The ryzen 5 5600x is finally in stock at msrp so I'm probably gonna pick one up. Is there anything I should know first about compatibility and bios? I have a gigabyte b450 aorus m which is apparently compatible, but is there a specific way I have to update my bios? Cause I heard that once you update the bios it stops supporting the older processors

My friend is looking for a gpu and he asked me about it. He said he has $500 to spend on it, and he does not want to buy it used. What's the best thing you can get new for this price right now? i know all the gpu prices are high and crap

It's still broken.

The AWFUL design of the usb 3 motherboard plug. It's stiff, easy to break, and ugly.
Though I did find a fix for the housing ripping off the motherboard when you try to pull the cable out. Get an exacto knife and cut off the little notches on the connector wire.

I wish that my copy of MS-DOS 6.21 Plus Enhanced Tools on 3 3.5" 1.44MB floppy disks worked correctly - disk 2 works fine, disks 1 and 3 do not.
Granted but the computer you want to use it in breaks
I wish the RTX 3060 ti fe would come back in stock

I hope you're planning to upgrade that to High Sierra. Lion is way out of date. Glad to hear that it's running though!
Just upgraded to high sierra and it's running like butter. I installed macs fan control and it took care of the fans running at full speed.

Success!!! I finally was able to install mac os Lion with this dmg file and transmac.

alright, I can confirm that the late 2009 mac does support booting from usb. I just tested a memtest86 stick and it showed right up and it's running memtest86. So I guess I was doing the mac os bootable usb wrong.

Yeah I'm going to try using my friend's actual mac to create the bootable usb.

You can boot Macs from at least as far back as the early G4s from USB. Any Intel iMac should have zero problems with it.
Is there anyone you can borrow one from?
Well one of my friends has one, I would have to make a trip to their house to use it

I'm not even sure macs supported installing the OS from USB back then? Might have no choice but to use a DVD
Could you tell me how?

Did you mention me in a comment? I got a notification but don't see the comment.
Either way: is there any way you can get access to a running Mac?
I thought I did mention you in the last comment
but I don't have access to a running mac or else I probably would've figured it out by now

I cannot get this damn thing to install mac os. I've tried everything I can think of. I don't have access to another mac before catalina, and every attempt I've made to use transmac to create a bootable usb drive has failed. When I get into the boot menu, the usb never shows up. Is it a bad dmg? I tried the Sierra and el Capitan dmg files directly from apple's website https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT211683
no luck.

Right now I have a WD Blue 1TB (wdezex I think) and I use it to store videos and games. I'm thinking I want to replace it with a 4tb drive since I'm running out of space on it. I've looked at a few WD and Seagate ones on Amazon, but I'm not sure which ones are the best for under $100. I've also heard of them sneaking SMR instead of CMR, which is apparently worse somehow? How would a 5400 rpm CMR drive compare to a 7200 rpm SMR drive?
