Hi,
Thinking about getting an OLED on Black Friday, probably LG B2 or C2 series. I have two questions for those of you who have hooked it up to your Mac desktop or laptop:
- Can you choose 120 Hz native resolution in macOS like you can with a high refresh rate monitor?
- If you do mirror mode with your main monitor or laptop screen, do you get the underscan option in the display panel? I like to use this to artificially reduce the display size when I sit a little bit closer.
Thank you in advance! -
Hi,
If you have any experience with NZXT Aer fans, you know that they come with Daisy chain cables to link to each other, but the cable that connects from the controller to the first fan in the chain is different – see screenshot. I'm looking for a replacement for this. Anyone know where I can find one? It looks like it could be somewhat of a standard thing but I'm not sure. Thank you!

Thank you in advance for any help – I recently purchased this CableMod widebeam hybrid RGB/UV kit without realizing that it uses some kind of nonstandard 5 pin connector for RGB/power. I'm trying to find a way to convert it to be compatible with standard four pin RGB headers. all I care about is the UV portion.

Zipties exist so just take out the pins and use zipties
Thanks for the tip -- I've seen references to this before but I'm not sure the best way to do this. Maybe like this?

Hi,
Background: I just built a new 12th gen system with a core i5-12400, which came with Intel's new stock cooler. Since I was using water cooling from the get-go I don't need the cooler, but I have an older 115x system that could use it. There is a little bit of play in the plastic legs – has anyone tried using it on an older motherboard?
Also, this LTT video references comparing the coolers directly against each other, so they must have figured out a way to do this, at least going the other direction using the older coolers on a new motherboard?
Thank you in advance.

Overpriced and the cases stink.
OP, I would go for an iBuyPower or Cyberpower prebuilt/custom configurator
What about a gaming PC from a major OEM, like this deal from Costco for this HP

HIGHLY Recommend NZXT BLD, love mine though the prices are slightly fricked right now.
Thank you. What level/tier did you get?
-
Budget (including currency): $1000-$1250 USD
Country: USA
Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Premiere Pro video editing, Photoshop, later down the road Blender
Other details:
Looking for a computer for my friend who does Premiere Pro video editing. She is open to building it herself, but it seems like a pre-built may have a better value prospect right now with CPUS and GPUs closer to real value/msrp. She would like to tinker with it after like adding a 2nd drive etc, so it would probably be better off with something like one of the boutiques / Newegg prebuilt / NZXT BLD vs something like a Dell desktop.
Onboard Wi-Fi nice to have but not necessary.
Thank you! -

If you know its the USB Hub, stop using that USB hub lol. See if another one works.
I can't be sure because the whole computer changed -- I didn't need the hub with the mini because it had a lot of ports of its own.

Hi,
Thanks in advance for the help — I got my MacBook Air M1 about two weeks ago, and overall it's been great, except about once every 24 hours it crashes w/ Kernel Panic, hard lockup and reset. Crash log is below, and here are the key findings from my investigation so far:
1. I think it has something to do with my USB-C hub (USB-C to 3x USB 3.0, HDMI, 1Gb Ethernet, PD). I briefly had a MacBook Air early 2020 Intel (core i5) and it would also lock up like this about 1x each 24hrs — I returned it and got a 2020 Intel Mac mini, where I was not using the USB-C hub anymore, and the lockups stopped.
2. I've experimented with using a separate adapter for HDMI out on the 2nd USB-C port, so that the other adapter just had USB devices and ethernet, and the problem still happens.
3. My best guess is it may have something to do with my wireless Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse. The only reason I think this is because after one of the crashes, on the next reboot the wireless keyboard started putting gibberish in the login box as soon as it rebooted without me touching anything, until I turned it off and on and then it stopped. Not sure about this though, kind of a hunch. It did not happen on the Mac mini Intel using the same wireless keyboard and mouse. I just feel like it's something about the wireless USB adapters plus all the data being routed through one USB C hub with networking, a couple of other USB devices, my usb headphones/mic etc. together just pushing too much through that one port — the crash report mentions the last started kext was 'IOUSBHostHIDDevice'.
4. This user reported a similar kernel panic.
panic(cpu 1 caller 0xfffffe002fa204c4): "dart-disp0 (0xfffffe2336894000): SMMU(SMMU) error: SID 0 PTE invalid exception on read with DVA 0x123c000 (TTBR 0 SEG 0 PTE 0x48f) ERROR_STATUS 0x80000004 TIME 0x107e1ec4b7c8e TTE 0 AXI_ID 0)"

What did I win? O_o
More seriously, yes, I do agree, Sunchine is a great movie, utterly underrated... And definitily absolutely not like the trailer I posted! It's actually pretty good! ^o^
uhm... uhm... Oh! Let me see if I have any humble bundle games I purchased but did not redeem on steam.
OK, check your messages!
Yeah, I totally agree very underrated and the trailer does not do it justice.

Have you watched "Sunshine" ?
With much appreciation for all of the suggestions, I'm declaring you the winner because I freakin' love Sunshine, And I really want anyone interested in this topic who has not seen it to see this post because it's a fantastic sci-fi movie and I'm always surprised by how few people have seen it.

I loved The Perfection on Netflix. Also I liked Apostle, but it can be too slow for some people.
El Cuerpo and The Orphanage are very good.
I haven't seen any of those except for the perfection which I really liked especially because I didn't know anything about it going in (which is how I recommend anyone else see it). So I will check out some of those other ones, thanks.

Thank you very much for the responses, I really appreciate it! I love the mist, I have not seen it in forever so I think I will re-watch it! I also love the jacket, that is a great suggestion for a re-watch as well or if anyone else has not seen it. I will also check out "life" and the Cloverfield sequels which I have not seen. Thanks again for the suggestions.

I love sci-fi and I tend to watch just about any decent one on Netflix, or wherever, but for some reason most of the ones I've seen recently Have just been really bad. Has anyone seen a sci-fi movie, horror/thriller or otherwise, recently that they really liked?
Also, it sucks that they canceled the OA.

@stellarshy the G3 models do share the same pinouts and connectors, as do several other of the EVGA listings.
We have a big list of compatibility which you can find on our compatibility page here for reference:

Thank you @CableMod and everyone else who responded with thoughts and info!
@WereCat and @Spotty, thank you for info on suitability and fan differences between 750w vs 1000w, I will keep that in mind. -
Just now, PineyCreek said:
I would say if it's the same model line of the same model year there's very low chance of them changing pinouts unless they had a design flaw. Likely you can match the cables (Sata to Sata, PCI-E to PCI-E) between the models just fine. To be sure, I would ask EVGA.
Thanks, I think I will just to make sure.

Yes, but as long as the pins are the same.
Can you elaborate? It seems like the cables have the same number of pins for the corresponding connection spots on the back of the power supply, or at least it seems so From the pictures, is that what you mean?Thank you.

Why? Are you planning on a hardware change that requires additional wattage? If your system won't draw 1000W, there's no benefit from having a 1000W unit.
Let's assume for the sake of the question that I need it. :) I have the opportunity to get one for pretty cheap, and I'm considering an SLI configuration just for fun. Same question whether I go for the 1000 watt unit or the 750 W unit, I just might be able to get the 1000 W one for the same price as the lower ones.

Thank you for your reply – the last Intel Mac mini with four thunderbolt ports, fourth generation Mac mini unibody space grey with Intel Core i7-8700B.
