  1. I also wanted to remove Windows files on the hard drive once I've confirmed Windows is set up on the SSD, so he only has access to his games and old documents. Removing the EFI would just mean, say after a CMOS reset, the BIOS wouldn't accidentally boot to the now corrupted Windows install on the hard drive
  2. I have a friend who is currently using a hard drive as his boot disk. I tried to get him to use an SSD instead, but he swapped back because his games/settings/etc weren't there I was planning on using diskpart to remove the EFI partition so the hard drive would no longer act as the boot disk but the data was still accessible. Would this work? Would it stop the BIOS from trying to boot to the hard drive, or is there another approach I could take to turn the hard drive into a simple data disk without removing any of the existing data?
  3. I've had the misfortune of using Bing because it's the default search engine for Edge Bing's problem is it's full of pop-ups and features, the UI is cluttered and barely usable, compared to Google, even by Google's rather slack standards today Microsoft need to remove things from Bing, not add them, if they want people to even consider using it
  4. AMD says the RX 6600 requires a 450w PSU minimum Your PSU is 550w and a Seasonic, you should be fine
  5. I managed to get an i5-6400, h110 mobo and 16gb ram for £100 all in Judging by this video, I got a good deal
  6. The best CPU for your socket is a 9900k, although it's over 3 years old now. An i5 12600k is a good choice, which motherboard you choose depends on whether you want to keep your DDR4 or DDR5
  7. 120 euro cheaper? Definitely worth going for the i5, at least imo
  8. Pretty sure that's a techlinked shirt on an LTT set
  9. I still watch YouTube with ads like a chump, but they've got so disruptive and annoying I'm just considering moving to newpipe or something
  10. Np, just next time make sure you backup all your important data. I use OneDrive because it's free and integrated with Windows, has saved my ass a couple of times
  11. You could take the SSD to a data recovery specialist, as it's likely that most of your stuff is inaccessible otherwise Do you know how to create a Linux live disk? You could use that to test whether the hardware still works and try accessing some of your SSD if the data isn't corrupted
  12. Sounds like a problem with either the Windows install or the storage itself How old is the laptop? Does it have an SSD or HDD? It's probably worth a fresh windows reinstall
