  1. According to this review you should be able to do 2560x1440 max settings pretty much and see nothing below 40fps ... http://www.hardocp.com/article/2015/09/21/xfx_r9_390_double_dissipation_8gb_video_card_review/5#.V3Y1y6LMA9p In your screenshot it shows 89c with 100% fan speed ... i think your card is overheating. That hardOCP review shows much cooler temps of 70c with only 50% fan speed. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2015/09/21/xfx_r9_390_double_dissipation_8gb_video_card_review/5#.V3Y1OqLMA9o Perhaps applying some new thermal grease to the xfx card will solve the issue.
  2. I've been checking the interwebs for reviews since the card is suppose to be released on the 29th, yet no midnight reviews. When is the NDA lifted ?
  3. Nexus 5 battery life is a joke. Not worth imo. Hauwei seems to have some of the best bang for your buck phones. Might be able to find a good deal on a Samsung S5 or HTC one.
  4. 850w+. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/nvidia_geforce_gtx_titan_x_review,8.html
  5. Yeah, 25" max for 1080p imo. I bought a 1080p 27" ... beautiful monitor but the low dpi was so apparent that I returned it. Got a 24" and it's great. HP makes some nice 25" IPS displays.
  6. chkdsk logs are apparently at ... Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> Application -> Wininit
  7. Looks good. SSD wise, just don't get the kingston V300 series and you should be all good. Crucial line is generally rock solid. A-data, Sandisk are generally great performance for less money. Intel and Samsung are generally more expensive but worth it in some cases.
  8. Any antec, corsair, evga, seasonic rated at 80plus bronze or higher will do the trick.
  9. Goto cmd prompt as admin ... type sfc /scannow , that will check for any corruption in the o/s. You can download a program called HDTune which has a health section to let you know of anything that might be going wrong. Your laptop should have a hard drive and memory diagnostic utility. You can usually check memory from the bios. Check acer site for some HDD utility. You can run chkdsk as well ... https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2641432 Check the performace tab in task manager to make sure a program isn't hoggin resources. Also, check if there's any overheating with a program such as this ... http://openhardwaremonitor.org/
  10. Have you tried other gpu oc programs ? Asus gpu tweak is another that comes to mind. Scores / clocks of the R7 260x are found at Hwbot.org http://hwbot.org/hardware/videocard/radeon_r7_260x/ Few guys have theirs at the mid/upper 1300's on air as well. Just check the rankings and sort through. Pics are included on some setups. Nice overclock though !
  11. Just OC as high as you can w/o your voltage change. Should be able to get 500 - 600mhz. Will help out any GPU you have in there quite a bit. I did that with my E2200 2.2ghz back in the day. Didn't have an aftermarket cooler yet so I just oc'd to 2.75ghz and it was stable and temps were really cool.
  12. Asus R9 270 Core : 1140mhz (950mhz stock) ... Driver crashes at 1150mhz so I dialed back to 1140mhz and it holds. Mem : 6700mhz (5600mhz stock) ... Driver crashes at 6750mhz so I dialed back to 6700mhz and it holds. Volts : 1215mv stock ... Can go up to 1240mv but I haven't bothered yet. Kept CPU down at 4.5ghz during overclocking CPU just to isolate gpu crashing during the overclocking process. ASIC quality indicates my GPU to be a bad overclocker, however, this seems unproven as a measurement and has been confirmed by other posters in other forums.
  13. 120gb Kingston V300 has poor write speeds. They did a bait'n'switch with the Nand flash a while back. I would choose a differenet SSD.
  14. Quick Update ... I downloaded an older version of Asus GPU Tweak and it allows me to adjust the voltage. Albeit, only from 1.215v up to 1.245v.
  15. Right on. Got my bios saved. Now lets hope I don't brink this thing. MSI afterburner is the most popular. Works with all cards. http://gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner
  16. Hey guys, I have the Asus R9 270 with a nice OC on it with stock voltages. I would like to push it a bit further cause that's part of the fun ! I scoured the internet the other day and couldn't find to much regarding this GPU. Some people say that over-volting can't be done. Might come down to the particular card. I also tried changing MSI Afterburner in the registry and txt editing but that didn't work. Also tried Sapphire Trixx and Asus Tweak OC software and those have the volt option inactive. Grabbed the MSI Afterburner Beta as well, tried old revisions. HardOCP did a review where they said they were able to get +100mv along with the +20% power limit. No biggie, just thought i'd inquire.
  17. Ram speed doesn't really matter. You can go as high as 1.7v safely on DDR2. Max safe voltage for the Exxx 45nm is roughly 1.45v 24/7 use. You chould be able to get 3.8ghz - 4.0ghz. Perhaps 4.2ghz if you have a good chip and power.
  18. Best to follow along with youtube videos. Flashing the rom is the ez part ! It's getting it ready up to that point that can be a bit confusing. Once you get the rom flashing part down you can sit there all day and try different roms.
  19. via google if not that, via pcwizard. if not that, via everest.
  20. You get a code right away from this link ... https://contests.nvidia.com/en-us/rainbow-six-siege-giveaway
  21. G3258 + HD 7750 ... 100% CPU usage w/o recording. 96% GPU usage on low end card. Quad core is definetly accurate. HD 7750 does the trick but that's only low settings and hits 30fps dips. i3 or Quad core + HD 7770 / GTX 560 Ti seems more accurate as a minumum.
  22. Damn. Had I known that I wouldn't have pre-ordered !
  23. If you have a chance to goto Uni, you goto Uni. imo. You can do certs in your downtime.
