  1. I think the safest bet is to use an OC bracket? Like: RYZEN 3000 OC Bracket – der8auer
  2. I have 7 Days to Die and a 5800X3D - But have a 3090... 5120x1440 - Ultra Getting 90-120fps, it varies a little... Super smooth though. Doesn't really peg any one core at 100%.
  3. I think I loved the dynamic between Yvonne and Linus more than the build itself... And Brandon's little "You're making my job very hard", was just the icing on the cake
  4. I have to agree with them using 3200mhz on Ryzen... The memory controller on my 3950X is unstable, even with totally stock settings and just DOCP, running anything faster than 3200Mhz (possibly as I'm using 4x1R). Yes, it's possible to run memory faster, but it's not recommended by AMD themselves, and I've seen multiple friends complain the memory controller becomes unstable over time.
  5. It's called an opinion; I'm allowed to have one... Chips have never run that hot before. And if you can de-lid one, and it runs 20-30C cooler, as Der8eur has, with similar performance, then there is a fundamental issue with getting the heat up through the IHS. But maybe that is how AMD intends for things to be... I don't think there is a right or wrong here, but it's pretty impolite to just dismiss someone's opinion as "wrong".
  6. Personally, I'd be really after some G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo... Built for Ryzen, with sweet clocks and timings...
  7. The 5800x3d is the best bang for buck for gaming right now... 7000 isn't worth it with the price of these motherboards, DDR5, etc. Might be more worth it if they release something like a 7800X3D down the line, with some cheaper motherboard options, but it'll give you so little benefit right now it really does feel a little pointless.
  8. Probably a very good plan, I was looking at possibly getting the MSI MPG X670E Carbon, and shocked at the price... Even the Asus ROG Crosshair Hero seems to have doubled in price this generation. Mobo makers are having a laugh
  9. Hopefully people don't kill their chips like he does that 7700X at the end
  10. I've been seeing all these gaming graphs showing the 5800X3D kicking everything's ass, seen the prices of DDR5 and the X670 mobos, and the temperature issues the IHS is causing (I don't care if they say 95C is normal, it's not... And Der8eur has proved it will run crazy amounts cooler de-lidded), and just noped out of this generation and upgraded my 3950X to a 5800X3D...
  11. I can't name another CPU launch in recent memory where every SKU was still in stock and available for order the first evening after launch... Did AMD misread the market a little? Or is stock just that good?
  12. MSI announced theirs and they look gorgeous... MSI reveals its custom RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 series GPUs | OC3D News (overclock3d.net)
  13. If you guys have a 4090 in hand... Please include an analysis of things like head-bob and camera shake when reviewing DLSS3 in the initial review. From the footage I've seen so far it looks like the technology reduces those atmospheric effects that developers build into a game.
  14. Looking at early examples from digital foundry: I can see less head-bob when walking, and less general camera shake... I'm wondering if the DLSS interpolation smooths this out?!?
  15. I disagree. I think it will be very situational and will depend on both the game and gamer, but it will extend to more than just the competitive scene. Cyberpunk 2077 for example. They gave numbers of 22 fps without, 100 fps with DLSS3. That's 3 made up fantasy frames for every frame of gameplay. I don't see how they can achieve that without noticeable input lag during firefights (although I doubt that I'd feel it driving around or exploring the city). I'm sure we'll see a LTT blind DLSS3 (Can you notice the input lag) test coming in the next few months though.
  16. Yeah 4000 series only. But I don't see why everyone wants it so badly, it looks like a bad thing...
  17. Rendering a frame completely decoupled from the CPU has to introduce input lag of at least 1 frame no matter what... Maybe that matters less the more frames you have as each frame persists for a shorter amount of time, but a lot of gamers still use 60hz monitors so it will be input lag for no benefit. But no matter what game I'm playing, competitive or otherwise, I don't want more input lag.
  18. Is anyone else worried that DLSS 3 is just the same thing as "Motion Smoothing" that we've seen in TVs for a while now? Seems to just take rendered frames and make up (albeit with fancy AI algorithms) totally new frames that didn't exist before... And then they're counting those frames towards the FPS that the card is spitting out on all of the performance graphs in the announcement... Just doesn't seem right to me, but I guess we need to see this thing work before drawing a conclusion. EDIT: I really should have watched the video first...
  19. So I got rid of DOCP and I'm just running the RAM at 2666Mhz... Memtest64 didn't show anything at this speed, I didn't run it at 3600Mhz. However the system has been rock solid since Monday, so it must be either RAM, Memory Controller, or something on the motherboard that doesn't want to work at 3600Mhz any more... Either way, good shout on it being Memory related, major thanks to both @Skiiwee29 and @Sjaakie!!
  20. No I only have the standard modules... Been running fine for over a year and only started playing up in the last month or two...
