't convince you otherwise at least get the best you can get. A evga nu audio pro should be decent. The shielding in most modern soundcards should be good to fend off interference and electrical noise in a PC it can pick up but the value just sucks for these. But if you insist the nu audio pro is there.motherboard audio just straight up isn't worth investing in neither are sound cards but with a headphone as resolving as the hd 800s at least get something decent
  9. I did, sadly you don't think nuance is a good answer.
  10. especially on short circuit which is not meant to be very deep reviews as they are generally first impression content just a step above unboxing content
  11. I started looking around for zakus on ali express being switches being made by tecsee it seems that are pretty readily available so I think he's solved for now.
  12. The ipod community is really into modding them if you want you can probably buy that and buy components to upgrade it better than new.
  13. I don't see why not if your willing to spend the cash sometimes peace of mind is worth the money. I personally think rca is great but I also dont have a mixer in my setup. But I doubt your cable runs are long enough for balanced to matter. Its your gear though I've definitely seen worse. Even I run balanced from my dac to my balanced amp.
  14. I feel most audio philes claiming it aren't even audiophiles. I'm pretty sure a pretty big qualification for it is making systems as neutral as possible to get as close to what the artist inntended as possible. This is why I disqualified myself cause I really could not care less what the artists intended.
  15. Yeah unfortunately I can't find much on the length other than them being o sidered extended stems not long pole. They do have noticable shorter travel distances than the likes of a boba.
  16. I play beat saber fine on a oculus quest thhrough my pc wirelessly at 120 hz with the popularity of the thing you can probably find a used one. don't even need the top of the line one if your running it through your pc
  17. there are plenty of otions these days what is your budget? oops nvm didnt realize your question was solved
  18. with that money why not just get a mic and a mic stand. Usign speakers for calls is just asking for trouble. I personaly dont have problems using my speakers on my setup even though I have a whole headphone mic setup. speakers are great when you just want to lay back and watch a youtube video or movie, or if you want to listen to music while not at your desk. or if your playing a game and not in a call. using speakers while in a call is just disrespectful
  19. separate questions I've been having troble finding a extra long pole switch do happen to have any ideas for a tactile or linear that is available right now that has super long pole? I had a friend who wants to get into custom keyboards and he really liked how my DOOM and Zaku switches felt.

    K361 vs M50x

if the music is already bass boosted get the akg k361. if you want it to boost bass in music get the m5ox it will just boost it more. if you play BF5 CSgo get he AKG k361 the m50x sucks for gaming
  21. its not very good for most use cases. therefore having nothing nice to say is sometimes better than saying hey its at least better than this product. but if the product again isnt very good in your opinion why would you. especially in the headphone space. as someone that probably knows more than linus about what is available in the headphone space there is literally almost no reason to recommend the m50x . and I'm someone who uses both $800 headphones and $15 on a daily basis. you are correct just cause you have standards doesn't mean you should just shit talk a product but that doesn't mean sometimes you shouldn't same things happened in the cpu market when ryzen was undeniably the choice in certain time periods in respective budget spaces. people would literally give you every valid reason possible not to buy the intel cpus for good reason. Linus and Luke said it themselves they don't understand why people like the m50x's and gives reasons why they don't like them and considering preferences and what they use daily which are very different sounding headphones what we call " neutral and warm" sounding headphones vs the m50x, often called "Muddy and sharp" by other more audio focused reviewers whose jobs it is to review headphones of course their not gonna like them . Linus himself has also reviewed and recommended cheaper headphones than the m50x's. watching the videos he gives his reasons as to why he doesn't like them to him they don't sound great and the pads are uncomfortable which can be a huge deal breaker for many although it can be addressed. and has really nothing that much good to say about them. because in all honestly in today's market there is literally nothing good to say about them other than their pretty durable and they are at least better than the vast majority of gaming headsets. the short circuit makes it seem like they are just decent value. it literally says nothing. the host in the short circuit also says " if this is your first step into the entry level audiophile area with high quality headphones, your gonna love these" this is a huge key sentence for those of us that are experienced like Luke and Linus in the area linus himself having like a $10 000 audio setup at home. these suck. like for me I would rather listen to koss ksc 75's a $15 headphone. if you also paid attention to the video he also pulls out lab results that make them look bad for gaming. highlighting a pretty large bass shelf and very peaky treble. and a big dip in the mids, all resulting in what I complained about here. for gaming closed backs you generally want to have something closer to the target response which is the white dotted line for more informed consumers in the space they would see this and know to stay away. Especially if you know these are closed back headphones which have a tendency to have little soundstage and when badly tuned often sound congested. thus throwing everything including all its flaws at your ears. watching the short circuit video again he doesn't even give it a glowing review and a glowing recommendation. all he says really is its better than a gaming headset like literally everyone on here has been saying and the mic is pretty good so its pretty decent value for a $150. He also highlights in the video as he says "there are so many opinions on it" literally meaning people have differing opinions on their quality. from some people it's unlistenable ,for other people it's one of their favorite closed back again back to what everyone is talking about, preference. he also highlights they are a bit "overhyped" and I'm sure in the interest of keeping good relations he doesn't highlight why they were overhyped (MKBHD).he also says they wouldn't be his first choice for headsets if you were into really competitive headphones. like the review itself is somewhat middling to a recommend at best nothing glowing nothing exceptional even though the title says what it says. It literally doesn't. all it says is some people use them. and guess what Linus and like uses them on their WAN show. but hate them. now you may ask why they use them? cause their cheap and durable. as they say in that part on the WAN show.
  22. oh damn your right thankfully there are Cheaper DAc alternatives that sound as good as the modi
  23. make sure noise suppresion settings like krisp are off in discord otherwise they may interfere with rtx voice
  24. I would never reccomend thx amps to beyer users. Their brighter sound signature really doesn't pair well with beyers already bright signatures. the cheaper magni amp is more powerful and is just as clean as well as more neutral sounding closer to the sound that comes out of a jds labs atom. Which to me is a way nicer sounding amp than the bright and clinical sound of the drop/early thx amps. Emotiva is a decent option but is pricey but will at least be a great speaker amp as well.
  25. You do realize there is publicly 76 members of the LMG team publicly https://linusmediagroup.com/ not including anyone they could have under probation or contract sure it could imply like and Linus but I also you know implies 74 + other members of a team with their own individual preferences and opinions on what sounds good to them.
