  1. So are you wanting to use the USB port on the back of the router or a Network Attached storage (NAS) device?
  2. Depends on how you are wanting to do the backups. One of the simpliest solutions as mentioned before is to get a external harddrive and use software utileties or simply drag and drop essential files. If your wanting to make sure your data is completly safe, offsite backups is a good way to go. This could be somethign as simple as uploading your files to Dropbox, Google drive or onedrive (Be carefull most of these services state in the terms and conditions that anything you upload becomes there property) There is other serivices avaible for "cloud backups" but if you are looking to do it all yourself, software tools such as RSYNC that transfers data over SSH that can be automated with a simple CRON Job might be the way to go. All basically depeneds on how much you want to invest into it
  3. I think Sam is talking about the hardware/software used to host a site not the content such as the HTML or PHP files. There is basically 2 ways to do this, The simpliest route is to go to a hosting company, Companies like SquareSpace give you the tools to build your website were other companies allow you FTP access and allow you to host what ever you want. If you are wanting to "do it all yourself" weather it be hosting a Virtual machine/Dedicated server in a datacenter or hosting it on your own hardware the combination of linux and apache gives a versitile platform for your content hosting needs.
  4. Issue solved Some of the guides recomend that you don't give the account that access's the server a shell which basically stops RDIFF from running. I knew it would be something that simple
  5. I know there is adapters aviablbe for the cars 12v power that ends in a plug socket, I'm not 100% sure it will be comptiable though.
  6. Have you treid to contact Razer? I'm sure they will have a solution for you
  7. It's more than lickley that your router is either giving something else priorty through QoS or there is something interfering with the singal such as a microwave. Have you treid using a wireless device closer to the router and see if you have the same issues.
  8. Hello, So after a few dozen hours of troubleshooting I am stil at a loss. I am setting up a backup system from a local system to a remote server, I have all the users configured and the account is succesully connecting to the server, the only issue I am facing right now is when I attempt to run a backup it brings up the following error: Fatal Error: Truncated header string (problem probably originated remotely)Couldn't start up the remote connection by executing ssh -C kimsufi rdiff-backup --serverRemember that, under the default settings, rdiff-backup must beinstalled in the PATH on the remote system. See the man page for moreinformation on this. This message may also be displayed if the remoteversion of rdiff-backup is quite different from the local version (1.2.8). After running echo $path I get: /usr/local/sbin /usr/local/bin /usr/sbin /usr/bin /sbin /bin /usr/games rdiff-backup is installed in /usr/bin: I'm at a loss at this point, part of me is saying its straight up not connecting to the remote server but I can manually connect to it.
  9. Running through it with a freind of mine that has done it before. Thanks for you help guys
  10. I don't, Just literly following the guide. Would it be better if that is set it as the backup account?
  11. Yeah thats it, I accessed the other account using su -m
  12. Yeah, sorry. The command its saying to run is ssh-copy-id -i ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub root@server1.domain.com
  13. Hello, So I am currently trying to setup an RDIFF backup from one ubuntu server to another, am following this guide: [LINK] and about half way thorugh creating the keys it asks you ro send the key to the other server, the problem seems to be it is using my personal account instead of the one created for the backup. I've tried ediiting the path a couple of times but it must be something to do with the command that is causing the isssue and this is my first time messing with this stuff. Any help would be much appriciated Kind Regards, Sean
  14. That would be awesome, represent Linus in the workplace!
