  1. This is a little bit of a touchy topic, as AMD and Intel measure thermals differently. What are you using to measure your temps?

In HW Info you have CPU, CPU Die, CPU CCD1, and CPU CCD2 on a 3900x. CPU is the number more comparable to intel, CPU Die is just CCD1 + CCD2 divided by 2, and the individual CCD numbers are higher than CPU. Picture provided for reference.

Between the stock cooler, a Dark Rock Pro 4, and a 280mm Liquid Freezer II, my temps literally did not change. However, with each upgrade power draw and performance went up as the CPU boosts higher. That is just how AMD's boosting algorithm works, those temperatures are more than safe and acceptable.

And another note, CCD1 will almost always be warmer because those are the threads 0-12 (on the 3900x). Those are the ones loaded first by the system.

    Why is that?

It is the most convenient way to ensure that the person servicing your device does not have access to your data. Removing the drives grants physical access to the media, which is a no-no.

However, if ***you*** remove the drive prior to sending it out, they will not deny the service. Or, they have not in the past.

just went to the service center and. I had a problem with my battery bloating, and the service center said that they had to remove the battery BUT they said that this would most likely remove all my data. I asked if they could remove the ssd and they said no. Juat wondering, can you remove the hard drive, or are they scamming me

Apple service centers wipe your storage to comply with data security laws. That is what they were referring to.

yeaf there is no difference between the US and the compnany aiding the chinese government which has forced millions of people in labour camps, illegally occupying Hong Kong, murdering dissenters 🙄

Gotta hand it to western news outlets for twisting the story.

British-occupied HK and the PRC (Mainland china) forged the Sino-British Joint Declaration. This declaration, signed in 1997, stated that HK would remain capitalist and function under the "One Country Two Systems" system until 2047. China has debated the legitimacy of the document publicly since 2017, but has never acted against it under threat from the British and later the US (for some reason).

Public denouncement of the law by PRC officials doesnt go much deeper than China's own borders regardless. The G7 (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States) have voted to uphold the Sino-British Joint Declaration. This encompasses the 7 most influential countries in the world, minus China itself.

Annex II of the SBJD created the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group, which were to be in charge of handling democratic matters between the HKSAR (Hong Kong), and the PRC. This group mutually dissolved in 2000, and thus (as the PRC argues), the declaration is invalidated. If this were tried in the US, there is a high chance the PRC would be sided with for this reason.

Though my sample size is small, i have several friends in HK and none of them understand the point of the protests and consider themselves Chinese people. HK *is* chinese property, nobody who has read the laws should disagree with this.. While the PRC did arguably act out of line in their handling of the protests, it is just as arguable that those who partook in them had stepped out of line, *especially* since the bill that sparked them did nothing but allowed HK and Taiwan residents to be extradited to mainland china for crimes committed on the mainland. This is a decades if not centuries old concept, and one nearly every western country practices.

This is very on edge of the political conversation rule, and thus i have done by best to stick to simply explaining the facts of the situation rather than my own opinions.

  5. First and foremost, LTT is not known as a channel that specializes in data analysis for a simple reason. They aren't. While a lot of their data is probably fine, minus CPU Coolers (where i would not trust anybody who isnt GN), thats just not what LTT aims to be.

However, as others have said, their data is more than good enough, especially if you compare within LTT's data set, which you should be doing anyways. In terms of thermals measurements in this industry, everybody does it differently. Do not cross compare if you want to draw an accurate conclusion.

If you mean Adobe Premiere, Titans are 'work' cards & would be better suited to this task.

As @SenKa said, that one may be a bit long in the tooth to still be efficient.

Small correction. nVidia has removed the differentiation at the driver level between GTX/RTX and Titan cards. The only difference is raw core count, clocks, and memory capacity/bandwidth. Also, Quadro is more "work" and Titan is more "enthusiast" 😛

What kind of stuff do you take?

I can't take all in one computers, or monitors. Its a simple logistics issue with inability to properly dispose of them if i end up having to. But, other than that i haven't ran in to anything else I've had to turn down. Laptops, phones, tablets, desktops, ect...

  8. Basically as everybody else said.

However, if youre within the US I would like to plug myself. I run a small local business refurbishing devices and giving them away to kids who cant afford them, have been out of stock almost consistently since COVID started and nobody is getting rid of anything at the moment due to the economy.

  9. Im booting off a 240GB SATA SSD for the time being, as i dont need the extra storage. However, i can tell you that I have 50GB left on the drive, with nothing but Windows and my apps installed.

I wouldnt go smaller, but 240 is enough so long as you dont intend on loading all your games on your boot drive.

Nah, he said it was crap and they dont want it to be released. You can easily create your own that would be better than what they came up with.

To add to that. He also said he intends to redo it and release it at some point.

EDIT: Here is the link to a model that seems good. I can offer no personal merit to it, as I have not used it. https://grabcad.com/library/casemaker-4u-rack-mount-custom-pc-1

Really can’t beat an unlocked Bafang for price/performance. (Can go 52v) Pair with a hard tail and pannier. Those radwagons just look terrible.

I like the looks personally, and my issue is finding a long hardtail frame to base off of regardless. Mongoose Envoy is as close as i have found, and thats still a $900 bike.

Can't put a price on the freedom that having a vehicle to drive gives you. And being in college, I would want something to go out with friends in and pick up a date with. If economics are an issue, maybe just downsize to something like a Miata that gets decent mileage and has an actual air conditioner. No way in hell would I give up a vehicle with actual AC and heat. Do you really want to arrive at class all sweaty?

Issues are less gas mileage and more paying for parking + the INSANE insurance cost for my age bracket. (18-24). Bikes don't have to pay for parking, or insurance, and registration is free. My jeep already doesn't have AC 😛

That said, why not just get a moped? They get insanely good MPG and you can actually drive them in traffic so you can get where you want much faster. Sure, you don't get any exercise but you can just get a normal bike for nice days when you want some. They are pretty cheap too. You could get something like this.

I considered it. What makes the difference for me is commuting throughout my very large campus. An e-bike can be used on campus sidewalks, mopeds can't. While minor, its still a massive convenience buff for me. Also, mopeds require state registration, which DOES have a small fee.

Sorry, I know I'm suggesting something other than what you asked but I do genuinely think a moped makes more sense if you really can't bring a vehicle with you... I would just use your phone for any GPS or music needs to help keep costs down.

Not a problem, always open to hearing ideas i may not have thought of otherwise! It just so happens this is one that i have already thought through. And the extraneous features more meant GPS tracking of the bike in my head. That is a feature on more expensive bikes.
