That CPU is definitely the problem. A better fx chip would be a relatively cheap upgrade. Something like an 8320.

The G3258 will overclock, so I'dget that out of those two. But getting a Pentium is really not something I'd recommend. The IPC is good enough to do pretty well in games. But they really slow down fast if you try to do anything else while gaming...

Very small difference in IPC, not a huge jump from the 750k.

970 is newer, and faster in many cases.

970 is obviously better, it just depends on how much you are willing to spend.

There's not a massive price difference, but there is a huge performance jump. I'd go with the 290 for sure

Yes, it does. NVIDIA released a driver with sli support for the game a day after launch.

I would recommend two 970s for that setup. For surround you'll still need more than a single card to get >60fps in modern games if you want high settings.

As a person who owned a 1080p smartphone, and now uses a 1440p smartphone I will say there is almost no discernible difference between the two, So any higher is just dumb.

true, ipc isn't everything. Nowadays it is really important to have more than 2 cores.
