wait so the Hebrew bible mentions a sea monster and people believe in religion still?
-
Well apparently a dude built a ship smaller than the Titanic out of wood and it held two of every kind of land animal/bird
I mean I'm not gonna say anything but......
-
it seems if logic was lacking back then. too bad they are dead so they can't be exposed by keemstar
-
Religion is a way to give society structure. It's interesting, but if you think about it, if atheism reigned then so would anarchy. There would be nothing stopping you from killing someone to take what they have.
Also, a large squid could be seen as a "sea monster." It'd be terrifying to someone who'd never seen it before.
You can't take things at face value
-
yes what stops you from killing people is the law. religion was used top control masses yes back in Mayan/aztech time and before that ( i cant think of the name of the place off the top of my head im thinking of some big first biblical civilization. but now there is zero need. we have laws and jail and prison for that. if anything I rather not spend my time alive in a cell because when you die nothing is promised, atleast in life you know fact from fixtion with what you can physically do.
and to go off that logic nothing is stopping anything from doing anything. most people I ask will say I don't want to go to jail rather then I don't want to go to hell, and if you think about it the bible says if you don't listen to your parents you go to hell, so looks like every kid born past 1990 is going to hell lol. but thats just proof it was only used as a "law" or a way to "control" masses. we have more proof of aliens then we do of a "god"
-
Not really. People can easily ignore laws, and do, just like stated in the second part of your reply. Also keep in mind this was when large parts of the planet didn't have written laws like they do now. Religion comes into play when people have to think what will happen to them when they die for the misdeeds they've done. It's a stance many clinical psychiatrists have.
-
religion is like IE, its time to update to chrome or Firefox people. its old news we don't need anymore, more and more people are Athiesnt/agnostic now. most kids don't practice religion they are just born into knowing what it is so they say they are that religion with not knowing anything about it other then very very basics.
-
Religion is not the thing that gives you a moral compass. If you need a book to tell you not to kill someone something is seriously wrong with you.
-
its people with mental illness that randomly kill, its a mental illness to kill people and feel perfectly fine with it. even if you stole 5 mill from me and banged my wife I wouldn't kill you, just want to see you locked up and maybe butt poked by an inmate.
-
@DrMacintosh and yet, religion does for huge portions of the population.
@RoyalGamer1 killing someone in my scenario would be more premeditated. Not random.
-
Well thats even worse if you plan to kill someone thays like major mental health issues compared to a random anger flash that ends up a killing.
and for what you said to that dr dude, if religion is the ONLY reason you have a moral compass well I’m pretty sure that’s a mental heath issue too but you may just be be lower on the scale of it to the point that you think about killing people or you don’t care if you did but you don’t want to because of hell. Those are the people that have the random killings. Or one random killing that starts a whole series of killings.
I could also say if your bad a monster will come from the woods and eat you and people used to do that to scare kids into being good. But your just seen as a bad parent if you did that now.
-
Your not even helping your point or laying supporting detail on why we are wrong or why you don’t agrees with us
-
For a vast majority of people it is. I never said it was for me. You complain about people reading things improperly, yet your reading comprehension isn't that great yourself
I'm not writing a paper. I don't really care if you agree with what I say or not, or even if you believe it or not. I have no desire to back up what I say, or sway what you think.
Also, it's you're.
