  1. Fixed that for you... doesn't apply in the rest of the world or to the other 7 billion inhabitants.
  2. You see... that's not a black or white scenario... attending a gathering that's legal... not offensive... going to said gathering and chanting hate speech at others.... that's offensive. I'm not saying you can't have an opinion, every one is free to have whatever opinions that damn well please... that's a given as far as I'm concerned. But the moment you start trying to force that opinion on to others... that's when it becomes a problem.
  3. I'm guessing... American... right? So what we have here is a cultural difference. You've been taught that free speech means you can be the biggest, nastiest piece of shit on the planet and you get a free pass to say what ever, racists, hate fuelled, bigoted garbage you want... without any repercussions aside from other people calling you names. Most of the world is waking up to the fact... this doesn't work in a modern world... and some are trying to take steps not to silence free speech but to help 'moderate it'... hell, you're a mod... you could just as easily be accused of censoring free speech for 'moderating' a thread on here if it strays off topic... whilst enshrining the glories of 'free speech'.... So we already make allowances and compromises of how far we are willing to let free speech go. Some parts of the world are starting to set boundaries... if that comedian had made a more generalised joke about disabilities... no problem... free speech rules... but he deliberately targeted a specific individual... now we have a problem. We've crossed from general free speech into hate speech. This happened in Canada, so the US free speech argument is moot and invalid... even the UK's hate speech laws is invalid really. Canada is generally a more tolerant place, but that doesn't mean they're tolerant of this kind of hate... I'm hardly surprised that he's been fined, nor am I that sad... you accept the consequences of your actions or you whinge like a bitch and stamp your feet crying 'not fair, I should have an exception'. There's actually a Stephen Fry quote that I love to use... that kinda contradicts my point if you want to twist it. “It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so fucking what." Now that if taken out of context... completely contradicts what I'm saying... But he has clarified that he's referring to people who tend to act offended on behalf of others... and not people who are directly targeted for abuse.
  4. It's not really a question of 'preventing hurt feelings' that's simply taking the argument to a ridiculous extreme to try and undermine the legitimacy of deliberate and targeted hate speech... Which in this case... is exactly the kind of crap we need to eradicate. What you find that is some manipulative person... with some kind of power to push legislation... will come along and try to take it to exactly those kinds of ridiculous extremes... to undermine the good that 'can' be done. Free speech is fine in principal... but when it's used to promote hate it's not being used in it's intended purpose and I would suspect that the founding fathers of the US would be aghast at it being used in such a manner. I'm in the UK, and whilst we do have a general freedom of speech... we also have laws regarding 'hate' speech. When they were introduced everyone was up in arms, comedians saying they would be prosecuted for telling jokes and the politicians saying that wouldn't happen. To this day.. I am not aware of any such thing actually happening here in the UK... If I'm wrong I'm sure that some one will be along to tell me soon enough. There are cases of comedians not being welcome in certain venues and so forth... some one resigned recently as head of some venue because they were over ruled on blocking a comedian called 'Roy Chubby Brown' as an act. Some people like him, I think he's a vile, racist bigoted piece of shit.... his comedy is from the dark ages... but then he's probably in his 60's or 70's now. But I don't try to stop anyone going to see him... although if you started raving about how good he was, I'd certainly reconsider how much contact I wanted with you in the future. I do recall a young man who got charged with making terror threats agaisnt the public and an airport a few years back... Some young idiot made a daft joke on twitter when they were cancelling flights about 'if they cancel my flight I'm gonna have to blow the place up' or something like that. he was arrested, charged, lost his job and so forth... It was quite clear that it was a joke in my opinion.. but it goes to show that everyday folks have to be careful when making certain types of jokes in the current climate where any kind of bomb threat has to be taken seriously. Jokes have their place.. but jokes in an appropriate setting that don't deliberately set out to target the vulnerable is just common sense really... and that's coming from a person who used to push the boundaries with my own stand up.
  5. There's a crucial difference here... Telling a joke that people find offensive about disabilities in general... those people can go fuck themselves (not condoning those jokes, just that there isn't a joke in existence that doesn't offend some one, some where). But targeting a specific person with a disability is a fuckwit move... You've gone beyond expressing humour, and into a deliberate targeted attack on an individual. This isn't like mocking Trudeau for black face, this is attacking a kid with a severe physical impairment. I used to do stand up for many years, was quite well known in the comedy circles in my country and rated as one of the up and coming new acts back in 98 when I came second in some major competition (rated as one of the top 20 new acts to watch). Even back then, when things were a little looser and no so politically correct... a comedian would get crucified for pulling shit like that. I've seen an audience turn in an instant when a comedian takes it a step too far. So yeah... fuck that guy... Freedom of speech doesn't give any one a free pass to be a dick.
  6. Now double it, being able to read the top and bottom side of each platter independently.
  7. Where did you order it from? Are you in the UK?
  8. Have you done the following? Right click on 'This PC' on the desktop, and click manage Select Disk Management, wait for it to populate Can you see the drive you've installed, it will probably be greyed out, not highlighted with a blue bar like the others that you can see. On the left side, when it says 'disk 1' with 1 being whatever number it has assigned... right click and select 'New Simple Volume' Once that's done you should be able to format the drive for use within windows (right click on drive pane which should now be highlighted with a blue bar)... I'm trying to do this from memory so I apologise if any of the steps are out of order.
  9. I wouldn't go for a standard HDD for home use, I'd look at the surveillance drives, like the WD Purple or the Seagate Skyhawk Surveillance... which are a little more expensive per GB, but are designed for this exact purpose of recording video a lot. here in the UK a 2TB is around £40-60, a 3TB £65-85 and 4TB £90-110
  10. yeah, thats the one I was on about, the 1TB on ebuyer was £121 vs £82, that's closer to £40 more than £30... But it still leaves the question regarding the controller. E8 or E12.
  11. Have any of you tried running your ram at lower speeds? It's just that I have an issue with my B450 Gigabyte Aorus and issues with trying to run my Corsair Vengeance at it's rated 3200 speed... I run it at 3000 and it boots and plays games fine. I would have hoped that being on 2nd gen ryzen and an X570 board with the much higher memory support... shouldn't be an issue... But it's another thing to test.
  12. Recently my printer started playing up, and it prints these vertical lines on everything it prints and I cannot stop it. I've aligned the heads and I've cleaned the heads multiple times... I've tried every troubleshooting tip at least 4-5 times and it's made no difference... I've even tried printing in grayscale and it still prints them. There's plenty of ink, it started before I changed the cartridges and I've got no clogged nozzles, printing the nozzle sheets gives you a perfect pattern... aside from these vertical lines. Which seem to be at the start/end of each line. I wondered if it was the google docs program, so I've converted files to PDF, and it still does it... I've printed the status pages... same weird vertical lines. Any ideas what to do next... I've been searching epsons help and they don't even list this kind of effect as a problem... wider google searches come up with zero information on this specific issue either.... It's like it doesn't exist outside of my printer. See image for what I mean, ignore the black horizontal scribble, that's just obscuring the mac and serial numbers.
  13. That listing for the 1TB ADATA, doesn't even actually exist on the ebuyer website for that price... it's more than £30 more expensive... This is why I don't trust PC part picker, it's data is way out of date.
  14. My MB does have 2x M.2 slots, but if you use any M.2 it disables 2 of the sata ports... which wasn't mentioned anywhere in the sales blurb, and I had to dig through the manual to find out after I'd already built the damn thing. So I'm already down 2 SATA ports, and can't afford to lose another 2 by adding a second M.2.. If I'd known about this kind of f*ckery with the board, I never would have bought it in the first place... and given the issues I have with the stupid gigabyte dual bios randomly resetting/reverting to the backup (a known issue that wasn't aware of and gain, would have stopped me buyingt he board) and a complete inability to run the ram @3200mhz but only 3000, otherwise it resets the bios every single time (ram is good, it's been tested/swapped). I already have an issue where I cannot plug in my BDrom because I have 2x 1TB SSD's and 2x 3TB HDD's... My reasoning behind perhaps getting this 2TB one is that I can drop one of the HDD's and finally get my BDrom back without having to shut down the PC every time and swap them over. That would mean the OS is on the NVME as well as some games. I also do some transcoding stuff, so speed could be a factor there.
  15. I'm not as up to date on chipset tech as I used to be, as I no longer work in the tech industry and have fallen behind the times in some areas... So I did a little bit of reading up on the E8-12 controllers. According to the data I've see the E8 should be giving you around 1600mbps, but this has a claimed speed of 3400mbps, which would indicate it is the E12 as E8 is PCI-E 3.0x2 and E12 is PCI-E 3.0x4... and this is marketed as the latter 3.0x4... Only the E7 and E12C have the same rating with E8 and E8T being 3.0x2 E8 would also give a theoretical max capacity of 2TB... which is what these max out at. So I'm still no clearer on which one it is and the deal ends tonight... ? I've been going through the amazon reviews too, and there's plenty of conflicting info on the controller. Their website on the other hand states clearly that it's 3x4 and offers capacity up to 4TB, which 3x2 isn't capable off.
  16. According to some of the blurb... it's based on Toshibas 3D TLC
  17. Do some research on populating those M.2 slots on B450 boards... I can't speak for all of them.. but on some using the M.2 socket disables 2 of the SATA ports... so populate both M.2 slots and you lose 4 SATA ports. Only found that out after I'd bought and built my system earlier in the year... Wasn't mentioned in ANY of the materials and I had to dig into the manual to find out... Was rather pissed off as I required 5 ports plus the M.2 and to this day still can't plug in my BDrom unless I unplug a HDD. Was actually thinking of getting a 2TB NVME that's on sale so i can drop a 3TB HDD and get my BD drive back as I do actually need it without the hassle of drive swapping.
  18. There's a sale on these at the moment, but I'm not familiar with the brand... has any one actually used one before? They even do PCIE4 ones... But a 2TB is down to £187 and the 1TB is down to £82 (PCI-E 4.0 are £127 and £359 respectively so not very competitive on the larger capacity at all) transfer rate is supposed to be around 3400mnps which is pretty decent as my WD Black NMVE gets a similar speed... Would be a nice upgrade from my WDB250GB to a 2TB and allow me to drop one of my 3TB HDD's.
  19. A quick check if something is an island. is it surround on all sides by oceans or large straits... if the answer is yes... it's probably an island. Africa, is surround on three sides by oceans and the 4th is split by a man made canal and a strait... so even putting the continent part of it aside as I have for the above statement... it still couldn't be considered an island.
  20. yeah.. but mens shampoo is all, nutsack, crack, face and everything else and it all smells the same... at least womens stuff smells good. Mine got me into tresseme conditioners and it does wonders for my hair.
  21. that's a decent deal... I got my sapphire pulse 5700XT for £340 a few months ago when it was averaging a price of £420... I saw them for around £380 recently
  22. Picked up the 2019 Shield TV Pro, I've already got the 2017 version and wanted another one for the lounge that we can also take away on trips... Spending xmas away with family this year and don't want to miss out on the Witcher starting on the 20th. I could of course simply take my existing one... but I've got kodi on that highly customised and connected to my mediaserver... whilst this one will be simply connected to an external 1TB drive filled with movies... plus the one in our bedroom is filled with other kinds of plugins for our watching pleasure ?? ? ? ? and you don;t want your mother accidentally finding those.
  23. What if the cable was white with red colour... then it would look like a giant used tampon string.
