.N. got a reaction from ARikozuM in Finally Installed a FIREPOLE!!
So how do we fill this incident form out again?

    Incidents requiring immediate notification
Employers are responsible for immediately notifying us, using the Prevention Information Line, if any of the following incidents have happened in the workplace:
A worker is seriously injured or killed on the job.  - someone might want to define 'seriously injured' perhaps?  There is a major structural failure or collapse of a building, bridge, tower, crane, hoist, temporary construction support system, or excavation - well it technically doesn't say 'fire pole' sooo  in all seriousness good light humor there

    keep safe!

Was probably Luke “titty streaming” he will deny it but we all know that a “floatplane” with no wings is an ol fashion “motorboat”....this may have been more amusing in my head.

however, yes giants like twitch get it wrong far too often the challenge that we all experience is these big sites have really poor customer service not through lack of wanting to support (so they say) but simply the wide range of queries and demand for attention.  Trying to train enough people that can first filter the RTFM issues from the genuine issues (DMCA violation first offence with no clear evidence provided to the alleged offender before temp ban hammering) is where the bad reputations ensue.

a simple - you’ve been DMCA’d for this clip due to footage between this point and this point would resolve a lot of issues on the “why”

followed by a simple “click here to either challenge this or acknowledge fault/human error and carry on” (the huge admit fault due to human error/innocent mistake would go a long way - you just need a basic reputation score associated with the account I.e not so innocent intentional DMCA violation less likely to get reinstated etc).

    good luck LTT team.

.N. got a reaction from Levisallanon in Aruba WAP Controller advise
So update have bitten the bullet forked our the near 9k NZ for a controller...4 week lead time!!! Then I have to licence the WAP’s like what the! Don’t get me wrong I got them for free pretty much but licences for the AP’s that’s a bit rough given I’ve grabbed a propriety controller running Aruba *strikethat* HP switch’s kinda of a bit cheeky. (As I investigate fortigate for the rest of the business).  Why can’t it be a simple server licence with a fixed capacity and just a annual maintanence fee for the firmware/patches etc (not a per WAP cost) I dunno.  Rant over.  4 weeks to go until i can explore the controller and see if it’s truly worth the cost.

sorry HP employees reading this thread - but fair to say the outlay to use this gear without much of a reason as to why it’s worth all the ongoing costs...call me wary.

    however please prove me wrong

.N. reacted to Lurick in Choosing right CAT6 cable and plugs.
If it's not going to be near any power lines and you don't have a group of like 10 to 20+ cables together, you'll be fine with UTP cable. The plugs won't matter either way since you strip off the outside cover to expose the colored wires anyway.

Well as a Cisco employee I think you should clearly replace them all with Cisco gear

Depending on the spread of APs, I would do standalone on the branches and if you have like a campus or two with a lot of APs in one location, spin up something yourself on bare metal and manage those with that.

haha yes the Cisco employee party line I heard all too well when i called our business development manager...the capex spend just couldn't be justified at this early stage (the 150 AP's are over 12 sites so not huge volumes but a few thousand miles between me and them to easily monitor).

noted 1 vote for stand alone mode. thanks
