  1. What do your display/AA & PP settings look like? It's definitely bottlenecking, but he should still be getting more than 10fps.
  2. Generally very GPU intensive $60 games like Dragon Age Inquisition, Assassin's Creed Unity, The Crew, Far Cry 4, BF4, etc.
  3. I hope I didn't mislead you, the card is great for light/medium games at 1080p and light games at 4k but it's not amazing. If you want to max out 1080p AAA titles I'd go for a 280x/290.
  4. I run a 4k and 900p display with an R9 270 (equivalent to a bit more than 4 and a half 1080p displays) and I have no vram issues, runs every game just fine at 1080p, CS:GO (source game) runs over 90fps nearly maxed out at 4k (no AA).
  5. R9 270 or R9 280 are good choices
  6. Easily, I run most of my games at 4k with an R9 270 at decent settings (CS:GO, WoW, Arma 3, ETS 2, Assetto Corsa, Dirt 3). Intensive AAA games aren't really playable though
  7. This story is pretty well known http://imgur.com/gallery/nb9OL8l 99.999999% of people probably don't know of where I live though
  8. 5 up is pretty much a recommended minimum by most streamers for a very stable, high quality stream. You probably don't need to upgrade.
  9. Xeon E3 1231 v3 is essentially a locked i7 with no iGPU, I'd get that over both of those choices if you aren't overclocking. A cheaper option for just gaming is i5-4440/4460, which is a bit worse than a 4690k (while both at stock) and is locked, but quite a bit cheaper.
  10. i3-4160 is great for modern titles as long as you don't have something over ~280x/770 for your graphics card.
  11. Your CPU is probably a huge bottleneck, that's what I'd upgrade first (you'll need a new motherboard, CPU, and ram though).
  12. Underclocking your GPU doesn't help...
  13. If you mainly video edit, and you play easy-to-run games, AND you cannot afford a Xeon E3 1231 v3 and an H81 motherboard (very similar cost to an 8350 and a decent motherboard), then an 8350 won't be a horrible option. By the way, just for reference, a 4690k has very similar fully multithreaded performance to an 83xx when both overclocked http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/285199-harrynowls-ultimate-cpu-showdown-wip/
  14. i3 is quite a bit better in most CPU intensive games as it has hyperthreading. I'd only go G3258 if you're upgrading to an i5/i7 soon after.
  15. Why? 7970 is essentially a 280x, which is better than a 280.

GTX 970, worth the money it's selling for? Even…

Nvidia really doesn't have any good options for triple monitors all things considered. 290(x) is just too good to go otherwise. If he refuses to go AMD ask him why and tell him why he's wrong.
  17. 840 Evo/MX100/SP900 Up to you whether or not you want to return it, I would test the speeds first (Crystal Disk Mark) to see if you got a good one or not, if you got a bad one, I'd return it.
  18. 660 > 750ti performance wise, but if you can, definitely get the 280x since it destroys all of the aforementioned cards.
  19. All the ones who say GPU isn't nearly as important as CPU and are selling a 'gaming' PC with i7's and 650's.
  20. There are really no future proof graphics cards unless you plan 3-4 way crossfire/sli in the future, and in that case, 290x 8GB. In your situation, I'd just get another 760 if you really don't want to sell yours.
  21. Under 62c is generally recommended, but I think some people go a little bit higher for stress testing though, not completely sure.
  22. Yes it's relatively bad compared to other options (if you got one of the ones with the crappy flash), but it's faster than a hard drive at least.
  23. My friend has a prebuilt PC (sigh) and he wants to actually play decently demanding games and his power supply is pretty bad of course, so I need to find out what the best 750ti is without a 6 pin power connector is so he can just plug and play. I was thinking the EVGA one http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-02gp43751kr He has a 1440x900 monitor and an A6-3650 btw.
  24. How is it not value? The i5-4440 is the best price:performance gaming CPU in that price bracket, hands down.
