  1. im not sure whats going on, i have tried everything in the book and no dice. i have checked the ram, reseated the cpu, and gpu. my power supply is good, but i cant get it to boot. on top of this i cant find any sort of debug leds on the motherboard. what do, please help!
  2. Dont know where this would belong on the forum. Figured i would put it in general just because. Does anyone know what i up with this? signed into floatplane today and say the kobito ultimate package.... almost tempted to buy it just to see what is behind the pay wall..... but y'know 1337 japanese yen no idea what that is in american at the moment.
  3. alright, i see i will have to be a little more clear. i am suggesting, that you put a pc, which has chilled liquid cooling. Into a bath of mineral oil in order to prevent condensation build up. Since when you go sub ambient on the chiller, you are more than likely to get some condensation. Like you have a gpu and cpu block on a test bench, and set the whole rig in a mineral oil bath. preventing any risk of condensation build up. alternatively you could use a novec solution. however i dont know how novec reacts with water. specifically novec 7000
  4. there are many different novec fluids. novec7000 is designed for low temperatures, they use different fluids for the novec pcs you see. I am suggesting using novec 7000 as an insulator for a subzero pc. with tubes leading to a cpu block and gpu block
  5. i am wondering how thick, if it gets solid at a point it could potentially act as a barrier for any condensation. otherwise, the novec 7000 is a potentially good solution.
  6. You have all seen the video by now. great stuff. My question is, could they submerge their pc in mineral oil to prevent condensation build up? anyone know how mineral oil behaves at low temperatures? I had just heard on the gamers nexus live stream that linus was invited by a brewery to use their industrial chillers. I was thinking this is a possibly a good way to prevent condensation build up. ALTERNATIVELY. There is novec 7000 which can operate in temps as low as -120 Celsius. Only problem is i have no idea how it interacts with water. http://www.me.umn.edu/courses/me4331/FILES/NOVEC7000.pdf
  7. its definitely worth delidding. however on a cpu like the 7700k you are gonna want to buy a legitimate delid tool. dont just wing it and use a razor blade. conductonaut is arguable the best liquid metal. i used silicone adhesive to put the ihs back on.
  8. a system can vary up to 16 CB points depending on the background load. well within margin of error.
  9. to go against the grain here, i would pick up the 1060, in fact i did for my little brothers build. the 3gb version. if you are playing 1080p at 60hz you wont need anymore than a 1060 6gb to operate effectively. although perhaps not at that price point. i would ebay a 1060 friendo. than take the cooler off and replace the stock thermal compound with some good stuff, mx-4 or kryonaut. i got my 1060 off ebay for less than 200. worth the cash in my opinion considering its only 1080p gaming.
  10. reference time 5:24 just in case it doesnt send you there in the embedded video. i suggest delidding the thing and you should be able to pick up a cheaper cooler without much worry.
  11. I hope i am not breaking any rules by linking to toms hardware. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems 20 steps one should go through. every time i have posted before in regards to something like this, i am linked to this. try 1 stick of ram in the b2 slot. you could have a defective cpu with odd lane support, or a bad stick of ram. but i will say that there is usually just one little thing that is preventing a post.
  12. personally i would like to see something like this done. it is in no way practical but it would sure look cool. you could theme it aswell.
  13. as it turns out the 1st ram channel on the motherboard took a dive. so using just the 2nd and 3rd ram channel got it to boot.
  14. the 1000 watt power supply is a remnant of the days when i was rocking dual r9 390s. those things where power hungry when crossfire actually managed to work. still no where near the performance of a 1080 ti anyway.
  15. im in a nzxt source 530 full tower. i have a bunch of liquid cooling shoved in there so it is very cramped for my hard drives. i wanted to attach a set of hard drive trays on the radiator or along the bottom of the case. ps the 760 is no longer in the system dont get triggered.
  16. yes i have cleared the cmos, i will try again though just for the heck of it. i have also tried with just 1 stick of ram. EDIT: tried to clear cmos again, didnt work. might go buy a new battery and test that out aswell.
  17. the 4770k and 4790k are still perfectly good. if you want a boost in performance just buy a delid tool and put some liquid metal on it. with proper liquid cooling, you can reach stock 7700 performance on these chips.
  18. I have been trying to get this system up and running for a few weeks now. initially i thought the beep was the sign of a bad power supply. i returned the power supply and get a replacement. however when i put the new power suppy in, its still giving me the beep. i am beginning to think its the cpu. So here are some specifics. the build is a i5-4690k/ga-z97-hd3, i took it out of my previous build when i upgraded to an i7. im putting the components in a corsair 200r, with a 1060 3gb. its supposed to be a fortnite build for my little brother. it was working just fine before i put it in this new case. and now it seems to be upset. the cpu has been delidded, so that might cause the problem aswell. as of now whenever i try to power on it just beeps at me continuously. i am at the point where i am considering buying a pentium g4400 and putting it in there. What do you all think?
  19. opposite of this, i need the the hard drives to mount to something that than attatches to the space in a case that a 120mm fan would go. or on the 120mm spots on a radiator. no fan needed in this, it just needs to fit into the spot a fan would fit.
  20. So here is the conundrum i am facing. whenever i search for a mounting bracket, that will hold 2, 3.5, 2tb drives, all i find is old fashioned hard drive cages. i need a mount that will fit right into a 120mm fan slot. i would like to mount my hard drives to my case or radiator but i cant find anything on my own. although i am continuing my search, i figured i would touch bases here and see if anyone knew of anything good. cheers and thanks
  21. to be quite frank, a lot of people still have 7 or 9 series cards. so the wait was well worth it. 1080 ti owners will have to wait and see how the performance stacks up to determine whether an upgrade is worth it or not. as for anyone on a previous gen card, they can now purchase the cheap 10 series cards that are flooding the market.
  22. Whats with the disdain for used hardware? I hooked up a friendo of mine with a 280usd 1070 off ebay. Just message the seller with more questions than you should, and you should be golden. Can always return, ebay is great on returns. Just a thought. i mean i picked up my 1080ti off ebay a week before christmas during the mining craze for 660usd. just gotta monitor those bids.
  23. yeah i agree with matus, just oc your cpu. if your having thermal issues, delid your cpu. its cheaper to delid, apply liquid metal/thermal paste, and get lower temps. than it is to buy a new chipset, ddr4 and the chip itself. even upgrading to a large aio, or liquid cooling would be less expensive. your 4790k is far from obsolete my friend. also, what motherboard do you have installed? your power delivery could be garbage and you may want to upgrade to a nice z87 motherboard rather than upgrade to a new chipset.
