  1. $750 for server is not lot money for new server. If you build new I would stay away from intel 12 th gen- 14th gen. You can get them to work but you have disable all e cores. I have only run ryzen for xcp-ng/Proxmox For $750 I would recommend that you look for used server. Generally if want run something 24/7 would recommend that you get server. Also don't run cheap on network gear for that network. Troubleshooting flaky network gear get old. Integrated Gpu are not official supported for gpu passthough . I don't recommend passthough passthough machine only gpu. In case the host does not respond correctly. Which brings to point buying used server is likely going to have ipmi interface. So you can manage it remotely(Web browser on the local network). Between XCP-ng/ proxmox. Proxmox is easier to use for first time user. At least in my opinion. For Zen orchestra the free verison you have to compile it to your self. Zen orchestra is the web interface. XCP-ng is used a bit more professional environment. H
  2. I own Herman miller chair. On the heavier side. Been use chair for about 4 or 5 years. Have not had issue. Also Herman Miller based right in area I live
  3. The only I really says that is concern for me is billet lab video card block. LTT should responded to that. That should be own video on main channel. Not just WAN show. Using 4090 when another card should be used. They could still ran 4090. Then in follow up video that should test it with correct card. Maybe have billet lab if still willing come on show how should it be mounted. This would serve as way for LTT show that have made thing correct with vendor. If they have actioned off the part that was not part of the original deal. They should get that back. See if there something else they can give person won. I would just make the video not necessarily call out community said we should to do it. As far the other review mistakes. LTT really just needs makes sure the mistakes are looked policy changed or corrected to lessen the risk of that happening
  4. So the system in question runs Esxi 7.0. One the key system on my network. Run about 8 images all the time. One the image is Veeam so I can backup other servers for network. Then also run the image that runs tv on my network. For that system I have Evga 980 pass-though to image. That image also run plex. So it can use the video card for rendering. The machine also dual 10Gb intel nic. Then 96GB ram , plus all 3 Nvme location are use. For what worth all of the 8 of sata are in use as well. I saw that Threadripper 2970 is coming down in price. Was wonder if would actually see any mean extension in machine use life if did that. Is the 2970wx that much better then 1950. In vitrual work load? Other things that Play in role in this that memory controller on that 1950x would be overclocked running system with 8 stick ram at 2666Mhz. Then also running the cpu 3.9 Ghz(Stock is 3.2 GHz). You ran the system on full for couple hours it is stable enough to that. Prefer not run workload that is that tough. Cpu temp get bit warm. Also the machine has been operation for 37,140 hours(Track drive smart data). That comes out to 4.2 years 24/7 operation. I have checked that board does support the cpu. Reason I add in time machine been running is because sometime mainboard get weird about switching the cpu when that lot use on them. So the question do upgrade to 2970wx?
  5. I tired the nimez drivers for my AMD 7850 using to hook more display's on the computer. Had no issue loading the drivers. For reference was running windows 11 drivers for it before. Computer is running 8080k intel cpu(OC 5Ghz all core). 48Gb ram, 1070ti gpu and amd 7850, The card used to have issue render youtube video though firefox at 4k. Handle it much better. Note running youtube at 4k is tough for 1gb vram. System is reporting 94% vram usage on that card. Might have to look up video how to reapply thermal paste on card. Card has never been pulled apart. I have 6 screens attached to machine.
  6. Find out what hardware config give the best performance on topaz video enhance. Best value hardware. I understand if you buy ultra highend it will be the best
  7. So I use this program. Would not mind tech channel maybe what Hardware is good value to run this. I am currently running this on old game rig at winter. If their was better comb of hardware other then just buing ultra high-end hardware. Running on 5820k and Gigabyte 1080 extreme(Extreme = water cooling and high base gpu clocks).
  8. I am kind of newish to true Nas any pointers are welcome. I have not had any issues. For part the device is share data though iscsi(attached to esxi hosts), NFS(iso installer), and samba for to put iso on NFS share. I really don't have issues with box. I have had running 18 Gb data for hour. I have not had issue with crashing. My main question is 16 Gb ram enough?
  9. Just finished upgrade the storage in my NAS storage. Then pushing those drives to other two other computers. In the one computer I had meant to upgrade the storage when it was built that never happened till now. The item that I found scary is the good hard drive(faster). Had the word bad written on. Smart data on the drive was all messed up. The upgrade to NAS was meant so I have room to move things around virtual environment. If I need to upgrade something. After I put all the image back in the original place. The next step is move 10 tb worth of data to NAS. So I can upgrade storage in my main file server. Which is virtual image an the real issue I have the virtual disk taking up the entire disk. Which was done when I did not know what I do about virtual environments. Short version is I can not create snapshots on the images. For what it worth my True NAS storage run AMD 2700 with b550 motherboard(got one newegg shuffle wanted a video card), has 16 GB ram, 4.25 ssd storage and NVME storage, and 52TB hard drive with 250Gb nvme cache in front of it. Has dual port 10Gb Nic. The large is setup in single array party so one drive can fail and the entire thing does not fail.
  10. My guess is when I cleaned the fans dust got hub and killed the fans
  11. I have computer that is basically lab machine. When I built the machine I put in case that case $75. The case is actually pretty solid case. Because I record how long my computer run the computer about 2 year of service. If that was contentious service. Well the computer locked up one day. Turns the reason was that 4 of 6 fans had gone bad. One fan had completely locked in place. The other 3 the fans moved however much lower speed then it should have. The fans always spun full speed. The thing is the fans did not really make any extra noise. The case is cleaned every year. It was cleaned 1st week January and everything was fine. Well the computer just got 6 NZXT fans.Yes the old fans rgb. But being the machine is treated more as server then all thing else never had rgb on anyway. So the lesson of day is don't be cheap on the fans For what it worth the hardware is 3700x with asus b450 prime board with 64 GB ram.Seasonic 650w gold power supply, 5tb ssd and 16 TB Hard drives. Runs ESXI 7 as os. It might be odd choice for mainboard especially with that OS. However it the machine does run problem free for months at time/.
  12. Got new video card AMD 6900xt /w 5820k. Right now I am testing in my old 5820k retuned the machine. Put new thermal paste. Redid the cpu OC. I have not tired OC the video card yet. This video card final home is going to be in AMD 5600x cpu. However I wanted to benchmark the card in the old rig to see what the difference would be. Good to see this 5820k can still handle it own. I built the machine back on 7/10/2015. Still running all the original parts. I have add Samsung 970 evo 1tb machine. For this run it was running off Samsung 950 evo 250gb. The My id bobjones003-2. I am current number 1 in that setup on timespy Search (3dmark.com)
  13. I just finished watch Hardware unboxed video. I thought it was far to nvidia they did ray tracing video the next day. I actually liked that as they went into more detail. Kept both video around 15-20 minutes.
  14. I am pretty sure I will no longer be recommending Dell computers to Friends and Family that don't buy things from website. I do IT work for local company and buy the computer from Dell, I have really not had a problem with them but I buy most of them website. When I need something built in certain way or I need something by short day we do have our rep. The point of me saying this is I have not had this problem with Dell. However that being side I would not what friends or family go though that experience. The one tidbit is back when intel cpu were hard to buy. They did sell AMD based Optiplex. It was 1 gen Ryzen. It was about that long ago, In order to buy the system you had to have Rep that knew of it existence. I am not sure if they sell current Ryzen Cpu in similar matter. As know I can buy 8th gen have them on site in 2 weeks. Intel 8th gen is cheaper then 10th gen and most of users of these system notice. As we basically going to websites on intranet and Office. Note that Dell has begin to stop selling 8th gen models.
  15. I don't block telemetry but do have things block in the host file use spybot. never had alert and I am running windows 10 2003. HarrNyquist Ubuntu has telemetry in as while,. Also Mac os has telemetry as well. Just something to use to.
  16. You really shouldn't be setting static voltages for Ryzen, if you can with your use case just enable PBO and be done with it. - That what this session was to find static voltage which would would be set 1.285 on the chip. Also from my testing PBO is not as fast as the overclock I have on my chip. The other item to remeber this machine is not running windows as the host os. IT is running ESXI. ESXI would just ran the chip at 3.5 ghz. So if set all core overclock it will run at that speed. Which in this case is 4.2 GHZ. B4Quattro - My guess is that would be safe voltage. As to get my max temps I ran intel burn test which abuse the chip. 4.35 is nice overclock. I have had the my chip at 4.3 ghz when I was testing seemed fine. However I would not want it as 24/7 overclock as their would be workloads that would make my chip run past TJ. So If wanted to push it harder and keep that way. I would have to go custom loop. As some times I do video render on that chip and want to ran that and not worry about it.
  17. When built this machine I believe in November time frame. I set all core overclock of 4.2GHZ. Basically left board full auto. Finally got some time to tune the voltage better. On this system It was running ESXI 7.0. IT has two gpus on AMD rx480 8gb edition and Nvidia 2070 Super(evga). It also setup two run keyboard and 2 mouse. So this machine can run 2 os and run them different screens and be used by 2 device. This machine was setup like and running since November. When the machine on virtualization mode I do not not know the temp of cpu or the voltage. Other then to reboot and go to bios. I was able to know some idea of temp via gpu's temp and coolant temps from aio. Which Corsair 280mm. I can also control all of the RGB on machine in virtualization. I can not control the ram rgb for what it worth. Tridient Royal RGB(4 x16GB DDR 4 3800). It was the best value with the spec I wanted at the time. So I finally took some time to tune better. Took extra ssd and loaded Windows 10 natively on the machine. When the machine first started. It was running 4.2 ghz running at 1.45 volt on the vcore. When running intel burn test it was running 4gb of ram it was 110 c. Reported by Ryzen Master yes I know that is over TJ for the cpu. Ryzen Master was also reporting the cpu was running at 280 watts. Hwinfo 64 read the same. I then reset the bios to normal. Confirmed that temp(67c) was normal and voltage. All max temps are test via intel burn test as it was the worst case. Also tested PBO and Autoover clock. Then when back to tuning(4.2 ghz) to get the voltage. At the end day I got it running stable at 4.2 ghz at 1.285 voltage core. Now the max temp is 87c and runs at max wattage for 180 watts. I got the machine r20 score to 9433 and intel burn test score of 198 Gflops. 3dmark time spy cpu score 13901. Time spy Overall score was 10122(stock gpu setting). For what worth the machine would run stable at 4.2 GHz and 1.25 Voltage core. However the Intel burn test score went down to 175 Gflops. Looking at Silicon lottery looks I might have unicorn AMD 3950x(3950X 4.15GHz 1.200V Top 19%) . For it worth the I am running cpu AMD x570 MSI creation. When I built the machine I knew I was going to abuse it. So wanted board that would take the punishment. So far this board has held up. The only issue with the board RGB does not work. The RGB never worked on board. After all this tuning the we decided to play Civ 6 in lan and then Unreal tournament 3 for 12 hours. Of course having two people on the machine. Question I am wonder if AMd3950x what type overclocks were you able to do on the chip? I wonder the speed of the chip and voltage?
  18. Amd 1600 AF. Finally got the ram working right. Had to force retraining of the ram. Then the ram ran correct at 3200 at XMP decide to overclock the CPU. IT was running AMD wraith cooler(from 3700x). It had max temp of 78c via intel burn test. This test it ran at 72c, Motherboard was ASRock b450 pro
  19. So one my main machine that I use to work and gaming had sound issue on one video cards. Then I put USB card in it that allow me to push each usb port into the machine. The card has 4 USB port. This machine also has two GPU's on it. One the GPU is Nvidia Super 2070(EVGA) and the other GPU is AMD RX 480(XFX 8gb). So the Nvidia card once I hid the image was virtualized works wonderful. However AMD RX 480 had issue with sound dropping every once in while. So this machine has two main images. One image is the Gaming image which is connected to 2070 Super that image has never had any issue. That image was meant to be gaming image. However I was asked upscale some content from 480p to 1080. The program that use to do can use cuda to do that. As far this application trans-coding 2070 super is second fasted card in my house. My VR rig is the fastest. which runs Gigabyte 1080 Extreme ( extreme stand for water cooling). Before anyone comment I have down bunch of bench-marking and my 2070 super perform dead center any 3dmarks benchmark that I though at it. Compared to other 2070 Super, My 1080 card back in day performed top of the stack at one point it was 52 place in 3dmark timespy(It might be slight overclocked). Get back to what actually posted this for is the other image is meant for more work stuff(remoting into machine) ,browsing the web, some video content while work or do gaming. This is the image that had the sound problem. This bugged me so. Every once in while the sound would drop out the image. It usually accorded somewhere around 4-6 hours. It did not matter if was being used. So the image was actually up. This had been issue since built the machine. This machine has never natively run Windows 10. I tired lot of things to try fix it none of worked to fix. I knew that issue had be something with the video card as 2070 super never had that issue. Even when assigned the card to the image that ran image that was meant for AMD rx480. I did not want place that video card as really for work load that I was going present to it should work wonderfully. However Until Last week MSI dropped beta bios that fixed sound issues for AMD RX480. For the most part I figure my AMD RX 480 is really similar to RX 570. The bios patch fixed the issue. I guess I no longer have reason to replace that card when new graphic card get released later this year. For most part I would figured that I share this. The spec of the system I talked about in this post are CPU AMD 3950x(OC to 4.3 GHZ all core) , Mainboard MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION(10GB Lan that is support in ESXI 6.7 or better), GPU EVGA 2070 Super and XFX RX 480, RAM 64GB trident Royal DDR 3600, 2 1TB Sabrient gen 4,2 x samsung 960 evo 1tb ssd, 3 tb HDD, Usb card that support passthough,Case NXT H710,Power Supply Seasonic 800w and Cpu cooling Corsiar h115i. What I could use some help is new computer case that has better airflow then NXT h710. Temps are can get very warm when doing video process and gaming on the other card.
  20. I am glad that worked. If you feel like tinker little bit see if ram will at higher speed. It still might not ran at the xmp ram speed. I kept bumping my ram speed up each step. I also ended up add more voltage to ram to get run at 2933mhz(This could damage ram. I ran mine at 1.45v) When I did this I still had the XMP ram timing set. When I first tired to do this I did not do this and I could not machine to run stable. As the board would auto select it ram timing lower then XMP. I will add that I was using ASrock board when did this. I am not 100% some the other mainboards that this would be that easy. The Asrock board let me set timings from XMP and change ram speed.
  21. That is lot of Transistors. For what it worth the machine is running Vsphere 7. Both guest image are Windows 10. For mainboard running Msi Prestige x570 Creation, 64 GB DDR 4 3600, 2 1tb sabrient gen 4 nvme ssd, 1 tb Samsung 960 pro, and 4tb western digital green hard drive. Running Corsair 280 mm rad. The computer is driving 3 4k screens and 3 2 screens.
  22. I think it is the high core count cpu plus video cards running at loads
  23. You might what to try to run the ram at 2666mhz. Which all that cpu is rated to ran the ram at then try overclocking the cpu. IF that work see which way it runs better. I have Ryzen 1600af that was had similar issues. I back the ram back to that speed. Then cpu was overclock. Since then I managed to get ram back up to 2933 with xmp timings on ram. I had to push the voltage up on the ram. Ram ddr4 3200.
  24. I have Ryzen 3950 running all core at 4.2 ghz. I Have system in NZXT 710 case. I had to take the top of the case off to so that it can push out all the heat. I have the system underneath table on plastic line so it does suck up carpet dust. At the moment I am running video rendering on the nvidia 2070 super. Topaz AI. Up casting some old recorderings to 1080. On the other image I am running Video games and youtube. That image uses AMD rx480 8gb edition. The image was only meant for watching shows doing work stuff. So remote into machines and access web page to control them. I have the cpu at about 75% load. What I learned is that machine can push out some heat.I can feel that top of table that machine that underneath is warm to the touch. Seems very stable. Although when the new video cards get released the AMD rx480 gpu is going to get retired. No really so much problem just not use to machine pushing out so much heat.
